NMPRO #15 – Mark Yarnell Interview 1 of 6

March 29th, 2009 Email This

The first show of a 6-part interview with Industry legend Mark Yarnell.  Not only is he the author of many best-selling books, the best known being “Your first year in Network Marketing”, but he has also earned over $30 million dollars in distributor commissions over his career.  Two things as we start this interview… First, I know I need to work on the audio quality of these interviews.  Working on that one.  Second, during this interview I was struggling with a bad cough so please bear with me.  I hope you enjoy it!  If you do, please let me know you’re alive by commenting below!  :)

    Thank you Eric
Get a good mentor and listen and do what they say!
  • MarvinTowler
Pick a mentor and then shut up and listen!
  • KeithN
When the student is ready, the mentor/teacher shall appear.
  • Alfie
Experience is not the best teacher, but a mentor.

If you found a good mentor, you should only do three things:
    1. Shutup
    2. Listen
    3. Do
  • Find a mentor and let them teach... Listen!. They are the ones who made it so really your opinion doesn't count
  • Niiiiiice find!

A couple of days ago, I read an article from Mark Yarnell on resolutions. I knew I had heard of him before. Going through the past episodes his name suddently appeared.
So I thought let's have another look.
I think the audio quality is good, Eric. No problem there.
    I enjoyed it.
  • Great start to this series with Mark Yarnell!
  • Since I met Mark my income has done nothing but explode and go up. He is my mentor and has been for the last 10 years. I am front line to him and looking to build my last dynasty. Listen to what he has to say it works.

Eric, I must say that I'm so blessed to be in your team! You and Randy Gage is a great mentor to me, guiding me everyday through mail and up date of what you guys have for us. Here in Malaysia, you and Randy had done a great job in producing leaders for the team and I'm so excited everyday, doing my best to do well to contribute our team success!

Last month we had a great convention on the 21st and 22nd with leaders from Thailand, USA, Mexico, Australia ....... I'm looking forward to see you and Randy in Malaysia soon :-))

  • Great stuff!

The toughest part is to "shut up", especially for me.

It's official, I have now become a follower of site and videos. See what social marketing will do for you, give good value and people will come around.

Pick a mentor.. then shut up and listen. That is simple wisdom.
  • I truly enjoyed your first interview with Mark so much that I couldn't wait to hear what he had to share in the second part. I really appreciate you and these top-notch mentors to share their heart and their frankness is very refreshing. Thank you very much!
  • Oh yes in deed! mentoring and couching are crucial for your understanding of the Industry specially when you are brand new, auto training is a most, listen, read, look, and practice everything you can for building trust in the Industry...
Eric Thank you so much you are in our list of our mentors, and we love to know that in this Industry there is sucha a great guys like you, it seems that you are having fun with your program Congrats!!!
    Sara
  • Boy am I glad that I've been able to see these! To those of you who haven't, watch them all and continually view, as part of your personal development, those areas where you need the most help...I am.
    Thanks Eric,

  • The importance of a good mentor is critical, the people you surround your self with will have a direct impact on who you become. However, we must make a conscience effort to improve and deserve the attention of a good mentor. I’ve heard it said “when the student is ready the teacher will appear”. First question to ask ourselves is what are we doing to deserve another’s investment in us??

    Eric,
    you are the man!!!!
i learn from you every day.

  • Isil Gurcan
Enjoyed it very much Eric...great subject, great guest, great interview.
You told yourself about what needs improvement.
One thing I'd like to point out though.

Is it possible to add the conversation in subtitle on the video?
That would be great for the non-native english speakers.
I must admit I've missed some parts during the interview.
I know some people that would follow only if they have the text subtitled.

Keep on going Eric. What you're doing is genuine. It's a real pleasure to follow you.

    With love.
    Isil.

Bugger!! - Just sat forward and it stopped :)

For those looking for mentors, do not forget that you yourself are if fact a mentor to somebody.
The questions is then: Would you want to be mentored by you?
If not then what in you has to improve?

. . . looking forward to tomorrow. Thanks Eric and Mark.
  • Pick a mentor and shut up! Thanks for sharing!!! we may not always have one right there available for us but there're out there also in trainings, seminars, books, ... we can get a kind of mentoring too if we follow what they're telling us.

    Eric,
Thank you for bring this information to us. I loved the interview. 3:07 was my favorite part. So I have to ask, will you be my mentor? I will do everything you say to grow my business. I can only assume that you are going to be bombarded with this question going forward. LOL! Seriously though... call me.

On another note, I would like to hear what your thoughts are on coaching / mentorship. What does that relationship look like? What are the expectations of the coach and the expectations of the trainee?

    Thanks, Angela

  • I found Mark Yarnell's book when I joined my 3rd MLM company. Here, some 20 years later, I've come to realize how important it is to find an accessible mentor and become one for my downline! I was a distributor for NuSkin--one of the 97%. Thank you, Mr. Yarnell and Mr. Worre for sharing.
  • I've read Mr. Yarnells Your First Year In Network Marketing, great book! Really looking forward the rest of the interview.
  • Sylvie
Excellent interview with Mark Yarnell, can't wait for parts 2-6. Look forward to coffee every morning with you Eric and my daily dose of Network Marketing PRO. THanks! Collecting a lot of nuggets to help me grow!
  • Stella Webber The Netherlands
Sorry, I did put the wrong comments here. Wanted to put it where the other video was, about subject Limiting believes.
This one with the Mark Yarnell interview was also very interesting. Thanks, Eric
  • Stella Webber The Netherlands
So very true. Not only does this apply for people in different countries. People tell me (very often): Yes, but the people I meet are so different! Or: Yes, but people in my family are so different!
And we know everybody needs and wants the same, basically.
Thanks for sharing and attending us, Eric!
  • Great interview, Mark has been a long tim friend of mine for over 12 years. Eric, you are doing an excellent job! I'm sure this will positively impact our industry - your site is awesome.

    Rick Hagar
  • The Nathan Ricks interview and this one offer huge clues to network marketing success. Find and follow successful people you are willing and ready to listen to. Eric I appreciate what a difference you make to me and my day. The first step is willing to be coachable. Without it the best mentor is mute.

    Michael Eisbrener
  • "An inflamation of the head caused by undue edification", I love it, this describes so many of the people that I encountered during my previous network marketing experiences. I decided that I was never going to work with anyone like this again, which I is why I sought you out Eric. Fortunately you were accessible as a true leader should be.

My advice to anyone watching this program, needing help to move thier business forward, or just coming into the profession, is research and work upline until you find someone who you can relate to and who is in the position that you want to be in. Technology and the internet will allow you to do this.

    See you Wednesday Eric

    Regards Grahame
  • Wow !! I can't wait to get home to check this video !!

  • Eric, I look forward to this program with great anticipation each morning and have not been disappointed yet! I am new to network marketing and this is an invaluable boost to my day, giving me food for thought as I go out into my world on a daily basis.
Having just read the First Year in Network Marketing I am so looking forward to this entire interview and I love the accessibility he is talking about to the people who have "done it" and their willingness to share their success and failure - so different from the corporate structure in other jobs I have been involved in. This is truly a fun and unique industry and I look forward to being successful.

    Thank you so much.
  • WOW this is great. Thanks!
  • Patti Behnk
I am very excited about this interview, and the Network Marketing Pro site. I have been following you, and am encouraged by your industry leadership. I am building my own Network Marketing business, and its good to see that the info from my own organization, is the same industry wide. Just one more avenue to beat it into my head!! I am encouraging my team to follow and listen. I really enjoy your insight. Thanks so much! I am looking forward to hearing more.
