NMPRO #75 – What is the Success Rate of the Average Network Marketer?

June 11th, 2009 Email This

I answer two questions in this episode?  What is the success rate of the average Network Marketer?  And what percentage of people who you ask to join your business actually do it?  Question of the day (QOTD):  What are you grateful for?

There is no average networker. One of the things I point out to people is this: if you go apply for a job and there are 1000 people applying, and only 2 positions, 998 people have to leave no matter how well they are qualified. If they came to me, I could offer all of them the opportunity. All who were willing to work could succeed, not just 2.

I'm grateful for family, friends, and having a chance to live life to the fullest each day I'm blessed with.
  • Alfie
Very honest answer. It will still go for number's game.

    Re QOTD:
I'm grateful in a lot of things. In business, I'm grateful for my team, my mentor/s, partners, company, products. I'm also grateful in this site.
  • Erik
    well said :)
  • You're a star Eric. I love hearing the truth about the industry even when sometimes we might like it to be more encouraging. I think people who are sincere about success can work with the facts and find a way to succeed. Compared to working for someone else all your life NM is a dream business.
  • The question: "What is the Success Rate?" is ostensibly legitimate, but it can also be an excuse to opt out.

So, when it is asked by a potential partner - for me it's a red flag that prompts me to qualify whether she is someone I want to work with.

When it's asked by a team member, it begs the question: is she committed/ over the line? What has prompted the question.

QOTD: Health, Family, Human Relationships, Nature, Being Alive and Living

I'm grateful for everything I have in life. I have achieved many things, but most important to me is my family - Mom & siblings, Husband, 3 kids & daughter-in-law. I'm grateful for my business and that I live a good life in the free world. I do work very hard and am grateful that I love my business.

I am still striving, after almost 8 years, for success in network marketing. I am also happy with my life as it is.
  • I am grateful for my wife Caroline and our 4 amazing children also to be alive right now in a time of an abundance of opportunities and to be aligned with true leaders in our Netwotk marketing company Agel.

Hello, Im new to mlm........is there a company that you can recomend for me to get started in........thank you,Tony

Have you got started yet? ---- khan
  • Tony, this business is so much easier when you're sharing something you're passionate about. If your passionate about health and wellness, there's some great companies to choose from. If you're passionate about personal development, look in that area. If you're into technology, there's a few technology based companies.

What drives you? What type of products would you purchase as a customer?

Look for products that are unique in the market.

Then look at their leadership team, their track record and the companies financial backing. Look for a compensation plan that rewards building a team of people who are using products, not a plan that is based on continual recruiting.

Look for a company that it is growing, but hasn't gone through it's explosive growth phase yet, so that you can leverage the companies timing in the market place.

    I hope that helps. David
  • I am grateful for my awesome husband and children. I am also grateful that I am a Christian and for the Lord saving me. I am so grateful for the awesome people that I have met over the last few years and for the exotic places that I have been able to travel. There are so many things to be grateful for.

QOTD: Of course, first of all I'm grateful for my children. They are really nice and intelligent. As Mom, I can tell a lot of good things about my kids :))
Second, I'm very grateful that I have a Great man in my life! He is a high-level Professional, good father and partner, just an amazing man! I'm very happy to work and live with him! Thanks my dear, that you are in my life! :)))
  • I'm grateful for every piece of the puzzle that gets me closer to the next one!
  • Thank you for your thoughts Eric. It really inspires me.
QOTD: mother for giving birth to me, my sister who introduces to NM, my girlfriend for loving me.
  • Success rate is seldom defined first. Depending on how you define it makes all the difference. If you have a job currently you can add $100's to your take home pay with the legitimate business expenses from your home business. While you may not be in profit your income will be higher. Remove the expenses you had anyway from the equation and things change. With no current job your income must exceed new expenses in a reasonable period of time. I believe break even in 1-3 months is possible for anyone. Show a dozen how to do the same and your first year can be a highlight reel. However, when you know a ton about how it 'should' be and nothing about how it is the highlights are less frequent.

If you ask eveyone you know the percentage who will say yes is very very small. If you take the time to 'qualify' those who have the abilities, are willing, able and ready the percentage saying yes of that group is much higher. There are people in my life who would simply be super stars over night but they are always a no. They are not willing or ready. My emotional attachment to outcomes is the biggest problem, not the no's.

One method is to turn over every rock and see if it will talk. The other method is spend time noticing which rocks talk. Identify their characteristics and look for those. The second method takes more time to learn and teach but in the long run it's much more effecient.

QOTD: I am thankful for having a wife willing to have two ISP's coming into the house. (She is actually a saint as life would be far less exciting and be more difficult without her commitment to workability.) Once you adapt to two ISPs, when you lose one, you appreciate how much of a difference it really made... and I am grateful one is still working.

    ERIC WORRE #75 –

  • I wish 20% said yes to me. It's usually more like 4 or 5% based on my numbers. I think your # of 70 personal sponsorships in 4 years is a lot more realistic than the guys on the net who say they are sponsoring 25 - 30 people per month. If you set people up for real expectations in the beginning they are much less likely to quit.
  • This topic always reminds me of Bill Britt from Amway fame.

He showed the plan to 1200 people - 300 signed up (meaning 900 said no!)

Of the 300, only 85 did anything.

Of the 85, 35 were serious.

Of the 35, 11 made him a multi-millionaire....ya gotta work the numbers!!!

QOTD: My God, may family, and my NWM company .... grateful for all 3 every day.
  • Good info Eric,

I usually say the "average" person doesn't make a thing!!. I consider myself (not boasting when I say this) as above average and I am looking for people who want to be above average....Like you say the "average" person will quit..

I am grateful for my life, my God and my family and the fact I have the opportunity to change my life and make a difference in other peoples lives as well with Network Marketing...
  • Pedro Lugo Hernández
Q.O.T.D.: I'm definitely grateful for Ana (my girlfriend) being in my life. Also for all the opportunities for growth and all the support and love from family and friends and for them being in my life as well.
  • I have recently had 2 people ask me as my wife and I were sitting down with them going over the business.: " Can I Fail"... my response to them was of course you can fail. It reminds me of the mantra that we have here in Basketball crazy Indiana.. " you might miss your shot.. but the only guarantee in in life and basketball is you will miss 100% of the shots you don't take!" GO MAGIC!

QOTD: My Wife, My God, living in a beautiful home w/o a mortgage, living in the United States, Being raised by my father, My friends, The company I work in and the people I've met inside it.. Networkmarketingpro.com. many more things

We have a guy in our company that went 60 for 60, didn't get 61 & 62, then went on another streak. He has over 114 personal sales in about 18 months. My point by saying this is for those of us who are not having great success, we have to delete stories like that out of our minds and just go to work ourselves, put out the numbers, and we will find the ones who are looking for something. We can improve ourselves if we try, then fail, and get back up and try more. I like what you said Eric about how what we do everyday is give people an opportunity to change their lives IF THEY choose to. Very true. QOTD: I am grateful for dream stealers because they give us the drive to show them what they missed out on by telling us it doesn't work. Doesn't that sound fun?
