NMPRO #76 – What do I do if my Warm Market is Skeptical?

June 12th, 2009 Email This

Approaching people you know in the “Right Way” is SO important!  Learn how to keep your friends.  :)   Question of the day (QOTD):  Are you getting a “Vanity URL” on Facebook?

Approach I believe is very important, and a sincere desire to help people should be our focus, with that you really will not mind if they can't see the opportunity yet, but they will see it when there are evident proofs to show. So our attitude towards them after we have approached them, even when they say 'no', is to love them and not despise them nor feel offended at them.

This touches one of the areas I have to work on. As Bob Burg says posture means "you care, but not that much".
  • Dylan Cooper
I like that concept so much. No twisting of arms! It's just about letting them know what you do.

Let others know what it is that you do. Your job is not to convince them to do what you do. They should have a burning desire to participate, or at least a genuine interest or they won't stay long after they join. The outcome of your presentation is out of your control. They either accept or reject the company, not you. Their decision is not personal as long as you inform them professionally. Don't worry about the mule going blind, just load the wagon.

    This makes sense.

    1. You're not there to convince anybody anything.
    2. Don't be emotionally attached to the outcome.

    Very professional.
  • yeah ! great approach, we are here to help people, not to convince them !
  • Great approach to our skeptical warm market, thanks!
  • This is a great insight and I will ensure I remember this key point "I just want you to understand what I do - I really don't mind if you aren't interested in doing it as well."
  • Erik
Watched this again, great tips :)
  • Excellent point on how to approach your warm market / family members. You would like to share with them so that they can understand what you are doing. Thanks for sharing. God Bless!

Hmmm. I like this question. If your warm market is skeptical, don't sell them. No red persona here at all. Just let them be your "warm market". Don't sell them. Let them see your success and wonder. They'll begin to ask how you do it and if they can do it also.

Never so far! that seems to be a viddler weakness
  • Lisbeth van het Erve
I did like your introduction - thank you
  • How do you talk to your warm market? Don`t try to convince anyone, and don`t be emotionally attached to the outcome. Just explain what you are doing. If it excites them, fine! Have them join your team. If not, that`s great too - you don`t want your warm market prospect joining your team just because he feels uncomfortable rejecting you if you try to convince him. This will do you, your team and your business no good.
  • Network marketing doesn't come with years of college and certification. As a lawyer or even the owner of a McDonald's you would invite family, friends and warm market to send customers your way. Because there is nothing to be gained by offering the opportunity naturally you discuss it with those who bring it up first. Educating those around us on what we are doing is for some a natural expression of who they are and for many they learned from experiences how to be silent and secretive. The Law of Attraction or magnetic sponsoring does not work when you "Do it" to people, especially your family and friends. The skills required to be learned are not attained from a book, a manual or watching a video. The bicycle requires you actually get on and attempt to ride. No amount of study or watching before hand will produce your being a master bicycle rider. Most of us fell down more times than we remember. Some of us required training wheels. Once the 'art' of riding a bike is experienced you have it for life. Unfortunately you cannot give it to anyone. They too will have to experience riding the bicycle on their own terms. Once they know... a conversation about how to excel at it is only then possible. Network marketing as a professional is a grand and exceptionally fine bicycle. Thank you Eric for being an exceptionally fine mentor and coach.

QOTD: I will continue adding to the Iceburner brand at facebook too.
  • :D
I like your answers Mr Eric, you are the real leader.
  • Excellent job. Many people around in my circle are talking about Magnetic Sponsoring and the such and I know of no one that has done any business from it. The whole funnel marketing or what ever they will call it this week is in my opinion unethical. I follow your approach with my warm market and it gets more interest.
  • Jaime Morale (Los Angeles)
It is very hard to disagree with anything that you say Eric because I've learned so much from you but in this case I'm going to respectfully disagree. I think that warm market recruiting is great but when you position yourself online and not push a button but build relationships with people, specially other Networkers, Attraction Marketing is faster than warm market recruiting. I failed like nobody's business for years until I took the time to learn online marketing.

A new person's warm market is not like a 5 year or 10 year or even a 20 year industry veteran. When a veteran has a Home Business Presentation, the house is full of not relatives but other MLM pros. When a new person has their meeting, uncle joe and broke cousin jane show up and kill the new person's drive.

I know warm market recruiting will always be a great way to grow a business but attraction marketing is the real deal.. Not talking about Magnetic Sponsoring the product, I'm talking about Attraction Marketing the philosophy.

¿Qué hago si mi mercado caliente no me cree?

No, verdad! Entonces vamos a construir una relación de confianza.
  • The thing that strikes me about NMPro is that there never is a "wasted" episode. All of my new team members will need to be watching these episodes as part of their start up training. Again, Great info Eric! Thanks for your dedication to improving our profession as a whole.

QOTD: I don't know if I will get a vanity url... I like the branding idea but one of the things that turned me off about myspace (besides the constant inappropriate spamming) was it was sometimes difficult to find friends because of all of the nicknames.
  • I totally agree...
