NMPRO #86 – Keeping Business Consistent Throughout The Year

June 28th, 2009 Email This

It’s easy to lose several months worth of momentum in just a few weeks if you don’t handle holidays correctly.  Any time the world gets distracted, it’s our job to keep our MLM businesses open and growing.  Here are some of my thoughts on how to make that happen.  Question of the Day (QOTD):  What are YOUR plans to keep your momentum through the summer months?

Hey there, nother great idea. I was criticized once because a member of my successline passed books door to door on Memorial Day. So all holidays I sit home working on admimistrative stuff and wishing I could go out and do something. This idea of holding an event, not sure how to accomplish it yet, but I sure will try.

Consistency is of the key component of the MLM success formula.

Build a large number of people
    CONSISTENTLY doing small things
in a sustainable period of time.

QOTD : My plan is to focus on 10.

10 calls, 10 new contacts, 10 pages of reading, 10 minutes of NMPRO training , 10 minutes of cardio and 10 minutes of strength training ; 10 new team members = President's club
10 weeks to Salt Lake City !
    10 - 10 - 10 !

QOTD: Everyone's on holiday, I'm on holiday - so how do I keep up momentum? Online of course. The main thing is to keep contact with your team, customers and prospects. Don't disappear from their lives just because you're on holiday. Send mails, links, recommend books, and if there's no internet - send sms's.
Then before the holiday ends - invite for the first post-holiday event.
  • Great advice Eric on how to keep the momentum. I can see how easy it is to get distracted in the summer (or Christmas time, etc.)
I've noticed already in June that I'm spending more time outdoors with the family and making plans for vacations, beach days, etc. This has caused me to think, "Wait a minute here. I do NOT want September to come around and I haven't done anything with this business."

QOTD: I kind of feel that if I DON'T spend the appropriate time on my business, I'm letting my team down. I want to make sure that I keep motivating my downline (no matter how small it is). So, I'm planning to devote some time each day to my netwok marketing business and just try to get in the habit of making it a daily practice. Also, to keep getting on the calls and webinars.

    Espero volver a verte pronto,
    Hasta luego

Keeping momentum is easy when you truly believe in your products and the company. I talk about it everywhere I go. Even at functions, get togethers and holiday parties etc. I just can't help myself. I'm on even while I travel, on an airplane, in a hotel w/staff, out dining. I'm having a blast and people see it and are attracted to it. There is no holiday since I'm living my dream because everyday is a holiday!
  • I will try to catch up on my readings.

I have the following books to read:
    Think and grow rich
    A a man thinketh

    Love you all

For us who are still struggling and finding it difficult to withstand the rollercoaster ups and downs and loop-de-loops of network marketing, especially if full-time, sometimes we can't see that far ahead to plan. Often, we're living day-to-day, commission cheque-to-commission cheque. Maybe planning ahead is a good way to attract a better success and break the cycle?

This is absolutely the most difficult thing for me to do, especially when running another business. Good time management skills are essential. It is so easy to proscratinate by saying, "I'll do double duty tomorrow because I just don't have time to make calls today!"
  • I live where the weather is not seasonal. The weather is the same, day in, day out, 365 days a year here. It is the first two weeks of a Minnesota June here every day. I am still learning to stay on task and have not developed a useful method for marking the past and future. Events are a great help and my experience of time is, it either happened in the last two weeks or before that. Annual events appear almost out of nowhere still. Managining others experience of time may be a key component I need to spend more time on.
  • Eric,
Thanks again for your mentorship. Another in the line of a series of great tips. In my company we are building toward 2 events per the suggestions of or top field leadership and Corporate. The first one is local here in Indy in the 2nd week of August. The second is our company's annual worldwide conference in Utah in September.... This is in addition to our weekly opportunity meetings.

  • So true Eric,

Always trying to stay PERSISTANTLY - CONSISTANT is one of my quirks..One has to keep the momentum going.
Even with summer holidays coming up most people say - 'well it's summer and people won't be interested." Big mistake - that is the time to build because most other Network Marketing people won't do it so make sure we professionals DO!!!
  • bernadettedock
    good point Eric. Thank you
  • So what do you do in let's say the Easter school holiday period where a lot of people here go on vacation for at least a week if not two.
    Thanks Eric.
