I agree with Mike and Eric on the topics discussed in this interview, and I enjoyed it greatly. I do have one pet peeve, however, and that's people in Network Marketing thinking that cars, houses, clothes make you look successful.

To a point, we need to dress well and drive a decent car, there is no argument there. Where I have a problem is people thinking that having all of these things proves success. Success is being the real thing, that means providing what people need and want by showing a genuine interest in a person. It doesn't matter if it's on the phone, on the Internet or in person, what sells you is how you see yourself, how you value your own knowledge, skills, talents, and how you relate to people.

Clean and neat clothes make the man or women look serious about their work and very professional, but it's not the house or cars that sells people on you. I've been in Network Marketing since 1977 and so I've seen it all. What impressed me about my sponsor was his neat and pressed clothing after driving two and a half hours to see me. What impressed me about this man was the message he had for me and how he presented it...he had pure confidence and self-worth. That is what I copied and that is how I succeeded. It's not the false representations that make you someone people want to follow, it's the confidence and self-assurance (just like Mike said).

I am concerned that people in Network Marketing get way too hung up on the material things to imitate success when what people really want is to know you are serious, that you do what you say you will do, that you are committed to being the best you can be, that you offer something that they need and want, and that you genuinely care about the person. That is really the bottom line here.
