NMPRO #103 – Randy Gage on Multi-Level Morons 3 of 4

July 22nd, 2009 Email This

In part 3 of our 4-part interview with Randy Gage, we discuss online tactics that actually WORK!  Enjoy.  Question of the Day (QOTD):  Do you have a close friend that you can use Randy’s approach with?  The one where he says “You’re way too sharp to be acting this stupid”?  If so, give it a try!  :)

What I still cannot figure out is how he finds so many people to call.
  • Great video for part 3!

If you guys have never seen the video that Eric referred to by Perry Belcher, excellent free video, I highly recommend it!

I'm not sure why there is still so much confusion on Randy's views about internet marketing and network marketing. I believe he has articulated them very clear here in this interview. My understanding is that he believes there is a right way and a wrong way to do internet marketing.

The right way is to use these websites to meet people, build relationships with them and if something comes up over the course of that relationship where they indicate a need for your product and/or business opportunity, then you expose them.

The wrong way is to spam everybody and their momma with your business opportunity. The wrong way is also to use a lot of these internet marketing tactics (i.e. pay per click, article marketing, video marketing, etc) because of his belief that these tactics work but they don't duplicate.

Finally, in regards to the fact that there seems to be a disconnect between what he says and what he does because he has a blog and does internet marketing, he stated right here that the internet marketing that he does is NOT for the purposes of building his network marketing business, but they are for the purposes of building his publishing business. Obviously in a publishing business, you don't have to worry about duplication so you can do anything that works.

I agree with him for the most part. IThe one area I do disagree with him on is internet marketing tactics not duplicating because they can duplicate. The way they duplicate is by teaching the people you recruit using internet marketing tactics traditional network marketing and reserve internet marketing training only for those distributors that have a desire and a potential skill set to develop these skills. That's what I have done and in a US network marketing business, I have an organization with distributors in over 33 states. There's no way that would have happened if what I did doesn't duplicate.

QOTD - No because the majority of my close friends are in the business already and the few that aren't they took a serious look and decide it wasn't for them. I've never had a close friend refuse to take a serious look at my business opportunity. I would seriously question how "close" of a friend they really are if I asked them to take a look at my business and they couldn't take the time out to do that. I even look at the businesses of my friends who I wouldn't say are close, but they are friends just out of respect for the friendship.
  • It has to be a very close one, and find him a in a very special moment to say something like that. It is just transparent.
  • Its all been said below. Love listening to you & Randy banter back & forth. One always learns from the two
    of you.
  • Name
It's CLEAR to me, Randy Gage doe not understand "social marketing and new school marketing."

With that said: He uses social marketing daily which is New School marketing.

Perry Belcher was mentioned and how he invites people to his blog / "home" to meet and get to know him better. When asked do you do that, Randy replied, NO! I don't use my blog for "prospecting."

    He just doesn't get it!

He needs to get Mike Dillards "Magnetic Sponsoring."

If he had purchased the program he would understand He's been appling social media tactics for over 20 years per his blog. The only difference is now it's being done online and through facebook, twitter &, this forum.

Did he mention "myspace." Talk about a slip of the tongue!

The bottomline is "BRANDING" ones self and "ATTRACTING" people to YOU!

Isn't that what Randy has always been doing?
    Aren't people attracted to him???

Check his blog, there is a bio of him. Isn't the visitor learning more about Randy?

He has schedule's of where & when he's speaking. He's in to investments, it goes on and on!

This is all "attraction marketing NEW SCHOOL" at it's best!

And He doesn't KNOW IT!!!! How funny is that!

But when your mind is closed, it blocks out relavent information that could take you to the next level.

It's so easy for Randy, to explode what Mike, Perry and for lack of a better word "attraction specialists" are
doing. He is positioned perfectly, far better than Eric W. from what I can see.

What about the rest of us? How do we benefit???? What actions should we be taking???

Should we really take Randy at his word? Or should we analize and determine what's real and what's not.

He will wake up very soon and say "OH, I GET IT." This is what i've been doing for 20 years! HELLO

Not unlike the thousands that say to NWM or have quit!

In today's world there is NO reason to demean people whether you know them or not! Just send them to your "home/blog" where they can learn what's real and what's not. It's just that simple. Isn't that what professionals like Eric, Perry, Ann and Mike do???? They let their site, their programs speak for them. They know these sites will only give out crediable and timely information! The site will never berate or get angry. it will do only what it was designed to do... promote, brand, befriend, asist, attract, sell, give what ever it's design teams dictate.

I've learn more through this interview than all the others. Randy, is truly one for the books. It will be interesting
to see him grow as he learns more.

Oh, no mention of list building. Hummmm!

    Paul
  • Paul, you and a lot of others are missing the point.
The underlying message is that what you do does not duplicate to the extent that it will allow you to walk away from your online business and still be paid year after year.
At the end of the day we can all dance around the pole, Randy included, saying one method is better or worse than the other however like many methods, online or offline, if tomorrow you stopped doing what you do your income would eventually stop. That is the core of what the 'few simple action' method Randy teaches is all about.
Once one truly understands that method, and sees it actually take hold within the group dynamic, that is when one realizes the enormous power in that big picture.
    Regards, Tony Scarcia.
  • Tony, thanks for commenting.

I disagree with your assessment of not duplicating. That is an opinion not founded in facts.

The point is with old school methods all you have is old school methods. That has so far has NOT shown to work for 97% of the people!

All we're saying is: You can improve your chances of success by applying new school methods.

New school, list building, branding, social media, video, online ads, marketing (that's a really new concept)
to build an MLM. Isn't that how traditional businesses are built through marketing. Having a budget, split testing, analyzing, re-testing, building relationships GLOBALLY!

Now, how does that compare to recruiting a friend or family member and generating their Christmas list?

How many actually ever make a list, let alone contact the list???? Not many!

We are not saying stop old school. All we're saying is become a "Professional Networker" learn new marketing skills. Determine your ROI on your business and marketing efforts. Take your business seriously so that when you approach a serious prospect like an owner of a company it's in a manner he understands (business marketing).

There is a Dr. that owners over 300,000 domain names. This guy has basically cornered the market in this strategy. How has he done it? He thought and saw a niche that could make him money.

When people type a domain name often they get it wrong such as .cm, .om, or .co vs. .com.

When that happens you go to one his pages and he gets paid. You'll generally come to a page with ads on it.

This is new school marketing! What can be achieved is endless.

To say duplication can't happen is non-sense. It might not be happening yet on a massive scale is because we are in the beginning stages of this new method. You can embrace of be left behind.

This arena changes daily and we must stay on top of it our pay the price. I'm a novice to say the least. However I do see the big picture!

You watch, as Randy and Eric, get the big picture!

As I mentioned before check out Mike's traffic via alexa.com and see what's going on.

    The numbers don't lie.

It's great to chat with you & the others.

Oh, Just yesterday Stephanie said she reaches the top of her company in 15 months because of her online skill set. Would you argue that it's not sustainable?

    Paul
  • Hi Paul. You have some good points and insofar as we're striving to become and/or teach others to become professional then we have a lot in common and I appreciate that in you. Your passion is so clear in your text.
What Randy Gage teaches is not a case of what works, it's a case of what duplicates. We can both show figures to justify any example however Randy's mantra of "to lead a large group of people to do a few simple actions consistently over a sustained period of time" does not show in your examples. 300,000 domain names is not a simple action and is not easily duplicated by a large group of people. Branding, social media, video, online ads, ppc etc is not 'easily' duplicated, yes it can work but it does not fit Randy's formula of duplication.
Randy's formula is obviously not the be-all and end-all of existence and yes, a healthy balance of on-line and off-line, new and old is always the best route for anyone in business however I have seen and even know a heck of a lot of people who have incredible success using Randy's formula without having to even go online, (and a lot of those people have had no previous mlm experience), so I guess we can agree to disagree on some points.
Oh, on your last question on Stephanie's sustainability, yes sustainable but is it a simple set of actions that can be done by a large group of people, I hazard a guess at no.
    All the best.

    Paul,

In my opinion there is a big difference and it may be "attainable" but it isn't "sustainable".

I believe my statement was taken very much out of context. I won't get involved in debating the issue, and was simply commenting on the QOTD. The debate will go on and on ... mine was simply sharing personal experience.

In my personal experience, It isn't difficult to prospect, sponsor, or enroll using IM. The difference is huge once you've experienced the difference between building a successful business using "old school" vs "new school" and take a look at the solid bonding and culture created by what some like to call old school, there's no comparison.

I agree 1000% with Randy Gage and Tony Scarcia ... that you cannot (never seen anyone that has yet, and doub't I ever will) build the solid, sustainable duplication where you can walk away and continue to be paid year after year. The income will eventually stop as Tony says, I believe.

If advertising, PPC etc was all it took to build a network marketing business, why would companies need (or want) distributors?

It's the relationships, loyalty and culture and I personally believe that can, or will, ever be possible online.

Paul, I wish you all the best in your business!

Eric & Randy ... I can't wait to listen to tomorrows episode!
  • I love Randy's approach....shake them up.
    Till tomorrow.....you're biggest fan.
  • I really enjoy listening to the two of you. It's not just the sounds of 'home' either. I have a presence on all the social media sites and I have not completely learned how to 'filter' out the ding-a-lings who lead with a pitch and never start the relationship dance.

QOTD: I will use Randy’s approach the next couple days with a few and see what develops.
  • paulcopiernl
QOTD: Yes i do and yes i did it just recently... it's working perfect to get them focused!
  • bartikelo
Eric I would love to learn about your prospecting and sponsoring strategies.
  • bigbusy
This is GREAT!!! Social media now has a new meaning of use to me.
  • Randy basically makes the point that I have been driving home myself that whether you are doing MLM Online or offline, at the end of the day its all about building relationships with people. Perry Belcher and many people that are involved in Social Media are not "Network Marketers", but even they are doing the same thing - essentially.

Social networking has changed network marketing forever, because now you can build relationships online vs. only offline, but there is a right way and a wrong way to do it. Spamming everyone about your opportunity will not work, but leading people to websites that offer valuable information like a blog will work. I've also tested giving away free Video Bootcamps and e-books and that can be just as effective.
  • I've been on that elevator ride with Randy that Eric talked about. I think I asked him about his tie. AND HE"S RIGHT! Thanks for this great content on here. keep it up.. I'm sure tomorrow will be just as great or better.

QOTD: I have used this approach once or twice. But only with people who are open minded as a rule. Mule headed is one thing. Being a know it all and closed minded is quite another. I do have a couple of friends I'd love to shake and say this to, but neither get the new economy. I have shared the opportunity with both of them. Both just rolled their eyes. I've since started limiting my time with both of these people.
  • Great videos Eric,

Too many people abuse social media and it gets irritating.

I still think that using an incredible online sales funnel can make the internet world MUCH easier, though. Like I use, for example, I sponsor people from social media at least once per week who just give me a call after they've looked through my online presentations:

    Keep the videos rockin'

Thank you for this third part of the interview. You were still in Amsterdam, when filming this. You have seen quite a bit of my lovely city (I was born there, but living just a bit outside of Amsterdam)! Good for you! And Randy!

QOTD: I did certainly not try this. I am to shy also, to try this, I am afraid. But I will develop myself to the level where I can do this! I am growing, thanks to everything you both are learning me.

    Best regards
    Stella
  • I have many people in my sights who I want to use Randy's approach with (one being my beautiful wife...lol.) Great interview I love it when you guys get together.
Just an afterthought, I have probably committed an inexcusable act. I OPTED OUT OF TWITTER, ok now you all know, I still believe the World will continue. Lol!
  • Pat Chipperfield
    Hey Eric....
Of all the interviews with all sorts of people, Randy has to be one of the most interesting.
His no nonsense approach is refreshing.
I have read his book a dozen times now & find myself learning something new each time.
Eric......this is the place to be...thank you so much.
P.S......was on a webinar last night and I couldn't stand the "dribble" coming from the speakers mouth any longer.......so I typed in this statement for ALL to see......NETWORK MARKETING PROFESSIONALS DO NOT SPAM THEIR BUSINESSES ON SOCIAL MEDIA......
  • Very useful Eric. Thanks for mailing me link to this. I have enjoyed first 3 parts of the interview with Randy.

Thank you so much for the first 3 discussions with Randy. I have learned quite a bit from them. I also want to thank you for being in Amsterdam. I have always wanted to go to Holland, as I have some relatives there, but it was great to see part of it just from the boat ride. I will eventually get there to visit.
