NMPRO #116 – Earl Shaw Interview 1 of 4

August 10th, 2009 Email This

I think you are going to LOVE this interview with my good friend and million dollar annual earner, Mr. Earl Shaw.  One of the most remarkable stories I’ve ever heard on getting started in our profession, followed by awesome training on how to succeed.  Assignment of the Day (AOTD):  Talk to someone who might have ITC disease about your opportunity TODAY!

Had to read the comments to see what ITC disease was. Couldn't find it on the internet. Mr. Shaw speaks too fast. I could not catch much of what he said.

Earl Shaw is one of the great story tellers of all times! I enjoyed working with him in Family of Eagles in the 90s. What an amazing guy!
  • Love this interview and Earl is a sharp guy. Experience talking.
  • Great videos, especially You Can Do This...we all need a little pep talk now and then. Thank you.
  • Really appreciate you "you can do it" video...have been feeling alone. Like the Earl Shaw videos also.

I certainly have my day cut out for me with the Assignment of the Day..love the ITC disease story. Thanks Earl.

And as always thank you Eric.
  • ITC = "I'm Too Cool"

    VERY FUNNY!!!!!

If your "WHY" is big enough, the how will come! (That's good)

You know, that is really a very profound statement. So what does that really mean????

Do, we have to be in foreclosure like millions, (I'm not).

Do, we have to be arrested and in jail???? (I'm not).

Do, we have to be facing a business collapse??? ( I haven't).

For the majority of people their WHY is not there in terms of a "negative" event in their life. They definitely
have ITC. I say they're in the itc club (I'm too comfortable) club.

What now????? Are we really going to bug our friends and family members day in and out and we aren't making any money???? We haven't made one single dollar. Just because we have a HUGE why/ We have a vision of what could be a better life for us and them. How many times will we call them??? Is this really a viable plan of action making a list of friend and family members. Will we get lucky??? Or should we be learning new school methods? Integrating the old with the new school?

Go back and listen to Lisa's interview Part 3 from minute 4:30 to 6:15. She talks about the "take away."

Here we have Earl, who's lost everything and we call him for the 100th time and say "Earl, you've lost the business, you've lost the mansion and the cars. You're living in a trailer, how long will your gorgeous blond stay with you??? Are you just too stupid or what???? (This is target marketing at it's best)

This scenario isn't present for most of us in terms of friends and family. Nor do we have the checks to flash in front of an Earl to make it happen. How do we attract and recruit an Earl?????

How do we form the "posture" to approach an Earl, (who has a huge WHY, of why he should be doing the business.)

ITC should be "I'm Too Comfortable" because that's really what are prospects are telling us. (Not now, my WHY is not big enough for me to do a "pyramid scheme.)

Eric, great start to another great interview.

We really need a forum board to dig deeper in to what these mega earners are truely saying!

One thing is very clear to me. The people that pursued them "TARGETED" them! They were persistent in their pursuit of their quarry!

    Thanks, Paul
  • Amazing Story. I couldn't help but LOL at Earl's tragedy and his ITC Disease. Reminds me of how I thought back when I was 19 and met with an Amway Distributor at a Denny's in North Hollywood, CA.
  • Wow, what a great story.
Mr. Shaw is quite the character.
    TC disease...I love it, haha!
Can't wait to see the rest. Thanks, Eric!
  • ITC... great. I may have some of that disease somewhere in my system....
Great story- REALLY looking forward to the rest of it.

Yes, that ITC disease is "catchin" (Texas term for contagious) But we have learned, there is a cure!
  • Dundie Shaw Crisp
Hi Earl & Eric, it's me :) the girl who was standing in the middle of the empty livingrm cryin'~! Yep, & in the trailer house on a dirt road, not a blacktop road within miles! Yes 22 yrs ago! This industry changed our lives because we were willing to take a risk on our own ability to perform & saw a glimmer of hope for changing our circumstances! Sharing our stories gives people hope & inspires people to action! After 17 yrs of marriage to Earl, millions in earnings, priceless relationships that are strong to this day, & countless lives that we were able to touch and be touched by... I will never be the same! Press on Earl! We are in the life changing business & I am thankful! Very!
  • >>We are in the life changing business & I am thankful! Very!<<

    Dundie, that's a great statement.

I have a question for you:

How eager were you for Earl to join an MLM?

I would love to have Eric, interview you and hear your story. Too many of us have wives or husbands that are not behind us. My wife has seen the checks come and go and even said "did the check come?"

Still she's a non believer. What's your story??? When did you jump on board and become a believer?

    Thanks, Paul
  • Dundie Shaw Crisp
    Hi Paul,

Yes, I am! My husband's name is Bob Crisp, but there's more than one Bob Crisp in our great industry~!!! The Bob you are thinking of... the Amway mega earner... from California~ is not my Bob. However, as the saga continues, my Bob Crisp was sponsored by that Bob Crisp years ago in another company. Yeah... funny world!
I was in network marketing long before Earl & I were married in '83 and signed up in nsa in Sept of '87. I was a student of the industry all my life, first in Amway in 1979 and a couple other MLM companies before meeting MR. Shaw as I called him back then : ) Not a big earner back then, but a big believer and visionary.. knowing the preciousness of time. there is much more to my story and my WHY, & it exists in the mansion on the hill or in the trailer house... and every day along the journey. Earl is amazing. His gift to help people laugh and cry and think & dream! He's still family. We all love him. And life is great!
  • That's wonderful that you guys can still communicate and appreciate each other!

    Paul
  • ericworre
There can be only ONE Dundie! :) How ARE YOU??? It's been too long woman! Thanks for commenting. It's so nice to see your smiling face.

Hope we can catch up soon in person.

    Eric
  • Dundie Shaw Crisp
You are the best! I love what you are doing Eric! All is well~! Thanks a million! Blessings, Dundie
  • Hey Dundie! Thanks so much for chiming in here! I look forward to hearing the rest of the story- welcome!
  • Dundie Shaw Crisp
    Thanks a million !
  • Great story... I see a pattern in all of these interviewees.. Each of them had to get over themselves before they became successful.. Sounds Like ITC keeps even new NM from going pro.. at first. thanks for passing on the knowledge.
  • Persistence..... required to get through the 99 failures for every success.
  • Enrique
There is a pattern I am starting to see. Pressure (100 calls) or be consistent on wanting people to see the business before they make a decision. The top distributor in my company was called 50 times before he decided to take a look. I guess, you can do this with friends but not with strangers.
  • every video gives important tips and motivation...enjoyed them all and will Take Action!!
  • Enrique
    He is a riot.
  • I am looking forward to seeing "the rest of the story"...

    Thank you!
  • Steve Weaver
Wow - Great Eric! Thanks. (very relatable)
  • Nice one Eric & Earl. Yes... Never Say Die. Rock on to even greater success everyone.
  • There's a lot of them about!
  • There they are again, the magical 2 phrases: "the 100th phone call" and "they called at the right time".
  • Earl Shaw's story will resonate with THOUSANDS of people...I know it did for me...Excellent interview...LOVE the ITC disease !!
  • What is ITC?
  • ericworre
You'll find out in the interview. :) At the end of this first segment.
