Great info. Have to program it in my head. QOTD? I would have a hard time choosing, I love cereal, can easily eat it every day, breakfast or dinner!!!
  • I always ponder about this "do I have confidence" question. I am confident in a few areas in my life (love coaching and being a good wife/daughter/friend) but it's with only a couple of things (and the important ones to me which are public speaking and network marketing) that I somehow get caught up into looking for that confidence!

Thank you Eric for the reminder... I take myself too seriously sometimes and will remember that everything we do can be thought of as a "learning experience."

"For things to change, you have to change" - I was fortunate to work closely with Jim Rohn for a few years and I absolutely love hearing his voice and words over and over. It may make me feel great for that moment but putting the wisdom into daily action is the key to making a change or a difference. It will hence increase my confidence in this profession. I know this stuff... but I need to be reminded! Yikes. I'll make it a habit!

QOTD: I don't have cereal for breakfast now but I used to really love Sugar Pops with lots of cold milk!!
  • I've been listening to Jim Rohn for about 6 years now and never get tired of him. In my personal experience there seem to be lots of people in network marketing who never really embrace the personal development - ie; they listen when you make a point of recommending they do, then there are those who listen and love it but like you say seem to never get into using it (not really about them they think I guess!)

Then there's the guys who listen at every opportunity and try to apply it as much as possible. Sometimes I think gosh how much of this stuff do I need to learn? How many hours and years do I invest to get really good?

And the answer is of course that it is a continuous learning experience so if we can become lovers of learning and also lovers of applying personal development, it becomes such a joy and not a chore as so many seem to feel.

Thanks for all you do Eric. I'm sure you are a lifeline for so many guys out there who don't have this calibre of training and inspiration any place else.

My fave breakfast cereal is Alpen. :)

I am one with the "old-schools" beliefs.
I have less confidence in all the "new" approaches to do Network Marketing, like spamming people by email, websites, sending out countless flyers in your neighborhood, massive exposures in shopping malls etc, etc.

I really believe Network Marketing is about building relationships, talking to people, doing presentations for small groups, showing my downlines how to become successful.

The same with my cereal; for me the good old "K" Cornflakes...
  • Hey Ido

I think the trainers with the 'new approach' would view spamming, flyers and shopping mals as the old school lol. It's an endless debate but most of the objections seem to be caused by misunderstanding of what the best of the old school and the best of the new school teach. I like to think I'm not old or new school - just in school. :)

Great point about personal development - Brian Tracy says that the best way to really learn something is to go out and teach it to someone else (I guess that's why you said you were getting the most value from this, Eric!)

I think the reason that people sometimes worry too much about having "bad" experiences is that they have their expectations set too high about how long it should take - maybe they went full time too early, and now are worried that if they don't get a certain result right now, they're not going to be able to pay their bills this month. The problem with that line of thinking is that it's counterproductive. People can smell desperation, and if you convey to someone that you need them to join your business, they won't want to join you!

I really agree with this idea of experimenting. Being impatient with your process is not going to make your business grow any faster, trust me I know. The reality is that some people blow this out of the water in their first few months, and I'm happy for those people, but success tastes even sweeter for the ones who took longer to get there. I have heard top earners say that EVERYTHING they went through was worth it to be where they are now, so if you're feeling discouraged, don't - just think of it as part of your story. And the more "learning experiences" you have, the more interesting your story will be. Remember that the only way you can ever lose in this business is if you Quit!!!

"Winners never quit and quitters never win" - Napolean Hill

QOTD: I was never a fan of cold cereal, but I love the frozen steel-cut oatmeal at Trader Joes - cooks up in 2 minutes!

That's a very important point....turning what you learn into what you do!
I too like the example of using a line or quote in a real life situation.

Special K, I heard from one of my customer is good for weight loss, is that correct?
  • ha, i don't know about that... maybe. I had it when I was visiting my grandparents house and found I liked it
  • Most things are ok for weight loss if you don't eat too much of them and move around a bit afterwards!
  • Your videos are very insightful. Keep up the good work.Kellogs Frosted Cornflakes.
  • It has been a long time since I ate cereal for breakfast. I remember wishing for another bowl of Cream of Wheat however.

Excellent video blog today. Loved it. I find that when I am doing and using my personal development things go good, but when I don't, things don't.
Best all time cereal? Hmmm...I love oatmeal with brown sugar and maple syrup myself, but have occasionally gone for the Lucky Charms and Capn Crunch:)
