It's easy not to buy any stories but at the same time you have to be careful so you don't sound like a desperate salesman trying to convince them why they should be there.

I have a hard time with this one. When I tell someone I don't have the money or time. I am not lying. People who try to push me make me mad so I feel uncomfortable doing it to someone else.
  • chiatkhor
I used to buy a lot of story. I will not anymore. Thanks.
  • onemartymac
That might be the best one I have watched so far! Thanks

    Your Right :)
  • Thanks for shining a bright beacon on our industry.

Very true, eRci. We buy excuses because we do not want to be rude, or pushy. I used to do that. Now I will change my approach and know that my bsuienss will change, as a result. Thanks.
  • Thanks, Eric. I have never looked at it quite that way. When I think of the "I don't have the money" thing people say, I say.. "If your car broke down today, could you get the money to get it fixed?" If your best wife got locked up in jail.. Would you get the money to get her out? Hey, why not get started now and build that income so you won't have to beg, borrow or steal when you need it.. Where there is a will there is a way!!

    Dear Eric,
In the last week I spoke with 8 prospects and I want to tell you that I bought so many stories, I didn't have room for them in my "basket", in my head. Thank you so much for this lesson. I defenatly know that we have a better way, I defenatly know that I have a unique present to offer them! You put it into my face that I am buying too many stories. I'm going to work on it and change it!!! your project does improve my skills as NMPRO. THANK YOU SO MUCH.

    Hi Eric,

I honestly believe your training and mentoring on this website is outstanding. I have researched and researched so many network marketing training websites that my head is spinning. I like the fact that your information is straight to the point with no hype. I see a lot of leaders are tuning into this site which is fantastic.

Keep up the good work mate. Our profession can truly change lives as long as we all become network marketing professionals.
  • Great advice! Just don't want to twist anyone's arm too much, be more of a consultant vs. salesman.
  • Good stuff Eric! QOTD: Yes I am... Thanks for the reminder. Stop buying and start selling
  • Thank you Eric for so useful reminfer.
I have to admit that I really "buy" too much from prospects and even from my partners. I 'd better be more focused on my purposes. The hardest part is to SHOW the better way, it requires energy and complete confidence.
Your videos Eric are very helpful as you're generously sharing your energy and confidence with us.
    Thanks a lot.
  • It's a fact: We do have a better way...just share your opportunity with passion and attitude to the world. Thanks for another nice show Eric. Best regards, your biggest fan.
  • Great City and Great Point! We are constantly shopping. and buying... It's time to take note and sell only to the right people. Positive, upbeat, willing to look AND of course... other shoppers... don't buy into their excuses. Carefully listen and gently show them that we have another way... a better way.. as I did and continue to do...

    Thank You Eric!

I like the response to "I don't have the money" with "What are you doing now to solve that problem?"
I also like the response to " I don't have the time" with " Maybe you should take the time"

The two most prevalent comments that I run into every day.

Darn it. I love this site. Good info every single day.

Unfortunately that is true. I was raised to be sensitive to other people's attitudes and wishes. By opposing them I feel I'm putting myself up for rejection and building myself a negative reputation. I understand my wording and attitude are very important when I say: "I'm not buying your story". How can I say this without causing a negative feeling in my prospect? Without offending them?

On the other hand, if I can eventually get it through my head that "we have a better way" and by NOT introducing them to it I'm actually depriving them of the great life they can have - I will eventually develop the posture of "I'm not buying your story" - because it's really only a bunch of excuses!
  • Eric, identifying those who are a yes to what we have to offer is a 'flip of the switch' from what most do to identify all the people who will be a no. Maybe buying their prospects excuses is a source of something to look at.
  • QOTD: It depends. At the beginning of the process, if someone tells me they aren't interested and they haven't even looked at anything yet, that clearly shows me that their "door of receptivity" is closed. So rather then try to "sell" them that they really are interested, I move on to the next person. I may come back to them 6 months from now and see if the door is open. Or I may never get back to them because I have so many other prospects to work with.

If we are towards the end of the process, I'm a little more likely to challenge them because I know that if they weren't looking, we would have never gotten this far in the process to begin with.

As for my distributors, no I don't buy their story at all unless it is a really compelling one (i.e. My wife is 9 months pregnant and she is due during the week of the convention)
  • I like shopping, and some of my prospects sell some really great stuff!
  • tyronet
You know what? I'm not buying any of it... anymore that is! Thanks for the eye opener Eric!
  • donham298
Keep it coming. I am buying from you.
  • jaimemorales
I remember when you rang the bell..

I'm buying your message today Eric.. Awesome job..
  • Hope you are enjoying the Big Apple Eric ;-) .... great MESSage today !! I am so guilty of buying too much ... I appreciate the "let me explain why ... " Time to get on the right side of the sales platform !!
  • ritafulton
Yeah, I have been buying too much so far by running numbers and the "Some Will Some Won't Some What some Will" training I started my profession; however, I am learning that as a NWM Pro I am obligated to expose people to a "better way" and let them make their choice. If I am more passionate about exposing to better way, I'll be buying more "wisely".

Thank you Eric for making this point so THERE.
  • Very creative Eric....Stock Exchange....buying and selling. I love it! :)
QOTD: I've definitely been guilty of "buying" too much -- heck, I buy EVERYTHING...throw it all in the cart, I'll take it all. Haha! I guess that's why I have no resources left to "buy" only what I really NEED! Hmmmm. Definitely time for a shift in this area.
    Thanks, Eric.
  • Jillian
Yeah Yeah Yeah - I am buying the whole enchilada. Thanks and let me explain to you it is going to change from this moment forth!
