NMPRO #155 – Gary Vaynerchuk Interview 1 of 4

October 12th, 2009 Email This

In February of 2009, I paid Gary $10,000 for two hours of personal consulting.  The result was the creation of Network Marketing Pro.  Because Gary has a brand new book being released October 13th (and all of you should buy it by going to http://www.amazon.com/Crush-Time-Cash-Your-Passion/dp/0061914177/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpi_1), I was able to convince him to sit down and talk with me for almost an entire hour.  The result is, I’ve given each of YOU the ability to get over $5,000 of consulting value absolutely FREE through this series.  The entire interview is approximately 48 minutes in length, so I’ve broken it down into 4 shows of about 12 minutes each.  In today’s show we discuss his background, the power of authenticity, how MLM can overcome it’s image challenges and how good can win!  Help spread the word every way possible.

I wish I could hear him better. You come through clearly.
  • jimtanner
Discovered gary because Randy Gage put a video of his on facebook. Fast forward one year later I'm at Gary's first book signing in NYC and got to hang with the man himself at an after party.

Do not miss out on this book! If you can see him speak live don't miss that opportunity either

  • Terrific!
  • I was never comfortable with fake it till you make it.. I think authenticity is so important! Gary is so right about the 90 year old on their death bed. You won't be lying there thinking I wish I'd made more money. Legacy is definitely better than currency! These videos are fantastic! And niche is definitely pronounced correctly in the UK - LOL
  • Eric,
Gary is a blast! My whole team is on board with this... thanks..
  • johnspardella
Wow Wow Wow!!! I am learning so much from this show. Eric, I've known of you and your work for 20+ years. Thank you so much for this medium and the content in it. This interview with Gary Vaynerchuk was one of the best and I haven't even seen parts 2, 3, & 4. I can't wait.
  • ritafulton
    Eric,

I have been traveling so got to this interview late. WOW, is all I can say. Get the book!

Words can not say thank you enough.
  • gerardm
holy shit sorry i had to cuss this is the bomb!!!!
  • Eric thanks for the great content once again. Since I got started in social media several months back, Gary Vee has been a real role model. It was inspiring to see someone of his caliber address the Network Marketing community. Thanks again!
  • Rasul
What is so great about this series so far is the reality that comes through. All the tricks online or offline that worked in the past, don't work anymore (not that they ever did long term). It's all about authenticity, thank God!
  • Although I get more from the one on one sessions . These interviews are great. It's fun and interesting finding the common links of the people you interview on here. • Great show.
  • Awesome show and start to the week. I love the idea of legacy is greater than currency. It is so true.
Heres to everyone following their true passion and creating great success for themselves and many around them.
Go out and show the world that there is a better way!
    God Bless!
  • alexanderpadilla
Great show. Appreciate you introducing us to Gary. The message I got was to take my business knowledge and apply it to my passion. Cashing dollars is not the formula, but chasing your passion. Thanks.
  • mspaulamc
    Looking forward to 2-3-4 :)
  • Great stuff Eric. I always figured you modeled this show after Gary's, I just had no idea he was directly involved.
I'm so excited about this interview....NMPro and the Wine Library are the only two shows I try to catch regularly!

Prostitution instead of marriage, LOL!....what a great line.
    Can't wait for part 2!

  • Hey Eric, I knew that you were studying Gary...you are using the same language over the last few months, good on you! I have seen every NMPRO video and every Gary Vaynerchuk video and keynote. You are both awesome!
  • ericworre
Every single one? Now that's commitment!
  • Passion is the Focus! Without the "love" there is no permanency to the future!
  • ericworre
    That's a fact
  • I keep two main things:

    1) If you follow cash, it doesn't work, you have to follow your passion.
    2) If you just spam people or don't build relationships prior to exposing them to your business it's prostitution instead of marriage. IT DOESN'T WORK.

Awesome show, I will definitely be buying this book. Perhaps if I incorporate my passion for branding myself I can get to know so many people like me that would like to pursue their dreams, and let them know I have a way.

    Thanks, as always, Eric
  • ericworre
    Love the Prostitution/Marriage analogy
  • bethascoli
    Me too!
  • Authenticity ... being who you are, is not how we were trained and schooled. You offered me that option when we first met last year as the path to success was just be me. It is a lot easier. It’s going to be a great week at NWP.
  • ericworre
    Yes it is my friend
  • bethascoli
I only first heard about Gary a couple of weeks ago when I heard him on the Dr. Oz radio show, and I was instantly mesmerized listening to him. Since then I've been trying to learn all I can about him, and from him. What a surprise to learn that he was part of the inspiration for this show, which has been the best thing that has happened for me and for my business - for that, I extend my gratitude to him. Thank you Eric and Gary, I can't wait for the rest of the shows!

"Legacy is more important than currency" - I love that quote and I believe it!
  • ericworre
    We're all connected. :)
  • lisaqcd
WOW I CAN NOT WAIT TO HEAR TOMORROWS EPISODE ... THIS IS GREAT STUFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • ericworre
    Yeah, it gets better :)
  • 10,000$ is a big money that you spent to make this NMPro happen!! I really love watching useful contents that you bring for us :).

    Thanks ERIC & Garry.
  • ez2win
The que is authenticity versus "fake it till you make it". I always felt uncomfortable with this concept, which was encouraged when I first discovered MLM. As an individual I have so much to offer, why shouldn't I be myself? (this is true for most people)
  • I think "fake it till you make it" is different from "act as a successful people from day one". I think that's the approach we all must encourage, not so much the faking part... but the "believe in yourself first" part... believe you can do it and you will do it.

This is what I encourage my downline to believe... and act accordingly.
  • bellabodynow
    I totally agree!
  • ez2win
Right you are, Yendi. We must first believe in ourselves. Personal Development is a huge part of MLM, business and life in general. As a language teacher I know the value of words. I feel those words are misleading - self-confidence - yes - conning others into believing you are that which you are not - definitely no.
    I appreciate your enthusiasm.
  • Misleading is the keyword here... we have to be very careful as leaders in this industry with that concept. Make sure the concepts get's through correctly, as you very well said.

    :)
  • ez2win
So we are like-minded, Yendi. I wish you success building your NM organization. With your great attitude I know you'll get to the top.
  • Hey gentlemen!!!! What an amaaaaazing show. I'm looking for the next one tomorrow. Have a nice day both of you....Regards from your biggest fan.
  • Gary V is the man!
  • "There is no VALUE in me not being me" - Gary V

    "How Cool Is That"!

    can't wait for shows 2-4

Intersting, after reading many books and listening to many audios that claim to know the future of network marketing, not one person has had the insight that I just heard from Gary. This new world that we live in (social media, blogs, twitter, facebook, etc.) is adding the transparacy that this industry needs. I've heard it said that the best thing about NW is that anyone can do and the worst thing about NW is that anyone can do it. There has never until now existed a way for the general public to differentiate between the true entreprenurial visionary and the guy trying to make the fast buck. The rules have changed and the good guys will win. We do have a better way!
  • I really look forward to the rest of this. I would like to see Eric's version of "This is Cat Pee!"

You probably couldn't go around bad-mouthing stuff, but I know you must have a ton of negative feelings on a bunch of different stuff.
  • billrogers
Unvelievable! So much input. Thanks Eric for sharing!
  • What a lovely surprise to hear from Gary. I was mesmerized the first time I saw one of his videos. No wonder NM Pro has been such a success, aside from your obvious passion to share the NM message. I'm definitely going to grab his book - it will be right up there with Tribes I bet.

The issue for most is figuring out what their passion actually is. And yes we are very particular about our 'niche' in the UK. LOL!

Social media allows everyone to have their own blog (newspaper) tv station (like this) and radio (podcasts) Just for starters and almost free! Most people still have no clue of the kind of leverage they can get using just a blog.
Looking forward to the next segments. :)
  • drdavidkamnitzer
    Eric...How are you monetizing NMPro?

$10,000 is a lot to pay....

    DK
  • It's all about branding himself. Will be multiplied, definitely. It's about building a relationship with an audience... not chasing the cash.
  • i've been looking fwd to this interview since I knew you were doing it. Gary's got great content for us and I'm looking fwd to the rest. I orderd my Crush It book.
  • This Show ROCKS Eric/Gary! Thanks for the content.. Looking forward to the rest of the show. :) HAPPY THANKSGIVING CANADIAN FRIENDS.. :)
  • enrique62
    Eric:
How do you connect your passion to NW?If your passion is to see the Minnesotta Vikings play from the best seats in the stadium,How do you motivated yourself to promote your company?
  • stellawebber
Great show again, thanks Eric and Gary! Love to see the next shows!
    Kind regards

  • gabriel
    awesome stuff.
    good job sir.
  • ido_aronson
Wow Eric, this is SO refreshing.
    Really cool stuff.
Landing pages, SEO etc... Who needs that ?! It's all about PASSION !!! Isn't that great!?
We should actually do what we love. THAT is what will grow us.

So in short: Can't wait for part 2, 3 and 4.
    Cheers!
    Ido
  • SEO happens when you get lots of content out there around the same keywords (ie; your passion.) Most don't get content out there because they think its not duplicable for NM. Landing pages are just a very simple function of maximizing all the effort and building a stronger relationship with your followers. After all you can't send out your 'newspaper' if you don't know who your readers are. :)
