  • I may not comment frequently, but I refer many, many people to your daily teaching sessions. Your commitment and passion for the business, certainly help to pull us through those rough times.
  • OK I want to be like Oprah ...I'm taking the dream of my private or at least chartered jet back...thanks guys! Why the heck not? So brussel sprouts it is for now! hold the chocolate..even the healthier stuff!
  • Big Dream! That's the name of the game.. Keep your eye on the prize!
  • joegarcia
Eric just came across a video of you dating back to 1988 with hair LOL, you were pretty good back then. Great interview keep up the great work.
  • Fantastic stuff. It's mind expanding! I feel like my thoughts and ideas are circling in ever decreasing circles around my centre. The drive and the motivation come into the centre and move forward.
    You are motivational!
I thank you , i find myself quoting you and expressing your thoughts and opinions as if they were my own. . they have become my thoughts too. . . thanks to you. Although i always give credit to you and recommend your site. M
  • What do you think of Tim Sales? would love to see you interview him.
  • Wow, 5 Billion dollars. I love Gary but if I was a betting man those just seems like some irrational odds.
  • jeffram
What you are doing for this industry is awesome...I am hooked
  • DREAM BIG!! -- Priceless.--- Your advice of hustle and being patient reminds me of one of John Wooden's more famous saying: " Be Quick (Hustle) but Don't Hurry (patience)" .. Thank you for your reinforcement...

Eric you and Gary work together great.. Reminds me of you and Randy Gage on stage or on previous NM Pro episodes..
  • Great show..yeah...yeah!! The two of you together is really awesome. Take care guys. Best regards...your biggest fan.
  • Dreams - and Passion = Hustle
It is what makes it roll like we do - if you have nothing to look forward to - to thrive for you will go through life hum drum.

My dreams are coming true one trickle at a time.
  • I saw you on NBC this morning in Chicago! Awesome!
  • I have been studying procrastination, mine, for some time. The 'big dream' is often offered as the solution to the problem. I read where everyone procrastinates. Watching Gary I have to say he may be the one in 7 billion who doesn’t ever procrastinate. Getting procrastination as a symptom suggests a key to identifying the “Big Dream” is where and what happens without procrastination appearing. What would have to be possible for you, how could you align your current skill set to accomplish the “Big Dream?” This is not a goal, which is measurable in time, but something that calls your name from a deep sleep. Every time I have caught my biggest dream without having a bigger one already in place I have spent far too much time smelling the roses gathering thorn cuts. Something more than Death by Chocolate ice cream is calling my name. I have not brought it into crystal clear focus but it’s getting closer.

    Awesome show!

I realized my Passion for Network Marketing when I realized that I could win $1 Million dollars at McDonald's right now and I'd still go show the plan tonight.

QOTD: I AM doing what I'm passionate about. Network Marketing for me goes way beyond the income potential. For me it's a mission. I grew up poor with both parents working 80 hrs a week, worse yet I grew up mentally poor. I would have given anything to have my parents around. I can only imagine the impact of being exposed to personal development when I was 10 years old instead of at 20 years old. I can't change my past, but I can make sure my kids have a better future. I can help countless parents be with their children, personal development can become a family mantra that helps mold the children that will run the world tomorrow. There is no higher purpose than service on to others, I can do that through Network Marketing.

Gene Roddenbery (creator of Star Trek) once shared his vision of the future, "In the future, there will be no hunger, there will be no greed, and every child will know how to read." It doesn't take alot to change the world, sometimes it's just 1 person, 1 idea, or 1 movement. We DO have a better way, now let's go tell the world.

    The Network Marketing Professional.

Learning to earn, response-ability, playing 100% - getting my attitude right...linking into my DREAM and the values which matter. Slow burn can work best - 'never mind the width, feel the quality'
  • stevepohlit
There are several principles that I have concluded are important for me. I write from that view since what is important to you may be different.

Big Ideas - Gary is very specific and is visual as to one of his big ideas. The Jets. For my big ideas I too am very specific and visual. I am also open to following the messages that I am intended to receive because no matter how specific my ideas are, I may be intended to receive something that is even more meaningful. I suggest being open to receive.

Knowing - great topic and love this part of the discussion. Thank you Eric and Gary. Here again is where I remain open. With my experience I know the key fundamentals of successful business. I have worked in them, I have owned them I have started and operated them. All of that has taught me to be aware of the constantly expanding dynamics and to discuss with other experts before finalizing certain key conclusions. This is different from what Eric and Gary said. I never conclude I know something "cold". I may be very confident but I remain open to an expanded and even an opposing view.

    Enjoying this series.

    Thank you
  • I am just loving this interview.....thanks Eric!
There is so many gold nuggets in here, I'll definitely be watching this whole thing again.

Just from the fact that Gary doesn't think his book deal is a very big thing, shows how BIG he really thinks and also how IMPORTANT it is to dream and think BIG......actually, HUGE!!
Does anybody doubt that he will one day own the Jets? We can all learn from that attitude.
    Awesome!
  • ethelmrichardson
Great job Eric. I realize more of my short falls with each segment. Today I will start to be a student. I saw this guy on one of the talk shows.
  • alexanderpadilla
All I can say is WOW! Thank you both for sharing some tremendous concepts and perspective on how to succeed.
Gary just threw a few more logs into my fireplace.
  • OK, here's the thing- I went and saw Vaynerchuk yesterday at a Borders here in Columbus Circle. I bought the book too, and read it in an hour.

There is NOTHING in the book that internet MLMers haven't been doing for 3 years now.

    NOTHING.

He just happened to do it with WINE, so the crowd who experienced it made him a star. With us, it's just part of doing business. He doesn't even mention TrafficGeyser- I'm convinced that he's BEHIND the curve compared to a lot of the mlm players out there.

Here's the next part- He is NEGATIVE on mlm- big time.

    BIG TIME.

Eric- I get it that you see this guy doing something, and you paid him $10,000 to tell you something several of us have been saying for a while now, but the end of the matter is that what he's talking about is NOT duplicable for our business model.

It's NOT "A large group of people doing a few simple actions"- it's ONE person working their face off.

So, I go out there and make an internet show about being an actor, and star trek, and writing, etc. Then have some link to my MLM, sure- that might work, but what will the people I sponsor do? People in YOUR downline are doing "mlm shows" too now- that's just not duplicable.
  • As you often are Bones you are bang on the money with this.

Perry Belcher was saying all this stuff on a course I took 9 months ago. Mike Dillard has been saying it for 4 years. Gary is awesome but as Russell Brunson says - apply internet marketing to other industries and people are blown away cause most are not doing it.

I love all this stuff and had to find a way to make it simple online so my team can get going too without being super geeks. I'm doing it and that is my passion but yes there is a danger for most in that may now think just by blogging about fishing they will develop a great NM brand! In reality there is a lot of skills to develop here.
  • Excellent points Bones! Internet Marketing MLM distributors have been saying this for years. The only problem that I have with most of them is all of the negative foolishness that a lot of them spout such as "making a list doesn't work" and "traditional MLM doesn't work" and crap like that. That's dirty marketing and that's why I believe a lot of people like Eric really weren't receptive to their message, despite the fact that there is a lot of truth to what they have to say after you get beyond the dirty marketing.

I've learned how to "chew the meat and spit out the bones" so to speak with that crowd and I think the same applies here.

The key takeaway I get out of this, which does apply to our business model is you want to immerse yourself in whatever you are passionate about. If you do that without necessarily worried about where the money is going to come from, you will find that the money attracts itself to you.

Perfect example is Sole from the night we watched the game at ESPN with Eric. I never pitched her about Pre-Paid Legal. All I did was made friends with her on Facebook and wrote and tweeted about stuff that I was passionate about. She did her own research, found out I was in Pre-Paid Legal and she came to me, DESPITE the fact that there were plenty of other people who pitched her on Pre-Paid Legal.

I've recruited people and signed up a number of customers doing nothing more than posting comments on OTHER people's discussion boards with a signature link at the bottom. So it's not necessary to create an online community like this one to apply some of the concepts Gary is talking about here.

Also, most of your downline is not going to be able to do a show like Network Marketing Pro. However, everyone can immerse themselves in what they are passionate about. If you are into Fantasy Baseball, everyone can join a Facebook group about fantasy baseball, comment about it, meet other people who share their interests, build relationships with them and when the time is right share their opportunity. I'm not sure if you remember when Randy Gage talked about how he uses social media to recruit, but I think that's the model that the masses can do.
  • I replied further down...
  • alexanderpadilla
What is duplicatable is that each of us needs to amp up our passion and focus on what we are doing. If we were more passionate about our mlm business, it would grow. Wiht more perosonla passion we would grow personally, our leadership would grow and people would be attracted to us and what we are doing. Do not dismiss what Gary is saying. It is powerful indeed.

While Gary will never fully understand MLM and what it is we actually do everyday (he can't not having done it), through our conversations and consulting, my read is he's against the "dirty marketing" tactics used by many of them online. The rest of his opinions on the profession come from a common lack of understanding. That's cool with me.

The purpose of consulting with him was to complete a blueprint to create NMPRO in an attempt to take our profession, it's people, and it's image, to a higher level.

The purpose of doing the interview was to showcase that the common themes of success go through many professions, including ours.

I understand that you may feel some of the information is contradictory. For the most part I disagree. As we've discussed before on the 4 levels of duplication, this is level 4 stuff. Level 1 is for everyone. Level 2 is for people with a downline. Level 3 is for people running a local market. Level 4 is for people running large widespread organizations.

What HE'S talking about is bringing content on your passion without trying to instantly sell something or recruit someone right away. Bring value, work hard, be patient and good things will happen.
  • I get the "share your passion" thing- that's why I sell Star Trek books. People buy them personally, online, and whatever- I'm sharing my passion, they notice I'm a Star Trek author, they buy.

When people see my wedding proposal online, they often download my other ebooks.

-I get this better than most people on here.

HOWEVER- Our mlm business is SUPPOSED to be different. When Eric talks about the different levels of work, it makes sense, but is definitely 100% a contradiction in what duplication means- or at least, what it's sold to mean.

There should never need to be beyond a level 1 understanding- "find a few who find a few, etc".
Period end of story. We are CUSTOMERS, not salespeople.

Instead, what you end up with is 1 finding 100, who maybe find 3, and hopefully in there somewhere you find 3 "serious" people- and what does "serious" mean? That they're willing to go sponsor 100 too. Hopefully, they're hooked enough that they refuse to let go, and your leg is "stable".

Replace your own plate-spinning job by finding someone else to spin them downline.

How many people do we have to have quit and then bad-mouth the biz before we figure out that we're doing something wrong? How many enemies do we need to create? For every successful mlmer, there are a hundred failures left in his wake.

Crocs doesn't need a "leader" in each city- people buy them, and tell others WITHOUT a comp plan-
"Where did you get those awfully ugly shoes?". Rubik's cube didn't pay kids to pass it on.

Hotmail didn't need weekly meetings to spread, and neither did facebook, hoola-hoops, or pet rocks.

I'm convinced our whole industry is ass-backwards right now, and is refusing to change with the times.

Vaynerchuk called mlm and "other online opportunities" a "Ladder of desperation, where people leech off of other people hopes", and I'm not sure he was entirely wrong.

It might sound like I'm negative on the biz right now, I'm not- I'm saying that I think all of this "Opportunity" focus and hype is totally ruining the experience and the perception.

I know you're all going to chime in with me right now "Yeah, it's the scammers who are ruining it"- I'm not talking about them- I'm talking about US.

    I'm including myself.

Look, the way that Vaynerchuk's model fits in with us is simple- If you're a rep for "Super-Juice 2000", and it has all these great health benefits, then you go sell yourself as a health expert. You give tips on health, and people buy your juice as a result. I've done that- it works.

BUT THAT IS NOT OUR BUSINESS MODEL. That is not duplication.

If you sell yourself as a "Business opportunity expert", then you'll find people BUYING your business because they believe you know best- That works too- I've done that too. It's what Eric is doing, it's what Randy Gage does, what Big Al, Mike Dillard, Ann Seig, Kim Klaver (read her manifesto!), and the rest of them do.

BUT THAT'S NOT OUR BUSINESS MODEL EITHER.

Why not? Well, because then, the new recruit has to become that health or business expert too- Mike Dillard and his crowd of ebook sellers all position themselves like that by selling Mike Dillard's book, and hiding behind it as if they wrote it.

    (Talk about lack of authenticity.)

What we have is an entire community playing the "More prosperous than thou" game, and "proving" it with cars, profile pictures with suits, business related tweets, vacation pictures, or videos re-saying what someone else said.

    NONE OF THIS IS DUPLICATION.

From the standpoint of an MLM company, it's all SALES. Whatever comp plan, system, or box color brings more REPEAT SALES is best to go with.

If we want to create this new MLM world, where we make people UNDERSTAND what they don't, then all of these fake "positioning" efforts need to stop, as well as the hype of "Everything is always great b/c I'm in the Super-Juice 2000 business".

Do you realize that RETAIL is a business model where the consumer is a SUCKER??? Didn't your grandmother tell you "Never pay retail"? And yet, society is used to it, so WE mlmers look like crazies.

In MLM, we all pay the SAME price for our product- and then get paid based on SALES in your group.

In Retail, the consumer is a SUCKER and pays way more, depending on where they buy from.

Isn't the MLM model more fair?

There is a REASON that the episodes where Eric is talking to PROSPECTS get viewed so much more-
we are trying to make people UNDERSTAND. There is something people don't UNDERSTAND.

When Gandhi or Martin Luther King Jr. went to educate their population, there wasn't talk of "monetizing the audience"- it was all about our common support. How can we SUPPORT each other instead of trying to grab prospects by our catchy "signature lines"?

If you want to make this "Network Marketing Pro" thing a MOVEMENT, and a PARADIGM-CHANGER, then our mission should be to EDUCATE the outsiders, and UPLIFT the insiders.

The other day someone I knew prospected me on a new business (every other day), and I said to myself "This is a great product- too bad I'm loyal to my business and my team", and I didn't even become a customer- which is RIDICULOUS!! Why not be involved in my friend's business if I like the product?

    You already know why.

Because in our KER-AZY mlm world, our totally and non-competing products compete on business opportunity. It's STUPID, but that's our mlm culture.

Don't bother telling me that I'm wrong here.

Why do we have people joining other people anyway?
Shouldn't be about the product or the business itself?

I didn't join facebook because of one particular person- I joined because I heard from MANY people that it was a good thing. I buy Tostitos tortilla chips because I like them- they don't pay me. I own some real estate because I read that it was a good income generator. Neither had anything to do with a home meeting.

On the other hand- I buy PEELED SNACKS because they are my friend's traditional company, but I DON'T buy BORESHA coffee b/c it is my other friend's mlm business. Why not? Shouldn't I be MORE inclined to buy from an mlm company, and JOIN that company if I like the product?

Similarly, we could all be in each other's businesses, and simply consumers of each other's stuff. I don't have legal services, so aren't I a good fit for Pre-paid? I was cleaning my house today (wife comes back soon), and I was lamenting that I didn't have some ol' Amway products I liked.

Our "opportunities" are getting in the way of our MUTUAL prospering.

This is now officially a rant, but after watching Vaynerchuk on here and in person, I think we're doing so many things wrong unnecessarily.

Now you may all start attacking.
  • alexanderpadilla
    ok.
  • Actually not much to attack, you make some great points.

However, in the words of the great Jim Rohn "For things to change, you have to change. For things to get better you have to get better."

I will buy anything from anyone MLM or not if I feel it provides more value than the price tag. I brought Pre-Paid Legal long before becoming a distributor because I felt the product provided more in value than the price. I brought Primerica life insurance and mutual funds because of the same reason. I brought a membership to Send Out Cards for the same reason. Same goes for Ameriplan, same goes for 5LINX, same goes for KIOSK.WS and anything else that I ever brought that uses a MLM business model.

So it all starts with you first becoming the change that you would like to see in the industry.

Then start a video blog about it LOL!
  • Can't argue with Send Out Cards- MAN is THAT a great product or what? I have a distributorship with them too. But that was only the final point of that long rant.
  • Bones I say THANK YOU!

It’s obvious you really put a lot of time, energy and passion into your contributions to this community and for that, I am a fan.

I like how you play devil’s advocate and speak on both sides of an argument and give everyone in the community something to ponder.

That’s all; just keep doing what you do.
  • Man...

    What the heck happened here?

    Is this the second revolution?

Finally I see people stand for their points even if they have to be against what the leaders have been saying for such a long time.

In one of these shows I was the only one to defend that it would make more than sense that if you find another products you need and use, that just happens to have an MLM associated, you should use it too.

Even Paypal has an affiliate program, webcast companies probably 90% of them have affiliate programs and many of us are doing WebCasts...

So that RUN FOR ONE HORSE... it's just not valid anymore. The times have changed and so people.
But there is several valuable information you can get from sites like this.

And the point Gary did was something like GET OUT OF THE SHELL!!!!

Because at the end, that's whats this is all about! If you want to have some success in MLM, you need to TALK to people, to the WORLD!

    You can't be shy!

There's no place in this business world for shy people.

And Bones, If talking to the world is not duplicable... then I have been wrong all my MLM days...

What I think is, Gary said it right: If you want to have success in these times, TALK TO THE WORLD!

    Use the Internet!

    Make it Happen!

And if you thing for a while... if Eric did it, what prevent us to do the same? :)

No offense Eric, you know I like you alot... and Marina and Wendy, of course...

    I'm out of here now!

    Love you all
    Alfredo Rodrigues
  • hahaha- yeah, well- if everyone agrees, why bother talking?
  • hpena
I've heard it said before, "set yourself on fire and people will come watch you burn". This has all happened before and will happen again. Socrates and Plato brought content delivered by spoken word. Religion brought content delivered by written word (i.e. the bible). Oprah brought content delivered by television. President Obama brought content delivered by the Internet.

In Network Marketing, top leaders have branded themselves and shared their passion with the world BG (Before Google). Earl Schoff, Jim Rohn, Dexter Yager, Paul Orberson, Art Williams, Randy Gage, Big Al, Tim Sales, Mark Yarnell, Kim Klaver, Eric Worre etc, have all shared their personal missions. Twitter, Facebook, Ustream, and online video are simply the new methods by which we share our passion. Gary happens to be skilled and knowledgable about this new medium, so we should listen, learn, and apply it to our business.

In terms of duplication, you can still create content and value just through a twitter and facebook account. The impact of passion and the message of hard work go very far during a Private Business Reception. The best Advanced Business Briefing (hotel meetings) are when people realize they'll work with a leader that cares about their success and isn't afraid to put themselves out there no matter what people think. In that respect, I think Gary and Eric lead by example.

    The Network Marketing Professional.

I only wish that Gary had shared more. If his time is so valuable (according to what you paid a long time ago..and he doesn't even do it now) let him tell and teach and share more. Most of the time should have been his.

This has been great...one of the best. I have a vision.!! Thank you Eric.
  • peterburrows
Eric, I think it was yesterday you said that every time you put up a new show you are talking to yourself... and I can understand that. You should be confident also that we, I, get fantastic value from what you and your guests do for us.
I actually think that your work would be of value to people outside our industry. You have made me think about many of my past successes..... and failures for that matter. I am deeply indebted to you. My message to .....keep it up!

Your DREAM must be BIGGER than YOURSELF
  • I am sad I am the first one to comment on this show...
I am not able to tease any of my friends. :(
Hope they tease me instead :).

This Gary made one thing I haven't seen to this moment to happen: Eric was interviewed as well and by having both speaking their minds, the show really got exciting!

Don't get me wrong. I have seen ALL of these shows and if I thought they were not good, I would give them up PRONTO.

I loved ALL the shows, but this kid ig getting me to the tears, hehehe.

Love you Gary, and I am straight :)

Love you all as well, although I can't see anyone here :(

    HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
