NMPRO #162 – The Power of Spaced Repetition

October 27th, 2009 Email This

You don’t learn something when you remember it.  You learn something when you can’t forget it.  That’s where Spaced Repetition becomes powerful.  Re-watching.  Re-listening.  Re-reading.  It’s helped me SO much!  Question of the Day (QOTD):  How many of the Network Marketing Pro shows have you viewed more than once?

The mother of success is repetition :) Do it over and over and over again

Hi Eric, Thank you so much for sharing your expertise with us. I am watching you every day and reviewing past video's on a regular basis. WOW!!! This is really good stuff.
  • AOTD: So far I have watched only 2 of them more than once, but last week after the inspired repetition and value I was getting from the show, I went back in the achieves and started watching some more. Thanks for the great things you share with us Eric. God Bless!
  • I agree totally with this. Every time I read "Think & Grow Rich" its literally like a new book to me.

QOTD: Only 3-4 shows, the prospecting power was one of them, the Randy Gage show when he was talking about how he recruits using social media was another one and I think the New economy show was the other one I watched more than once. I haven't seen all the shows yet, but I definitely plan on watching them all and going back to the most impactful ones and watching them over again.

    Hi Eric
I could tell you that I am sorry about the Vikings' first loss this season, but being a Pittsburgh Steeler fan for more than 27 years, I really can't do it. It would would be great for a Superbowl to see Vikings Vs Steelers.
About your question, I can tell you that I don't know how many, I could tell you that this last weekend I saw again complete the Vynerchuck show for the third time. Many more I have seen them at least twice. I think, that I am close to have seen almost all your 162 shows.
You are performing a marvelous job with your shows, you are really being the difference in the MLM.
    Thank's

  • QOTD: I watch each show twice that day. Have watched #120 and #121 many many times and boy did it sink in. Everything, and I mean everything has changed because of those two episodes. But I did have to watch them a number of times until I 'got it'.
  • Take it from someone who has read a lot of textbooks and studied reams of handwritten notes during an academic career in the ivy leagues, the importance of spaced repetition that Eric references is spot on. Unless you take those multiple passes at old foundational material, you won't have quick recall of the complete concepts. You can answer multiple choice questions with what you memorize, but you can only properly answer the essay questions with those concepts you own through diligent study over time. One essential piece our becoming professionals is though the self development. One necessary aspect of our self-development IS... Spaced Repetition of New Material..

Thank you for the lesson. It is so true, the more you listen the more and better you understand.

The last few days reminded me of the movie "Groundhog Day". Every day waking up with hearing the same music, the same people, the same events. But after a while of repetition, Bill Murray's character ended up being the best person he could possibly be.

Eric you are spot on with this. Keep listening and doing over and over and eventually you get good at it. I pass on your links to all my folks and they do watch and learn. Thanks!

I watched some of them a few times. But I can understand what you're saying, about spaced repetition. I certainly do it more, view the shows several times to let it stick!
Thank you so much, Eric, for this lesson.
    Kind regards
    Stella
  • QOTD: gosh, I’m not sure how many, but MANY. I’ve never called it spaced repetition (I like that) but I’ve been a fan of repetition for a long time.

One example on this topic that always stands out to me is one evening as I was cleaning my house I listened to a 45 min training album 4 times. On the 3rd play of the evening I got a major “AHA” moment, something just “clicked”. And prior to that evening I’d probably listened to that particular CD about 20 times.

One day I got a tweet on my phone from Tony Robbins of a quote that perfectly summed up my thoughts on this.

“No man ever steps in the same river twice, for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” –Heraclitus

Rising to my greatest potentials, growing, learning & expanding serves me and the people I work with in life and business. Last night I attended an event @ The Ritz Carlton and was amazed to see how people responded when they asked me "so what do you do?" My posture was steadfast & confident & my response was "I'm a network marketing professional... I help people create passive income streams that can empower them to live there dreams." Every person I meet said really, wow... can you tell me more? Eric this on-line training is priceless and has helped me emerge as a leader in Los Angeles & Southern California. Thank you =B-]>
  • I do listen to a lot of audios over and over, and I read books a few times too. Actually, what I do with books is highlight what I think summarizes good points so I can jog my memory. However, I have found completely different things in it when I have re-read something. The person I was the first time may have been focusing on something different at the time.

I have to admit that I've only watched a handful of the NWMpro shows more than once.
  • The 'Pimsleur' approach to learning really works and has proven extremely useful to me. I have been remiss in watching more than a few times the episodes that have had tremendous impact on first and or second view. The 20 plus I have watched more than once are not on a list and I have not made up the list of must view episodes. It is on my 'not doing now' list however.

QOTD I have reviewed 16 and from this point forward at least 2 per week.
  • ericworre
Have you noticed new things when you watched them the 2nd time?
  • ez2win
Only the 5 on the 4 prospecting questions. Thanks for the tip. I'll be sure to go back and review.
  • Eric,

LOVE IT! I was referred to Network Marketing Pro by my upline. Thanks for the great videos and for keeping it real.
  • ericworre
    Welcome Patty!
  • You know that I love watching your shows, and I've seen many and many of them several times. By the way it looks really cool overthere. Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • If you include the interviews that are reposted uncut, then I have watched several of them over. A few of the episodes that rang true with me are saved separately on my computer for easy access,. Episode 100 and the elephant ride are just a couple I look back at time to time.
  • wlee
I've watched at least a couple of dozen more than once and am in the process of converting ones I like/need to MP3 files so I can listen to them in my car - and wherever else I go. Thanks Eric and have a great trip.

  • Hi Eric
To be honest, I've watched more then once, just a few episodes, but I saw them all.
But I have a solution for this. From today I'll watch one new episode and one old from the beginning every single day :)
  • ericworre
Good idea. You'll be amazed what you learn the 2nd time around
  • That's incredible true!

And there is so much material out there ready to make you a better person.

    So much.

Just to name some authors: Dale Carnegie, Napoleon Hill, James Allen, Jim Rohn, Randy Gage, etc...

And if you look rught, you will find that MOST of the powerfull literature available IS FREE!

Just dig in and get whatever you need to grow as a person, because... YOU are everything...

    Love you all
