    An interesting angle. Thanks for sharing Eric. My craziest story: Flight delayed from Ft. Myers, FL to Atlanta because of rough weather. I land in Atlanta and they had fouled up my connection time earlier than 30 minutes. We land and I have maybe 3 minutes to get from one end of the airport to the other. My friend threw a fit at the gate long enough that they held the plane for me. It was a classic but needless to say I thanked the crew. This was a weekend where Atlanta was already backlogged with delays after some 30 inches of rain had fallen in 3 days. What a ride it was. Oh and then of course the flight from Atlanta left and it was on to Vegas. :)

    second time on a plane. never had been in Phoenix before. (at least I think it was Phoenix, was Arizona, anyway). I thought Arizona was desert. Pouring rain. They told me that there would be someone there to direct me to my next plane. Nope. Everything was closed (10 30 at night). I found a Somali guy sweeping the floor. I explained that I had no idea where I was going. He said that he thought that the plane I needed was in another section of the airport about 6 miles away. I had 3/4 hour to get there. He took me all over you know where and got me to a shuttle bus (with no driver) to take me to the other section. It turned out he was right, that was where I needed to be. By the time I found the right loading ramp I had 5 minutes before the plane was supposed to take off. the ramp was a mile long. No way was a fat 58 year old gonna run a 5 minute mile lugging luggage. I tried, crying my eyes out all the way. The plane had not taken off yet. I made it. Because a previous passenger had thrown up on the plane and they had to clean and disinfect it. Then they lost my luggage.

    Great point. I have a friend from HS who works in airline, I will put her on my priority list. :P

    We do really have a better way.
  • I'm trying to make this point gently with a friend in the airline business but their mind is closed so far. This might help.
  • Good Stuff! makes me think I had a missed opportunity yesterday... - QOTD - From Germany to Paris to Chicago to Dallas to San Antonio.. then back a week later San Antonio to Dallas to Germany - much better trip. The scariest was a trip from Atlanta to London - little bit of turbulence turned into a pretty fierce session that lasted about 30 minutes. After 10 minutes or so the stewardess sat in the seat next to me, turned pale white and proceeded to pray & saying affirmations of a good, pleasant, smooth flight. That started me and comforted me all in a few moments.

    QOTD: It was nearly like in the "Meet the Parents" movie when I took my boyfriend at a time to Estonia to meet my parents. :) Not as extreme, but similar situation with travel. The difference was that my parents loved him.

    QOTD: I would have to write a book.....I flew for 13 years in Ireland ....people are NUTS! :-) Sometimes I used to just stand there almost with my mouth open thinking..."Did they just really say THAT? or do THAT?" .... or worse again...SHOW that! Funny times !!!

    Great topic (then again I am biased) I've always said most airline people could walk into any job or business they wanted because of the very specific skill sets they learn when they have been trained by good airlines.

    Great point, Eric. Yes, we don't know what will happen and we can make thing happen.
  • Great point there. Those in the travel business have great opportunites there to be able to build a side business and have freedom.

    That not only applys to the airlines but many other industries as well. We do have a way to help people these days that are struggline and need extra income and security. You're dong an amazing job of getting that message across.

  • Great point. Those people are so over worked and under appreciated. I hear you loud and clear when you mentioned that it hurts to see these people get yelled at and screamed at.
    AOTD: I don't really travel that much to have a crazy story yet but look forward to more travel as I grow my network marketing business and become professional and full time.

    Hi Eric, thanks for speaking to this specific group of which I'm part. It's bigger than only airline people. This group includes hotel owners and workers, tour guides and drivers, travel agents, restaurant owners and workers. Some of these people are not only over-worked and under-paid. In my experience there are some who don't even get a salary and are totally dependent on tips and commissions for their livelyhood.

    We get to meet and interact with new people every day - what better platform does one have for network marketing? My challenge is that, at least in my capacity of independent tour operator, there is no fixed schedule - so it's impossible to plan. You need to be available 24/7 and you need to do most of the work yourself. Then, as Jim Rohn says - you can make a living - but definitely not a fortune. And actually - you have no life.

    I enjoy working in the travel business, but realize that network marketing is the only possibility for me to escape the hampster-wheel.

    Back in 94, at the Frankfurt airport, I was comming back from Switzerland, obviosuly with my swiss army knife on my belt. I came to the security point , a man with the metal detector in hand and the metal bow in front , I was asked to take off all my metal belongings, I was holding the knife , when this man came to me with the detector, I rose my hands (with the knife) and nothing sounded, I was clear to came on board, I was wondering, what is he looking for then?. Notice, that it was long before the terror era.

  • I just got back in town from a trip to LA, people in the travel industry are excellent with people, and they take crap all day long from idiots, MLM is a much better option, kudos eric
