NMPRO #202 – Never Underestimate the Power of Denial

December 22nd, 2009 Email This

People continue to spend money they don’t have for many things they don’t need while they wait for things to “turn around”.  Insanity.  Question of the Day (QOTD):  Do you think it would make you a better Network Marketing Professional if you posted your own comment here every day?  What would happen if you made a commitment to do it for the next 100 shows?

It would make me a better NWPro if I leave a comment here every day and I'm doing that as we speak.
  • aliceflanders
    I have been doing it.
  • Miguel Cortez
People think that bye Denial of what happening someone is going to help them.... :)
  • nmpro4ever
    awesome stuff.
  • I a working on posting comments every day or at least for every show.
  • One of the biggest denials people have is that the fait money economy can keep inflating forever and that somehow they/we can deal with it tomorrow. We will deal with it tomorrow (This is for sure!). But most people don't know that the true reconciliation of 'tomorrow' will not be with fait paper money, it will be to some LARGE degree a reconcilliation with Gold and Silver!

Wouldn't it be nice at this point in our early hyperinflationary cycle to have a NM company that sells personally owned small denomination free market gold and silver bullion coins?

    Kevin,
I agree 100% with what you said about fiat money. I have studied this since Robert Kiyosaki first started the Rich Dad series 10+ years ago. However, NMP is neutral in the arena of MLM. Please don't recruit here.
  • Josh N
I truly believe my skills will go from marketing hobbyist to Marketing Pro in that amount of time. First time on this site and love what I've heard. Really blessed to have stumbled accross this site. Thank you Eric.
  • Veronica
When you commit to posting a commet u are commiting to watching the video which means that you will improve, learn more about, or strenghend your knowledge about MLM. What will be atchieved after watching 100 show is definetly A METTER NETWORK MARKETING PROFESSIONAL.!!! Thank u Eric, u r helping us get there!! My Best..
  • I like the challenges you give us.
  • tax1099
Yes this is the 1st step to going pro.
  • I haven't missed daily shows. Actually most of them I saw twice.
If I commit to post here everyday I think it will make me better NM professional.
  • bethascoli
Good point. I do comment most days and I think it has made me better, but I can commit to leaving one every day (sorry I am a day late, I just watched this one. I don't usually skip a day, but yesterday was very busy).
  • latachia_2
Yes,to be free....A lot of hard work & commitment. Freedom isn't free, but it's worth the price! I'm in

Denial goes hand to hand with procrastination. To become a pro you need to overcome that. It's all in your head. Like Nike says: "Just Do It!".

    Best of luck to all!
  • Federico
Yes Eric, I am sure it will make me a better NMP, so I will do it for the next 100 shows, thank you very much for the recomendation, and encouragement, greatly appreciate all the effort you put in this website.

Most of live in a material world, and think will feel better, or find happyness buying things, but that is only short term.
  • Gene
Facing reality, for many people, takes too much mental strength to face reality. We know the famous Albert Einstein quote, “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. Folks must think about this quote for a second and ask onesrself, :Does this quote apply to the way you run your life?"
  • Ellis3
We all live in denial at some point ... being in network marketing is like taking the red pill and unplugging from the Matrix ... Go Neo! (I mean Eric ;))
  • shawncyr
    I'm in. 99 to go.
I wonder if this will be the year of calling a spade a spade? You know. Your prospect says, I don't have time, and you say, I'll help you find time, in fact I can find you 10 hours each week you're spending in front of the TV and Computer.
Or they may say, I can't afford to, and you respond, You can't afford not to.
    Hmmmm...
  • Marion
I accept the challenge - I believe I will be better if I make the commitment. So here is to the next 100.
  • julie67
We will commit to comment each day. We loved your program today on denial. It is amazing what the power of your mind can do. We read a true story about guy who worked at a train yard. One day he got locked in the refrigerator car. He pounded and pounded to get out. He didn't know that the boss had an announcement that he was letting everyone off early for the day. The man was freezing. He kept screaming but no one came to help because they had all left for the day. He ended up freezing to death. The next day they found him dead in the refrigerator car. They couldn't figure out why he froze to death when the refrigerator unit in that car was broken. The autopsy report showed that he died of hypothermia. The box car was at 60 degrees. His mind killed him.
  • Commercialized we are even when we do not have. The debt will continue to rise until people begin to see the trap. Thanks Eric for continuing to point out that we have the better way. I am a Network Marketing Pro......and I AM PROUD OF IT!!!!!
  • Looks like a neat place to visit and shop!
QOTD: Yep, I think posting comments and/or thoughts every day would make me a better Network Marketing Professional by the shear fact that I would tend to listen closer to each message so that I can share my thoughts on the subject. So I'm up for it!
  • QOTD: yes. It would make me have to think of something to say in an attempt to add some value to the community and sharpen my thoughts/skills at the same time. I got the hint. So here's my commitment: I will make "some kind of comment" on every episode at least until episode 302. Looking fwd to enjoying the journey with all of you!
  • How interesting that you spoke about this today Eric. I just finished rereading "The Wealthiest Man In Babylon" a few days ago. One of the sentences that really stuck with me ... and this was written in 1926... was "Our prosperity as a nation depends upon the personal financial prosperity of each of us as individuals."

As network marketers we have the ability to help ourselves and others become financially prosperous and help our country become financially strong once again.

Going on a credit "diet" and living on less than we earn is one of the ways to get to financial prosperity. Another is losing the "good opinions of others"... keeping up with the Jones' has really hurt alot of people. Financial education is critical... budgets..managing out-go vs in-come... smart investment vehicles ... leverage ...

January ... February ... March...will be banner months for Network Marketing especially when the TRUTH shows up on those credit card statements. The bell is tolling NOW O'CLOCK ... the time to take action is today...

As far as commenting here every day.... great habit to develop and keep in practice. In order to comment effectively... one has to think... and thinking is good. Your information is AWESOME... thought provoking... and designed to help folks examine how they are personally doing business and take action to improve ... 100 days of commenting.... I am IN !!

  • Jeroen Lingier
Sorry for the previous posts... computerissues. ;-)
I don't know what will happen if I will comment your shows, bt I'll do it, Eric!
    Have a great day,
Jeroen (who stopped being a ulurker!)

I see more opportunity for us when the credit card bills come next month!

I'm new to network marketing and I sometimes feel that I'm caught in a conundrum - sharing the opportunity which will help people, but at the same time, asking them to commit to spending money they may not have. This is something I'm working through and appreicate haivng found your webcasts. They're engaging and I thank you for sharing your insights and knowledge about the business. Health and prosperity for all in 2010!
  • jbledsoejr
You are exactly right...they will be dealing with it Jan, Feb, March, next year (& beyond) because they will spend their entire 2010 (and probably more) paying of the credit card debt they incurred this week. We have a BETTER way! Thanks to NMPRO I am getting better at telling ppl who about it. Thanks Eric!

QOTD: Posting comments everyday helps me to remain engaged/focused on my business while I learn. So YES!
  • Hai
If we all can practice "Less is More" concept, more of us can be LESS in debt and happier without MORE "stuff". :-)
  • LOVE IT!!!! Someday starts right now!
  • Eric, Have to just have to repost your video on my facebook wall.
Your right, everyone does need network marketing and your right
people buy what they want not neccessarily what they need!
    I appreciate you
    Christina
  • The commitment to comment everyday has me show up everyday. My commitment to talk to 20 new people everyday puts me into various kinds of action. There are days when the 'intention' behind the commitment is just to get through it and other days the dance of meeting new people is exhilarating. I spent many days working out of a kiosk at the Mall of America in the early 90's. What a great place to meet people! People fly into the Twin Cities just to shop for a day or two.
  • I agree there are a lot of people in denial but shouldn't we as network marketers not focus so much attention on the material side of things, like a $400,000 jewellry shopping spree? I understand how that type of thing is meant to encourage and spark dreams, but don't you think it also encourages more of the same mentality you're critisicing? Maybe we can encourage and inspire people to think about being debt free, have the time and freedom to do what you would really like to, which is something you often talk about. And maybe we can encourage people to think about how many people and/or charities they can help with $400,000. I wish you and yours a very happy holiday season.
  • Since you asked the question, Eric, I am sure, it would make me a better Network Marketing Professional, if I post my own comment here everyday. I believe that, in order to play the game, one need to get on the field. Thank you for inviting me to take part in the game. Let's see how it will happen if I make this commitment and do it for the next 100 shows!!!
  • quintaser
I believe that posting my comments every day centainly I will become a better Networker (I´m expresing my commitment to do it), because I will need to think more, and not just receiving info from you. On the other hand, I believe that it will be fantastic for NMPro, because many collegues will be doing the same, and you will be receiving many ideas, contributions to make even better your NMPro. Is my commitment, that every day I will be here answering de QOTD. I need to tell you, that the other day I received your reply to mi comment, I felt lvery honored, a extrange sensation went all the way through my skeleton. In fact, you are my most respected leader Eric. See you every day from now on in this section.

Merry Christmas, please give my respects to your father, I saw last week your fahters day capsule, Now I understand why you are so a great man.

    God Bless you
  • isxperiaeagle
Wow it is true for everyone to become a networking pro but not everyone wants to be cause of lack of self confidence, but this business really helps you build your lack of knowledge about ones own self and helps me help others get what they want out of life. And if I do enough of that then I will eventually get what I want.
  • OK, you got me there.... I read you every day but I lurked until you used that word 2 or 3 programs ago. I will post a comment, every day, from now on because I, overwelmingly, do believe it will make me BETTER. Thanks for pointing the way. See you in SFO!
  • Eric, This was profound!
He swam beneath the Moon, Basked beneath the Sun,
Lived a life of going to do and never got anything done
  • Great show...Your right, most people do need us, but they can't seem to have the real desire to change. The first thing they need to do....Deal with things NOW!!!!
  • enrique62
    Hi Eric:
I usually don't post my reactions everyday. In you, giving us this challenge,I realized that I post a comment when I disagree with you or have a question. I think the Mall of America is the biggest Mall in the U.S. There is no credit card spending over here. My wife and I set a limit amount of money mainly to spend gift for my daughter and the little nephews and nieces and that's it.
No more stress on how we are going to pay all that the debt to the banks. Anyways, I hate giving my money to the banks with interest.
  • By posting my own comment, for the next 100 shows, it would make me better. Much as this show has made you better, by posting my own comment it would intensify my concentration on the subject matter which would relate to my own business.
  • denagottlieb
Loved it! You have this talent for seeing through the garbage and just telling it like it is.
I always know what you're going to say at the end ("It's a stone cold fact...) yet I LOVE hearing the way YOU say it over and over and over. You have me almost completely convinced LOL!!!! Keep it up.
  • It funny you posted this today. Deb and I were shopping on Saturday for a few things to wrap up our shopping and noticed the same thing. There was hardly any parking a tthe malls we visited. We had the same thought you expressed on here. Love the symbolism today.

QOTD: I know that I am a better NM Professional in training today than I was 202 episodes ago as well as a better person. The daily discipline of posting comments on here daily helps to get my day going on a more positive and empowering note. SO my answer to the question s absolutely it will make you better! I willl accept the challenge of posting a comment every episode for the next 100.

Hi Eric, Whatever it takes to become a NWM I am prepared to try. It is amazing - How to penetrate their masks? its as if they are saying "please listen to what I am not telling you". Its difficult to penetrate the initial "no" that people spew out without thinking, even though you are handing them a "gift" a "way out" on a platter for their current circumstances.
By the way - we have a Legoland Theme Park in Carlsbad CA - we haven't seen you in awhile so please make a stop sometime soon.
  • hpena
No wonder people get so depressed during the holidays, internally they know that they can't afford it but social convention says we have to spend anyway.

QOTD: Great question Eric, I post often. When I do, I feel like I have to REALLY internalize the message in order to contribute with the comment. It has done wonders for my business.
  • Loved the vid Eric.. there's nothing better than height and speed to get the heart pumpin...

I have been skydiving for 15+ years... so I guess that is the only thing that I could list as my favorite "ride"...

When I reflect back on the training I received, and the real life lessons/experiences that were shared with me by those who had been in the sport before me, I realize that when I skydive, I do so with a "rock solid" confidence in myself and my abilities, as well as an unwavering belief that I will succeed...

I believe that if I committed to your next 100 show... I would stand a pretty good chance of walking forward in Network Marketing with that same "rock solid" confidence and unwavering belief in my ability to succeed!

    Sign me up ;)
  • Eric, I read this great book called "How to Win Friends and Influence People to Leave Comments".
There was a chapter that said something like "Create in the other person an eager want".

PS: Only 3 sleeps to go. (Maybe 4 where you are).
    Have a great Christmas.
  • This really looks great. What a mall ;-) It's all about consistancy in our profession. Plan...Do...Review...over and over again. So people post your comments here every day. Let's go change the world...Eric thank you for being our teacher. Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • Erik
Great point. I have commited myself to do when I started to follow your show. I`m not sure how many days I have made a comment, but will check it out. I`m sure that making comments here will make us all better NMPROs, because then we have to focus on the show and what the topics is abouth. I personaly have got so much from this show. Not just motivation, I mean real information and tips. If you post comments here for 100 days I think you will learn to get consistant, you will get motivation and also what to do and say. Thank You my friend
