Here is the Complete & Uncut version of our interview with Network Marketing Superstar and Million Dollar Per Year Earner, Mr. Dan Catto.  As I mentioned before, only about 25 minutes of this interview has been previously aired.  The rest you’ll see today for the first time.  Amazing information!  Note: The actual interview is about 60 minutes long, but we kept the camera rolling and (after getting permission from Dan), you can listen in to our private conversation afterwards.  Fun stuff!  If you’ve received value from this interview series, please show some love by commenting below.

    I have been listening and listening. It's amazing what you teach us. You know what amazes me is that we think when we do the business our own way it will work, well it's just the opposite. No after your story I realize more and more that when you are teacheble and understand what experienced and successful people say that that is the successfactor. Keep it simple, duplicate.     Wow - so many points to ponder! Having a system is Key!The speed of the group is the speed of you! Personal development is everything. We loved the fact that Dan wants to go to Egypt to see the Pyramid and take a picture of him pointing at a pyramid to say to people "now that is a pyramid".

    In this uncut interview, I learn 2 things that I have almost forgotten from Dan, that 2 things are find good people and have a good system. Yes, I wasted a lot of time for hanging around with those who was not so interested in this business, and I used to mess up for not conducting a good training on our system. I will remember what you say, Dan. And Eric, in the conversation, you tell us that why we should have a system, I got your point. It helps me understand a lot about the importance of the system.     A special effort and being surrounded by the right people. Do what you have to do for a few years, to do what you want to do for the rest of your life. Get as many exposures to each individual as close time frame to each other as possible. It usually takes 4-6 exposures for someone to join our business. They are prepared to go to work. Relationships are the foundation of long-term business. First presentation was a big lesson, where non-sales experienced people were making a 6-figure income.
    At the big event met the people making a 6 figure monthly income. 5 years 7 days a week Dan worked. Living within a budget was learned after making a million dollars for Dan. Share the product or opportunity with someone everyday! Learn from every experience, grow and improve daily. Have fun, but get it done. Lighten up and your sales with brighten up. You can happily achieve in the network marketing industry. Getting the product out there, sharing the opportunity, and building towards events. My mentor flew my uncle to a major event.
    Option overloads; keep it simple and applicable to each individual. Find good people and have a system; follow the system. Long term access to emerging markets on the global stage.

    Get the right people and get a system. Dan works with 6 in his innercircle, and an extended group of 30 people. The system and duplication do the rest. Again, to do that you need to find the right people and to have a great, simple and duplicable system.

  • The complete interview reinforces how people can create new long term friendships by actively participating in NM. Over three decades, I’ve noticed that a surprising number of NM people who are VERY successful did not do well in the traditional education path (high school and college). Balancing that, they seem to have a willingness to learn what they NEED to know. That includes personal development. Another common characteristic seems to be that they had experienced some very tough times. That, in turn, gave them great motivation to achieve success. Another common trait seems to be PERSISTENCE.

    Having a system for people in your organization to use simplifies things, makes duplication easier, and leads to a culture that will have sticking power. Without a system you’ll be driven to distraction.

    Memorable slogans: Have fun, but get it done. Lighten up and your sales will brighten up.

    great insite....thanks eric .....every time i here you talk to someone making a million dollars a year and when u ask a question and i pause it and try to answer it if it was me and the funny thing is im almost always on point with what they are saying which shows me that i do very much understand this business now all i have to do is continue doining it consistently and its a matter of time b4 i get to where they are and the average is 20 yrs that they have been in the business ...im going on 5 years in this business.... i got 15 yrs left ...im going to do something for the next 15 yrs ...whats better than this.... we have a better way and for the next 3 decades i will be telling the world(God willing)

    In Defense of Network Marketing

    The best thing about network marketing is that it gives you the opportunity to run a small business and learn about the difficulty of running a small business. 95% of all small businesses fail within the first five years. The success rate is a lot higher for network marketing. For both small business and network marketing there is a lot of value and personal growth received when you go through the process whether you achieve what you set out to accomplish or not.

    As a small business owner you have to write a good business plan that will support your request for financing. Renting an office or building is a startup requirement. Additionally, you will need to create the infrastructure to support the operational requirements of your business. Phone systems, furnishings, hardware and software, signage, and the list of things that come up as you delve deeper into making your business a reality. Service-oriented businesses will need specialty tools and hardware while product-related businesses will need product. It will be necessary to get licenses and permits, file the forms to satisfy government regulations, establish your insurances, and contact the Small Business Administration advisers to see if you are doing the things that other successful businesses do.

    During this process you will need to find a team of support people that will handle the daily and situational requirements that arise. For example, the first task that every business owner should outsource is bookkeeping. Not hiring a bookkeeper is the number one mistake of a small business. A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will guide you through establishing reserve accounts and lines of credit in addition to helping you understand the financial progress of your business and doing taxes. An attorney is essential to your team not only in the legal formation of the business, but also to handle the inevitable consumer who is going to seek legal advice when they feel wronged by your company. It happens, believe me it happens.

    Are employees a requirement for your business? If so, you must register with the Bureau of Labor in your state. The business is required to follow state, Federal, and occupational guidelines in the workplace. Minimum wage, Equal Opportunity, safety, and other signage must be posted. Training for all employees needs to be done on a regular basis and documentation made available during inspections. Employee intake screening, benefit programs, policy manuals, evaluation of job performance, counseling criteria and other issues come with the decision of hiring employees.

    And then there is marketing and sales. How will you get customers? Television, radio, print, Internet, direct mail, and direct sales are the most common methods. A multi-delivery campaign approach is best. Most business owners initially join their Chamber of Commerce to promote their business, but end up staying for the support and camaraderie. No one else knows the difficulties that a business person is going through like a fellow business owner. Marketing and sales will be the largest part of your budget and consume the most amount of your time during the first few years of your business.

    When you consider everything a business start up has to do in order to survive it becomes clear why 80% of all new businesses fail in the first three years. The learning curve is huge. The effort to keep all the balls in the air is even bigger. During those first few years you sacrifice your health because you are staying up late doing all the paperwork and documentation requirements. Too often there isn’t enough profit from the business to take a decent salary so you aren’t eating well. Lack of sleep, improper diet, and long hours without a vacation for a couple of years often drives people into a health crises. The health crises is as much a cause for failure as the well-documented financial crises.

    So who is complaining about network marketing? There is nothing to do but take the promotional literature provided by the company and acquire customers by word of mouth advertising. That’s it. Nothing else. You already have a phone, a computer, and a mouth.
    After the initial investment of a few hundred dollars your monthly overhead is only a few hundred dollars including the aforementioned expenses that you can now categorize as business expenses and write off on your taxes.

    The difficulty of network marketing is the same difficulty as a small business. You have to become the person equal to the task at hand. In small business you can’t quit because you are deeply and heavily invested. In network marketing you can quit after a few weeks or a few months when you are not getting the results that were told to you are possible when you signed up. Those possibilities are the reason anyone starts any small business. You quit and blame everybody and everything but your Self.

    Being in business is about taking responsibility. In a small business you have to take responsibility for the overhead you created, the results of your company, the employees paycheck, and every decision you make in a long road of making decisions. In network marketing you only have to take responsibility for your Self.

    In network marketing you will find people with the highest values and principles anywhere. You will find people with the greatest dignity, respect, and compassion. Do you want to know why that is? It is because most of them are former business owners. They know the value of working with a company that does the work of creating the business and opportunity for them. They know the difficulty that you are going through to get to where you want to be. And they want to help you get there.

    But they can’t do your personal growth work for you.

    I found what you said about getting prospects in front of a third party interesting.
    I am a relative newcomer to nwm (about a year). I feel very proficient at doing presentations, one on ones etc. myself and so I don't feel the need to bring in someone from my upline. But, recently it occurred to me (actually, my husband said) that if I bring people to another person ("guru") it may have more of an effect. You reinforced this for me.
    It's 12:15 am and I'm tired out from watching this whole thing.

It was great, sometimes we even stopped the video to coment on the subjects before writing down the things we wanted to remember, like the names of the books...     Ok Eric....I woke up with my mind whirling and I can't stop it. One thing keeps repeating in my mind. "Simple disciplines repeated over time = Success. Simple errors in judgement, repeated over time=Failure." I think I'm being told several important messages. #1-Go get your first Jim Rohn book and REALLY start your personal development. #2-GET SOME DISCIPLINE DEE!! #3-Stop trying to LOOK smart...instead, BE smart and APPLY what you have learned while you continue to learn! You're teaching me that I have to stop forgiving myself for my lack of discipline, and past failures...and start DOING.
    Your challenge lit the spark...and it is fanning the flames. I'm excited...and a bit fearful because I believe that I am beginning to understand the magnitude of what I want FROM myself in order to achieve what I want FOR myself.     That's the whole point, isn't it! No one outside our industry does understand what we do! Some of them THINK they do. I remember a story about a Mrs Gage who worked for a massive direct selling company was told by the CEO that a guy called Randy Gage was coming to work as a consultant to help the company do more with the internet and help with it's global expansion. She said 'What a coincidence my son has the same name'. She never understood what a legend in the industry her son truly was/is until that day. LOL.

    That gives us all a feel of the life, the style, the fun, the stories, that we can all have from this industry.
    The key point...... you guys don't sit at the back or even the middle of the plane.

    Understanding how to attract and build a team is crucial in this business. I feel humbled tonight after listening to this interview as I realized that I have been a solo player most of my life. I think I can do things myself and don't like to rely on other people's motivation to succeed. I am slowly shifting my perspective to realize that I am looking for motivated, entrepreneurial type people that desire the same goals and dreams, that have the passion to do this business. It takes me believing and living a leader type mind set, where we all are moving in the same direction. How humbling as I do need to "shed my beliefs" that are barriers to helping me create a large team. This is where NM is such a different model that what I am used to.     After the 2010 Bowl Championship Series final between the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Texas Longhorns the ESPN interviewer asked Colt McCoy, the Texas quarterback who was sidelined early in the game due to an injury, “What was it like for you to watch the game, your last game in a Longhorn uniform, from the sideline.”

    His emotion-filled reply was, “I love this game. I have a passion for this game. I’ve done everything I can to contribute to my team. We made it this far. It’s unfortunate I didn’t get to play. I’d have given everything I had to be out there with my team.”

    Just like the game of life or network marketing you need a team. You are not even really in the game until you get your team together. Choose your coaches and trainers wisely. Pre-season you can learn the game plan and practice your plays so that when you step out into the lights your ready for the hard knocks. Once you’re in the game your team will help you move the ball down the field, get into the red zone, and score income touchdowns.

    Eric and Dan talked about two levels of an inner circle group. The 5 or 6 that you work closely with who in turn each have 5 or 6 with whom they work closely with. Approximately 25-36 people in total. When Dan talked about making a special effort to be surrounded by the right people, this is the team he was talking about.

    Surrounded with like-minded people all working towards a common goal will create a lot of enthusiasm and fun. “Have fun, but get it done.” Your business will start to grow dramatically without your personal effort. At that time you can work more on your business rather than in the business creating systems and events. And traveling.

    You will love working from home helping other people achieve their goals. That’s when you find your self saying, after all the hard work pays off, “I love this game. I have a passion for this game. I’ve done everything I can to contribute to my team.”

    Or you could be sitting on the sidelines saying, “I made it this far. It’s unfortunate I didn’t get to play. I’d have given everything I had to be out there with my team.”

    My company is sending us to Australia this year too...I guess it is a popular destination! Definitely really far though. I understand that I didn't have to completely ignore people that did not have a positive influence in my life, but rather, surround myself--mostly-with people that I wanted to learn from or had a lifestyle, character that I wanted to be like. I wanted to be the type of person that I wanted to attract, and you guys are paving the way for those qualities and characteristics. These amazing virtues in people are available to everyone, and people choose to reach out to them or not. The fundamentals will continue to pave the way for much success for up and coming marketers out there.

    Absolutely loved the uncut version. Dan just seems as do you to truly enjoy every part of this profession. I agree with Dan's comment on a "stress free lifestyle" - totally different from the corporate world, and what I have been accustom to for 12 + years. I was taught from the start to edify the system, as you need to have a great system to plug people into. Watching Dan and you talk about continual development I think that is so key. I have seen many people come into this business and believe they have been to a training, or a few training's and an event or two and they are developed!! All done and everything else should just fall into place. I had to get over wanting it more for others than they did for the first 6 months when I came into this business. Some will never change and are content...

    I love the element and culture of fun in this profession, it is great working with people that enjoy what they do, create fun and excitement in all parts of their business but also as Dan put it "get it done". I think as you guys stated the Journey / process is what we should relish and enjoy...
  • I began watching this around 8am this morning came back to it a couple times and finally finished now before 8pm. I really like the way the two of you 'dance' together. It's more than two guys who have been friends a long time. I have been watching how people make commitments and see two very different methods. One, the vast majority do costs benefit analysis on keeping their commitment.... and seldom do keep most of them. i.e. they cannot be trusted. The others do a cost benefit analysis before they commit and then live into that. A lot more fun way to dance. Just like the two of you.

  • So many nuggets that it hard to focus on just one. THis was AWESOME.. Eric I think your interviews are getting better and better. What i really liked was the after interview. Trading "secrets" and exchanging ideas to improve the process. Thanks for the look inside.

    One thing I take away from this is the groups you work with. As Dan was saying core group of 5 and supporting a larger group of about 30. I know people in this industry who try to help everyone in their group on a daily basis and they are exhausted due to their grinder mentality! Thinks for helping us keep it simple in this way as well. focus on the smaller group to help and show them how to grow and duplicate.

    I was shoked yesterday, I began to read a book last wednesday, about prayer, a one of the things guess what?...you need to have a "burning desire" in order to get the answer to your prayer. Other things that I´ve been hearing and whatching for the las 8 months, is also in this book: you need to have an specific goal, you cant ask for generalities, you need to pray with details. Everything seems to be getting in its correct place, I know, that from this year on, the things are going to be amazing. Have a great weekend.

    One of the great messages I got from this episode was that if you try to work with everyone in your organization it will cripple your business. Another great message I got was that to have a large organization you have to find good people and you need a system. The system is critical and it will evolve into a culture that will keep your organization together. The system is already in place so I am looking forward to the journey of finding those good people! :-)

  • Dan Catto has just told us about some great secrets to succeed in MLM, but the most important lesson to me was the fact that he would not work for any MLM industry if it was not for his personal broken situation in 1988...by no means, he said...that situation gave him the chance to become a multimilionaire guy!!!! Hey, folks...never forget to give to people you meet this name...DAN CATTO...tell people to look for his name at google and that is a great motivation to bring people to your MLM team!!!! ;-)

    A few pointers to Dan on travel dreams.
    I used to live and work in Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt.
    I was an international travel and leisure industry management professional back then.

    It's a great idea to go and see the Giza pyramids.
    Make sure you go inside the Keops pyramid if it's still possible.
    I found it a scream to actually go in although there's nothing much to see.
    Not like the tombs in the valley of the kings.
    Also go to the valley of the kings down in Luxor.
    There's a river boat cruise from Cairo down there.
    I haven't done the cruise but heard it was worth the while.

    If you like scuba diving go for a week on a liveaboard dive trip in the red sea.
    It's the most beautiful colorful diving on the planet!
    Ask any experienced diver!

    Most important: Don't go for bargains! (Like any of you two would!)
    Egypt is a very poor and (hence) corrupted place.
    Everybody you meet will try to con you and rip you off.
    Even the ones you think are cool!
    I did not meet a single person who wouldn't steal her last money from his mother in all my time there!
    Get everything planned from home by a good travel agent with good destination management contacts.

    Then go see some of the most amazing World heritage in existence today!
    But do it quickly and then go somewhere in the Western civilisation and get pampered!

    Safe travels!

    Oh, and I learned again tonight and will be using this show over and over.

Wow! 90% Even with the big companies that have been around for decades, to still have 90% non-involvement proves to me that saturation is a complete myth.

I have always stressed the technical people will always be a help, not an end in itself. Human relationships and the self should be first.     I enjoyed the entire conversation, especially the last few minutes when you were just talking. Like to see how successful professionals communicate off scree. One thing I noticed.....the numbers of comments have dwindled to almost 1/2 from day one of the commitment to today. That is less than one week, and almost 1/2 of everyone out there has already broken their commitment to themselves. I feel that this is the major obstacle in front of everyones successes. I was listening to T Harv Ecker this morning and he said "How you do anything is how you do everything" We all need to keep our commitments to ourselves and maintain our daily disciplines....congruent behavior has no choice but to lead to congruent results.     Eric, THANK YOU AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN for your investment in this website. I only wish that both of my kids were old enough to enroll in my company so they could apply these lessons.

    Last year (2009) I was building my customer base and feeling great that as a single mother of 2 little kids, I could provide for them and be there for them because of my NM business. But then Hurricane Ike came by and took out most of my team (it was located right on the Gulf Coast).

    The comments you made on emerging markets (diversifying) really hit home. That NM company did not allow their distributors to recruit internationally unless they had reached a certain rank. Until that moment, I had taken this concept of geographical diversification of income for granted. I hadn't realized how important it was to diversify my income by geography. I'm now in a different company that allows us to team build internationally from day 1 without reaching X rank. I'm starting over again but I know that this business will withstand one (or two or three) hurricanes in the Gulf Coast!

    I'M NOT TAKING THIS FOR GRANTED AGAIN!

    Workers put in £27BN Free Overtime

    "Workers delivered £27.4 million in unpaid overtime last year – a record £5,400 per person, a study has found.

    Those putting in extra time “gave away” seven hours and 12 minutes every week, the highest amount since records began in the late 1990s.

    The biggest increases in the value of this unpaid overtime were in London, the North-West and the North-East. Wales was the only area in which the value fell.

    Of the 5 million employees thought to work unpaid overtime, nearly 900,000 regularly put in more than ten hours a week for free, according to the study for the Trades Union Congress.

    Workers in Northern Ireland, the East Midlands and London were the most likely to do this.

    Overall, the numbers working unpaid overtime fell by 168,000 last year, largely because of a cut in hours caused by the recession.

    But if all those who put in unpaid overtime did it from the start of the year, they would not get paid until February 26th".

    Wonderful interview. I took a page of notes of the basics, which ironically was the main theme. Now it's time to work on keeping it simple, promote my opportunity and product, and then help my team do the same (duplication). I thought it was cool that there were so many millionaires involved with MLM and even more stunning was that there are 90% of the population who aren't involved!

  • Big One - you're only as good as the people you surround yourself with. This is one piece of advice I heard many years ago, but I always had a very difficult time breaking away from long-time 'negative' associations.

    However, once I did - EVERYTHING changed. I now try, as you suggest Eric, to be at the bottom rung of the people I surround myself with. Much better to be pulled up than dragged down!!

    Excellent interview - one of your best yet ...
