Amateurs want to hide behind social media ( in a previous life I wanted to hide as well ) because some are losing the ability to make friends in the physical world. Some people just can't relate to a live human. ATM's, self check out at stores, etc. Getting someone to a live event still requires connecting with someone. I'm learning that connecting with a live human being is the biggest skill I have to develop.

Again, fear is the biggest thing you have to overcome. And that has to do with your expectation. If you are desperate to find a starter you will have far less success than if you don't hold any expectations plus, which is even more important, you will have NO fear of meeting people in person. And only IN PERSON you will be able to build relationships and thus a business instead of holding on to a hobby.
