I wrote him several years ago because he never said who the greatest networker was. When I e-mailed him and asked he said I was the greatest networker. I kept that e-mail.
  • heatherbrocklehurst
Building relationships, I think it's a lot more difficult to do today with people's lifestyles so tied to technology.
  • wealthandriches
It's about relationships. LIFE is about relationships.
  • Skipping to the Complete & Uncut episode...but wanted to make sure I complete the challenge and make a comment! ;-)
  • Agreed, I have a friend here in Australia who trademarked that term Friendwork Marketing about 5 years ago, and it was because of what you said here that he did this.
  • Hm, if it comes to the importance of building relations, I have my doubts. John does NOT give me a good feeling. But he does now what he talkes about. Practising what you praise.....I don't know, but then again, I don't know him personally.
  • Dylan Cooper
John has such a straightforward, no BS way about him. Good interview.
  • yitz613
Greatest Networker in the World is one of the must reads of our profession.
  • I am going out to purchase The Greatest Networker in the World.....
  • meagankellytorres
The Greatest Networker in the World.... Great book and a fast read too. Focus on service to others, building relationships. I loved it.
  • Calvin Boutilier
Time to start reading some relevant books I guess. Thanks!
  • Luis (Pelon)
    Finally catching up
  • cmattern
Really good advice. I also have always been somewhat of a 'loner' with one or two close friends. This is definitely a learning experience, and a positive growth experience. I have made some great new friends in this business and I am continuing to make more. This is the way to expand, both personally and in your MLM business.
  • Elaine Baril
1992?!?!?! A book about the "Greatest Networker"?!?!?!?! Didn't think the network marketing industry was that "old".... Boy how time flys!!!!!
  • Dylan Cooper
Thank you for bringing us these great people and resources into one place Eric! I have some catching up to do, I have just moved house and got behind on my daily checking in on NMPRO. However, I am catching up now and making sure I leave a comment on every one.

Greatest networker in the world, WHAT HAPPENED TO UPLINE MAGAZINE ???
  • BobbyRay
I have learned to like and accept all types of people as mentioned here.
  • Damijan81
I Love The greatest networker book. Whenever i feel dejected i read it again and it gives me new energy. Thank you very much Mr Fogg
  • Jeroen Lingier
Congratulations mr Fogg, for having sold over a million copies of your book. I already went out and got it.
    Your summary got me interested.
The relationaspect is critical, I believe, because you have to connect with others.
In order to get closer you need to listen and let them give you the reasons why they should be in mlm.
From Belgium/ Flanders, this is Jeroen Lingier
  • CINDYSU
I LOVE people. And I LOVE helping people. But sometimes they scare the crap out of me. I have been easily intimidated. I realize I have been focused inward. I'm shifting my focus OUTWARD, which is the only way to develop any relationship, and finding they have the same fears and inadequacies as I. That results in my relating to them more and having less fear.
  • I didn't like people either :-)
The wake up call for me was "Business School" by Robert Kiyosaki... this business is for people who care about others to share your products and/or opportunity. Most, if not all, of the people who will buy or join can tell you care about them
  • pech
I agree. To make good relations, you must listen for what people really mean, not just what they say, and ask the right type of questions at the right time.
  • John Boyd
I've downloaded the book - can't wait to read it!
  • robbinsaturniewicz
Our marketing is different and special. Direct selling one to one.
    Leadership builds the team..
  • travelprohawaii
What a great business to be in where as you grow your relationships everyone becomes a success.
  • Shovers
I have a great mentor teaching relationship building. I cant wait to get the book that supports that as well.
  • classy70sgirl
These interviews just get better and better, with so many nuggets of gold in them for us to learn from!!
Truly NM is a relationship business, but it's so much fun to be able to choose who you work with.
I'm going to get this book to read and improve on my skills.
    Thank you Eric!

Building relationships is not as easy as it sounds, but it is an aspiring idea.
  • Carlos Perez
    This is a Relationship business
  • Jessi
Yes, I do believe good relationships are important in this business!
  • Here is another book to add to my list !
  • Vonnita2010
Hi Eric, I am all the way down in South America, Bolivia, how can I get a copy of this book IN ENGLISH??
  • Relationships are key.
  • AdvocareJax
I love the shipping in this business! I will have to check out The Greatest Networker In The World.
  • happyhealthybob
Investing life into life, great quote
  • veronikakari
I agree - relationship business. More important than in other business. So in other way -communication skils are important.
  • jeanalbert
The network marketing industry is all about relationships. Just look around at what's happening today in the corporate world. Most companies seem to take the quick and easy route to cost-cutting and just layoff their employees, some by the thousands. Where's the relationship in that? Do they really care about the well-being about the very people that help them do what they do? In network marketing, we care about every individual that we bring in and truly desire that they succeed! We really want to get to know them, because network-marketing is a life-long partnership.
  • smreed
Relationships are truly so key. It is one aspect that makes us so different than traditional business. I remember being told by my boss in my first position of authority some 20 years ago not to get close & friendly with the employees as they wouldn't respect me in my position. I thought this was insane thinking and did the opposite and received enormous respect from the employees. And they would help me when I was in a pinch. Relationships matter in everything you do!!!
  • ronaldvandomburg
Network Marketing is THE relationbased business! I like that quote although many people I know don't have a clue about this essence
  • Arnold Thompson
    awesome
  • susanjohannesson
I like what John said about talking and listening. His book was brillant as well! It was my first book I listened to after I had signed up in my network company and it felt like I really wanted to become this perfect networker!
  • Relationships! No wonder, I read a poll recently conducted among network marketers showing phone recruitment as the method that produces the best results.
  • Inger
Relationships is factor 12 out of 10 :-)
The greatest Networker in the world is a great book! By the way, the audio version is great too!!
  • Gustavo Munoz - Colombia
keep on going with this typt of interviews
  • Agneta Rebo
It sure is a relationship business
  • klmwahbiz
Awesome interview with John, Eric. I agree network marketing is all about relationships. People join you because they know, like and trust you.
  • gkamlm
Sure brings out the importance of relationships, further solidifying the idea that it can't all be done over the internet.
  • einargh
    Good lessons
  • DianaValdez
Greatest networker in the world. Got to read it!
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
    Great mentoring. Thanks again Eric
  • juanpablorico
It´s one of my biggest chalenges: how to be more consistence in build relationships. Now, I am reading Dale Carnegie´s book ....
  • gmolina
Having a vision of NM is huge, without that vision it will never grow to its greatest potential. Creating better connections with relationship based businesses IS what this is all about.
  • from the day I entered sales, building relationships has always been about relationships...today they're built faster than ever with the tech tools we have today which makes it great.
  • alvinmerritt
as usual. GREAT information. on an other note. i'm bowing out to contest. i cant tell which episodes i've watched and commented on because no matter which ones i watch, i see the title of the first one i watched that day. it looks like i'm commenting on that one episode several times.
  • Steve_Nelson
Wow! I never really thought about that. I really don't like people that much. I mean I do but this makes sense, this relationship building aspect, liking, loving people
  • randers1
Emphasis on the importance of relationships in our business is major. Building a relationship basics, in my mind; ask questions, answer questions, set an appointment, show up on time or early, tell stories, set another appointment and follow through.
  • clickjt
Thanks for the opportunity to revisit one of the all-time greats.
  • Lotta
    Relationships is the key.
  • Ryan
relationships and getting to really like people, tell me more...
  • great tip on the books! Also, as we have been told time and time again, this is a RELATIONSHIP business! The technology is there to sustain a true interpersonal connection, not to create it.
  • frankdiaz
man i read the book when it came out .......and i didnt get it.......till right NOW!!!!
  • tommycone
    #226
Greatest Networker in the world is a great book - I will read it again. I am excited about this interview. Thanks Eric
  • cherisizzles
It's encouraging that John didn't start out being fabulous with people. And it shows me that if you work on building relationships, you will succeed.
  • Jilliangene
I love Mr. Fogg saying he didn't like poeple and had to fall in like and then love with people. I think I have the same problem. This business really have you finding out all more about your warm market (and yourself) than you may have had to know if it wasn't for this business (people's -fear, trust, self-worth, etc). Also you have to really win friends and changes enemies to friends in this business, which are all dealing with poeple a lot more than I would want too.

I will check ou the book soon - Thanks Jillian
  • gjt
    interesting
  • jlt0wn
can't wait to hear the next segments
  • keithraines
Relationships - no go it alone in this business. We must be willing to be helped and to help by others.
  • Another great interview. Anyone else seeing a common theme among the guests?
  • Connie Tolton
Glad I'm in the thise business - loving the reinforcement I'm getting from these interviews. Great stuff, thanks,

    Connie T
  • Time to listen to the Greatest Networker again. The relationships that are created by this business sure are different then the ones created in a "regular" job. Networkmarketing helps us grow as individuals and makes the world a better place.
  • Jilliangene
So right - Say it loud - totally agree!!
  • hcapcarp
    Insightful, Great overview.
  • John Spardella
I've heard it many times but this time, said by John Fogg, it is abundantly clear that this is first and foremost a relationship building business.
  • WOW! This was incredible and something I have professed all along!
  • I beleive relationships are key to a network marketing business. I have met and will continue to meet great people in this business. I love it!
  • 1 down 3 to go, looking forward to it.... Interesting question though, all the reading and so many grinders...
  • It is great to meet the man behind the book. Struggling with relationships is probably the biggest reason for failing.
  • Paco_Carreno
OMG... what you've talked about relationships... I felt identified with the very beginning when I was comfortable with me, myself, and I and maybe... if the other person is kind of a clone of me... then, I will practices some communication... It's about relationship... so let's study, practice and teach.
  • Paco_Carreno
There's the greatest networker within us. I love the idea of not putting a name to the main character of the book... I'm reading it again.
  • penaltybox1
It is about relationships and trust and helping others great show !
  • When the student is ready the teacher will come. "The Greatest Networker" is coming down from my bookshelf tonight for another personal evolution. Eric, so many of the experts you have interviewed have stressed the importance of reading for personal development. Perhaps what is missing for many of us new to Network Marketing is a bibliography of the must read books like this one, and the works of Og Mandino and John Kalench. Thank you Mr. Fogg for this interview and for your other current projects including the 90 Day Challenge.
  • Looks like I've got yet another book to add to my reading list. Also, I'm looking forward to "the REST of the story" as the late great Paul Harvey used to say.
  • emmettb
I can relate with not "liking" people! :)
  • Lorraine
I quess I was out of the loop since this is the first I have heard of this book. I bought it and looking forward to reading it.
  • kamalharris
I have to get this "Greatest Networker in the world" book. I'm not familiar with it but I can tell from the comments and what John Fogg is saying that this is a must-have.
  • crwood1967
I read this book maybe 3-4 years after it came out and I remember how much of an impact this had on me at the time. It was impactful, but it has taken me years to find the right company that worked for me.
  • tyroneholmes
I need to pick up that book. Thank You
  • I'll have to read John's book properly now, I'm sure I'll learn some valuable lessons. I remember picking it up when I first got involved in the industry but never read it all. Looking forward to the rest of the interview
  • Mark Dickson
I listen to this book over and over in my car in the early 2000's. It always help me stay in the business.
  • "The Greatest networker In The World" and "The Greatest Salesman In The World" should be mandatory reading for all new network marketers... both great books.
  • Mark from Germany
Loved the book(s), changed my life, interesting to encouter the man who wrote it ..
  • quintaser
<< If some body read this>>>, belive me, it´s true, try the Og Mandino Scrolls therapy, your life will change, I am about to start the third scroll next monday, finally I have betten some bad habits, that I had been struggling with, turst me, it works, I am a new person, and I am only finishing the second scroll, wait till september, I can´t wait to see all the changes ahead, try it, it´s free, but you must believe.

From Puebla Mexico, I am Sergio Quintana
  • JenniferDu79
Interesting the history of his book and how he was throwing back to Og Mandino. Definitely will add to my list of books to read.
  • lisamb84
Relationships are fundamental to our existence as humans AND as network marketers. Thanks, Gentlemen!
  • Jorge Longoria
another interesting interview. that's true, relationships are fundamental in this business bu,t what books would you recommend to people to improve this issue? thanks, have a great day!
  • feltricks
I really love the interviews with this million dollar earners.
I really don't get why if all of this MLM millionaires merge on the basic concepts, there are so many people doing what they did when they started.
Kind of crazy, that's why being coachable is so important.
Anyway, the first thing I was taught to do was to develop the ability to maintain an endless prospect list, that means, work on my relations. First fundamental point.
    Great interview.
  • gerritbronkhorst
Lol..it's almost frightening. Everytime I comment on a NMPRO video, the next time that subject is coming up. :) I'm so grateful that you came up with JMF, since I have been wondering always who's the Greatest Networker. Can't wait for the next shows.
  • dawnmarielagmay
Interesting thoughts about relationships....the scale of 1-10 being a 12 shows me that more than ANYTHING, I NEED to improve upon my relationship, (people) skills! Speaking and listening....more focused on listening....people skills create better relationships.....
  • barryburgin77
I have heard it said many times, that NM is a Relationship business. Quite frankly, Eric Worre has done an outstanding job of demonstrating relationship building by having his shows every day. I found out about Eric quite by accident and he certainly doesn't know me but I feel a connection through his programs. I am also looking forward to meeting him in San Francisco next month.
  • Jilliangene
So true!! I wish I could be there also. I would love to see him in person. The face to face is always better and I would love to speak with him on a less structured setting. He proves a relationship can be created on-line and the follow up is what keeps it grown with this site. Have a great time!!
    Jillian
  • juliehawkins
I agree with you about this being a relationship business since I have started communicating more and listening more to my prospects and what they are truly looking for and having the solution has just put me and many others in a great position to help one another. Thank you again.

    Sincerely

    Julie Hawkins
  • clairecameron
So many reminders that the technology is a great tool when used to enhance relationships. But it doesn't replace "speaking and listening". It is an extra channel.
  • andreabyrge
I had to laugh at the thought of how hard it would be to suceed in this business if you hated people! Seems like a no brainer that you would have to like people, but if there's a book that well recommended on the subject, then I should get a copy and read it!
  • Irina
Yes, I agree that NM is the relationship business that we build and partnership. We must learn how to love people and work with those we like.
  • I guess I have another book to read
Sounds like a good one though
  • mspaulamc
The Master ... I can never hear John Milton Fogg too much - what a cool guy!
  • Yikes! How do you do ANY kind of interpersonal business if you don't like people!
  • Words from the Master. Thank You.
  • debcrow
So many comments about 'not liking people'. I like the people I like, my challenge is liking the people I do not like, I know this is just the mirroring of me. Nice to be able to narrow down the areas I need to work on. Thanks for this interview and looking forward to the next 3. :D
  • I have that book 'The Greatest Networker'. I'm going to re-read it again.
  • This is a relationship "ship" business. I just ordered the book and can't wait to start reading and move my business forward!
  • Pete
Ok...I'm going to read the book again
  • bartar20
I agree relationships are so important, in all aspects of your life and your business

    Barry
  • kristibateman
Great start to a new week.
    Thanks Eric
  • kgadol
We should never underestimate the value of our relationships. Personally, I'm committed to focusing on being a better listener, leader, friend ...
  • Tina
I am going to have to get that book. It will be great to get a personal visual of what it can be like for me as a new comer.
  • Hans
Succes leaves clues...hard work....do it when u dont feel like it....dedication....tell the story over and over again and transfer belief....
  • Hans
    It's a VISION!
  • alltheverybest
SUCH a treat to hear from JMF 'in the flesh' as it were. First read the Greatest Networker about 6 years ago. Loved it then still do. The vision of him entering the world of his mentor and beginning to believe that he too could be of that calibre (UK spelling!) has remained with me ever since.
As always Eric - you sure can pick 'em! Thanks.

  • Luis Gringras
Great to know the author of the Greatest Networker, I have a new book to learn more about this great profession
  • conniegleave
Interesting 'back-story' of how John didn't plan on initially signing the book. I love the term: Enlightened Sponsor. (I'm definitely going to to steal that one...lol)
  • nikigombis
Can't wait for he next one.

How did he make such a dramatic change to like people?
  • germanjaramillo
As one day Tim Foley, Crown Ambassador from Amway, said: This business y is a volume an relations. In my case, i had the same expierience of John Milton. In the begining of my mlm profession in 2003, i didn't like people too. Somebody told me to read the book How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie. Since that time, i changes my life, and much things around me change for well a lot.

I excuse for fail yesterday with my usually post. I had a failed with the internet..but here i am.

    In this case from Bogota,

More validation on how big relationships are. The key but the key in business and in life
  • latachia_2
Relationship is the key! Learn to be a good listner.
  • luciabrazell
it is what it is DIRECT SALES and sometimes you have to get out of your comfort zone I know I am IT'S HARD but one day it will be an everyday thing LOVE this video
  • randyhendrickson
This type of marketing I believe is built on relationships. I also believe those who choose not to get involved are not people who believe in relationship.
  • donham298
What a way to start a morning. Listening to you two guys discussing this incredible business.
  • A great interview Eric.......the point is well taken. So many times people think that it's about the money. Find them .....capture them and then leave them. We are in the supply of people's needs business. IT MUST START WITH RELATIONSHIPS. Don't rush the prospect....pre-qualify by talking to them and see if they really have a need that you can fill.
thanks Eric for being a real PRO,
    james
  • Jilliangene
I love that - we are the supplier of people's needs business. A lot of the time they don't even know and afraid of thier needs.
  • Thank you......It seems that most people are afraid to step out side of the 9 to 5 box that they are in. They can see that their future is leading down a road of disaster but.......they are afraid to do anything about it. They can sit in front of a television screen and watch judge shows, and soap operas, and comedy shows, and reality shows, and sports shows, and we could go on and on. What do they gain! NOTHING! It's the greatest addiction......escape from true reality. They have lost the GAME OF LIFE!
Lets keep in touch.... I will be starting a blog soon. For now maybe we can e-mail.
    james
  • Mark_Abrahams
John Milton Fogg's "Greatest Networker In The World" was the first NWM focused book I ever read - am new to the business. As JFM says, since 1992 it has done its thing - and helped many others do their thing. The learning from this, interview 1 of 4, includes the thing about 'SHIP BUILDING' - behaving as an 'enlightened sponsor', developing habits and relationships. Thanks again Eric.
  • Thanks for arranging this interview. I read John's book about 5 years ago and I thought it was a great idea to write about Network Marketing in this way. It's true what John says that you can show people exactly what they need to do but I believe that without the burning desire to 'get it done' a lot of people fall by the wayside (in any profession).
  • gloriavintila
For me, the relationship aspect starts from the point where I am running my business with my fiance. Then it extends to the fact that I am collaborating with my sister and my mother. Relationship is the factor that enhances credibility in the network marketing profession.
  • Relationships and Partnerships ;)
  • lucbehar
    I love that book!
    Relationship i so key!
Look around us how we have been all building very strong relationship with our teams and preferred customer
  • MarvinTowler
I love these two statements: "It's a vision of what's possible in network marketing, how it's possible to behave as an enlightened sponsor." "Network marketing is THE RELATIONSHIP BASED BUSINESS!"
  • Relationship is the glue that sticks our business togther
  • Erik
I totaly agree. That`s why I don`t think webinars 6 times a week is the solution. You need more than that. The greatest people in our industry are telling us that all the time. Only webinars is cold and will not build relationships in the same way :)
  • So right Erik. Watching your computer only will never create a big organisation, you have to apply action. E.g. have guests on every webinar. I know people attending live meeting month after month and they never recruit. If you don´t do the basics you will never be successful, no matter what system you work. In our Team we do live Events 5 times /year; 3 nationally and 2 internationally. We build up to them, promoting them under a long time, and for every Event we increase drastically. It´s not Old - or New school, not either or..it´s both. The combination of modern tecniques and live meeting is unbeatable :-)
  • The damnger of watcing reality MLM is that you forget to implement the lessons yourself and build your own business. Webinar watching can both be a huge aid to growing a business AND also to stumbling block that prevents self discovery and experimentation. Good comment Erik and Olav ;)
  • Erik
And thank you for your comment David :) I do use webinars and think they are important when it comes to education and also long distance prospecting. But nothing beats live meetings. One friend of mine is atending a webinar 6 days a week and he is so bussy. But have not recruited one single person for months. So I totaly agree that webinars so easily becomes a stumbling block. It`s easy to hide behind the computer and HOPE that your business will grow because you are watching at your screen. But at the same time we must use the tecnology we have. Localy I always do meetings, small, medium and large, but if my prospect is more than 100 km away I try to use webinars or the phone :)
  • david_high
I am looking forward to the rest of this interview
  • It's all about relationship!! I'm not sure if I'm good at creating and maintaining good relationship with people. But I do like supporting people. Does that count?
  • Support is what holds a relationship together. When someone needs food give them food and support them with a means to make their own. SUPPORT HOLDS IT TOGETHER!
  • Thank you so much for your encouraging message!
  • MarvinTowler
If you like supporting people you'll create value for people and when you do that you will build a bond of trust and loyalty. So I say YES, that does count!!!
  • Great! Thank you. :)
  • I love people so NM should feel like a natural for me but yet, I am going thru a lot of growth learning how to talk to people in a natural way... It is like learning how to walk all over again... Great topic!
  • I agree also, it's like going back to school for me
  • I think a lot of people get stuck in 'presenting' their idea. I think it would help if we have more 'conversations' than 'presentations' - I don't know about everyone else but I am more interested in why a person is doing this, than how, especially at first.
  • Hi Janet,
I feel the same way. Its as if we have to learn somehow to communicated with people ;) I love the learning though and its good to be told by other people how i'm changing for the better as a more social open person ;) -d-
  • lynn hall
Developing relationships is the key and learning to talk to people.
  • Dee_Canada
Yep...i hve to agree. Building relationships is a skill that is essential!!
  • Awesome you are interviewing John Milton Fogg...read his book over Xmas ( couple of times)....just the best !!! If you have not read it ...it is a MUST !!!
Relationship based business and importance of relationships is 12 on a scale of 1-10.....great advice
  • Bea Resnick
I paused the video and ordered the book! What does that say? I’m looking forward to watching the rest of the interview!
  • Javed Iqbal
Eric you rock this time to bringing JMF live. What a man! John Milton Fogg’s contributions for the NWM industry are highly respected. Though I already read the book but today the story behind the book awakens the desire in me to re-read the book.

What a beautiful note: “RelationSHIP, FriendSHIP, SponsorSHIP, LeaderSHIP”
And YOU are the captain of this SHIP

This is a very important issue ... this business is people talking with people, sharing, helping each other ... and certanly if you´re not good in that, this is going to be a way to grow as a person like anything else in the worl, this is my case, I kind of shy person, not good to speak in public, but had been taken the marker to do presentations, had been so wonderfull. I have received more in personal growing, that in a monetry wy, that´s will come later .. LOve MLM!!!!
  • aliceclifford
Hi Eric I in joyed your interview with Mr. Fogg you are realy bring some good PRO'S into our lives. this is good . We geting good info from all sides. Thanks A.C.
  • Ngoc Tran
Yes, I am also looking forward to reading John's books. The great point in this interview is that NM is a relationship based business: fall in like, fall in love and create better connection with people. I love the way you run this page, Eric!
  • rosslopez
Eric, let me tell you I'm very proud to be part of an MLM business =o)
Since I started working on it, I've spent a lot more of my time listening and talking to people, I used to be in a rush all the time and never had the time to talk to my friends or someone else.
Now I enjoy having conversations with people, I really like it, not only because that will help to the business but because I like to hear what they think and what what I can learn from them, even if it's a personal or professional thing.
Now I have many new friends and I think I'm having good and stronger relationships.
Thanks for sharing this great interview.
    Hugs from Mexico
    Rossana =o)

I am looking forward to reading John's book, mainly because others have written that he is fabulous at teaching how to ask the right questions. I believe this is key in developing relationships to where I am adding value to others. Sometimes in my excitement to show someone my product, I forget to ask important questions to glean what problem they are wanting to solve. I love being inspired by great minds that have a deep understanding and knowledge of how to be successful in this business.
  • SJ Doug
    another great interview serious!
  • Robertdiggsjr
    Its all about relationships
  • Darnell
The way to make a successful lifestyle in Network Marketing is thru real connections with people face to face and it does require one being a listener and cares for the other person's goals and aspirations. This interview is sounding to start on a very good note...Looking 4ward to the next video. Thx!!
  • dterrell
Network Marketing is a relationship business is key to being successful. Excellent interview thanks!
  • Eric, I hope you are having a fabulous time in Australia! Thanks for keeping the posts going and this promises to be another good one...I like--- on a scale of 1-10, relationships are a 12!! That's pretty clear!
  • mchalk
This theme about NM being a relationship and people business seems fundamental to the whole "word of mouth" concept! Makes me wonder why anyone who doesn't enjoy meeting and connecting to people on the whole would consider doing it. Your guest is great and entertaining with his up front manner-will look into the book.
  • This one's going to be interesting.
    Strong character.
    Relationship, friendship, leadership, sponsorship.
Fall "in like" and "in love" with people.
Can't wait for next parts (and the uncut version)
  • mbryant
Intriguing. I must get the book now.
  • margarethockaday
As all the greats state, relationship is the key.
  • Gustavo Muñoz - Colombia
Interesting the concept of this book. Based on a vision of what you could do. It is all about relationships
  • Dave S
My take away today is more clearly defining Network Marketing as "a relationship based business built on leadership" Keep the the guest speakers and book suggestions coming Eric. Thank you for sharing your network of people with all of us.
  • bartonmurray
Greatest Networker is still one of the best:) JMF is a true professional....
  • jennyc
    Loved it, relationships are key.
  • raybeattie
It is about building the relationships. What did Sherman Inkefer say 90% of the people in the room were there because of a friend? Thanks Eric.
  • Eric, Keep it coming. Funny how things work. I was having a mental conversation with myself driving home from the JOB about the subject of not really caring much for people. A self battle I've fought for years. Must have more info on how he overcame this in his life.
  • jc13
There is a large need amongst children to have friends and role models. Give up the adults who disappoint you. Let a child break your heart open. Join a group that spends time at the children's cancer centers, become a foster care respite parent, become aware of the battle raging for the lives of autistic kids. I'm not trying to be facetious. Someone, somewhere is waiting for you to show up in their life.
  • Tarashon Broomes
the key to network marketing is the relationships and partnerships. to be successful in network marketing you have to be able to talk to people
  • Art D lasvegas
So very very true> It is all about the relationships.
  • Daniel Glez.Peña
HI ERIC,THE INTERVIEW WAS GOOD BUT THE FIRST MINUTE HE LOOKS LIKE ANGRY,JAJAJA.

    SALUDOS.
    DANIEL Y NATALI,QRO.
  • davidgreene
a Powerful beginning episode for sure! I have known of & have known John Fogg since the early 90's and he hasn't changed a bit. He does not sugarcoat anything and once again Eric, a Gazillion Thanks for Creating this Priceless Website & I'm looking forward to The Webinar on Feb.3rd.
  • mikeyfromvegas
HI eric, again you have pulled out another winner out of the hat. John comes out already saying like others this is a "eye to eye belly to belly" business I will read his book. Thank you again see you tomorrow
    Mikey
  • I am so glad you got Mr. Fogg on... he has been such a great inspiration to me and many others.

Looking forward to the next 3 parts of the interview!
  • bghcancun
like the theme, and can´t wait to see the rest
  • A great start to what will be a great interview.
    Thanks.
  • This is one of the books I read every year as a refresher. Though I never noticed the main character wasn't given a name. Think I should reread again! I love the relationship marketing. Reminds me of the healthcare delivery system model at my hospital which is Relationship Based Care. Caring about about people is the key in every business.
  • keith murfet
Hi Eric. A belated welcome to Oz. Are you visiting any other areas while you're here (apart from Melbourne for the tennis)? John Milton Fogg - one of The Best - brings it all back again to 'relationship marketing'. How simple yet so profound!!
  • Does anyone know what the points represent? Who gives them? Where do you give them? Why do you give them? Thanks for any guidance on this.
  • Earl
I like the fact of the marketing the marketer... It makes wonder how we can look at the business and not look at us doing the business without relationships. We need to put ourselves as the Professional that get a check, and not just the person collecting a check for Network Marketing.
How do we Relate to the people that we are talking with about our Business/Products...? A person with needs or just a "number" on our way to a number on a check.
  • georgeman
I've always liked J.M. Fogg, he is a brain, just a great thinker. He is very in love with the industry, and does all he can to support it. He is a teacher that subscribes to the philosophy of asking the right questions in teaching. His book "The greatest Networker in the World" teaches how asking the right questions is a better way. "Breaking the Rules" by Kurt Wright is a book that sets the stage for this kind of teaching (simply one of the smartest books you can get your hands on, pure gold), and Mr Fogg supports this philosophy in teaching.

I have "The greatest Networker in the World" in book and audio format, a great book. I also love the book "It's time for Network Marketing" also by JM Fogg. It has over fifty successful N. Marketing people writing about our industry, simply awesome.

Thank You Eric for doing what you do, I am an avid reader and a listener of a lot of business related and self development audio, and in my few years of being involved in this industry, I have yet to find a better resource than the one you have created here.
    Thank You Eric and John.
  • FrankMarshman
Thank you fro your comments on my comment and also for the suggestion for another book to my library. Personal development is one of the most important aspects of relationship marketing as network marketing is. Only my wife could love me as I am so I have to work on making me more agreeable to everyone else and it is a long road to trudge, mostly up hill..
  • carolmcwilliams
Thanks for these book suggestions. I will order them tonight. I agree with you learning the art of asking the right questions is to critical for success.

    Thanks!
  • I'm so glad you interviewed John. He's a legend in this business. I didn't know that John Kalench had passed. What a loss. I have to re-read his book. Have fun in Australia!
  • There is no doubt that we are in a "relationship building" business. The worst part about Network Marketing is we are "dealing with people". The best part about Network Marketing is we are DEALING WITH PEOPLE". This is why were are so "special".
  • Gakungu
I look forward to reading that book. John is right. When you develop these relationships, one tends to be a good listener.
  • karenandian
Interview 1 of 4 with John Milton Fogg. We have not read the book The Greatest Networker in the World yet - it is now on our must obtain and read list. The fact that this is a relationship business. To hear that John Milton Fogg didn't like people and to see his success today is inspiring! We can't wait to hear the rest of the interview.
    Karen & Ian
  • dougharkins
Good books to read and quotes to be inspired by, looking forward to the rest of this interview.
  • Bernadette
My network marketing business is all about perrsonal growth. this is anotherbook to add to the collection!
  • HoracioMejia
In life, a lot more things than we think are about relationships. Partnership and leadership are just types of relationships or ways to relate to people depending on the circumstances. I will read this book as soon as I can.
  • susanclark
#226 - John Milton Fogg Interview 1 of 4 - I totally agree with Eric and John that the fundamental part of network marketing is building relationships. I have not read John's book, The Greatest Networker in the World but I am going to get a copy and read it. Thanks.
  • I like the reference to relationships with both your team and your prospects. I also like the reference to the fact we grow as we build these relationships to help others be all they can be.
  • In this business you earn when you help others to develop their organizations. You have to build partnership relations with your downline and upline.
I think this professsion is one of the most humane ones.
  • JudasPierce
yea!....another interview...i will take notes for this one too.
  • janetrajala
Can't wait for the rest of the interview. I've only seen his name in print, but haven't read his book. Will get it ordered right away.
  • Network Marketing is great profession. It is everything for me. It changed my life and to join NM was my best decision ever made.
    I Can Do This!
  • Ellis3
J Fogg, Upline, TGN ... so much love and support from Mr. Fogg! The community of networkers around the world owe a great deal of our collective success to this gentleman! I had waited a long time for you to interview him Eric!
  • orlyalbo
No doubt it's about realationship that based on real fraindshipe and cooperation.
    I love this business!!!
It's about how much i want to be coachable and teachable. and i want it very much. it is fascinating me.
  • Jose Lopez
WOW! What a great present to the NMPro community! Big fan of the book and Mr. Fogg's blogs and seminars! Looking forward to the rest of the interview!

MLM is definitely a relationship business! I have seen so so so so many people that are talented. smart, sharp and still fail in the business precisely because they can't figure out the "relationship" aspect of it ... If there is one ability we need to focus on, I think, is learning to relate to people.
  • kayanita
Amazing that Mr. Fogg is saying the importance of relationships.... very similar to Sherman
  • Definetly this is the best way to earn money. You earn as you develop relationships. It is just a matter of become someone important to people and then let them know you can be even more important to them by sharing the way you do business!

I think this is great. Definetly a "must have" book.
  • karivankleef
I have a few more books to read. Thanks for a great interview.
  • Never read the book, but this one I got: it's all about relationships, building trust amongst people and leadership.

That's what I like about it... it makes me grow and get to people.
  • Most “How to” books are written AT you. John Fogg wrote the book “The Greatest Networker in the World” with the intention to get people involved. NM is a SPECIAL relationship business.

If it's true that we are here to help others,
then what exactly are the others here for?
  • maariee
I have to read that book. Looking forward on the next show. Thank you
  • onemartymac
    Just awesome stuff!!!

Greatest Networker in the World is A must read. No excuses, if you haven't read it get it NOW.

    Get it here http://JohnMiltonFogg.com

  • pollyhulseman
Sounds like I have a few more books to read!
  • Establishing relationships is bringing people into the story - not just talking at people or teaching 'how to' - and that is the key to any business that doesn't rely strictly on price or convenience. The better you are at bringing value to your relationships the more successful your business will be. Enjoy!
  • karenandian
Wow, that's perfect. I totally agree, and honoring the person for who they are and what they do is huge!
  • I've been a member of John's "Mastermind Sessions" for a while. He's an awesome guy!! Our business is no doubt, built 100% on relationships and building great culture with our organizations!!
  • Relationships are the key to success. I didn't know he was the author of that book.
  • enrique62
I have not been good at building relationship.
  • theuns
    Hi Eric

WOW WOW WOW I read the book i listen to the book and i love the book John and i want to say thank you.

Relationship is the ship you need to make a success in MLM , no relationship now team no customers no money that is the bottom line.

I cant wait to hear the reas , atlast we see the man behind the book .

    Thanks Again Eric and Jhon
  • Lisette
Another book I am going to read.
And thanks for the link, John!
  • This is definitely a people business. Great interview! I have to admit, I need to re-read The Greatest Networker. I read it a long time ago.

I spent a lot of years online as an affiliate marketer, which makes it easy to hide behind a website. Unless you're teaching affiliate marketing, you don't have to talk to anyone.

It's not that I don't like people, I do. I LOVE people! Maybe that's part of why it's so exciting for me to have come back to network marketing these last few years.

For me, there was no fulfillment in affiliate marketing, there was no sense of purpose.
  • BetterCoffee.dk

That's why I love this business!
    Relationships!
Looking forward to hearing what else Mr. Fogg has to share!
  • chipc
I can relate to John's beginning. I was an engineer. I much preferred working with objects than people. This has been a real challenge to me. Looking forward to the rest of this interview.
  • socorro
thanks Eric I ll make sure to get the book. great information
  • hillin
Greatest Networker in the World one of the major book of our profession - A must read. No excuse
  • FrankMarshman
Thanks, pretty impressive. I am enjoying this entire program series so much. The company I was in before thought that anyone else who was not part of their business and specifically their line of sponsorship should never be listened to. They also did and still are charging huge amounts of money for that information.
What other network marketing companies do and how they go about business is transferable to almost any other network marketing business. Just as how a doctor practices medicine is of interest and perhaps education to another doctor.
  • georgeman
Getting the info from anywhere we can, either by paying or for free is very important. Yet, It's a very unfortunate thing that there are so many people in and out of the business that get the wrong info about our industry, or their own company, from bad sources, and get blown out of their business. I understand why the NM companies that have a good education system (step by step) horde info and frown upon business owners going elsewhere. Their independent contractors (us) are so frail and easily derailed when first starting their business, that it becomes dangerous for them just to surf the net.

I personally have payed for a steady stream of cds and books for several years which have positively changed my thinking and my life (like mostly all the companies offer). Company specific tools are absolutely essential in building a duplicatable business and rarely ever free (this might be a great question for Eric), but that doesn't mean when we have developed a backbone in this industry, that we shouldn't be able to look elsewhere for info beneficial to our growth (our growth also benefits our company of course). I basically agree with you 100%, and also am a big fan of company specific tools (books, cds, etc.) in a good solid system.
  • karenandian
I agree, it does not matter which company you choose, they way to build any of these companies will always be in the same manor you do have to find one that's a fit for you. Just different produces.
  • krisic
I can't wait to see the rest of the interview. I'm getting the book this week! I get so tired of hearing people say that they don't think they can do this because they are not a people person.
  • I’ve heard of his book before but haven’t read it yet. But I will soon. Looking forward to the rest of this interview
  • Pepeneto
"I failed because I did´t like people" hehe...Great!!. Its all about relationship and partnership. Im going to read the book. Thank you..
  • PaulineP
    A Big point here...liking people....
  • TAbrams
I have added his book to my list and will read it within the coming days.

Great start to the interview. I love to hear and have it re-iterated the importance of relationships in our profession. The "RELATIONSHIP" based business..

I like how he touches on the concept of Web2.0 and the new social mediums - referring to them as methods used to connect individuals or groups together to further develop and strengthen the "Relationship"..

This interview will also give hope to many who have come in this business or believe they are not suited for this business as they don't like people. Hearing his story and reading his book and blog provide great insight to overcoming this and seeing the Vision of what is possible within our industry.
  • It's unfortunate the Network Marketing business gets such a bad rap when the pure nature of the business is to build relationships with people. I'm surprised I haven't heard of the book however, that will soon be rectified when it's added to my library. Thanks for sharing this great interview and knowledge.
  • jean_albert
Relationships! Can't build thoses without talking to people. Some people think you can just email & facebook yourself to success. Tools help contact people BUT 1 on 1 is still required. and a good daily method of operation (consistency). thanks for the interview, looking forward to tomorrow's edition.
  • martinvf
I don't think I'm a very social person. I think I've been more since one year ago when I started in MLM, than before.
I'm glad to ear from someone who considered himself to "not like people" in the past and have such success now in MLM.
MLM gives the possibility not only to get FINANCIALY rich, but also "FRIENDSHIPLY" RICH!!!

    Saludos from Aguascalientes, Mexico.

    Martín V.
  • I don't feel that guilty, anymore, about having a hard time sharing my time with people. I am always surprised, now that I must seek their company, how nice most of them are.
  • juanfernandogutierrez
Building relationships and two a day....
  • germarl
Many thanks for another great interview -
  • Donna Wheaton
I am excited about this interview I read the book and loved it. I can't wait until part 2. I also thought it was great that he said at first he didn't like people I hear people say that all the time.
  • christinaglazar
How wonderful to be able to hear from another "Master in the business" - it is so true this business is about people and relationships. All people I sponsored so far became first my friends before joining me in my quest for success!
  • Susan Peluso
Good interview so far! I'll have to get his book.
  • gillym1
This is so true and actually it's a common theme that runs through any successful networkers training library!
  • Bjorgli
Interesting. I'm looking foreward to number two and will be looking for his book.
  • eugenejohnson
He said you have to learn to love people....and its funny that in this society you reall do have to "Learn" to love people...sad but true....Touch a heart B4 you ask for a hand
  • TGN book gave me a lot of hope...and it still does !!!
  • Maxwellhealth
Indeed..spent a couple of lazy afternoons this summer in the backyard listening to "The Greatest Networker" on the ipod....a great reminder that "relationships" is the cornerstone of a thriving NWM businesses.
  • I downloaded the .mp3 a year ago and put it on my Zen player. I listen to it when I'm exercising, sleeping, or just need a boost! Great way to "do the business".

    Thanks John!
  • drpricedc
Stories are such a great learning tool. Brilliant to teach the lessons of successful networking using a story. Love it.
  • Relationships - That's why I LOVE network marketing!
  • tambry
I read "The Greatest Networker in the World" back in 96/97. I need to dust it off and read it again.
  • CarlosVera
This first part of the interview was great and the rest looks very promising. I can't wait to grab this book and The best you can be in MLM......

Relationships............this is a word that all by itself defines our industry.........
  • nickgarrison
This is funny. I just bought an e-book of "The Greatest Networker in the world" as well as the audio file. I am looking forward to listening to it. I loved his comment on you have to like people. That being said this business is not for everyone. I need to realize that when I am presenting the opportunity to people
  • brianhepner
Greatest Networker in the World... I'm intrigued. I've never read it, but it sounds like i need to.
  • Stephen
No I have not read Milton's book. Yes, it is a book I will add to my list. Looking forward to hear further development in the coming interviews.
  • Eric:
Thanks for giving us this interview with JMF. You have the unique and unparalleled ability to provide something for everyone, from anywhere, at any time of the day or night. This makes you the “Esperanto of Network Marketing Professionals “ Your are truly amazing to me and set a high curve for all of us to emulate. You leave on another extended journey and yet are able to deliver a consistent and fascinating set of conversations while you are traveling the Sothern Cross down under. Well done!
I am grateful to John Milton Fogg for his comments today and look forward to the remainder of the interview. I have already signed up for his newsletter and downloaded his book which I will absorb and put to work as I polish my skill sets.
I am amazed every day with the different people I get to meet in the normal course of building a Professional Network Marketing Team. Each day I meet strangers and find that at the end of the day, I have added a colleague or two, with many of these strangers becoming friends and partners in our business. What an amazing business this is. The system for how to make it work, while ongoing , is presented though your daily missives & redefined by you and others who are open to sharing with each of us your expert opinions, guidelines, and suggestions on how each of us can become what author Dan Caramanico calls “The Optimal Salesperson”.
  • So far the jury is out on this interview - nothing significant in the first clip that hasn't been said before and Sherman is a hard act to follow with his evident charisma. Enjoy your trip.
  • dlinkhart
It was interesting to me to hear him say that he didn't like people and so he was not a success until he was able to teach (?) himself to do that. I would really like to hear more about how he was able to change his whole personality to be something he was not.
  • Hi Eric! Relationships = Our business . / Linda, Sweden
  • beckydesabah
True value of our business is in relationships.... starting the minute we decide to become a network marketer.
I've read "The Greatest Networker in the World" a couple of times and actually am reading other material he generously gave out for those who are participating in a 90-Day challenge with him.
Thank you Eric for bringing John's wisdom to us.
Thank you John for sharing your wisdom and knowledge.
    I appreciate you.
  • I like the thoughts of transferring ownership in his book and writing it in a way that is about relating to the reader and not talking at the reader as most books and tutorials do these days no matter what the topic. I look forward to the rest of the interview.
  • Well, this should be a good one Eric.
I have not read The Greatest Networker in the World..... yet, but I look forward to hearing the rest of this interview.
  • Thanks for during this interview Eric! Mr. Foggs' book really inspired me to be a network marketer.
  • racingworm
It's always about relationships in Networking. We look for people that are looking. People skills ,to me, are the basics in this business
  • Hey Eric, I"m pretty lousy at commenting on this kind of stuff lol, but love your work and have downloaded this this book! 2010 is going to be a year of personal growth development and more comments, so here's to the first one! :) Jess
  • mrmauriocrawford
Great Vid so far. John Milton Fogg! This is awesome. I remember listening to the audio version of his book, "The Greatest Networker" and listening so intently and being so driven to hear every word of that book in my heart.

Truly an awesome story. YES, I did find myself picturing me as the protagonist/hero of the story. OMG.

    MAURIO
  • Tony
Ironically I just read The Greatest Networker in the past few days. I'm really looking forward to hearing what else this guy has to say.
  • Never a doubt that this is a relationship business.
  • Edith Kohler
Already post my comment (as a guest)on part two of the interview. As I did many times before
But I think now it's ok,There is "verified"next to my name now.
  • jlconner
Terrific lesson. This is a relationship business and if you don't like relationships stay away from network marketing. I look forward to to reading the book
  • carybennett
Thanks eric, more value to learn looking forward to the rest. hope your having fun on your trip
  • jpmendoza
Another interview with very good information. I had not heard of John Milton before but I can not wait for the next interview. I am off to locate & buy his book.
  • Ernesto_Busnelli
John mentions of his struggle with dealing with people initially and
    turning that around.
Hummm... I can use some of that too.
    Interesting person, concepts and interview.
  • timandtricia
It's always good too hear from JOhn Fogg. His book was the first one I read when I started in Network Marketing.
  • I've made some great relationships online over the years, but nothing beats the relationships I've made face to face. This is what keeps our business and life fun!
  • Relationships with people, once again, very important. Good message. Looking forward to more of this interview.
  • daddykekere
For John to break out from being a non-people person to developing relationships is simply amazing. It means we can do anything we set our minds to do. We mostly choose not to. Success therefore is doing what is required, not what is convenient. Thanks to you both for sharing.
  • fc34615
Had never heard of John before, but can't wait to learn from his teachings.
    Thanks Eric,
    Fernando.
  • Edith Kohler
So now I have to read the book of course,I'm curious already about the second part and about the book.
I like the fact relationships are so important ,because that's really me
  • Bryan_in_KC
I didn't really start to LIVE until I came out of my shell and began to build relationships. We are designed to be relational beings. I believe there is a void in the life of a "loner" that can only be filled by engaging in relationship. Good start to what I believe to be a great interview.
  • Relationships and partnerships - amen! If we can spread that philosophy, level by level, within our business group there is NOTHING we can't do ...

REALLY looking forward to the rest of the interview.

    Best,
    Scott
  • It is a relationship business. I love the idea of shipping and receiving. It is all about how we create relationships with others and add value to their lives. Thanks so much. Look forward to the rest of the interview. Make it a great day!
    God Bless!
  • jbledsoejr
This interview is off to a great start. I've never read his book...on my list now...I will read it. Thanks Eric & John!
  • dstfa96
Our profession of network marketing is all about relationships. To be successful you have to like people and develop relationships with them.
  • This is going to be fun.
    Love it.

    Relationships: 12 on a scale of 10!

Self help books talk AT you.
  • quincy
The relationships you build in this business are what make it fun. Makin lots of money with people you like. GREAT.
  • I totally agree with you. What fun would it to be to make a lot of money with people you do not like?
  • quincy
Thanks Edward. It's either that or have a lot of people that you like but you all dont make the money you like.
  • amberaimshigh
I have read this book over and over again! Awesome to have Mr Fogg on your show! Looking forward to the rest of the week!
  • highimpact0406
It was nice to hear the emphasis on relationship building in network marketing. I think sometimes, it may have a tendency to take the back burner behind "the business" aspect of it. I think it is critical that people in this business make sure they don't lose the relationship/authentic side of this. Thank you!
  • Vern Trabue
I've read the book. It's outstanding! Looking forward to the rest of the interview.
  • Great interview Eric ! I'm really loving the whole skype thing, but I thought we might get a glance of Hayman Island.
  • coltsco
Very interesting man. I'm looking forward to the rest of the interview and also reading his book.
  • Daniel W. Cook III

I'm sure Eric will post this somewhere but if you look through the comments John Milton Fogg posted his website where you can get the book and/or audio book for free. http://JohnMiltonFogg.com.
I've heard about this book several times, looking forward to reading it myself.
  • Thanks for the link Daniel.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless!
  • Thanks for posting this link!

Another great interview. Love to hear that not all were successful initially. I will definitely read Mr. Fogg's book
  • This has to be one of the best series yet. Wow! I never thought I was in "shipping" The idea of Network Marketing as begin number 12 in importance on a 1-10 scale just about sums it up.
  • KeithN
Just started reading the "Greatest Networker" book yesterday. A very engaging and powerful story. How serendipitous that Eric has provided us this great interview with John Milton Fogg. We are in the " 'shipp'-ing and receiving" business. Relationships, partnerships, leadership, etc. Looking forward to more wisdom being shared this week.
  • I have been expecting this interview with John Milton Fogg long time, thank you Eric for having to watch this greatest networker in the world, thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.
  • Definetly and people business.
  • pickertn
No wonder corporate america is failing! you rarely experience true relationship building where you must help others to help yourself. MLM will out live all!
  • Eileen
Very good. He became animated about how he learned to like people. We all become animated when we are passionate about Network Marketing.
  • nancy eldred
Eric - Another individual that brings class and dignity to Network Marketing !!!
I'm going to get John Milton Fogg's book

.. NO SNAKE OIL SALESMEN ON NM PRO ..
  • Relationships are, "learning to like people" Good to hear that even successful people had to struggle with this in the beginning.
  • very true, it all starts with a good know, like, trust relationship before the start of a business partnership
  • kgoren
Relationship based business....one of the fundamental things that seperate us...making those real life connections.
  • lopazelasane
WoW...great interview I have read the books and listen to the audio "The Greatest Networker In the World" I was inspired. Its all about relationships not only in networking but in our lives as well.

    Thanks!
  • rmonte
Ralationships is the glue that keeps this together and nothing will ever replace that. Its like the saying goes,"people don't care how much you know until they know how much you care". Thank you for keeping us on track.

Thanks for interviewing John Milton Fogg, can’t wait until tomorrow….
Two great books “The greatest networker in the world” and
”Being the best you can be in MLM” (Going to read them again )

It comes through loud and clear it is all about relationships.

    Thanks a million.
  • Kjell Englund
Real life relationships take your business forward. All the big guys in business talk about it. it´s absolutely another important tool to use :-) Thank you John, now it´s time to listen to your book.
  • Episode 17 of Eric Worre's 100 Episode Throw Down Challenge:

Great interview... The marketing of not putting his name on the book would have been brilliant... I completely agree about not talking at the person whether it is in book, tapes or in person.. The more a person can relate the better the results..
  • gabor73
    Hi Eric,

Thank you for this video. I red The Greatest Networker in the World. It's a great book. I'm glad to see the Greatest Networker in life. I'm also on John's website. Great to see him personally. Looking forward to the next episodes.
  • Foord Yates
Yes, MLM is the ultimate relationship-focussed and relationship-driven business!

Work on your relationships and your business will grow along with them. Sounds good to me.
  • Relationships and people are some of the reasons why I'm in this industry. I have always felt that whenever I meet people and we have a common interest or same objective, it makes it so fun. For many years, I had a job and it was really boring. Everyone only talked about sports or video games. That's fine, but making a living by helping other people and meeting new people is really a lot of fun as well as rewarding to see them accomplish their goals. For once, I can actually help someone change their financial situation while I'm changing mine.

    I love Network Marketing!!
  • Denise Cox
did that work? just in case since i'm posting everyday - i will pick up the book and want to hear more about australia!
  • trainermarty
Thanks for reminding us and reinforcing once again, Eric and John, that our business is first and foremost about relationships.
  • rayrios
Thank you Eric for the relationship you allow me to have with you and with so many others tru this forum. Once read the book; Now I have an opportunity to meet him personally. We have to learn to like ourselves first, before we venture to like others.

  • marvalouslife1
Wow. i don't believe it. this person is a legend for me. the copy of his book is the first Networkmarketing book, i ever red. now, i have a librery fool of networkmarketing and self growth books, but i will always have a worm place in my heart for "The Greatest Networker in the World".
and, yes!!! it's all about relationships. all the talks about "cold market" and "Internet Marketing" and "Magnetic Sponsoring", without building relationships, are total Bull.....

    Ron Ackerman - Israel
  • I'm a newbie in the network marketing world. You are introducing me to amazing people, ideas and concepts.
  • ritafulton
Wow, yeah.."falling into like and falling into love with people"...and breathing life into life..

I have grasped the idea that focusing on helping others to become successful ..for them..comes back at you in greater portions!!

Looking forward to tomorrows part 2.
  • Marion
Thanks for a great interview - looking forward to the rest of the week.
    Relationships are the key.
I can't wait to read all the books.
  • Hai
Relationship, relationship, relationship- THAT'S the million dollar ingredient to success. Everyone is so different so to know, to relate and to do business with can be crazy & perplexed at times. I will read your book... Thank you.
  • gmeyerson
Relationships relationships relationships, like when he admitted he did not like people
  • garyparmenter
It's all about liking people. As he put it. The importance of relationships, on a scale of 1 thru 10, it is a 12! How interesting for him to find out he didn't like people. Looking forward to the rest of the interview. Thanks again, Eric
  • bethascoli
Relationships!!!! One of the most consistent messages from NM leaders. You really must like and invest in people in order to succeed in this business.

Looking forward to the rest of the interview!
  • "Falling into like and falling into love with people." The levels of vulnerability I will have to both ascend and descend to is what terrifies me. Two of my favorites in one interview! The Greatest Networker is an annual read for me. Truth be told I have not slipped into the book as either character, yet. I wondered who they were!
  • denisekay
Wow! like his thinking. Having a conversation with the reader will put them on the same level. The reader might not feel some emotions that get in the way. Like why didn't I think of the that or I thought about that and didn't think I should or could.

ps we are having a problem with the audio
  • mariasiro
I will use that one: you have to LIKE people to build good relationships!! Thank's again...
  • This is one of my favourite books and I've read it several times.

I'm in the shipping business. Love it!
  • andreas papakostas
    will get the book
  • wizba4444
    Relationships! Hmmmmm
  • ulla99
You are very generous John, I will read your book as soon as possible!
  • rasdaniels
very interesting interview; again we are hearing about relationships.
  • chriskemp817
I read John Milton Fogg's book several years ago. Relationships are everything I believe. No matter what you do in life it is based upon building a successful relationship.
  • If more people would open their eyes to the fact that this IS a relationship business, they truly would have more success. I hear too many times the "I don't have any friends w/ABC company, it's business." Maybe if they added that attitude with their drop out rate, they'd get it. On the other hand, they probably wouldn't. It's just who they are.
  • hpena
Two great points here. Storytelling allows for the other person to insert themselves into the story, thus learning from a better perspective. Relationships as a production mechanism, i.e. relationshipping, leadershipping etc. This is a paradigm shift from just pushing a product or service.

  • turjcxg
    Eric,

It occurred to me after watching this video one reason why I've had so much difficulty in my NM business. Among other reasons, I don't like people. In my 15 year corporate career, I was trained that in order to be rewarded I HAD to make my projects succeed regardless of the consequences to other people. We were not trained to work with people - we were trained to work "over" people. Listening to them was really not an option. I'm looking forward to seeing how John handled this to change and become a better person, I think I could use the help in this area (among other areas)!
  • shawncyr
I enjoyed this one. It's about the vision and sharing that vision with others. Once again, all about the relationships. People want to be liked, wanted, and be useful. People know, inherently, that they are capable of so much more, even when they achieve more, they know they can do more.
Let's go help them do that, become more.
  • nikomachi
Thanks Eric for introducing John to us. I will be reading the book as soon as possible.
  • Thanks (all) for your positive remarks. You can read/listen to the book here: http://JohnMiltonFogg.com. It's free (in ex' for your eMail addy) and your to keep & share. And yes, I do need to smile more <smile>. I'm still NOT comfortable staring at that little green light as if it was a real people.</smile>
  • beckydesabah
Looking forward to watch the complete interview on friday. . . .
    Thank you John,
    I apreciate you.
  • Wow! Thanks for a great gift. i appreciate that there is audio too. Than you!
  • Marion
Thank you - I am printing it now - can't wait to start reading it.
  • patrickmcfeely
Thank you again for the Greatest information on Network Marketing, more books to read.

Thank you for your time Eric
  • jerryscribner
John's book is a must read for anyone serious about our profession. I have an interesting question to pose for EVERYONE to comment on, including Eric. This question comes from Sherman Unkefer, how did you get involved in our profession? Did you answer an add, was it internet lead generated, or was it the good old fashioned method of someone you knew. like, and trust approached you. I will answer first. My first exposure to NWM was in 1983 and it was a newspaper add. I got out of the profession in 1990 and was approached by a dear friend in 2007, thank God he called me!! Jerry
  • denisekay
A friend of a friend and Broker approached me. The good old fashioned method. I want to prove they made a good decision.
  • hlj521
Love it! I am looking forward to hearing more tomorrow. I love the relationship aspect of our business and it helps to get reminded just how important those relationships are in life and business. Thanks Eric!
  • I like the part about Vision....most people never get the vision about MLM, because they quit to soon...They never learn the skills, that takes them far enough to get the vision.
Relation based business is still what takes you forward, even if we use social media.....
  • shawncyr
I lean more toward people getting the vision but that they turn it into wishful thinking. They can see it as a way to achieve their dreams and help others do the same, but like you said, they quit too soon to realize it.
For some reason, the work ethic just isn't there at times.
  • I think we get it...

Eric, I would like to see and hear more on the actual relationship building process. Techniques you and others use to build relationships. The reason I am saying this is many new people hear what you are saying but then they come across to pushy or hungry for a sale instead of just trying to be a friend or mentor. Just food for thought.
  • billrogers
FANTASTIC! Looking forward to another great interview. The main thing I love about networking is that it is a people business and it sounds as if Milton fogg is definitely going to fully address that. I was impressed wth his relationships description pertaining to our profession.
  • We've said it before and now we're saying it again Network Marketing is all about relationships. It's interesting that in times where theres so much focus on technology and automateing the business and many networkers in start up companies are attacking the old established companies for being old fashioned and out of date to much manual work and face to face work, all of the top earners you've interviewed with exception of Mike Dillard has said it over and over again RELATIONSHIPS, RELATIONSHIPS, RELATIONSHIPS!!!
  • Jeroen Lingier
I confess, I haven't read the book yet... but I will.
I think John MF talks about a great topic: One fundamental basis in MLM is the relationship business. learn to communicate.
I look forward to this week with mr. Milton Fogg.
    Warm Regards,
    Jeroen Lingier, from Belgium
  • How important is the relationship aspect of our business? 12 out of 10. Does it get any clearer?

  • Yes I agree completely with both of you...it is all about relationships..and how much we care enough about others to understand them and lead them and generally help them make the daily decisions that will bring them success-like watching this series of videos each and every morning 5 times a week! Gotta love those Hayman Islands-awesome beauty-which resort? I went sailing through the Whit Sunday Islands in the GReat Barrier Reef! Was always a dream to return and open up our business in Australia and NZ so I can return to those islands! So now I'm doing it! Please send pictures! It is cold and gray and the Vikings lost ..so we need a little cheering up here in Minneasota Eric!
  • tomlacey
Interesting concept for his book style. I'll have to put it on my reading list. The various "Ship" concept facets is very interesting and a recurring theme for success in this business.
  • carolbarrett
Thanks Eric and John. I have read The Greatest Networker several times and it is a gem in the business. I agree whole heartedly that the core of the this business is people and building relationships with people. Thanks Eric for bringing John to your show. I've admired him for a long time.
  • Don Harrington
    This is good!
  • Hey Don..just saw another Harrington here..Nice to connect with you! Where do you live? I am in Minnesota! ORiginally from Toronto.
  • anthonyviglietta
The core of this business! Is this available as an audio book?
  • Recommend it warmly. The only thing John Milton Fogg does better than writing and interviewing is reading.

    http://www.greatestnetworker.com/Store.asp
  • anthonyviglietta
    Thanks for the info Jack!
  • drmikempa
Classic book. I agree, why aren;t more people getting it?
  • claralondono
That 12%influence really seeemed to be like a 90% afer John explained all the "ships" involved..will keep listening
    Thank you
  • eddyoshaughnessy
I have not read the book yet , but I must .
I think the personal development and the relationship building are connected
  • ybimbalanced
I love his book, and am looking forward to the rest of the interview. Can relate to not liking people in the beginning, interesting how this business appeals to even peoplelike us! Thanks again
  • liora
Building relationships and partnerships is a key in MLM
  • Katie N
Good Stuff Eric. So sorry about your Vikings last night..
  • lauralopez
One fundamental basis in MLM is the relationship business, relationship family, relationship team, relationship community, etc...It is great when you choose the people who you work with, and its amazing when the people choose you because they want to be part of your team. You can build a big organization
when you have a good relationship and good comunication. Thanks for this show. I really like to hear it.

  • Hey Eric. Here's my commitment to me and to you: I'll consistently become and do the things required for me to reach my goal of earning more than $12 million per year and at least a third of that through network marketing as a part from my mission and vision in life. I have 855 days to go and i'm enjoying the ride. Now i'm 23 almost 24 in 10th of march and i will be the first millionaire in mlm in my home country Romania until the age of 26. After that you can interview me on the Million Dollar Interviews Series and you'll know that i stated this here and now.
I appreciate you and all people that are honest in their desire to grow and live their dreams.
    Alex Tita
    Here as promised.
  • It took him a whole 30 seconds but I am glad that he finally smiled! Great interview I am looking forward to the rest of it! Enjoy your trip.
  • bryantkeefe
I struggle with the "I don't like people issue also" but this says volumes about me and not people. I look forward to this week with you.
  • Read Johns book 10 years ago, and it is on our recommended reading list for our team. It was and is one of the reasons we have stayed. The vision, the what if... I have had to learn to build relationships, and become more than I was, and books like the Greatest Networker and your videos keep me focused. Thanks guys.
  • Jillian
Wow - he has certainly caught my attention. Have not read the book yet, but certainly will be in the future. The ever=riding theme is the belly-to-belly relationship you create in order to be successful. Thanks again for bringing all these amazing people in the industry into our lives that normally would not be accessible
  • Cee_G
Hi Eric...another good perspective. I am going to get his book from the library and read it. Looking forward to part 2. Thank you!
  • Being an enlightened sponsor, building relationships and partnerships. I look forward to the remainder of this interview. Outstanding information. Thanks Eric.
  • yuvalcohen
    Hey Eric
Thanks for the interview fascinating and interesting.
I accept, what was said. And our business is built on relationships. And get used to them more. So our work and improve them.
    Waiting for further interview

Greatest Networking in the World, One of my all time favorites. Images of the possibilities.
  • annenz
The two words "relationship business" has come up again as the most important part of the business. Thanks
  • talya_mitzafon
DEAR ERIC, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE OPPORTUNITY YOU JUST GAVE ME: TO HOST THE GREATEST NETWORKER IN MY HOME.....
I LOVE HIS BOOK. THIS BOOK MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH NETWORK MARKETING AND SO THIS INTERVIEW. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THE UNCUT INTERVIEW.
  • Over and over again is building relationships the fundamental of our business. Looking forward to the rest of the interview. Thanks Mr. Worre for all the work you do for the people in our profession. Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • It's nice to hear some of the background behind the making of a classic.
  • soxfan071
I think about how many people have said to me, "I'm not a people person". How do you survive in this world at all if you are not a people person? My favorite thing about Networkmarketing is meeting new people and building relationships.
  • peterburrows
well that's this weeks reading soerted out....!
  • Ah...! This is such a looong wait. I LOVE IT!
Can't wait to watch the complete uncut video.
  • Another great insight to the business
  • jacob stiner Israel
Hey Eric just wonderful to hear and see a wonderful writer as John Milton Fogg and his perspective on network marketing we in Israel ride his books and learn from them thanks
  • wouterdeprez
Intruiging person, that john milton fogg.. Very curious what the next shows will bring!
  • MagnusEdvald
Speaking and listening, yes it is about that is it not. One tends to make it too complicated sometimes.
  • seija
    It's all about relationships
  • peterragg
    Great start Eric
I have to admit I have not read John's book, I need to seek it out. Again we have the keyword, RELATIONSHIP. This business is not rocket science.
I look forward to the rest of the interview
    regards
    Peter
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
I did not read the book, but this is an interesting interview.
you are right, it is all about personal relationships (but also about bravery, being proud on the business)
  • Mailen
An interesting person ,John Milton Fogg. I do like people and ....
And caring for other and make them feel good, is my thing.
  • Erik
I`ve read the book several times. I have also listened to the mp3 file several times. Also liked the follow up book , conversations with the greatest networker. I totally agree with you, you can do a lot with tecnology, but a webinar will never replace a live meeting or other personal realations. You can never build the same trust if you hide behind a computer. John is a legend and a hero :)
  • Ria Leermakers
I realy like the book, read it several times.
The biggest grow I made in MLM-er until now, is in the part of the relations.
The difficulty for me, is the change from relation to business.
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
    Hi Ria, you were early...!
the treshold is bravery, i think we must be more couragious
de drempel is onze lef, denk ik, daarin moeten we boven onszelf uitstijgen.
    groetjes
