  • Yikes - somehow missed commenting on this one - almost lost my 100 show medal!
  • mikeyfromvegas
I need the wind to blow at my back so I can catch up to date. I will be with my leaders as you to travel the world thank you Eric
    Mikey
  • susanjohannesson
The wind will not effect my efforts, my sales are already set!
  • BobbyRay
Sounds like the ups and down will happen in this profession. Don't let it get you down.
  • jlt0wn
visualization always works better for me. thanks.
  • Damijan81
Couldn't agree more eric, the circumstance that we control is ourselves and we need to make things happen! I seem to come upon this theme a lot these days. I think i am finally getting it...
  • Robbin
Don't wait for the wind to change. Do the most with what you've got
  • luigijr
how much different can the world be if everyone took responsibility or charge or their every action
  • It is easy to make excuses and float when one thinks success is "out there". Thanks for the visual of the wind and the sail.
  • Lotta
    Thank you
  • mspaulamc
great visualization Eric ... one of my favorite all time tapes was RICH DEVOS' The Four Winds (I think that was the name of it) ... good stuff .. set your sail for success ;)
  • crwood1967
We all want to make this so complicated, yet you have a way to break it all down to the core nuts and bolts of what we need to do. I am so sad I was unable to attend your SF training.
  • That is so true.
We all are responsible for our business and what we are going to do with opportunity we've got.
  • AdvocareJax
That was short and to the point. We always need to be the captain of our ship.
  • This is truly something to remember every day !
  • Vonnita2010
THAT IS SO TRUE.. DOESN'T MATTER WHERE THE WIND BLOWS... YOU NEED TO LEARN HOW TO USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE AND TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR OWN SAIL!! VERY TRUE...
  • Bea Resnick
I knew someone who had a sailboat and didn’t know how to set the sail. Until someone taught him, he could only go where the wind took him. It’s true for us in Network Marketing as well. We require knowing how to set the sail before we can go in the direction we desire.
  • classy70sgirl
    How true it is!
We must all take charge of our lives and move forward.
    Thanks Eric.
    Classy70sgirl
  • CarlosVera
Great reminder. Don't fight the wind or wait for it to blow your way, just take advantage of it no matter where it comes from!
  • John Spardella
The late great Jim Rohn use to say the same wind that blows others into the rocks and to the beach, sand bars, etc. can blow you to prosperity, success, riches, etc.
  • Steve Weaver
This knowledge is the benefit of NMPRO and being in the Network Marketing industry.
I wouldn't be getting these life nuggets anywhere else.
  • pech
    Thank you for the reminder.
  • Jeroen Lingier
QOTD: That's right sailor! It IS the set of the sails that determines the outcome!
    Greetings by Jeroen Lingier
  • CINDYSU
Puts technology in proper perspective. Got it!
  • CINDYSU
I am taking charge and setting my own sail!!!!!! Because the wind is really whipping up right now!!!!!
  • Yup...it is always what the person does with the wind that each of us gets in life...great metaphor...and what a grand adventure we are all on! Gotta love that Sydney Harbour!
  • FedericoGrowthsperity
This is one of the lessons that made the greatest difference when I first heard it from Mr. Jim Rohn, but it is awesome to hear it again, and again, and again!!! repetition!!

I have to admit, this is the first time I heard it from a person actually ON a sailboat! So it is still a premiere!

    Thanks for sharing!!

    Federico
  • AviPeer
the same wind blows on us all it the set of the sail that make the different
  • Success is really inside you and no one can create it except you. Lesson for network marketing pros - we don't create leaders, we find them!
  • ronaldvandomburg
in fact the wind is not blowing, but the place where there's no wind is pulling the wind to go there...
  • This is a good analogy to use sailing with the wind, to using what you have got to succeed. Success is the progressive realisation of a worthwhile goal, provided it is written down correctly in the present tense as if it has already happened. So yes success does comes from within.
  • conniegleave
    Adapting to change...

We just sold our home in less than 4 days on the market! "Change" is my middle name right now so I've set my sail to maximize the gust of wind. The hard part is over - my house is sold. The easier part will be finding a new home.

Analogy: Talking to prospects is the hard part. I find the easy part is being there for them when they decide to take the journey.
  • Lotta
Soo True. thanks for the reminder. It just listen to Jim Rohns cd about building your business this weekend. I'm setting my sails for success this year. Thanks again for all your inspirations and tools for success. Take care, Lotta Sweden
  • jerryscribner
    Fantastic info
  • David Wright
I'm not sure if he was the originator of the metaphor, but this was a very important lesson I got from listening to Jim Rohn. Thanks for the visual :-)
  • Gustavo Muñoz - Colombia
everything that happens to you is always a matter or understanding that you are the one in charge...nobody else
  • Donna Wheaton
    Hello

Work with the wind that blows on you. I am in control!
  • John Boyd
    I am Sailing........
  • happyhealthybob
Great man in Jim Rohn!!! Great View
  • garyparmenter
No matter the conditions, keep moviing forward.
  • Wasn't Zig Ziglar who first coined the "set of the sail" mantra?
  • I am the captain of my ship. I determine the direction of my vessel. I use the power of the wind to get me to my destination. It doesn't matter which way the wind is coming from. I set my own sail to harness the power of the wind.

I can use the wind as an excuse to be stuck and not go anywhere, or I can use it to power my ship to take me anywhere I want to go.
  • hanneretvik
I was sailing a lot in Norway as a child, so I know what you mean and agree that these rules apply to NWM as well!
  • gingerva
Thanks Eric, love the scenery. It's great going on adventures with you. The message never changes; "if it is to be, it's up to me."
  • Shovers
The set of the sail. Interesting! Food for thought.
  • peterragg
"If it is to be it is up to me".

You are the architect of your destiny, "just do it", (now).

    Regards
    Peter Ragg
  • jean_albert
    Great advice, thanks,
  • Marion Bernard
love the wind to take my sail
  • Mark_AbrahamsUK
2nd post. I'm getting in touch with the success which is inside me....taking charge...thinking better as I plan the circumstances I will set my sail towards. Thanks again Eric.
  • DianaValdez
It's true, if I always wait for the wind to change I would never have my life in my hands plus I might be loosing a lot of oportunities. Take charge!
  • gkamlm
So true, the key is how you trim the sales. That's our training, effort, persistence, etc.
  • travelprohawaii
YES! I am not part of the circumstances I set my own sail and everything is a learning experience
  • Nelleke Scholten
I believe it is true that from where the wind blows it is you to take charge of your devellopment, the growth of your business and so on. Don't say because of changes of circumstances my business is slow or does not work out the way I like it.
  • Stephen
Sailing provides some great analogies. Sometimes it takes the right reference to get a message to click. Thanks Eric, Minnesota has some great inland sailors.
  • chriskemp817
Eric, the wind is going to blow on everybody. It's just the ones who set the sails accordingly who shine through.
  • Nice short video, Eric.

I too am a great fan of Jim Rohn. "It is not the blowing of the wind that sets us apart it is setting of the sail"
  • onemartymac
Awesome. You must take charge and believe in yourself.

    Thank You
  • Susan Peluso
This is so true ,that's why a lot of people give up and don't succeed. I am going to TAKE CHARGE! I wish I was on the boat with you also. I will be in 3 to 5 years.
    .
  • seija
Take charge of your own sail
  • tommycone
    #232
Your show is a big help. I know if the work is to get done it is up to ME. Thanks
  • Edith Kohler
    Yes,well said Eric
  • So very true. It is up to us.
  • Lorraine
it is so easy to blame everthing else for our lack of success but it really is up to us to take charge and control of destiny.
  • nikomachi
You are so right on this one. Its so easy to get lazy and play victim.
  • randyhendrickson
I am taking charge. I may not be doing the best job at that. Watching your videos each day I know I will do a better job.
  • donham298
The wind is the engine and we are the drivers of our own ship.
  • Inger
This segment makes me think of a great quote: "When obstacles arise, you change your direction to reach your goal; you do not change your decision to get there." ~Zig Ziglar
  • Agneta Rebo
Yes, it´s really up to you to decide where to go, not the wind!
  • VERY GOOD POINT!! I really like that.....way of thinking....
  • JudasPierce
this is a great Jim Rohn Classic teaching.
  • rhhooker
Its Not the blowing of the wind..but the set of the sail! The same wind blows on us all!

(Im sure that sounds familiar- Jim Rohn)
  • lynn hall
Take charge and keep your goals, also move out of your comfort zone as success is inside us.
  • Pepeneto
And If you know exactly where you go (having a goal) you will know how to take advantage of the wind no matter where it blows...
  • jeanalbert
You are so right on this one Eric. It's time to set sail and take charge. If it's going to be, it's up to me.
  • I had bit of a tough week with my business and it bummed me out a bit. But I realised that I need to keep taking charge and moving forward. I'm doing what most won't, and soon I'll have what most don't.
  • Pepeneto
I had a bad time too...but been here in this "place" that's what I love MLM...none of us are alone...and we have the opportunity of share and learn and take new energy and take charge again....don't give up Dan...I say hello from Mexico...
  • karivankleef
Success is inside each person you just have to believe in yourself. Sometimes easier to say than do. I am taking charge. Thanks
  • kamalharris
If everyone in took charge of their own business, the organizations would be flourishing. This was a very short, impactful message.
  • Thanks for the great message, Eric!
  • Thanks for the great message Eric!
  • amberaimshigh
You were talking to me today! I am taking charge!
  • Love seeing you all over the world! Great stuff!
  • bartar20
Thanks for the words of wisdom!!
  • Great visual! Really makes you think :)
  • I must say that "taking charge" of the business and adapting something out of my comfort zone has renewed an excitement in the team that I believe will change the future for all of us. Looking forward to learning more details of the "World Class Event Promoter" class tonight!
  • rayrios
Will do. Appreciate the reminder..It is up to us to use the wind in our favor..Thanks Eric....Hey, you are having toooo much fum.
  • rayrios
You are having tooooo much fun...Will do, take charge..Thanks Eric.
  • I totally agree that success in INSIDE us. It took me many years to realize this but, hey - better late than never, right?
  • veronikakari
Yes, taking charge of your own life and just start working on it.
  • wconsult
We do need to actually take charge of our own lives. When we do that we will have a better conviction to help out others.
  • emmettb
classic Jim Rohn. This was great doing it from a sail boat! Keep up the "hard" work there Eric!
  • pollyhulseman
Looks like you are having a blast - We all need to take charge and set our own sails.
  • Luis Gringras
Yes, I good to remember every time, that only I am in charge of the results, not some else
  • ngocttk
I love your saying: "Take charge of your own sail." It's so meaningful!
  • bethascoli
Great visual example of a classic lesson!
  • hpena
Love the message. Love the shades even more.

    Nando
  • keithmurfet
It's not what happens in life but what we do with it. The set of the sail determines our destination.
  • Jessi
It's not how the wind blows but how you set the sails! So true!
  • Foord Yates
Stop waiting for the wind to change.... propel yourself forward.
Take charge. Be bold. Be brave. Be yourself.

    Foord Yates
  • karenandian
Take charge, set your sail to capture the wind no matter what direction it blows!
  • If the wind is not in our back we just need to run faster and change the wind :)
  • goingpro
got it. Take matters into your own hands.
  • It's not the wind that blows on us all , it's the set of our sail!! Jim Rohn, I love you!!
  • Irina
I love Jim Rohn! I can listen to him over, and over, and over again.
  • marvalouslife1
"It's not hte wind, but the set of the sails". what a great insite, by Jim Rohn.
Thanks, Eric, for reminding this to us!

    Ron Ackerman - Israel
  • Jilliangene
You brought to mind the great Jim Rohn, loved it. Continue enjoying your trip. You look marvelous!!

  • cherisizzles
SO. I know this is completely not what you were looking for ..... but less than a minute into this video, it suddenly hit me: I really love how you are 100% totally confident recording these videos in the presence of .... WHOEVER!! Total and utter confidence. It's inspiring and encouraging. I LOVE our time together! :)
  • rosslopez
This time I wont let the time goes by and decides for me, now I know what I want and where I want to be in the next years =o) take the control of our lives and dreams is not an easy task but if we are focused
we will reach the top, we will get a better future, we will feel so alive.

    Hugs from Mexico
    Rossana :P
  • A takeaway from this is to never lose sight of the ultimate goal. If you have to make adjustments, then make adjustments!
  • dterrell
You simply have to make a decision to be successful then take action. Stop looking for outside conditions to be ideal to proceed with your goals.
  • darnell
Excellent tie in with your previous video on overcoming the 'wind' at any direction and making it work to your advantage!! Looking 4ward to the next video...continue to enjoy your time in Sydney!!
  • Robertdiggsjr
    Lifestyle!
  • Ellis3
Jim Rohn fans: It's not the direction of the wind that determines where you go, but the "set of the sail"! Thanks Eric!
  • net22
some individuals are always waiting for this or that to happen before they begin whatever it is they need to do. Do it now -- do not wait, success is not going to fall into your lap.
  • beckydesabah
Most of the great things in life are simple, not easy just simple. Quite simple as that I have to look inside me, believe in me, get into action and keep on going . . failure is not an option!
I see others also mentioned, so I agree and repeat: If it is to be, it is up to me.
  • quincy
We are always in control, the ball is always in our court it just up to us in what we do with it. How we set out sail. Thanks this is motivating in overcoming any type of adversity.
  • socorro
    Excellent take charge, thanks Eric
  • martinvf
    Thats absolutley true.
I need to take action in my life, I need to take the risk, I need to take advantage of the wave to move wherever I want.
If I don't move myself, the world will move me in strange ways I may don't like and I may regret.

    Saludos from Aguascalientes, Mexico.
  • The set of your sail. I love that the first time I heard Jim Rohn use it and it still is right on the money. Sometimes I let the sail down and than I wonder why things grow stagnant. I need to learn to keep the sail up so I can move ahead at all times. It's all about me and my desire or my lack of desire.
  • Jay VanNostrand
absolutely Eric...you have to 'build your philosophy'...figure out where it is you want to go...and the wind is no longer scary, it's exciting!
  • georgeman
No excuses, I will just keep on doing what I must. What an awesome set of videos, wow, thank you.
  • Quit complaining and set your sails for the course ahead. If the wind (or challenge) changes direction tac with the wind to keep moving forward.
  • bartonmurray
have fun while you can, when you can, anyway you can...thanks Eric!
  • Mark Dickson
Take control of you sails. Sail into the wind or sail with the wind. Both ways you are in contral of you life.
  • Cee_G
Life is an "inside" job...including success - I so agree. The old saying rings true..."If it is to be, it is up to me." Enjoy Australia!
  • Yes, I look inside and take control of my destiny by setting my vision (attention) stating my intention, and releasing to the Universe the how. Not knowing all the steps along the way is not important. Taking that first step is. I control my destiny.
  • andreas papakostas
    sail away........
  • SJ Doug
    Lets sail!
  • Yes, it's all up to our own belief and action! We do have control over our own future!
  • Dee_Canada
There have been times of late where the j.o.b. has knocked the wind out of my sails, and it fuels me and makes me more determined to build my NWM business. When the wind seems to escapse me, that little voice says, "get a damned paddle Dee and and get to work!". So....here I go!!!!!!!!!
  • jennyc
The success is inside of us, Love that!!
  • fc34615
Just got an amazing book recommended by one your previous guests on the show - Aspire by Kevin Hall. Another great source of personal development.
Thanks for another good message, Eric.
    Fernando
  • All I can say is one day soon, I'll be like you traveling the world - you're an excellent example of the lifestyle that can be lived if we're willing to put in the work
  • The truth is that if you accept a challenge the Universe itself will create the propper environment.
God has thousands of ways to help you succeed IF YOU ARE READY.
  • That reminds me, haven't listened to Jim's CD for a while. Thanks for the reminder Eric.

PS: Why don't you spin that wheel and see how many you can dump into Sydney harbour :)
    Happy sailing.
  • I am not familiar with the Jim Rohn quote, but I do know how to sail and a beam reach is pretty darn good for a good sail, but yeah, you can adjust to other points of sail and still move forward. But when it is straight in front of you, you will stall for a bit, also called being in irons, but once you drift off the eye of the wind you can catch it again and be on your way, kind of like in any business!
  • wlee
That may be the one common thread that holds everyone back. Why so many quit, get discouraged, and blame it on others, the system, the COMPANY. After spending almost two years studying, listening to, reading and learning from (hopefully!) hundreds of professionals and masters - it seems the one thing they all have in common was making the decision to take charge and belief that they would do it. Despite different styles, voices, genders, ages, backgrounds - this was the one thing they all had, and have. That's the decision I made two days ago!
  • brianhepner
And Network Marketing is the fastest boat for average people.
  • Connie Tolton
    Thanks for the push.

    Connie T
  • racingworm
Set of the sail. Ahh, a Jim Rohn classic saying. Short, sweet and to the point.
  • highimpact0406
Short but sweet, even with only a minute and thirty five seconds, your message was still precise! Thanks...
  • tambry
I think success is obtained by remaining positive at all times and not letting negativity creep its way in.
  • tyroneholmes
Its not the winds of adversity, but the set of the sail that determines my destination.
  • Gakungu
There is an old saying that change is as good as a rest.
  • margarethockaday
adapting and taking charge of your future. enough said
  • I think that working with a partner makes things a lot easier.
  • We need to make the most out of what we have every day. While waiting for things to change, opportunities may pass us by.
  • mbryant
Excellent and very concise message!! thanks, Eric for having a vision to share...
  • lauralopez
Hi Eric Congrats I knew you had a great time in Sideny.
And I think we have to change and we have to be open every day to improve ourselves
  • rasdaniels
Love this teaching! Yes, success is inside of me
  • susanclark
#232 - Adapting to Change - I like this analogy. Who does the most with the wind - wins. Regardless of the wind we have the ability to control our moving forward.
  • Yep the same wind blows on us all, it's the set of the sail that makes the difference, as Jim Rohn always said.

    Looks like fun there Eric.
  • shawncyr
Loved it. Am reading The Richest Man in Babylon and have finished the chapter on Oppurtunity and Luck. Essentially the luck comes to everyone all of the time it's a matter of taking the opportunity. If you procrastinate, you miss out.
Well, in this industry, the opportunity is here, and we were lucky enough to take it. But, if we procrastinate, nothing happens and our opportunity fades away...
So, how do we invite luck to stand by our side?
  • barryburgin77
I am thinking that I can have the wind at my back but what if I don't like the direction the wind is taking me! I have to steer away from the winds' push which makes it more difficult to get where I want to go but I can't wait for favorable winds. I decide the proper course and set sail accordingly. "watch your head...comin' about".
  • Agents of Change take charge.
  • orlyalbo
Thank you reamind me how is taking charge.
  • So easy to blame everybody and everything around you for the way your life turns out. Instead YOU take charge, be the Captain of your "lifeship" and set your sails for success!
  • You're as ready as you will ever be. Get out there and go!
  • Jose Lopez
Great reminder!! Now I have an image to go with the concept!!
  • Bryan_in_KC
Short and sweet and full of truth.
  • Tarashon Broomes
great message....yes we do have control of our ability and we can make the best of any situation in we are in
  • Thanks for the short but powerful message and follow up on the setting of the sail message. Its still up to us to get it done or not get it done. Set the mind, set the actions, and set up for success.
  • maariee
    Great advise! Thank you Eric.
  • gloriavintila
Yes, it's about time to take charge of the stearing wheel. And that can only be done by my own actions. I decide where I want to go. And through focus and committment, I will get there. Thank you, Mr. Worre! And have a fantastic time in Australia!
  • jlconner
Tremendous message today. We can't blame anyone for our failures but ourselves. On the other hand our successes are also dependent on us. Thanks Eric.
  • nikigombis
How true! I must become the captain of my sea!
  • BetterCoffee.dk
That's how I try to think every time it seems hard to pick up the phone or approach that next prospect.

If not this - Then what?
If not now - Then when?
If not you - Then who?
  • Damijan81
We are in control of our own life, nothing feels better then knowing that you have that ability to effect change in your own life.
  • janetrajala
I love the image--will have to keep that visual in my mind at all times.
  • feltricks
The wind will blow on us all. The difference is the set of the sail.
What's important is to know exactly where you want to get, so regardless of the wind that blows, you will set your sail to take where you want to get.
That's a hell of skill to learn. It's what Mr. Rohn called building your philosophy.
    Great lesson showed live.
    Thanks.
  • Nancy
We all have wind, it is who does the most with it who succeeds.
  • It's always nice to see other people having fun. Thanks for the reminder.
  • A Powerful image to reinforce the concept of being you own boss even when things are not going as planned.

    Thanks Eric!
  • MarvinTowler
Short, sweet and to the point! There is no "out there" and there are "no others." I also have to say to that the title is timely for me. Thanks again Eric!
  • talya_mitzafon
    HELLO CAPTAIN ERIC,
THIS BRILLIANT SHORT LESSON FROM THE BOAT REMINDS ME THE FOLLOWING QUOTE FROM "THINK AND GROW RICH" BY NAPOLEON HILL:
"When HENLEY wrote the prophetic lines: "I am the Master of my Fate, I am the Captain of my Soul"
he should have informed us that we are the Masters of our Fate, the Captains of our Souls, because we have the power to control our thoughts"
  • This video brought back a flashback of something that Jim Rohn once said about being multi-skilled in a changing economy. He said that we cannot blame the economy because it doesn't affect everyone's bank account. It's the multiple skills that one has in any situation to be able to adapt to change. And I am proud to be part of a great industry and on the forum with great people all on a mission of personal growth, change, and prosperity. We are all adapting to change in our lives. Now we must learn how to adapt to change in our businesses.

I wish everyone much happiness, good health, and prosperity.

    David Walker
  • Great video! There are going to be times when the the wind is going blow you off course, and you have to reset you sail. That why it important to set goals and be laser focused on your "WHY".
  • Lisette
Yes, its up to me, how my future will turn out.
  • What a great example to put forth. Right on.
Each of us as a Network Marketing Professional, needs to chart our own course through the waves every day by making mid course adjustments, adjusting the power of “our sail" and using our game plan and tactics to navigate the wind. With this set of disciplines in place and then learning how to deploy them against any given set of circumstances we can move our Network Marketing boat forward.
  • Eileen
Very inspirational. Great analagy!!! Enjoy the fruits of your labor!!!!!
  • Learn to be the change and set the sail..
  • krisic
Take charge, I AM in charge! I have to do this, no one else is gonna do it for me.
  • Don't wait for the wind to change directions....great words of advice. I tend to use excuses to help me justify not doing something, now there are really no excuses, I just need to do something and get moving in any direction ! ! !
  • This is such great advice and such a struggle for so many...thanks for pointing it out!
  • No matter what direction the wind blows... the bottom line... You can still go "forward"! thanks Eric
  • PaulineP
Messages aka Jim Rohn and what a wonderful way to demonstate it. Reach out and harness the pwoer of your mind, your will power, your inner beliefs, your "why" and TAKE ACTION!!!!!! If you allow yourself to think free, can do, to think about all is possible, what you think about is what you bring about......actions will be guided by your thoughts.
  • latachia_2
Don't wait for the wind to change directions. Just set your sails & go! It doesn't matter which way the winds are blowing, just like if you are driving a car & the wind is blowing, you keep on going.Even though it's a little bit harder,it does'nt matter, just keep on going& moving forward. That was a great message in a very short amount of time. You are so brilliant Eric! Syndey looks like such a beautiful place to be.
  • rmonte
Thanks Eric. Our destinations do depend on us. It's not what happens to you, its how you handle it!

    Rick M
  • Vern Trabue
    Wow! What a great life!
  • Thank you very much that is just what I needed to here
  • TAbrams
Looks like you are enjoying yourself :) Sydney harbor is a great place!!

Great message and what a great way to deliver it.

For things to change we must change. We all need to understand that we ultimately control what happens with our business in this profession and we need to be held accountable and take responsibility.

If the "wind blows" strong on our backside = momentum, then we run / "sail" faster and get to where we want to go quicker. When the "wind" dies down, we should never stop "sailing" we just need to keep at it, constant, consistent activity and we might sail slower for a while.

However, with our activity we know the momentum / wind on our backside will blow strong again and we will once again pick up the pace...

Just plot your course, set sail and stay strong behind the wheel
  • How fitting! Making moves on my Major Blast! Getting some pretty darn good results. Thank you for your leadership.
  • HoracioMejia
The way the circumstances are showing are just excuses we use to justify our lack of decision an courage to move forward. Our success and direction depends only on ourselves and what we do right here and right now.

To be in charge, to be in control is the fastest way to reach success
  • drkay
It is easier said than done... Take Charge... You are the one who determines your own course.... But by continuing to listen and learn and be teachable, I can learn. Thanks.

In Life, we all have to take action on our own, we can not wait to thing happens for themself.
  • Arnold Thompson
I totally agree. Too many times people blame the surroundings for not having any success. It's time for all of us to take charge of our own sails and make it happen no matter what!!
  • Ton Oosterwijk
it is the setting of the sails that will determine your outcome

Eric, Thanks for sharing the sailing. The fresh air and winds are awesome. The last regatta I attended was the 1983 America's Cup regatta in waters off Newport, RI when Australia II defeated Liberty. Are you attending the 2010 America's Cup in Velencia, Spain this month?

Yes....we each control the our final destiny as we maneuver through the winds in our lives to navigate to our chosen accomplishments. Thank you!
  • Success is personal. The ingredients are inside each of us.
We each define it and know when we achieve it.
Paying attention to the wind does allow the selection of tactic.
"That some achieve great success, is proof that others can achieve it as well" A. Lincoln
  • Everyone has tasted success. Waiting for the wind to change suggests that experience is limiting what is possible. Og Mandino wrote in Scroll I “experience is comparable to fashion; an action that proved successful today will be unworkable and impractical tomorrow.” Sometimes the most successful, especially early success, leaves you stuck wondering… “Who moved the cheese!”
  • gmeyerson
Great advise, little jealous of your life style, but shows me I have to keep doing what I'm doing, taking charge and never give up

    Jeez Eric,

Your lifestyle is so awesome. We all have a life to live, but style, just makes it so much better.

Taking opportunities even when having the wind in your sails taken away, is a must to be successful.

Nice reminder of your sailing metaphor. A wise man I knew once said, "The greatest fear that people have is taking charge of the quality of their own lives." I think network marketers are braver than the average person. They want to take charge. I know I certainly do.
  • quintaser
I think everyone has thought that the outside events marks our destiny, and as Eric says, we have the control of every situtation, but I think, at least in my case, we are waiting the things to change, instead of change our selves to change our destiny. Is a great simil the thing fo the sail in this post.

  • Love this Eric. Thanks for sharing some of your life experiences with us. I love seeing the places you travel too and the things you experience. It is very motivating for me.
I have to agree 1000% that everyone needs to take charge and control of their own life and move forward towards success despite the direction that the wind is blowing at you.
    Thanks again.
    Make it a great day!

In Jim Rohns voice "some people are headed to the rocks!" great lessons for life in general. Can't wait for the webinar tomorrow!!
  • gabisahar
    Dear Eric,
I got it, like JR said, it's not the wind that determine your future, it's the set of the sails.
Let's set a better sail, this year and let the wind blow our back and take us up to the top!
Thank you for your daily program.
    Gabi
  • timandtricia
This was a particularly good post for two sailors that spent the past 15 years world cruising. Thanks for the memories! We are all where we are because of our vision and the set of our sails. If you don't like where you're headed....alter your course.
  • m_cortez74
Onces again .... And into the sail we go....
  • aileens
Eric is showing us so many of the good things in life while passing on these gems. He really does walk the walk.
  • We've heard this one many times, in many books. It's one of the truths, and the truth does not change.
  • I totally agree! This is great wisdom and Truth!
    Make it a great day!

Using the wind to my advantage by the setting of the sail, instead of being tossed around by it.Thanks
  • take charge of my own sail. I like it. Thanks.
  • I first heard this lesson from the late great Jim Rohn, his great wisdom is threaded all around many successful people and it's always a great reminder. good stuff!
  • lopazelasane
I agree with you 100%...I have heard it sooooo many times in books...
  • I agree because its true. Last year I listened to Jim Rohn's Cd at least a hundred times, and now I've internalized that 'the same winds blow on us all' and its "the set of my sail" like this lesson states, not the direction of the wind that determines where I end up at the end of this year or subsequent years.
  • agelfederico
All the barriers or objections are really inside of us, its just how we want to see the outside

More reinforcement! Realizing the simplicity. The WILL bust be there. We all need to adapt and be willing to adjust.

    Hi Eric

    Thanks I agree.

You are the Captain of your own ship and it only depends on you were you want
to go with your ship and if you do not set your own sails no one will do it for you, and if
you allow them to do so then you must not complain were they take you and it will not
were you want to be. :-)
  • dstfa96
Too many people wait for things to change in order for them to become successful. Regardless of what the circumstances are we are the ones who have control of whether we become successful or not. Its up to us to take control of our lives and we will eventually achieve the success we are looking for.
  • ulla99
Great message! You never know when it will happen.
  • I absolutely agree! Success isn't something that 'happens' to you, it's something that you go make happen! Too many people waiting until 'things' get better before they take action. It doesn't get better until you make it better.
  • coltsco
I agree that everything we need for success is within each of us. Those that are waiting for outside things to change to make them successful will still be waiting next year and the next.....
  • Take a deep breath and let the wind blow to your prospects.
Let them know you're there. Work them...Work them...work them...

  • kristibateman
    Thanks Eric.

Yes, we need to take sail on a direction and not just let the wind aimlessly blow us in every direction. Take charge with your course and leverage the wind to move you toward your goals!
  • Ria Leermakers
I like Jim Rohn's thoughts, specially this one.
Every sailor knows, your the one that makes the boat go in a certain direction, not the wind.
  • My thoughts are I agree. Ya know it’s funny; this topic was on my mind this morning while I was doing a morning walk/jog listening to a Tony Robbins audio. Great episode on the subject.
  • turjcxg
Eric, thank you for the work you do on NMPRO! This show is yet another message I need to keep repeating to myself every day!

But the beauty of this message is that, when we get it, it sets us free.
  • patrickmcfeely
Plan it,then take Action what ever way the wind blows.
Thank you for your time Eric

Don't wait for the wind to change. It may be blowing the best direction right now!

  • drpricedc
Excellent point. It is the person, not the environment that determines your success.
  • Hans
    Anyway the wind blows....
  • Steve_Nelson
It's basically like I'm in a rut. I want to get into action and do the things I need to be doing to succeed, but I constantly find myself thinking the same thing (about how I need to get into action), but I don't commit. I'm reading books like Dale Carnegie how to win friends, Think and Grow Rich, and lots more that will help me change my thinking, which I feel is the right thing to be doing, but it's not enough obviously to get any results and earn money. Thanks for letting me vent. If anybody has felt like this before and got through it, any words of wisdom can only help. Thanks everyone
  • genegrass
Hi Steve. I have felt that way in the past, and I still have my moments of frustration to move forward. Think of one little step to take to move forward. One motivating quote I keep for this occasion is, "You don't have to get is right. You just have to get it going."

Whenever you find yourself paralyzed in a perfectionist moment, remind yourself why “Sloppy success is better than perfect mediocrity."

And a declarative quote I once heard from Tony Robbins: ”If I can’t, I must.”

    Steve, You....can do it!
  • Steve_Nelson
Thank you so much for your response! I have written it down on paper to look at often. That's just what I needed to hear. I wish you well and hope you have a great day! By the way, where are you from?
  • Eric.... that was a blast! You are the wind beneath my wings!
Puns intended... OH I crack myself up sometimes! On a serious note, YES this is correct it is your perception of the situation that makes you successful.
  • caronwashington
In the words of Jim Rohn Eric.....great stuff. The wind certainly blows on us all but it's how we handle it that makes the most difference. We all go through trials and tribulations but its the person who uses that experience and pushes forth will win. Take control of your situation and make it work for you
  • kgoren
One of my very favorite Jim Rohn philosophies...."It's not the blowing of wind, but the set of the sail." Wishing you were better and taking control of setting your own sail. What better way to pass that message on than delivering the message from a sailboat in Sydney Harbor. Thanks, Eric.
  • keithraines
Control what you can control ( the sail) and let those things outside of your control (the wind) pass you by without effect.
  • Mark_AbrahamsUK
I just love how Eric demonstrates the philosophies which, as NWM profesionals, we will 'be', 'do' and 'live by'. I'm certainly setting my sail to win - it's what we do with it, not how big etc. Looking forward to the next Eric Worre life's experience from which we can all learn (how about - a plane doesn't fly in a straight line, the pilot is always adusting, in a series of joined up lines, in order to reach the plotted destination). I may go sailing in Sydney later this year. Also, it was great to hear from Ann Feinstein and crew, about the Oz experience - wish I'd been there and will be. Thanks again Eric.
  • dlinkhart
Thanks for another motivational talk! Enjoy the day!

  • carybennett
Thanks Eric as much as i listen to Jim say that it kind of really hit me today as to what i have been doing the last couple months. waiting on a system we are building and really holding back on my recruiting due to it, when some in my team are out sharing away. and im not leading by example , Thanks Eric
  • ritafulton
I still catch myself whenever something changes or improves in my company..I hve to continually remind myself that I do not need to know everything about it..Just Do It!! Thanks Eric
  • Tina Perdue
Great analogy. It reminds me of the poem my kids had to memorize in school. The set of the sail.
  • For 'things' to change, WE must change. There is NO substitute for hard work, and that includes working consistently on one's self ...

    Words of Magic Jim Rohn
  • absolutely agree 100% ! This is definitely the biggest hurdle for so many people..waiting for perfection...alway waiting in the "someday I'll (isle) be successful, reach Diamond pin level etc. when
really it is all about when we decide to take charge and get it done!
Eric...just arrived back in Minnesota last night with my Aussie girlfriend with me..and it is a big storm..a white wintry wonderland! She hooted in delight at such a vast difference in temp between Ozzie land and MN! The summer you are obviously enjoying as well!
  • Pete
Part of setting my sail comes from my committment to your daily series of motivations and your 'how to' do it experience.
  • enrique62
Yes, we need to change our way of thinking in order to prosper in the 21th century.
  • Jillian
Wishing is not going to get me there - it looked great. Take charge and move forward regardless of the winds of change.
  • Art D lasvegas
    Great Lesson!
  • raybeattie
Taking charge is taking responsibility for ourselves. Good on Eric
  • I wish I was there too. Yes, if we wait for external conditions to be just right before we take action, some of us will be waiting forever.
  • Maxwellhealth
As I take this in from the shores of Lake Ontario I might get in some "Ice Sailing" and "Take Charge" of the local enviroment.....I could sit and scowl at the cold but indeed the opportunity for enjoyment is inside...the environment is but the playground....so too our Biz

Classic Rohn concept! I have blamed circumstances or used them throughout my life to justify my inaction. Things such as "I'll do it when....."

Do what you can, right where you are, with what you have!
  • nancy Eldred
Well said and very true - thanks for the reminder

Its all about the set of the sail , great lesson

    Here as promised
  • Episode 23 of Eric Worre's 100 Episode Throw Down Challenge:

I think this quote by the late Mr. Rohn is my favorite of all of his pearls of wisdom. It seems so simple and effective. I'm also reminded of a poem/ article written by Chuck Swindoll called ATTITUDE that my father gave me as a teen . It basically states that your success in life is dependent on how well you deal with what life throws at you.

    Here's the Poem.

    Attitude:

The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life.

Attitude, to me, is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company ... a church ... a home.

The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past. We cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable.

The only thing we can do is play on the one string we have, and that is our attitude ... I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me, and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you ... we are in charge of our Attitudes.
  • anthonyviglietta
I love this concept. I first heard it from Jim Rohn. Eric, what a life you're living! Seeing you travel around the world should inspire us all.
  • hlj521
That is one of my favorite pieces of inspiration, the wind blows on us all and it is the set of our sail that determines our future. Stop waiting for things to change...It is time to take charge and make the changes ourselves!
  • Katie N
Short, sweet and to the point today. I agree with your positive message.Looks like a good time down under....
  • bryantkeefe
I would like to be there also. Yes it is always up to me and me alone. I am broke that is my doing, my job does not inspire me and that is my choice....The key to my success or failure looks at me each morning in the mirror. Thanks Eric.

today a great day to hear about the change of winds...thank you
  • Agree! The only thing is do they WANT it or not. Fate is in our own hand.
  • Yes.
Taking charge does move into disconfort, but it is the only way to feedback into life that I want to move to different horizons and manifest a new reality.
I'm quite unconfortable writing this, and this is my endeavour. If I'm not living the way I want, what knowledge and set of tools must I learn and apply in order to get where I want to go.

    Keep rocking Eric.
  • Hi Eric! Yes Yes Yes! YOU ARE IN CHARGE. The wind can't blow you in any direction that you don't wish for, because you are the one who decides direction, regardless of the wind. / Linda, Sweden
  • jeffreyhall
Must be prepared for whatever the wind brings and flexible enough to respond positively.
  • Dave S
Great visual Eric and always, your message is a great way to start my day.
  • Paco_Carreno
I love that universal lesson... It must be amazing to experience it in a real boat! seein how the people who have been getting prepared, developed the skills, etc... actually go faster than others despite the wind is the same for everybody.

  • You are absolutely right Mr. Worre. It's all about the setting of the sails. Thanks and have fun. And believe me my friend, one day I will be with you on a trip like this...lol. Take care and best regards from your biggest fan.
  • All about setting the sail whatever direction the wind blows - great tip Eric.
  • I like this message. It's good for everyone to know that they can take control at any time. Cheers.

  • MagnusEdvald
Hey, have a good time in Sidney.
  • Mailen
    Hei.
It is a stone cold fact, that we have to take charge over the sails.
    Have a nice day.
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
simple but true... we have a better way, but have to set our sail correct...
  • Earl
Being adaptable is the progressiveness key of making things work in all climates. This reminds me that we can truly only control one thing and that is how we choose to act/react to the things around us... Just like the sails on the boat, we don't choose which way, or how hard or soft it blows, but we do get to choose which way we set our sails. Very nice Eric!
  • Erik
Yes this is classic Jim Rohn :) Thanks
  • mariasiro
Yes its only to take charge NOW! and always do your best!
  • setting sails is good for momentum and power to move. Navigation is required to make sure your momentum is going in the right direction -d-

It´s an amazing trip for me since I join the Network Market for thr first time in my life 3 mounth ago. From nowere to a person how start to developing as a person and move forward. Learning and training, over and over again.
Yesterday I start to set my first sails and this morning a vake up and feel great because it´s a new day to build on my future.
Great things happen inside me and I love it.
  • Great stuff Eric! We all need to keep the focus of taking control and moving forward.

It's easy for us to get down when things are tough and sometimes it feels like you have no control, but the truth is WE control our own destination!
  • yuvalcohen
    Thanks Eric
    What a wonderful example.
How to choose to navigate our way
You help refine the little things that help create business success
  • carolmcwilliams
I have known this fact intellectually for some years that to be an entrepreneur it takes a can do attitude and take charge mind set. Recently, it has hit home to me on a real gut level that it is totally up to me to create circumstances both inwardly and outwardly for success. I love your image of setting the sail, and no matter which way the wind blows I still can be in charge.

    Such responsibility, such possibility!
  • Darnell
Great visual example to show it is us that control the way we navigate our path in network marketing or in life in general and to not wait for the right time but to make it happen. Looking 4ward to the next video!! Thanks, Eric!!
