  • susanjohannesson
Talk to people around me (warm market) about our opportunity and to trust myself as a leader... But I have really started to work on it!
  • Elaine Baril
Fears!?!?!?! Got a few ones.... :( I'll work on it :)))))
  • Robertdiggsjr
    I want your lifestyle
  • ViktoriaGuerin
Face your fear and fear will disappear. That is true.
  • jlt0wn
I need to remember that successful people have fears too. They've just worked to overcome them.
  • Inger
I hated being in the middle of attention and having to present in front of a lot of people... But my team wanted me to and so I had to... Now I even start to like it :-)
  • Damijan81
One i'm always stretching for is to keep making calls everday and to keep consitent
  • Cold calling is the scariest thing for me at the moment.
  • Robbin
I'm a diver. It's so peaceful down there. All you hear is your breathing.
But I agree about getting out of your comfort zone and just doing it.
  • Thanks Eric for leading by example.
  • Lotta
What a good exampel you gave
  • classy70sgirl
How many times have a had to face my fears and the reality has never been as bad as my fear?
    Thanks for this Eric.

I think Yoda said it best, “Fear is the path to the dark side. Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.”
  • NexusResources
Feel your fears and do it anyway ....
  • AdvocareJax
One phrase I heard early from one of our top leaders that has been so helpful is to do the uncomfortable long enough until it becomes comfortable.
  • I liked it !

    235: I love it
Every day should be a new challenge and facing your fears! it opens new doors and shows commitments
    Thanks
  • Bea Resnick
Thanks for being such a great example of what you're asking us to do. I appreciate being allowed to come along as you faced a fear. Good job. Courage is contagious, too!
  • Vonnita2010
Funny, today I watched a movie that really touched the FACING FEARS area, basically the message was, if you want to be big and reach your goals you need to face your fears, accept them and get over them. In NM, I have to accept that I am not a phone person and that calling specially for meetings does make me unconfortable, I still need to work on that since it is one of the most important if not the most important step in MLM. aggghhhh
  • pech
I have to face the fear what other people think about my new business. May be because i am proud of my present business.
  • mspaulamc
I remember a diamond in Amway saying... "it was in doing the things that I feared the most, that I ended up having the most fun!"

That was many years ago and I have engaged "courageously" since then in facing many a fear .. and that is a true saying!!!!!

As is this one ... Fear is the opposite of faith..

Eric, thank you ... you rock!
  • CarlosVera
This is really funny, I've been diving for almost 15 years now but my greatest fear is actually something apparently so easy to overcome: rejection. After 18 years working in the banking business most of my friends think I went nuts all of a sudden when I joined the industry. I guess I'll have to think of it as diving, and it will be a lot easier and enjoyable !!!
  • Vange01
Thanks for the reminder and you're right I have to face my fears
  • Mark from Germany
.. anyone really taken the time to look at where they're fears lie ? a BIG one .. daily. If you're colouring your pants anew, you're on to something big .. trust in Love in the process .. it makes it bearable.
  • gjt
facing our fears is so important but it is one I struggle with but working on it

  • alltheverybest
Great post! What is the colour of fear Eric? Haha..
  • annenz
Thank you for sharing one of your fears. We forget others are feeling uncomfortable and are fearful. I agree once you push through it, in hindsight the feeling after is never as bad as you think it was going to be. Thanks for the great video.
  • tyroneholmes
Thanks Eric for showing by example.
  • Steve Weaver
Got to get real and face my fears. We need to focus on completion vs perfection.
  • DianaValdez
Steping out of the comfort zone can be very scary. But what a good feeling after doing it. I want to keep stepping out of my comfort zone even if it's the slighets every mont. Thank you Eric!
  • Lorraine
I see those that have success and forget that they also had fears that they needed to over come. Thanks for sharing this with me.
  • CINDYSU
Fear of rejection, number one that's holding me back. But I can face that and be bigger than it!
  • Irina
Fear is an amazing emotion and keeps so many from so much.
Whatever we feed grows and gets stronger.
Whatever we starve gets weaker and dies.
We have to feed our faith and starve our fears.
  • OK I will get to that calling list-today! I'd rather go diving in Great Barrier reef..oh you mean I get to do that in the Great Barrier reef if I make enough calls and tell enough compelling stories to enough people?
Oh I get it...I really get it! Let me get to it then!
  • kgadol
Fears must be faced ... that which does not kills us makes us stronger!
  • Luis (Pelon)
    Working on facing fears.
  • germarl
    ????....
  • AviPeer
Go where your fears are and you will succeed
  • Jay VanNostrand
fear is a dangerous thought pattern (not a feeling) that means you're lost in the past or making up a negative story about the future...come back to the present...do something right NOW that gets you out of your comfort zone...and that 'uncomfortable' feeling you have is a good thing...it means you're growing!
  • Phone calling! I should do more of that!!!
  • martinvf
Facing my fears has given me great power and control over me.
It allows me to really go to the next step.
Facing and traspassing my fears is like seeing at a big wall and realize that it's made of paper which I can easily break.

    Saludos from Mexico City
  • quincy
I sometimes fear prospecting. But once I do one, the rest come easier.
  • jbledsoejr
Fear is the biggest hindrance to becoming successful that there is...the thing is we can never stop facing our fears if we want to become successful. Once 1 fear is conquered, then there will be something else that comes up, and so on. However, if we create a habit of attacking our fears quicker then that becomes habitual which helps us become what we desire to be. Great stuff! thanks for sharing Eric!
  • bartar20
We all have it just got to push thru it and perservere!!!
  • Pete
This is absolutely the main reason that people fail. Their fear keeps them from even trying
  • randyhendrickson
Thank you for this show. I have many fears, and I know I must face them.
  • Darnell
That is deep doing what you just did!! Thanks so much Eric. Takes courage to confront one's fears and to come over on the other side victorious. Easier said than done and once done can no one or nothing get in the way of a successful person. Looking 4ward to the next video!!
  • seija
    It is not always easy...!
  • Thanks Eric, eliminating your fear, its very important in our business, fear of failure, fear of rejection, he have to get rid of these as soon as possible.
  • mbryant
Great backdrop to your message, Eric!
  • JudasPierce
one of the best way to have to fear is to jeep out of a plane...skydiving is a great way to let everything in life go....what a rush!
  • socorro
that is quite truth, they look like big monsters, I am still very anconfortable, thank you
  • onemartymac
Face your Fears and enjoy your life. Thanks

  • ronaldvandomburg
wouw, this is a strong message. use your daily experience to develop yourself. thanks Eric
  • Jose Lopez
Great reminder! This is a must in our daily activities.

Eric, besides the message it self, I somehow felt something really special with today's episode. I think you are moving to the next level as a proffesional comunicator. It takes quick thinking and imagination to mix your every day life experiences with the daily messages you are comitted to share with us. In was really cool to see your genius to work in this chapter. Congrats!
  • highimpact0406
Eric, thx for the message today, and I completely understand the idea of facing your fears...my request for you is that you maybe have someone coming up, or you yourself, that could address "how" to deal with your fears and explain to people who need the coaching like me, exactly how to do that.
  • Congratulations Eric!!! Awesome, even that little bit of turquoise water, wow. I am watching these before I make some calls today...thanks!
  • Hans
Which fears? What is he talking about? ;-)
  • Luis Gringras
Taking the phone to make a phone call is always a way to help to desapear the fear
  • I've been doing some catch up here, and I just wanna ask... are you SURE you went down there? All I saw was you guys splashing around a bit in some cage.... hahah LOL!!!

Thanks for taking us with you..... hmmmmmmmm :-)
  • amberaimshigh
Its funny that you are talking about this now. I was successful in a past networking business. The company let me down. I have a great company now and have let myself down because I am scared of success again. Knowing what it takes to be successful, I worry about how will I handle the success again when by myself? See I know I can be successful again and yet I'm scared of it! hmmmm... perfect timing for me!
  • MarvinTowler
False Evidennce Appearing Real! Faith eliminates fear. You have to have faith in yourself and your opportunity.
  • you potential to grow as an individual is directly proprotinal to your willingness to face you fears
  • This reminds me of when I had an opportunity to dive for the first and only time off Lady Elliott Island on the Barrier Reef about 26 years ago. Wow that was some experience not easy to put into words.
  • angelalam321
Today someone rejected me, looked me in the eye and said "I don't want to challenge you, but are you sure you have such a good business"? I told her "Just wait and see and be sure you are there to celebrate my success". It's the belief in the company, the MLM profession and myself that keeps me there!
  • conniegleave
Don't let anyone tell you can't be done - Don't let anyone convince you not to try - Believe in yourself and what you know to be true - and last but not least - never quit - do "it" until...no excuses!!!
  • Mark_AbrahamsUK
I love the Whitsundays (even though it was raining last time I saw it). And yes, I have decided that nothing is going to hold me back from success...and I am reframing my fears, realigning my resources....diving into my inner reserves...readying and training to take responsibility for those I sponsor. Thanks again Eric
  • Well there have been a few fears to conquer along the way, and the first was for me as fore many others, the telephone! Now it mostly still is, talking to a lot of people on stage.......But it gets a little easier and I feel more comfortable step by step....
  • ALmost missed this posting ;)
  • veronikakari
FAcing fear is not easy, but it is what hels to develop.
  • Thanks Eric....awesome !!
  • Jilliangene
Thank you for sharing your trip with us. You look wonderful, totally relaxed and you are having a great time. What we fear is never as bad as we think it is going to be. I am getting so much better at facing my fear of calling people, explaining this business and most importantly I am working on getting better about hearing rejection. It is a very slow and yes painful process facing my fears. It is all day every day. I believe you it will get better. Thanks again.
Enjoy the rest of you trip.
  • jerryscribner
    Thank you Eric

Speaking of ghosts, I found "The Six Ghosts of Fear" from Napoleon Hill's "Think and Grow Rich" a good way to identify and face one's fears.
And thanks for the tip on the Flip's water case. There was I gonna go out and get one for mine :-)
  • Gustavo Muñoz - Colombia
Since I decided to join NMB is has been an amazing path of finding my fears and then working with them. It is a matter of keep on working on them, facing them and also deal when then.
  • brianhepner
This is a life skill, face founded and unfounded fears, or they will stop you. If your choice is to not let them stop you the future really is of your creating. Powerfull. Thanks Eric
  • Fear is a very powerful thing. Once we face them then we usually see it was not as big as our minds had thought. This is awesome seeing Australia.
  • karivankleef
I always have a fear when talking with people that I sound less intelligent than I am. I have found though the more I read and the more I listen the more comfortable I become with what I know.
  • keith murfet
I'm not sure who to credit with this quote: "The mind, once stretched to a new idea, never goes back to its original dimensions" but I feel that it's also very appropriate to facing your fears. Once you step out of that comfort zone it becomes easier to take more steps. Well done Eric and thanks for the travelogue on our beautiful country. The Barrier Reef area is so unique.
  • beckydesabah
A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to visit Universal Studios in Orlando in the company of my daughter and my 2 nephews . . all grown-up... and as expected they wanted to take the ride on "the Dragons" which was scary even to look at. After long minutes of undecision, lots of unpleasent thoughts and an emotional struggle, I finally got myself on the "blue Dragon" flying and screaming. When the ride ended we all, including me, decided to take another ride. Ofcourse I screamed again, but also enjoyed it to the fullest as my very first challenge with my fears. I didn't become a fan of riding "Dragons" but at least proved that I can challenge my fears and overcome them.

Thank you Eric for reminding me what I am capable of.
  • I have to admit, I have a lot of fears, especially in concern with the way I relate to other people and how they relate to me - but I have one faveorite movie quote that I try to live by because I feel it's one of lifes most profound truths even it might seem a little cheezy since it's a blockbuster movie quote, it goes like this: "Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hate. Hate leads to suffering.” - so I try to be fearless and turn my fears into cautions, sometimes its a struggle but everytime you do something you fear it becomes a little bit easier....it you feel much more free after...
  • Erik
When Eric decided to challenge us to make a comment for 100 shows in a row, I decided to make a comitment to myself to comment not only 100 shows, but also comment 7 days a week in that same period. So far I`ve done so :)
  • John Boyd
I think I will stick to MLM!

    Eric

What a great example of facing your fears. I got the message! thanks hope you had a great time and no longer have that fear. you go Eric!
  • bethascoli
This is such an important topic to me. Fear has been a big part of my life, I was just one of those kids that was afraid of everything. As an adult, I still have fears but am working to overcome them. I realized that children learn what is modeled by their parents, and when I have children of my own, I don't want them to be afraid of so many things. I want them to see a strong confident mother and know that they are capable of doing anything.

I believe in the anagram that FEAR is just false expectations appearing real. Once you do the thing you were afraid of, you realize that it wasn't so bad, maybe even fun! But it is the false expectaion we have in our mind that we so strongly believe in that keeps that fear alive.

Eric, I congratulate you on facing your fear and I am inspired by you. I will keep this story in mind next time I find my thoughts filled with false expectations.
  • Just remembered the title of a book that I haven't yet read that we might all find useful on this subject. Here is a great synopsis of the book by Alexander Kjerulf on Amazon.co.uk of "Feel the Fear (and do it anyway)" by Susan Jeffers:

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This book is about the fears that we all have in our lives to some degree. Fear of failing. Fear of succeeding. Fear of decisions. Fear of aging, of loss or of helplessness.

The books basic premise is, that your aim should not be to get rid of your fears. You should feel your fear, but not let it stop you from doing things you really want to do.

The book describes three levels of fear. The first level is the actual event that you fear - say losing you job. The second level is the deeper fear, triggered by the first level - eg. rejection (if being fired would make you feel rejected). Beneath that on the third level there's only one fear: The fear that you won't be able to cope. If you knew in advance that you could take it, there would be nothing to be afraid of. So all fear reduces to fear of not being able to cope.

This is interesting, because this means that the best way to handle your fear, isn't to make your life safer - it's to increase your abilities, or your faith in your abilities. The more you know you can handle, the less reason there is to fear.

This point is illustrated with several stories of people who have diminished their lives time and again, to keep safe. This doesn't reduce fear, quite the contrary, these people lived in perpetual fear. When some catastrophic event interfered with their reduced existence (say the death of a spouse), some of these people found that they were forced to reconnect with life, and that they could cope. And this reduced their fear.

The book also emphasizes positivity as a way to reduce fear. The book argues that you need to constantly train your positive thinking, or you'll revert to negative thinking.

There's also an excellent chapter on decision making, which argues that many of us see a decision making process mostly in the light of what we'll lose or risk in each alternative before us. To reduce the fear (or discomfort) of making a decision, we should realize that all options are good, and that no mater what we choose, it's still up to us to make it work.

The book contains many illustrative stories and exercises you can try yourself. I found it informative, entertaining and thought-provoking, and I recommend this book to anyone interested in the mechanisms that hold people back from growth and change.

    -----------------

I think I might buy it and read it on the plane next week ;-)

    @Veterus
  • I think I only have ONE fear - which is the fear of running out of money before the entrepreneurial opportunity pays enough to support our lifestyle - that is what seems to be stopping me going full-time in any one of the proven wealth building strategies that I have learned about.

I was talking with a friend about this 6 months or more ago and he pointed out that in the UK we are fortunate enough to have a "welfare" system that would always provide a roof, education and healthcare as well as a meagre supply of money to live on and our friends and family can always provide a sofa or a room for short periods or permanently- so actually there is never a real downside to "failure" other than the hit that you would take on your ego IF you cared what others thought. If you were single - that would hold true - but when you are married with kids you also have to worry about their feelings - especially the kids.

I was also talking with some other entrepreneurs about this theme and one of them pointed out that he sees fewer well-educated, successful career people break away from their J.O.B. because of the peer pressure and the perceived need to carry on turning that giant hamster wheel that they've built for themselves - boy do I know that feeling. Many successful people had fewer options than to succeed and nothing to lose. Look how many multi-millionaires suffer from dyslexia and had been written off by the education system and the corporate world.

Ideally, we would learn all of this as younger people before we succumb to the baggage of consumerism where we buy a load of stuff we don't need like cars, houses, televisions etc and before we get married without having grown up conversations about joint goals, aspirations, contributions and sacrifices that we are prepared to make to achieve them.

Robert Kiyosaki in his excellent book "Rich Dad Poor Dad" talks about delayed gratification as one of the keys to success but of course once you are already gratified with loads of "doodads" like private healthcare, private education and a big mortgage it's difficult to say - let's downsize for 6 months - 3 years and make our fortune - THEN get it all back.

I guess in principle this should be a strong enough "WHY?" (let's do this full on for 3 months before we run out of cash) but it could also be seen as plain bad judgement when a slower burn approach might get there without the roller-coaster. And there would be plenty of people lined up to say - "for heaven's sake stop dreaming and get yourself a job - look at what you're doing to your wife/kids/dog" (;-0).

But you know - none of us can afford to lose a day - we might only have one more day, week, month or year - you never know.

Yesterday I met and listened to Richard Reed of Innocent Smoothie's fame tell his story of sacrifice and success as a young, single man with his 2 best mates eating breakfast cereal 3 times a day and subsisting for 10 months until that final throw of the dice created the breakthrough they needed. He talked about waving off his girlfriend as she went on her posh skiing holiday with all of his other working mates etc - you see he "earned" it by NEVER giving up - NO MATTER WHAT.

So we all know the formula and increasingly we come to believe that we CAN do it if we just burn those bridges and diligently work the plan.

Perhaps great 1:1 and group mentoring is the way to address this (and it seems the best leaders - like Brig Hart? put exactly this sort of support network in place to create the best possible chances of success for people that will just be coachable, work the plan and top up their self-belief through personal development and regularly meeting with their upbeat peergroup to recharge their batteries). The cynics can always point to the evident benefit that these leaders gain from cross-selling these support systems but maybe he knows a bit given he's one of the top earners (if not the top earner?) in MLM?

Someone who has been successful setting you daily and weekly goals via a plan or virtual relationship doesn't generate the same confidence and belief as getting together with someone daily who can look you in the eye, affirm you and hold you to account for the promises that you've made.

Robert G Allen and Mark Victor Hansen's excellent book, "The One Minute Millionaire" tells the story of someon that creates a very powerful "WHY?" which drives her to succceed (of course the accepted wisdom is "right at the last minute") but really, it's difficult for most people to find a "Why that makes you cry" - that "intense, burning desire" that Napoleon Hill refers to in "Think and Grow Rich" that gets them to burn their ships/bridges and fully commit themselves to their chosen course of action.

I do have a great idea out of this though which I'll share with Eric on the 15th!

Looking forward to seeing everyone that's going to be in SF for the training at the Hilton. I'm in SF from 12 Feb and would love to meet up with anyone that is in town ahead of the event. Tweet me @Veterus to link up.

I do go on don't I....that's the passion coming out and combining with my burning desire to teach and help others - I hope some of you find my rambles helpful in some way ;-)
  • Pepeneto
A brave person is not who doesn´t feel fear, is the person who face his fears. We all feel the fears, even successful people still having a lot of fears, but the key is the way you face them.
  • Fear and doubt is what holds us back from taking the actions we need to build our business, and from enjoying other things in life like scuba diving. I know I still face the doubts every day, but I don't let it stop me (usually ;) from taking the steps to achieving my goals.

Great to see you had an awesome time here in Oz!
  • Marina
It was an amazing experience for me! I was never thinking about Scuba Diving as one thing I want to do or something I'll afraid of. But when I start this process, I understood that I'm scared of this very much and also was ready to stop this each second. But as an advice, I think it helps Eric and it helps me, we didn't want to show our fear to each other. And we overcame it together.
The great book of 50 Cent "50th Law", which Eric suggested before, is talking how to face your fear and use the situation for your benefits. It's really good book. I like it very much.
If you remember in one of the interviews with Mark Yarnell, Mark was talking about people who overcame their fears of snakes, sharks or what ever and it helped them to became successful in their business or private life.
So it's very important for us to go through our fears, and I'll tell you: it's not that bad as we were thinking before! Now I'm looking forward to the next opportunity for Scuba diving in some other nice place :)
Thanks Eric for all your amazing passion for our profession and your desire to create much more professionals in our business! Thank you to help me to make my first step to Scuba Diving adventure!
    Marina
  • bethascoli
    Marina,

Thank you for reminding me of that book "The 50th Law" - that is definitely one that I need to get!

I'm glad you had a good time scuba diving - it is helpful to go through an experience like that with someone else because you can encourage each other. Congratulations on facing your fear! I bet you felt great after you did it :)
  • ulla99
WOW, Well done! We all have fears to take care of, small and big. Let´s master them!
  • Looks like your having a "continued blast" Eric. Congrats. Yes there are a lot of us with that fear mentality. Facing your fears is so important, yet it is one of the biggest stumbling block. Fear of the phone, (it must way 50 pounds!) - Fear of rejection! So many more. We have all heard that F.E.A.R. is nothing more than "False-Expectations-Appearing-Real

I spent 30 years prior to NM as a police officer and had people stuff guns and knives at my throat. Now that was FEAR at the most lethal point, yet we get in this thing (NM) and we all have that fear build inside of us that we DO HAVE TO OVERCOME...

Face your Fears and you will become un-stoppable. Just put "diving" on my "bucket list".
  • eugenejohnson
Attack your FEAR.....im motivated by fear.....i have a fear of fear....i hate being scared to do something....i attack things im afraid of......("the only thing you have to fear is fear it self" Franklin Rosevelt)
  • happyhealthybob
I am truly afraid of people saying no, and that i never saying the right thing to people when talking about my product/opp.
  • orlyalbo
This is precisely what i compete right now - facing my fear with my project! Thank you Eric.
  • garyparmenter
So true! I find when I face the fears they fade away. With more experience more insight more insight less fear.
  • raybeattie
The fear of not being confident enough when making a presentation.
  • cherisizzles
Okaaaaaaay! If you can do it, I can do it. Right?
  • drpricedc
Congratulations on facing your fear! You are walking the walk!
  • Looks like you had a wonderful time! And you faced a fear - very cool.
  • Foord Yates
If F.E.A.R. is False Evidence Appearing Real... then... why are we afraid of it? It's not logical.

One of my big fears is disappointing my Grandfather. He was my hero.
But why is this still a factor in my life when he's been dead since 1996?

    On a related note,
One of my friends has one of those "What Would Jesus Do?" keyrings. He has it with him all the time, and I've seen him on many occaisions, stop and consult the keyring and pause as if waiting for advice to flow.
HE died over two thousand years ago, not in 1996.

So... ultimately.... maybe its like the Time Machine from the movie "The Time Machine"...
You can look at it as a great piece of movie memorabilia,
Or you can look at it as something Elton John would drive through the Everglades.

It doesn't reaaaaaaally matter that much, does it?

I guess that facing our fears is the entire key to building a large organization. Why don't we talk to the "successful" person? Why don't we make another call? Why don't we approach this business as the multi-million dollar business it is except for the fear that: "Well I know is can be but I don't know I can do it," or "Well, I've spent the past 30 years in this profession how will it look for me just to change?" or "What will my wife think if I go after this again and can't make it work?" or...
I think fear is the only thing that is stopping all of us from success. It certainly is the dominate thing in almost everything else in our lives. I am speaking for myself at this point.
  • gmuhammad
    Thanks Eric
  • Fear - the biggest crippler and blockade to success that exists. Thank you for recommending 'The 50th Law' a while back - I received it as a Christmas present and it is absolutely excellent with regards to facing and conquering our fears.

    Best to you,
    Scott
  • Tina Perdue
I will face my fears. Everyone says the same thing..so it must be true.
  • maariee
    Great advice, thank you Eric.
  • denagottlieb
Well, you sure faced your fear! Good for you!
    Great message too. Thanks!
  • hanneretvik
Fears can and should be fought and overcome. An example: since childhood I have been terrorized by wasps, completely unable to control myself even if I saw one far away. Once I even nearly let my baby son fall down from the 4th floor, because the urge to wave the wasp away was greater than holding on to him! I had to avoid for instance all business lunches I knew would be held outside in the summer because I knew I would not be able to remain seated and would make myself ridiculous. For years I postponed seeking professional help for this, for fear of what the therapy might involve. Finally by incidence last winter I met a psychologist that cured my fear in one hour and Summer 2009 has been the best in my whole life. So, let's also face the fears that hold us back in our profession!
  • You have such a fantastic teaching style. Some people learn auditorily; others visually; others by doing; some with a combination of all. You lead by example and that's a great tool to pass on to others. What an extraordinary man you are! Thanks for keeping me feeling optimistic!

Doing a cash flow class ( with worksheet) instead of a normal pbr
but I will attend one at an abb this coming tuesday, hope that will help.

Calling people and rejection are my biggest fears; well before presenting, know I love to present to people my business and doing the capacitations myself
  • tomlacey
Excellent message. WE all need to break thru those imagined fears when we are doing something new.
  • This is a great message Eric! I must say I am a little envious of the weather there... we're in the middle of a blizzard!
  • gabisahar
    hi Eric,
I got it, conquer my fears, however, you just reminded me of my old favourite hobby, diving!! thanks for that!
  • kristibateman
That was AWESOME Eric.....I would have great fear of doing what you did also, I am afraid of water, cannot swim....anyway I also have fear of calling leads, presentations...ect.
  • timandtrcia
If you have a strong enough desire and vision the fear won't matter. Your vision will give you the self-motivation and courage to push through. Action cures fear!
  • Congratulations on taking on this challenge.
This segment of NMP is the perfect example of what it might be like to jump into a pond of unknown consequence, and thankfully exit all the better for the experience .
When entering any new environment, let's say network marketing, the initial immersion while promising all kinds of predictable outcomes, can also be overwhelming and challenge you with with doubt and self limiting beliefs about the outcome of the challenge.
The need for a strong leader that is willing to hand hold you through the initial immersion phase is essential to your overcoming your fears and becoming successful in navigating the outcomes.
Succeeding through your fears of the unknown and gaining some degree of comfort in what is otherwise a hostile environment is where leadership and determination to succeed helps shape our character.
It has never been better demonstrated than when you entered the water with your leader/ trainer, guiding you all the way. Congratulations on overcoming your fears.
I recall vividly when I took my first dive, unprepared, into 80 feet of water and nearly bought the farm, because I did not respect the fundamentals of checking out my equipment and training with a professional prior to my first dive. It was a defining moment and changed my philosophy on life and how to manage it to my advantage.
I am older and wiser, but watching you brought back the vivid memories of running out of air with 30 feet of water over my head. Something akin to running a 100 yard dash in a 90 yard gym. Ouch!
  • travelprohawaii
Fears seem so real and knowing that they are only ghosts is a step in the right direction. Once those fears are faced and conquered they really are figments of our imagination! Consistent action helps keep the fears away and probably dismiss them altogether. Thanks Erik!
  • Steve_Nelson
I'm reading a book right now that Eric recommended we get called The 50th Law by Robert Greene and 50 Cent. It's a great book about dealing with your fears and overcoming adversity. It is a great feeling when you have fear of doing something and you do it anyway, especially when you win (make the sale, etc.)
Thank you for a great show Eric, although I think you would have made your point better had you called on, say, Brett Favre via Skype and tried to get him to join your network marketing business. Haha, I'm kidding. GREAT SHOW! Have a great weekend!
  • Decide to not let fear hold you back from success. Life is full of decisions. The decisions we make today will build the world we live in tomorrow. If we choose to let fear influence those decisions, then our life will be filled with 'what ifs' and regret. We can all draw from past experiences where we have been scared to death. Pick the times where we did not let fear get in the way. What caused us to move past our fear?

What would you do if there were no other options? What if the only choice was straight ahead - through your fear? Decide to not let fear hold you back from success!
  • Bernadette
When you take action on your fear, like making a phone call, it always feels better after. No matter the outcome.
  • MattinJaxfl
I need to face the fear of letting people know me.
Also fear of rejection of people that already know me.
  • The most common way to deal with fear or any emotional state that stops you or takes over is to honor it. The 'box' will only get smaller and eventually you will have to deal with it. Another method is what Eric proposes. There is another step before Eric's that can be used in many places. If you are angry, make your self even more angry and then ratchet it higher and at some point you will see you are the one pulling the strings. If you can make yourself more angry you can also be calm and it works for fear too. Doing it in public should get rid of fear of public speaking too.

My fear is .....speaking in public. But I did it ,and next week I am gonna do it again.
You have to do the fear thing over and over , and over again untill the fear is gone.

#235 - Facing Your FEARS - It can be difficult, but I need to face my fears. Most of the time our fears are imaginary, but face them anyway. I agree with Eric that we need to decide not to let something hold us back.It is a decision.
  • PaulineP
Face that fear. Fear is a no, yes or maybe; it is not now, never, go away, stop talking, not interested, who are you, blah, blah, blah. FEAR has a face and a mouth. You have ears, ..so they hate brocolli....what else is new? Quit your stagnation, embrace initiative, get INTO activity and activity will get you beyond "FEAR".......fear is simply an EXCUSE to inactivity.
  • gingerva
Great show Eric and way to go! Anyone can conquer fear by doing the things he fears to do. And then you find, it wasn't all that bad.
  • Maxwellhealth
Looks like a Great Day "Down Under" literally......anyway I would suggest that the biggest issue about "fear" in our business is driven by "lack".....lack of activity...lack of prospects....lack of capital....it becomes a vicious circle as with the lack of activity each prospect is like a "Pearl" and the fear of losing that precious pearl drives people to postpone/avoid the exposing and follow-up...and circle keeps rolling down the road.....
  • soxfan071
I think of all the great things I would have missed in life if I let my fear stop me from going forward with something new. I don't want to miss the chance at a better way so, I am willing to face my fears. I can't expect others to face there fears if as a leader I am not willing to face mine.
    Thank you
  • gloriavintila
Great show! Yes, after facing your fears and doing what you were supposed to do, you look back and say: Wow, it's wasn't even that bad!"
  • ngocttk
Well done, Eric. Congratulations to your facing fear! I think I need to face with criticism of others :)
  • Erik
This is the seccond time Ive watched this. I think facing your fear is one of the secrets to achive success :)
  • Marion
Thanks for sharing your fears with us -
It makes you more human :)
I work on mine daily, with regard to the business, and then then there are some that I don't face at all - avoid them like the plague. I guess I shall have to change that!

Today I faced a fear that I have which is... fear of public speaking. This is the biggest fear I face in growing my business as I know I could get more leverage by doing so. I signed up for a public speaking boot camp. Breathe.....
Hope to meet you tomorrow night at the Jim Rohn memorial tribute. He has been a wonderful influence on my perspective for Network Marketing.

Calling people again that haven't returned my calls. I guess that would fall into the rejection category, or I don't want to be perceived as a pest category.
  • aliceclifford
Hi: Eric you must be haveing a good time. That is a true smile on your face. You are so right leaders are not born,But some people are born to be a leader. With traning and a lot of hard work it can happen. Thanks A.C.

The fears that I need to face is not having the self confidence of being a successful network marketer and rejection of people. The more that I face my fears by taking action the more confident I am.
  • m_cortez74
The reword must be great then the fear..... :)
  • Ellis3
The fear I need to face is to be able to talk to people I know who have the influence to get this business done but I worry they will say "no". I "know" better but still get the jitters just thinking about making that call. I got to get over that quickly!
  • I'm not sure if this is fear, but I am uncomfortable to make calls because I am not certain what to say in a lot of circumstances. So I feel like I am not ready to make that call...
  • jennyc
I know that feeling very well. Our upline likes to say, "You can't say the wrong thing to the right person"..... so, if the prospect says no thanks, then just consider it practice and move on to the next one. It does get easier with practice.

One should face our own fears, not matter what. is the only way to be able to succeed in our lives.

I'm fearless talking to strangers in the airport but still need to overcome the fear of rejection from friends. I fear that I come off as a salesman rather then trying to share a great product and more importantly a great business model that can change their lives. Still fishing for the right approach.
  • caronwashington
Its all about facing fear and overcoming something. If you read any success story of someone who went from "rags to riches" their story comes with pain, fear, overcoming obstacles, then success. F.E.A.R- false evidence appearing real is all it is. When we can can face it head on and conquer it then it gives us more confidence with all endeavors.
  • The moral of the story is that leaders lead by example. BRAVO SIR!
  • SJ Doug
Facing my fear is probably the thing that limits me the most in life.
I am going out to face some rejection to day, one of my biggest fears.
Eric Let me know when you are ready and I will take you diving in Northern California.

    Denise Cox: great video
  • Bravo Eric! Way to walk the walk. The best way to overcome our fears is to face them head on. Once we do that, suddenly the elephant in the room becomes a mouse.
  • Eric, Fear of rejection, oh how do I struggle with that. I'm a member of the N.F.L. Club and I'm getting started all over again in a new company. I've really had a hard time picking up the phone this time. I too will be at Jim's memorial tomorrow hope to have a chance to speak with you. Only wish we were there under different circumstances.
  • To think we frequented Hayman and the Whitsunday group of Islands as kids and now people are paying tens of thousands of dollars to experience it. That's awesome.

    Great video Eric. Thanks.

  • Tarashon Broomes
once you can face your fear, there is really nothing stopping you from accomplishing what you want in life, business etc
  • Was a crazy day, but I made it here and I'm glad I did. Perfect timing, as usual, Eric! We're getting ready to embark on something in our business that we've never done before. We're excited, yet a little nervous at the same time, but I also know if I don't face this, the alternative is that I've done nothing... literally, so once again, great episode!
  • So basically jump in with both feet and fully immersed.
  • Jillian
Great message from downunder. I really appreciate seeing the world vicariously through you and NWM Pro.

The demon of fear is a stronghold for many different forms. Fear of the dark, fear of becoming lost in a strange place, or fear of saying something to someone you don't know. It comes in all different shapes and forms but it's all the same thing. This is the great destroyers best weapon, but if you become an overcomer than you have an edge. An edge to become all you can be.
  • I've come to discover just how Fear of things that don't matter (like being told "no") impede our development in this business. Get in there and get after it!
  • What a great message! Thanks Eric!
  • jeanalbert
F.E.A.R. (False Evidence Appearing Real) keeps us from succeeding in our business. Most of us have the fear of approaching others about our opportunities, whether it be over the phone or face-to-face. But whos fear should be greater? Our fear of approaching and sharing a lifeline to all those around us, or the fear of those all around us who still have J.O.B.s (Just Over Broke) and who won't face the stark reality of our times that there is no job security, and that the only security one can have is the one they create?

Thank you Eric. You faced the fear of diving, were you ready to jump back in? No. It usually takes more than one time of doing something to over come a fear, You taught us today just to do it! Wonderful advice.
  • latachia_2
Eric, that was beautiful(what we got to see of it!) Face your fears. As Rosevelt said,"There's nothing to fear but fear itself!" I have heard a lot of singers & actors on talk shows(Such as The View or Oprah) tell the host(when asked ,if they feel fear or such before a performance& most of them do say yes. I guess it's just a natural thing to feel that before doing something that's important to you or things such as sky diving & such.(Or dredging the bottom of the sea!)
  • Dee_Canada
Kudos to you Eric!! Keep going....diving can be such an amazing experience!

My fear...not being able to walk the walk. Lord knows I can talk....have to learn to listen better. I am afraid that I will not be the leader that I long to be. I am afraid that people will see me as a fraud instead of a visionary...dreamer...go-getter. Why do I fear that?? I fear letting anyone down. I feel responsible to make them successful. Fear is the greatest hinderance. If you can step out and face our fear of diving...albeit reluctantly...it is a great example to us all. Embrace the fear....push through it...conquer it!!

    Love ya!!
    Dee
  • tambry
I think it needs to be distinguished that just because you can overcome your fear of something doesn't mean that you want to do it a second time or over and over again. It can get easier but doesn't necessarily ensure that you will enjoy it or want to continue to struggle with it for an extended period of time.
  • Its funny you talked today about facing your fears - even though I have been in the sales field for 40 years, I still get a bit fearful before I start making my sales phone calls. Once I have started - - I have a ball on the phone and am very good at it. Thank you, Eric!
  • genegrass
Our minds often plays wild tricks on us. Time for us to trick that portion of our subconscious that plays games with us! Sometimes I approach it as a monkey on my shoulder. It is with me. It is still there. I talk to the fear. I can learm to train the fear. I can play games with the fear. Eventually, I am able to control fear....and it becomes transparent and disappears!

Thanks for the underwater video. I love diving, yet he first time down to 50 meters off Thailand in clear water was a little scary!

As Mark Twain said: "Do something every day that you don't want to do; this is the golden rule for acquiring the habit of doing your duty without pain."
  • clairecameron
My biggest fear is that I am not enough. Therefore I am constantly driven to DO more rather than BE. I am also afraid of diving so when I was on the Barrier Reef I snorkeled (which was a first for me and was also very uncomfortable thing for me to do!). But I still saw the most incredible sights and felt as though I was in the fishes world rather than looking from the outside as is the usual when we see wild creatures. Thanks for sharing your DOwn Under experiences.
  • padraicmccracken
    Youre a stud!
  • Feel the fear and do it anyway, I wish... Well done Eric on facing yours!
  • My biggest fear is public speaking. Although I have spoken in front of small groups, those HUGE crowds of like HUNDREDS freak me out a little. I remember doing it once. I don't have a problem going to the stage, but when I'm up there, it's difficult to keep my cool. I get a little sweaty, the heart pounds furiously like I'm having a heart attack or something. This is one of my biggest goals--to speak in front of thousands of people.
  • julie67
Our minds can stop us from doing things we know we should do. How silly is that! I think we can teach our minds not to be afraid by doing what we fear over and over. I always find strength in the Bible. Good job being an example to the rest of us. Thanks Eric!
  • krisic
Boy, I should have watched this video this morning, I battled with myself all day today about making phones calls! I gotta get over it!
  • HoracioMejia
My fear is rejection. I haven't been successful at facing this fear. I just don't pick up the phone. I am taking a "no" as a no for my person, rather than a no to the business. I am relaunching my business, and I am preparing myself to face that big fear, otherwise, I will not be successful ever.
  • pollyhulseman
Facing fears is just what I have been focusing on for 2010. I found someone outside my business to start holding me accountable. Contacting new people and following up are my fears - just need to face it.
  • lorijones
I too have the fear of picking up the phone and worrying what the person on the other end will think. Definetly something I need to overcome to be successful.
  • I just had a conversation with a team member about this. Take the first thing after "because" from the sentence that is describing why their business is not working and that is their biggest fear.

Great post! (And too bad your camera got wet)
  • Ria Leermakers
    Fear is a strange thing.
For me the fear of the reaction of people gives me a hard time picking up the phone and make the call when its related to my business. The same action is no problem when I have got to do it for another purpose.
A great help for me are the CD's of Peter Pearson and Randy Gage: Mental Edge MLM.
  • Cee_G
Hi Eric...congrats to you!!!!! Not only did you teach a great lesson but you demonstrated it too! I loved this episode. The message is so true. You can either conquer your fears, or they will conquer you. I think the way you presented this, allowing us to "walk" through this with you, was very powerful. Thank you!
  • Eileen
Ok! My biggest fear is alienating people with this biz. No more!
  • mrmauriocrawford
"Wow..Face you fears...Whatever that is." SIMPLE & AWESOME. I needed to hear that today. I'll be looking at this one again probably once/twice a week.
  • Thanks Eric. Always a good reminder and one of the things that stops a lot of people in their tracks.
  • Way to face your fears Eric! Fear is the by far the most important thing to overcome. Afterall, fear is simply...

F.E.A.R - False Evidence Appearing to be Real

Now let's all go face our fears!
  • Well done Eric, facing your fear of going down under water! This profession helped me to overcome one of my greatest fears: to speak in front of people...Now I do it with pleasure and I love doing presentations.
  • jeffreyhall
Fear is probably the single biggest deterrent to virtually everyone. Learning to push through is a challenge, however, coming out on the other side is so gratifying!
  • Good stuff Eric.. you always provide the best videos my friend!!
  • dstfa96
Most of the things we imagine in our minds and "fear" happening, never happens. We all have those people on our list that we fear calling because we think we know that they will respond negatively to what we have to offer. We need to call them anyway and when we do we will find that how they respond to us will probably be totally different than what we "feared" or imagined! So lets all take the challenge to face the fear of calling those prospects, because if we don't call them then someone else will.
  • Connie Tolton
    Thanks for the reminder.

good analogy. Playing baseball, I was always afraid to step up to the plate, but I did. Sometimes I struck-out, and occassionally I hit a home run. The home runs were a great feeling, and worth the risk.
  • Well done Eric. Nice one. Go for the Shark dive next. Lot's of fun!

  • F.E.A.R. False Evidence Appearing Real

One of the most rewarding sensations is to go to bed having conquered one small fear that day. Accomplishment. And the energy that gets released feeds into the cycle, creating a crush fear momentum.

I believe this is the way to move forward in any endeavour in life.
MLM has given me the tool and the mirror to see my self-imposed limitations that feed on fear.

What a great idea to show us how you faced your fear! I don't want to do a Health Fair in my community because all my friends have rejected my attempts to educate them, but now, maybe I will do it anyway.

Inviting. Once they are around I am good to go. But that phone is like a bees nest. I look at it and my brain inevitibly finds me something else to do that is "important". Got to get by that.
Eric, you are a superfreak. Good job on diving. Think you'll do it again?
  • smreed
Overcoming fears is so liberating. I overcame a fear of snakes I had for most of my life. Not sure exactly when it happened but I know that I started looking at them differently and my fear was gone. I started focusing on the beauty they possessed. Their exotic skin with colours so beautiful. And they seemed to look so peaceful when they were at rest. When they move it is so graceful to me now not scary as it used to seem. I suppose that could be a clue to overcoming a fear....try to look at it with different eyes... and see what happens.

Fear, Fear of missing NMP / 236.
  • Thanks Eric, A great reminder as I work with others who are joining or considering. Our first Event is tomorrow.

    Getting the No's from people
  • BetterCoffee.dk
    Good job Eric! ;)
I myself love diving so I have no idea what your problem is about in that department. :-p

Conversely you may not know how my fear of rejection feels.
I'm working on it, but not as hard as I could.
I guess I've had an easy life so far. I just hate contacting people if I'm uncertain about their reaction.
I don't take "no", ridicule etc very well.
Kinda weird since I've always been a winning type of person.
Or not so weird, since I'm not used to rejection and loosing.

Anyway, it's just something I have to get over!
  • hcapcarp
Fears are crippling in all endeavors. The only antidote for fear is tp walk through them. Every step into the abiss will bring confidence. Eventually, what was a fear becomes a comfort zone, it just takes time, persistance and fortitude.

I love the fact that most of the time a fear has no reasonable fundaments other than what other people tell us or a inner fear to ridiculus... We must be honest... fears in Network Marketing are not a big deal... Overcoming them also help us in many other areas of life... so It's not that bad to face a fear which will end as a stronger capacity or skill which will enhance ourselves. Parachuting, Scuba diving, Safaris... rock climbing... those are real fears... What we are doing to the planet... that's scary! Calling someone to offer an opportunity? come on... it's just a matter of conscious repetition with the goal of getting better... Thank you
  • FrankMarshman
Thank you, that is a good analogy. Fear to pick up a phone??? What can someone you know or don't know do that can cause that much fear?
  • agelfederico
When we conquer or face fear, is when we accomplish great things
  • Art D lasvegas
Faced a huge fear yesterday, I did not run away from it and damned if I don't feel awesome! Thanks Eric.
  • rasdaniels
Regardless of my fears I must face them! Deal with them! Most of the time, the fears are ghosts anyway! Make it happen - I must decide!!!
  • I do not think it is facing fears that works because it causes resistance. It is more like flowing or dancing with them while you act upon them and they fade as they are replaced by experience and knowledge.
  • Daniel Glez.Peña
Hola Eric, I do Scuba diving in Cozumel,Have you ever been there?? It was amazing, it´s a shame that your camera caput. That was one of my fear and after do it, oh gosh i can do whatever i want.

    Saludos.

Thanks for the example! We can all learn to get past the "Fear" the best way is taking one step then another step through it all. Who is the one that said, "Fear is the VIVID imagination of what you DON'T want to have happen. And Dreams are the VIVID imagination of what you DO want to have happen!"?

I guess the common thread is VIVID imagination. The VIVID imagination is going to happen! And YOU get to choose which of the following directions you take... one is the direction of the good you DO want and one is of the bad... Life is much better if you CHOOSE what you DO want!
  • Bjorgli
That was great. Facing the fear make you strong and the fear less. Have a nice and fearless?? weekend all of you!!:=)
  • Oooo! Eric I empathize with you on this. I was terrified when took my first dive down. In fact I panicked and pulled out the mouth piece. How stupid was that ? But I faced my fears and went back again.
And now I can't wait for the opportunity to do it again.

Makes Network marketing seem simple after that????
  • goingpro
Exactly like you said FEAR--False Evidence Appearing Real. ...needs to be dealt with and the best way I found to breakthrough it was to keep my focus on my why. .good clip, wish I could've seen what you saw underwater though..
  • jlconner
Thanks for the message Eric. I am right now having to face a few fears and work through them. Fear of rejection, fear of phone calls and a few others. I will try to work through them because I know that is what I will need to build a big organization. Thanks.
  • TAbrams
The first duty of man is to conquer fear; he must get rid of it, he cannot act till then..

I heard this once and it is so true.

You need to face your fears, take a deep breath, go for it, as after you do you open yourself up to a realm of new limitless possibilities.

Just as you have a list for achieving goals you should list your fears and knock them off one by one.
  • bryantkeefe
Awesome Eric! You did it and inspired me.
  • Thank you for bringing this back to the forefront of my mind. I really like all of the information you share with us, but this is probably the big one for me. Without doing the essentials which are sometimes stopped by fear, nothing else matters. Thanks for everything. Have a great weekend.
  • sometimes overcoming a fear can unlock a passion - for example speaking in front of people - i was petrified and now i love it
  • FrankMarshman
Same thing happened to me, unfortunately I still love to speak in front of people but have very little to say!
  • rasdaniels
I agree 100 %. the same thing happened to me
  • Great advise Eric!
So many things out there that put me in fears, but if you accept the challenge you are not afraid of it anymore. That's how we grow spiritually.
  • gmeyerson
Glad to know I am not the only one that had a fear of scuba diving, but I did get certified, still uneasy about it though, great info, lots of fears to face in this business, but pushing through them one by one
  • rayrios
What a privelage to know that someone as successful as you still have fears. We appreciate the fact that having F.E.A.R is part of the process of Conquest of the unknown success expecting us.

    Thanks, Eric.
  • gkamlm
I have found it very interesting how beautiful things can be when you face your fears and overcome obstacles, just as you did down under.
  • Marion Bernard
To face a fear is the best thing to get over it. It did this espacially today and last night-and felt so good after it.
  • Jessi
Thank you for sharing your fears!
  • hpena
Beth (my fiance) and I just finished recording our video training series for our organization and it was very scary. We had to work ourselves up to being in front of the camera (which we both fear). But now that I see what we created, I'm not that afraid anymore. That's how growth works, live in the uncomfortable until it becomes the comfortable. That's what we do everyday at our jobs anyway, why not here.

So to you Eric, thanks again for what you do and for inspiring us to get out there in front of the world.

Many things that I used to say "I will never do that" are now on my list: Roller coster, bunjee, sky dive. This change came when I came in MLM. I hope to conquer my fears, and those are some of the greatest I have.

One of the easiest ways to deal with the fear is to focus instead on the results you want from life.
Every time you start to think in fear, substitute a dream goal.
And what better dream could we all have than to live the life you have from this incredible industry.
We just need to plug in here every day to get a ' daily dose ' of the rewards that are out there.....
  • Excellent message Eric and love the location. Thanks for sharing with us what we have to look forward to as we grow and become professional in our business. Feel the Fear and Do it ANyway! Great book that I read on this topic.
    Make it a great day!

  • You can't pay for therapy like this!
  • LOL!
  • talya_mitzafon
Dear Eric, your imagination and creativity are probably endless.......

Our fears lie down deep inside of us. We don't see them but they control our life.
Once we looked to the fear in the eyes it's no longer frightning.
  • Your fears are what you make them! Face them, reflect back on them. Every fear you face gets easier and not as scary as you first thought.
  • great to see that adventure and see you face your fears!
  • "Face your fears." GREAT advice. Realize that other people have been in the same boat and come out okay. One thing that can help is to consider what you fear to do "practice". Practice enough times and you'll get better at and more comfortable with what you once feared.

There is a subtle energy help technique which can help people overcome fear. It's called EFT. You could do an Internet search like
    "overcome fear" EFT
and you should get some hits. For many purposes, a person can do EFT on themselves -- whence it's free.

All greatness is achieved while performing outside your comfort zone.
    -Greg Arnold-
  • Hi Rich,
I love EFT. It has had a great impact on my life.
Thanks for sharing that with us all.
    Make it a great day!

Thanks Eric. Fear is truly many, many times is a figment of our imagination. Here is an acronym for fear
F.E.A.R.- False Evidence Appearing Real. Thanks Eric. Right on target.
  • Love it!
  • JenniferDu79
Very cool experience and worth facing you fear for!
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
    Eric, great subject.
My fear is that we will not become as succesfull as we want to become (mmm... sounds a bit strange now) Yes, we have a goal and a dream, and we are working well on it, but like Alex Tita mentioned, it is hard to convince our body/mind to get pass our fear-barrier although we know it is worth the 'pain'. it takes real effort to become NMPro. Therefore we have to consider it as a job, not as a hobby.
  • Lisette
    My fear is high hights.
But I force myself to get up on ladders, out on balconies and so on.

    I am working on it.......

    Have a nice weekend.
  • This is a good show not just for MLM but for life!
  • My biggest obstacle...facing my fears. Once you face them, you realize that it's not so bad after all. Something I tell my kids all the time. Nothing to fear but fear itself. Now if I can just live by that.
  • Erik
    Great show :)
  • brigittapatel
    Great, you faced your fears!
The best way is not to think to much about it and "Just do it'

    Thanks a million.

Facing your fears is the hardest part , thats why goals are so important
  • donham298
    Way to Go Eric.
Facing the fear is what it is all about.
  • so true Eric. I know the feeling of not wanting to face fears when I went snorkeling for first few times (I don't swim particularly well)....but I did it and it got better every day - by day 3 you couldn't get me out of the water. - feel the fear and do it anyway.

Fear is an obstacle and sometimes it can cause regret. My FEAR is Rejection and Failure, I am slowly working on them and at times it not easy.
  • I liked a message from Will Smith saying that he made a decision to attack fear. To take on any fear he had. It's hard to convince your body to get pass the fear barrier but is so worth it.
    Alex Tita
    Here as promised.

    What a great experience.
And just because you face the fear. A friend of mine skydive and invite me to do it with him.
The fear tells me not to do but I´m really curious about the feeling to fly in a parasuit.
My friend says: -You shouldn´t die curoius.
I guess his right about his coward friend, its time to face the fear in the network marketing business right now, the skydive need a better weather i Sweden :-)
    Thanks Eric, great words
  • eabus
Fear can be so paralyzing and in my case although I have confronted
many of them, there is always something new showing up.
I think the magic is in getting used to doing things anyway like...
    Picking up that 400lbs phone.
  • My son was there... I was hoping to see more of the reef! But love how you faced your fear!
  • andreas papakostas
congrats on facing your fear. Great message Eric!
  • "Decide not to let something hold you back from success"...great line.

One thing I learned about facing fear is what to focus on. I learned this from a mentor who said: ” Name it...claim it...then either tame it or flame it.”

I noticed you named what you felt: "Uncomfortable"...”nervous". You then noticed (and claimed) how you react "I could hardly breathe". "My blood was pumping". All these are awareness claims. Feelings you have faced before.

Fear seems to take hold when I focus on the fear and hold still. Who was it? Perhaps it was Eleanor Roosevelt that said something like...”No one can make you a fool unless you allow it”.

I challenge myself to get a new experience. Make one more presentation. Call one more set of contacts. Get out of the comfort zones. Go be a fool. Then I know what that feels like and I find it is OK too. Remembering that, I can put that adrenaline to work, the fear can then be a fuel to acknowledge my feelings and act.
  • Great video Eric! Too bad, didn't get to see more video of you diving. Just have to go there myself! Facing the fear is one of the most important, steps people need to do succeed to in Network Marketing. Facing my fear has been one of the most incredible experiences I have had in business and in my personal life.
  • Feel the fear and do it anyway, title of a great book. How true. The hard part is to continue facing the fear though the first times around things did not go as well as expected. You are not always immediately gratified once you face your fears. But the more you face them the more you get over them.
  • You're right Loretta. FEAR is an intangible obstacle.
  • Overcoming your fears makes you stronger. Build on your victories!
  • There have been too many times in the past where I was afraid to do something, never did it and now I regret it.
    You only live once..
  • rasdaniels
    great words of wisdom
  • Hi Eric! Facing your fears, what a great subject! When I first started in networkmarketing i immediately understood that I had to face my fears. Fear No 1: Calling my prospects. I hated it in the beginning, not because it was unpleasant talking to them, but I was so nervous! But I did it anyway. Now 2 months later I don't hate it but I don't love it either - But I'm getting there. And it feels so good afterwards when I've done it despite of my fear. Fear No 2: Sharing my story on the swedish live online-webcasts. I feared it at the same time as I desired it. I wanted to do it, to share my story, to step up for the team and contribute - But I was nervous and a little afraid. But I did it anyway - Very nervoud in the beginning but it's getting better and better every day and I'm really starting to enjoy it! So Face YOUR FEARS and challenge yourself and you will be so proud of yourself! / Linda, Sweden
  • Gakungu
You need to face the fear of rejection. Do not let your fears handle you, handle them instead by facing them. And take rejections as vitamins so that they keep you going. Yes is the destination, no is how you get there.
  • carolbarrett
Eric I'm jealous. I'm an avid diver and The Great Barrier reef is on my "have to do" list. Great topic today--facing your fears. I've been putting off "telephone prospecting" lately because of fear. If Eric can dive the reef, deadly jelly fish and all--then I can make some phone calls.
  • gillym1
Hi Eric Feel the fear and do it anyway! If we, as leaders can't do it - how can we expect our teams to?
    Thanks again!
  • Nancy Eldred
A great way to teach a lesson on facing our fears -
MY FEAR In the NM Business is
    - to COMPLETELY 100% get over the fear on taking rejection personally on the product or the business opportunity -

It all comes down to confidence. Increasing my skill level - Getting better on what words to say, not talking so much and listening more, objection handling etc .
  • FEAR an intangible obstacle that stops me so many times. I always make it worse than it really turns out to be. The more I face my fears the better I become at overcoming them.
    Thanks, Eric.
  • yuvalcohen
    Hey Eric
Coping with fears. Leads us to be great leaders.
Since we do something that others will not do.
    It's out to help comfort
  • What an experience that must have been!
Well, that's what makes you a leader. How can we not try to face our fears too if you are doing it yourself.
    Great job my friend.
I have fears too, but I'm afraid to list them here... haha!
  • frankdiaz
great piece !!! fear is what holds many from creating a better version of them self.......and "FEAR" is all and ILLUSION!!!!!
  • Great way to make a point! Once in my life I had to face the exact same fear and I even ended up swiming with whale sharks :S

About the business, I think I need to face every fear every day (call, doing presentations, getting to the top, not getting to the top, etc) but every day that I step forward and do the actions necessary to overcome the fear, I get better in handling it.

Once you said that action makes the fear go away! And that thought is tatooed in my mind since then!

Thanks Eric and keep enjoying your trip.

I would like to share a video that I love, about overcomming your fears! Hope you like it!

Wow! clear message here. Dive in and see more of life. You did it Eric!

Feel the fear and do it anyway! Fear has held back so many people who could have been a great success! Many years ago back in 2000 I met a girl who was a skydiver. Keep in mind that I am extremely scared of heights. She wanted me to go with her. I didn't want her to think that I was a sissy, therefore, I decided to go. I was scared out of my mind. However, I did the unthinkable. I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane. I will say that this was the single most fullfilling event of my life. Facing my fear and doing it anyway. Calling people and facing rejection is a piece of cake! Look at what your outcome will be. Financial freedom for the rest of your life.
  • Congratulations to you! I think I'd have a difficult time facing the diving fear as well. However, in other settings -- on land - I'm pretty good with facing my fears. I learned to face them easily from the many instances where the choice was either face my fears or continue on a dreadfully awful path.

it's true, if you do something what you fear a few times you even start to enjoy it:)
  • billrogers
I have never encountered a fear that ended up being even 1/4 of what I had anticipated.
In sales and marketing the biggest fear to me is the fear of rejection and even though I have been in sales and marketing for many years and have learned the law of averages, to this day I still work on keeping my fear in check.
  • MagnusEdvald
Good reminder, face them and deal with them. Then move on free from fears.
  • One of my biggest fears is rejection....which I'm working through beautifully, by getting rejected on a daily basis. Then I move onto the next one. Congratulations Eric for facing your fear. I would have been more afraid of Great Whites!
  • germanjaramillo
Wooo, Well ... I did remember one day I had to cross a tightrope over 30 meters high or the first time I jumped into a river from a rock about 20 meters. I must confess that in both cases felt scared. It was something dramatic to me. However, the good news is. After I did it once, I could do many more times with excellent results.

Like I did in my business. 6 years when I started in MLM, it took me significant time to do my first meeting at home in front of my guests. It was always supported by my Upline. One day he did not supported me and from there I could make many times, not only at my home, in my friends house too.
  • carybennett
Good times, and a great lesson, Going to face some fears today for sure, and that was just more encouragement. Thanks Eric
  • I know what is gonna scared the .ell out of me next week. You gonna beat me up my friend...for sure....LOL. BUT....I'll be there with you in SF...Have a nice weekend and see you in a couple of days. Best regards from your biggest fan.

Technology doesn't always work! I think it's great that you faced your fear, I'm overcoming mine on this end :)
  • Ton Oosterwijk
No progress without friction, I guess.
    Fear is an interesting thing.
On the subject: Eric's recommendation to read the 50th law is a good tip.
It puts the finger on fear and places in a perspective.
Gave me good understanding about braking with limiting believes and facing fear.
"Facing" I have found, is also a very individual perception. Same as "Fear"
    Interesting stuff.
  • kamalharris
I was looking forward to the footage - where are the sharks :-)? Fear is DEFINITELY mental. How is it that one person can so readily do something and another is terrified? It's all conjured up in the mind. I jumped out of a plane about 15 years ago. Talk about "Anticipated Fear". But you know what? The second the and instructor and me were out of that door, so was all the fear. By then, I was committed - no turning back.
  • ritafulton
    Gosh Eric,

Facing your fears..I just recently was involved in a training event where we listed down 10 things we most wanted to do (other than work) and were afraid to "even try"..diving the Great Barrier Reff area one of top 2 things..you did it!! I have it on my list to be done by end of this year. Better start rehearsing more on events and at events!!

    AWESOME!!
  • hlj521
Brought me to tears... I love that you are our leader in our great company and I love to see that even you have fears. I sometimes let myself get locked up by my fears knowing deep down that I am a true leader but have yet to face some hurdles. THANK YOU ERIC for your awesome leadership and the fact that you lead by example!!!
  • great lesson on facing your fears. fun episode to watch, i like it when you go on your travels and take us along. it feeds the dream! I intend to travel the world building a business and do a video blog someday too. Already have a cool name for it too, it'll be HomeOfficeTV.com. That's a dream I did not have prior to Network Marketing Pro.
    Much love!

Kevin Hall in his book, Aspire, talks about the importance of getting out of your comfort zone, exploring some new horizons that may allow you to fully realize your true potential.
    Thanks Eric,
    Fernando.
  • Maybe this will help you guys also. Here's a nugget that has really helped me in my personal growth. I was at a Leadership Seminar and the speaker said, "You have to be willing to be bad before you're good and good before you're great." That has now become a part of my philosophy. Face your fears!
  • Agree. So, this is be one of the reason why some people not stepping out their comfort zone... fear?
  • Illustrates the point well, had you done Scuba before Eric?
  • bernadette
It is great to find a leader if they are also teachable, but anyone can become a leader through personal growth. Thanks Eric. Glad you are enjoying your trip!
