Oh how I wish I could write a book.
  • incredible story about Larry King... Just finished Og Mandino's best seller and he mentions the effects of Rich DeVos's testimonial on his book sales...
Interesting how thinks can turn.... and from were it can come from...

What can I do for you ? A classic ,practical tool to help all of us contribute more to society.
  • Still catching up....going to skip ahead to the Complete & Unedited version....but wanted to make sure my comment was counted! ;-)
  • dterrell
I love it but after asking the question what can I do for you remember not to expect anything in return. That is such a powerful lesson.
  • Dylan Cooper
Yes, ask "How can I serve you better?" rather than "What can I get?"
  • Please Eric, except for putting my comment down here: What can I do for you?
  • Every truly successful person I have met in this industry has a giving philosophy...How Can I Help YOU
  • AdvocareJax
How can I help you is an amazing question. I must use that to continue to develop my servant heart.
  • meagankellytorres
Helping others unconditionally. A core value that I intend to live by. If you remove yourself from the picture and just focus on others and what you can do for them, there is no way you could feel rejected or afraid.
  • Donna Wheaton
"How can I help You" and dont expect anything from them other than a new friend. I love making friends, but I love this concept.
  • Lotta
What can I do for you? That I will take whit me from this lesson.
  • jbledsoejr
Parents!!! Harvey's father seems to have taught him lesson after lesson...I am a parent of 3 (under 10 years old) and this stuff is HUGE for me! Thanks Harvey!!!
  • What can I do for you? Unconditionally - never expect anything in return - it just feels good.
  • This mindset really turns the weel around. What can I do for you today?
Also, it totally and completely puts me in charge of my actions, since I'm the one offering, I can choose.
It cuts the emotional bonds and sets me free to ride the wave.

I'm doing this in my business, outside MLM. I'm offering sessions and trainings to my friends, free of charge. And they're coming back as customers and telling others to come as well. It is the best way to start afresh.

Thanks Eric and Harvey. You did something for me today!

    NOTES:
What Can I Do For You?
Doing business and building up your network... there's people that you take years before you can ask something out of them...
How am I going to meet Larry King and get on his TV show?
I missed him, but after a few minutes he offered me a ride on his limmo... Jump in. 300'' to get into Larry King: What Can I do For Larry King?
When we got to the hotel we talked for more 15 minutes and the week after I was in Larry King.
"What can I do for you?" "How can I help you?" It makes me want to do everything for you.
That's a mindset totally different form the predator mentallity.
My father lived like a millionaire without ever making 10,000U$/year, out of his contacts and relationships.
After you say that sentence, you can't ever wait anything in response.
  • orlyalbo
Every day iunderstand that our MLM is no about making money, it's about changing our own lives and helping other people all over the world.
  • happyhealthybob
I just added the books to my wish list, i have heard that question from so many people, and i think that i have thought that i can not help anyone, being a poor college kid, but i think that i need to get past that. Thanks for the story.
  • cherisizzles
I LOVE hearing people's life-changing stories. An opportunity to get on Larry King to advertise his book, that is awesome!! Talk about your 60 second commercial! :) Great advice, not to talk about how great YOU are or how great HE is ... but "what can I do for Larry King?" WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU? Eric is so right, that it is such a different approach than the predatory network marketers out there who are only focused on what everyone can do for THEM!
  • abdul
why can't I get videos after Feb 22. Is there any technical problem?
  • DianaValdez
What can I do for you? How can I help you? It make the person want to help you too and keeps the stress out from you. It's more stresful to think how to ask someone to help me than start backwards, it just opens the dorr. Very good one!
  • ronaldvandomburg
this is cool stuff: give first.... is the basic principle of BNI and i start realising now how valuable that is
  • jeanalbert
That one phrase says it all! "What can I do for you?" So simple... so powerful.
  • Cindy Dower
I believe we "get paid" in life proportionately in return for the service that we provide to others. Hey Eric and Harvey...is there anything that I can do for you?
  • Unconditional service to others....a great lesson!
  • Damijan81
2 points i got from this show was:
    1. What can i do for you? That is a very powerful question, just thinking about the implications that could have on my business really gets me thinking.

    2. Be prepared, all be prepared for any situation.
  • raybeattie
Reminded me to reevaluate my time and see where I can be a service to others.
  • timandtricia
The idea of "what can I do for you" is fundamental to success in our business. Very similar concepts to Bob Burg's Endless Referral ideas. Sounds like Bob may have learned it from Mr. Mackey.
  • Shovers
What can I do for you/ What a concept. How that would change the world if everyone did that, and without expecting anything in return. I will try to live my life by this rinciple.
  • "What Can I Do For You" - becomes powerful when you say it "unconditionally"
  • Lorraine
I love the story. He was prepared for the encounter. Great lesson
  • dstfa96
This was a great story...I definitely agree that when we do something for people we have to do it from the kindness of our hearts and not expect anything in return...I plan to incorporate the "what can I do for you" mentality from this day forward and it would be awesome if my entire team does the same!
  • Wow, what a story!
What can i do for YOU?
This sentence is one of best!
  • Bea Resnick
I LOVE that story! The best!
  • juanfernandogutierrez
What can i do for you.... these are powerfull words
  • Veronica
WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU!!! AND NEVER EXPECT SOMETHING BACK!!! WHEN U KNOW HOW TO APPROACH A PERSON, AND BREACK THE ICE WHILE DOING SOMTHING FOR THEM, IT WILL INSTANLY MAKE THEM WANT TO DO SOMETHING BACK FOR YOU!!
  • Amazing short and sweet
That is one saying that will have to go up on my wall
What can i do for you
  • crwood1967
"Swim with the Sharks" one of the greatest books of all time! How many of those chance encounters do we miss out on? Isn't that true how most of us want to crame our company down the new persons throat, yet we should be looking at how we can help the other people. Thanks for the info!
  • kgadol
It IS about helping others ... and we learn and grow in the process. Such a blessing to be in a position to bless others - and we all are. Love it.
  • robbinsaturniewicz
Change mindset to What Can I do for You and not expect anything in return.
  • Pepeneto
Small talk until I figure out what Can I do for you. Not how good I am, not how good you are.
  • alltheverybest
WCIDFY - Brilliant concept - Classic Dale Carnegie too.
  • Inger
Always think about what can you can do for somebody else! "What can I do for you?" Great!!!
  • CarlosVera
Simple, but such a strong advice.....................We should make it our philosophy of life............
  • Bernadette
That is a great philosophy to life by. What can I do for you?
  • jean_albert
Great lesson - "What can I do for you?"
  • This is such a profound statement that its a real global attitude changer!!
  • Jessi

  • tommycone
#247 - I love this statement " What Can I Do for You". This is a great way to go through life and not expect anything in return.
  • mrmauriocrawford
OMG...SO GREAT!!! This guy is like nobody I've ever seen. Most people, including myself, do things for people expecting something in return. But I've desperately got to change my mindset.

It's like something the bible teaches....FAVOR. Favor (which is of God) with people can take you so very far. GREAT POST ERIC.
  • mspaulamc
THIS is a KEEPER - have it starred and asterisked everywhere .. I am suggesting to everyone who wants to succeed in the people business to watch this episode and take it to heart, watch it several times .. get it ...

P-O-W-E-R-F-U-L... Harvey's father was a hero in his own right .. WOW :)

Keep practicing that golf game Eric (that was a great part) FUN!
  • JenniferDu79
The key is not always asking what can I do for you but like he said with Larry King he thought it and then asked a question with a thought of helping him sell books because he knew he could help him with that. Sometimes if people are of higher influence than you they may tune you out or assume you can't help them and that is why already having a sort of plan to help them may be a better strategy.
  • Agneta Rebo
What can I do for you - powerful/wonderful words!!
  • This is an Ah Ha! moment. "What can I do for you"
  • Irina
"What can I do for you?" Powerful words.
  • gjt
key is to look them in the eye and not expect anything from them after you helped them
  • lynnhall
What can I do for you? Great words, I will practice and use this.
  • rayrios
"What can I do for you" ; has help me change the perspective and attitude of serveral of my team members. Truely true!
  • karenandian
What can I do your you? What powerful words - the more powerful message here is - "Not to expect something in return!!!" Thank you Mr. MacKay. This is the 2nd part of our contact information!!!
  • What a great industry where to be successful you "give more than you get". The world would be a better place if we were all part of someone's downline, right?
  • turjcxg
Those are fantastic words. What a valuable lesson.
  • travelprohawaii
I have been living "What can I do for you?" but I never knew that I could use it in business. Thanks I now can keep living that philosophy even with network-marketing where I thought it had to be "How can I get them to join?"
  • Imagine our world if we all live by - what can i do for you...
  • julie67
What can I do for you? I am committed to live with this mind set from now on. It will make us all better people.
  • onemartymac
You never know who you are going to meet, always be prepared.
  • Donna Wheaton
The most important words " What can I do for you?" Its all about getting yourself out of the way and finding out what you can do for the person your talking.
  • Stephen
There is nothing I can say except wonderful.
  • "What can I do for you?" That's the philosophy.

Hit the ball, drag Eric LOL
  • jpmendoza
I truly enjoy the stories behind his respones. I will work on this posture of "What can I do for you"
  • This gentleman is fascinating. Notice that most of his responses to your questions are stories?

It's true, when I wanted so badly to find someone to hear my story, I didn't develop the level of concern for others he exhibits. It seemed that many were simply sharing their own war stories and comiserating (note root word of that: misery). When I experienced someone who did take the posture of "What can I do for YOU", it lifted me. Took a while to learn that when I took that posture with others, it lifted me higher (wasn't my goal, but it did occur). I do experience the value in their increased comfort/ in working through their situation.
I also learned to pace. I found that it is important to balance that with taking care of myself so that I can help others.
  • gloriavintila
I also see it reversed by putting myself in my prospects shoes. The prospect would think: "What's in it for me?" In that way, we prove that we are not chasing prospect, we aren't needy.
  • agelfederico
I am already putting this in practice, starting yesterday, thank you very much.
  • Luis (Pelon)
Hope I can help a loat of people.
  • gkamlm
Great story about Larry King and "What can I do for you?"
  • Bryan_in_KC
Said many times..."You'll never get what you want until you help enough people get what they want."
  • fc34615
    Inspiring and incredibly powerful.
    Thanks, Eric.
  • krisic
Oh I love this! I want to build good solid relationships, this is a GREAT stepping stone to do so. Awesome!
  • gabisahar
    Hi Eric,
I got it, so, what can I do for you?
    Thanks a lot?
    Gabi
  • What a beautiful story share with all of us.
I love Harvey’s frequent reference to his father. I often find myself telling a story about my dad and the advice he offered to me as a young man. I would like to think that “What can I do for you” has been a natural part of my selling success, but with this story and interview, it is now tattooed on my frontal lobes. It is a foundational thought, and principal, to help achieve one’s dreams.
  • What can I do for you......is from now on in my vocabulary...
  • pech
"What can I do for you?" is a great question, which also shifts the focus from youself to the another person.
  • annenz
I love "what can I do for you" a different perspective. Wow thank you.
  • Paco_Carreno
OMG... Glory Moments! We must be focused daily... I must confess I have a long way in front of me because I would have done the option of telling Larry how good he is... But I love the most powerful approach I've listened "What can I do for you?" Thank you... Mindset of a successful man is being ready to serve... Now I remember the concept that I usually listen to J Rohn quoting Zig Ziglar (I guess to remember): If you help a thousand people to solve their problems, yours disappear... Or the idea of "You can help a thousand but you can't carry on three"... All this philisophies show us coherence with a "What can I do for you?" first introduction. Thank you thank you thank you.
  • Ria Leermakers
What a vision! Thanks for sharing.
  • You never know what can happen when you meet someone new. Treat everyone the same and treat everyone well. One relationship can be worth a million as in Harvey's case with the sales of his book.
  • Great stuff... we all do it by supporting our downline, but saying "what can I do for you" makes it even go farther!
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
Can a chance meeting change your life? Yes - indeed so. And in the world of coincidence the most amazing things happen.

To reinforce those six most valuable words I'm writing them here .... "What can I do for YOU". Great stories - loved the Larry King never-been-told-before story!

And 'personal development' is now, I would suggest, ready for mainstream ... especially in UK. Wonderful stuff - and the real friendship between Harvey & Eric shows through.

    Thanks again Eric.
  • veronikakari
It is very important "what can I do for you", but you really have to mean it and really at least try hard to put yourself into the other persoin shoes and think from their perspective, not yours. Many people think they know what is for you good.
  • eugenejohnson
Again Wow.....What can i do for u ?....wow this guy is good stuff!!
  • Lisette
Thank you Eric, för giving us this opportunity to meet this amazing people, that you know.
  • brianhepner
When trying to learn the meaning of a great life I came to the conclusion that it was.... Growing and Giving.... Maybe I have been backwards and it is Giving and Growing.... I like it.
  • Episode 38 of Eric Worre's 100 Episode Throw Down Chalenge:

What an Episode! What Can I Do For You... Simple, elegant and underused. Right up there with thank you and please. Thank you for the reminder to keep a servant heart in this business to become and stay successful.
  • darnell
Incredible to hear Mr. Mackay share what he learned from a early age from his father the importance of servitude to others that leads to success in life and in business!! When a chance moment like this occurs boy oh boy one has to be ready and prepared to say and do the right thing yet make it seem natural. Looking 4ward to the next video and thank you once again!!
  • MattinJaxfl
Great segment. "What can I do for Larry King?" Priceless mindset. Never expect anything in return makes it even better.
  • Thanks a fantastic message and lesson. It is a philosophy I have come to know and live by for many years now. What can I do for you? How can I help you? How can I be of service to you? with no expectation of return in mind... When you get that right, your world will change and explode into greatness!
Thanks again for sharing this Eric and Harvey!
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed
  • hcapcarp
This idea has been a blessing in my life.
  • Eric, A great question. Harvey said that he had to ask himself what he could do for Larry and once he knew that answer than he could move forward with his question/statement of "What can I do for you?" We have a better way so isn't that our answer as to What we can do for others?
  • chriskemp817
"What can I do for you?" What a wonderful philosophy! Harvey Mackay really seems like a genuine good person. It is so refreshing to see a successful person be REAL! You can tell Mr. Mackay really admired his dad.
  • Dave S
Blessed are those who give to others.
  • Arnold Thompson
It's important to be a giver and not a taker
  • HoracioMejia
The "What can I do for you?" philosophy joined with a look in the eyes is like a master key. It opens all doors. It brings you relationships, not just acquaintances. Professionals build relationships.
  • Ellis3
Hey Eric ... Hey Harvey! What can I do for you?!!!
  • Awesome story. Great lesson.
  • Thanks for sharing the story. (What can I do for you?)
  • Steve_Nelson
VERY POWERFUL ADVICE from Mr. Mackay. I'm not taking anything away from Harvey, but what an amazing father he had...the wisdom. I will adopt that mindset and make it my own
  • I never imagined that, through Network Marketing, I would get to know about so many amazing people. Thank you for sharing. What a privilege!
  • susanclark
#247 - Harvey Mackay Interview 2 of 5 - Harvey's father taught him to ask people, "What can I do for you?" And, he meant it. He does this with never expecting anything in return - makes you feel really good inside. He said his father never made $10,000 in a year, but he lived like a millionaire. Great way to live!
  • bethascoli
I LOVE this story...once again, proof that successful people are good storytellers. The other main point that is constantly reinforced is caring about and helping others. There is so much value in this interview, I'm excited to read Mr Mackay's books (all of them)!
  • nelleke
This is about one of the essentials in life, helping people without expecting something back. Then one day it all flows back to you. We are so used to give and expect something in return. This feels much greater and better. Great lesson again.
  • drmikempa
High quality videos. Very, very good.
  • hillin
"You will get all you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want". Zig Ziglar
  • ritafulton
I beleive you can sum this epidsode up with "reaping and sowing"..somewhere there is a book that is some 2000+ years old ..that teahes this .///

    Thank you
  • ritafulton
    Eric,

I have already responded to this "episode"; however, did not want to not share my most recent opportunity to use.."what can I do for YOU?" nugget shared..I used this "nugget" with some "high school" graduates" recently; and you would not believe the results that I got from this "little experiment"..; I am in such an "alien" environment" for a "charity" type event" and am "surrounded" by "these ""teenie boppers" you would not believe; however, I used Harvey's "what can I do for You"..I am now their biggest fan and they actually pay attention. AWESOME..I think this can only be the "Ultimate" test!!s

    Thank You
  • mariasiro
of course, thats right... what can I do for you...
  • jlconner
This is really good. What can I do for you? I think the real action is to not expect anything in return.
  • Great advice! In this industry, we mostly think about what can I do for myself instead of building relationships and helping others first.
  • Daniel Glez.Peña
Hola Eric I think there a re very important questions to help people.
    Saludos.Daniel y Natali, Querétaro,México.
  • These videos keep getting better and this one in particular is worth watching over and over - thank you!
  • Guest
once again we hear the power of a story. the number of minutes stated in seconds for more impact. sounds like he had a wise father.
  • jennyc
    Very inspiring!!
  • keithraines
How can someone refuse or reject and offer like what can I do for you or how can I help you?
  • Six of the greatest words like that is really phenominal in today's society. I presently use "How can I help you" as well and you and Harvey are right it will make all the difference in the world to your life. Good Stuff.
  • "What can I do for you" - five little words that when said from the heart will change our lives. And said with no expectation of something in return. Very powerful to live this way every day in all circumstances.
  • I cannot wait to hear "the rest of the story". His father did not make his $10,000 a year dream, but Mr. Mackay, I believe, has reached his dreams and more. So what is the secret? Most likely it is in front of our eyes but most (like me) are just blind to it. What can I do for you and not expect anything back? How easy (or hard) is that? I had period in my life where I was doing a lot for the people around me and never expected anything back. But it seems since I did not want a reward or recognition then, I tend to refuse them even now. Maybe that is the secret, do not refuse what comes back, even if you did not expect it or want it.
  • patrickmcfeely
What a great day, what can I do for you?
Thank you for your time Eric.
  • Great interview! When you help enough people succeed, you automatically succeed. It think that is what Harvey's philosophy is all about when he asks other people what he can do for them!

Sorry about your golf game Eric! :)
  • carybennett
More great nuggets thanks cant wait til tmrw
  • Pete
In today's society, it's a seldom thought of philosophy. To not expect anything in return is even more rare.
  • gmeyerson
what can I do for you, great line, I will try this immediately and pass on to my team
  • What can I do for you? What a great focus to have. And like Mr. Mackay says at the end, you have to want to help someone. It must be genuine in order to get the kind of results he has created.
  • racingworm
What can I do for you? This is actually a phrase I use when I call someone about our business. It 's really surprising the effect that little phrase has on people. They are so used to someone trying to sell them something that it catches them off guard and they really don't know what to say. Lots of times i'll have people just go " uh, well,uh gee ,uh ---. Fantastic interview you have going here Eric, and oh, by the way, "What can I do for you?"
  • christinaglazar
Never expect something in return is so true - and you end up with getting something in return. I build a reputation of honesty and kindness among my peers where I live and I think that is a wonderful reward in itself for trying to help others.

    Thank you for todays clip!
  • Jeroen Lingier
I think his father was a inspirational person as well.
Great idea of thinking what can I do for you+ don't expect something in return.
A lot of people start talking about themself or about how good the other is, not to mention the 'you know' game.
    Great stuff! Thanks for it!
    Greetings,
    Jeroen from Flanders, Belgium.
  • barryburgin77
Hey Eric, Thats a great lookin' watch (timepiece) you're wearing!! Seriously, I am going to use Mr. Mackay's phrase immediately. And I am ordering his book today!
  • MarvinTowler
"What can I do for you?" "How can I be of service?" "How can I serve today?" are all great "heart-sets" to live from.
  • BetterCoffee.dk
    Just beautiful!
What can I do for you?!
A NM millionaire is someone with a million friends!
People join your business because they know you, they like you and they trust you.

It seems like everyone is saying the same thing!
If you want to do well in business, be a nice person! :-)

    I CAN DO THAT!

    :-)
  • quintaser
How important is to keep in mind, that this work is no about making money, it's about changing our own lives helping hundreds or even thousands to do the same. Eric, even I am sure you have incredible goals in MLM, you have no idea how far you will get, you are amazing.

From Puebla Mexico, I am Sergio Quintana, MLM Pro
  • "What can I do for You". This is a great way to treat everybody you come in contact with. Even the ones you will not work with in you business.
  • brigittapatel
    Brilliant!
What can I do for you and truly not expect anything in return.....

    Thanks a million
  • gillym1
So right - the words of wisdom just keep on coming! Thanks again Eric!
  • ybimbalanced
I love that! What can I do for you? He's so correct, most would either start talking about themselves, or start flattering him. Our first thought should always be, how can I be of assistance? Great advice, thanks
  • Eric and Harvey - You are the best! What an amazing tip, "What can I do for you" . Giving for giving, not giving for receiving - So great, thank you! / Linda, Sweden
  • pollyhulseman
    This is so inspirational!
  • rasdaniels
"What can I do for you"? or "How can I help you?" say without expecting something in return. What an upbringing Harvey Mackay had - what a wise father.
  • bartonmurray
Great to see Harvey-read everything he's done. Just great information, simple effective and realistic.
  • Great words "What Can I Do For You?"

Eric what can we do for you?
  • dougharkins
    Great information, humble but powerful!
  • keep it real, build realationships and always give more of yourself then the cash value you would get back.
  • quincy
This is great advice that I think we know but just dont exercise. "What can I do for YOU?" When people only really care about thenselves andtheir business thinking, "what's in it for me?" Why not ask what we can do for them. Making OUR business, PEOPLE.
  • I don't think this is every going to completely go away, because it works. We have been hearing a lot recently about how to build your BRAND, basically how to build the image. Now we have someone like Mr. Mackay who bring us RIGHT back to he old truth and shows us how to build your SUBSTANCE. I think from this website, we're going to bring people back around to the truth about how to get people to emphasize SINCERITY and SUBSTANCE in their personal and business life again, so that self-improvement will no longer be an afterthought, but a mainstream value in our modern culture.
  • Awesome! Its a blessing to have people like Harvey Mackay in this world!
  • A powerful phrase indeed once you think about it. My first thought was Eric, "How can I help you" ;) My Second was Randy ;) "How can I help you" ;) This has really lit a spark in my mind today, and a smile on my face as I think about it. -d-
  • Amazing! I look forward to the whole video.
  • liora
    B"H
Powerful Words "What can I do for You?"
  • timandtricia
Being of service is the foundation of our business philosophy. This phrase sums it up pretty well.
  • Love the concept!
  • I would of loved to have met Mr. Mackay's father.
He sounded like a wonderful human being.
The tips I'm getting from the Mackay Interviews are very useful for me.
    Thank you!

Absolutely loved this one. I used to use that phrase all the time in my last job as an Account Executive..but haven't been thinking along those lines in this new career. Now, to be creative and find ways to help others without expecting anything in return...uhmmmmmm

The greatest coaches I ever met in athletics were always focused on the How and What to enable the athelete to reach higher performance levels that the athelete so desired...so too is out business.....

Hey Eric Awesome to meet u in SF.......thanks for all you do!!!!
  • This interview has started off great. I can't wait to see the rest of it. That is a concept that I have heard quite a bit, but I really liked the way he explained it through his story.
  • The person that does not expect anything in return, is the winner in the end.
  • smreed
Pretty amazing philosophy to live by "What can I do for you?!".
  • tonylogue
Part 2 even better than Part 1. Great once again.

Wow, what can I do for you? What a concept.

Sadly though, in today's society of pessimism and doubt, even when you are reaching out a hand to help, it can be mistaken for manipulation or greed.

Great to be reminded though to keep it up.

    Thanks again....Tony
  • ericworre
And part 3 gets even better. :)
  • Foord Yates
    Even better!
  • Love the Larry King story. It was in his book, dig your well before you need it. Good stuff and i am loving this!
  • This is where so many marketers, especially network marketers, are clueless when it comes to their business, especially now with all our social media platforms.

You don't build a network by screaming your opportunity through a bull-horn. You help people first by asking, "What can I do for you?"
  • kristibateman
Awesome. What can I do for you?
    Thank you
  • PaulineP
Thank you for this interview. Harvey MacKay's business thoughts are an echo of what my beutiful mother once said, Help because you want to, and DO NOT expect or ask for a thank you.
Great interview and a humbling one as well.....
  • MagnusEdvald
It is such a good story. Powerful lesson.
  • germanjaramillo
Wooo againg... what a great interview!!!! I'm very surprised and happy to watch this second part.

What can i do for you? and ....never expect something in return when help anybody.

    All have a great day..

  • dlinkhart
That should be everyone's philosophy of life! How can I help you?
  • Harvey Mackay's success in life is a tribute to his philosphy:
What can I do for you? Maybe more important is the second part - NOT you owe me one.
He is also a great story teller and Eric a great listener.

All Networking skills and often the opposite of what we practice.
  • denisekay
"What can I do for you" with a mindset of planing to exceed their expectations. I'm on fire!
  • I really liked the story of Larry King, great example of how to network professionally. All these interviews proves you are well connected and respected by a lot of people Eric! way to go!
  • genegrass
Great lessons. Be of service and expect nothing in return!
Thank you Mr. Mackay and Eric!

"What can I do for you?"
  • Ngoc Tran
What a great clip with 6 golden words What Can I Do For You in NM and so many lessons included - listening, story telling, and building relationship. So wonderful, Eric. I love it!
  • Awesome advice! What can I do for you? How can I help you? I'll remember that.
  • Denise Cox
wow! i loved this episode. it's validating and inspiring! can't wait for tomorrow!
  • The Go-Giver philosophy is a great one! You can never go wrong with the attitude of serving others. That is what does and will make this a great world!
  • tonylogue
    FYI.

For whatever reason the link to your blog page in the posted comment brings up a "page not found". May want to check your settings with DiscQus.

    Tony Logue
  • Excellent philosophy .... it's all about providing value FIRST in any relationship you begin, and these 6 words are a simple way to keep that in mind.

    Thanks - great clip.

    Best,
    Scott

What can I do for Eric Worre?
  • ericworre
Help spread the word my friend! :)
  • "What can I do for you" and not expecting anything in return, will also help me eliminate my fears...just looking at my business from a different approach !
  • Nancy Eldred
WOW .... Harvey's dad was one smart man - I see the apple hasn't fallen far from the tree ..

    THANKS GUYS !!!
  • drpricedc
What can I do for you? If you genuinely come from this place, and serve for the sake of service....while keeping your ultimate goal in life in mind, your ultimate lifestyle and ultimate end results (aka your ideal scene)....then you can have everything that you want. Wallace Wattles said something to the effect of your opportunities will come to you (to achieve your vision) in the form of people seeking out something to help them acheive their vision. You need to be willing and able to give more in that exchange than what you are asking for, so that the exchange is an increase in value for your life and journey as well as the person that you came across. By asking..."what can I do for you" and meaning it, with no expectations of returns, the universe will unfold its plans and gifts will begin to flood our lives. If we serve for the sake of serving, then we have no fear, because if serving is what we desire to do, we can always do that, and where there is no fear with clear vision, clear intention, and clear action.....miracles happen.

    Thanks Eric, great stuff!
  • Felix Lopera
This aproach is so great that if we all did adress every one we meet on everyday basis, with this beautiful statement, we would change the rusted paradigm that Networkmarketing is about selling to the fact that it is about serving and helping others.
  • kgoren
How interesting that I was just talking to someone about this very subject this morning. Talking to and meeting people, helping them first....then maybe later, when the time is right, talking to them about your business. "What can you do for them?" Builing that "rolodex" of people you meet every day.
  • soxfan071
Helping others and expecting nothing in return is the main reason for my success in other areas of my life. I have received many gifts from this way of life. The relationships I have with the people in my life today are lasting ones as a direct result of not expecting someting in return.
    Rock On!
  • "What can I do for you?" ... "How may I be of service?" ... "How can I help you?"

If I could have chosen where to be born it would have been where two guys like you grew up and live...

I did. There is something about the land of 10,000+ lakes where so many people come from this place Harvey is speaking of. Thank you for sharing the best lesson and reason to visit home soon.
  • bryantkeefe
What can I do for you? What a wonderful world if we all did this with all our encounters. Today I will ask "What can I do for you?"....Sweet bits Eric!
  • FrankMarshman
As a student of these programs this is wonderful advice. Having owned a business for 40 years part of what my customer approach has always been "How may I be of service to you?" "What can I do for you?" This is translating into my network marketing business because it takes my eyes off me as a potential sponsor and puts them onto the other person so I must find his needs and, if my business will help fill those needs, I will help him.
  • hpena
    2 valuable lessons:

    1. "What can I do for you" is a life changing philosophy.

    2. Eric is a great LISTENER, this is a lost art form and everyone should study how he was listening to Harvey tell his story. Don't underestimate how much people want to be heard.

    Nando
  • That was a great observation Nando. He does listen intently!
  • Yep! My feeling proved right. Actually i'm not sure that it was my feeling but Mr Mackay attitude. Fired Up and focused.
    Alex Tita
    here as promised.
  • Fascinating story with a powerful theme. Although I've heard many dynamic interviews on this site, this is definitely among my favorites. Thanks Eric!
  • The longer it takes, the more the puzzle completes. Love Mr MacKay's attitude, what a king he is. Thanks for sharing his story Eric. Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • emmettb
Don't expect anythig in return. That one thought if taught to people would change the world.
  • "What can I do for you?" No expectation as to getting anything in return..what sage advice! Thanks for that!
  • billrogers
Wow! How Simple. I have been in sales 30+years and today have a new approach that I have missed all these years. " What can I do for you?" Such a powerful and servant way to approach someone.
    Thanks a bunch!

Very simple message. Very different message from corporate America on cutting and treating people like a piece of machinery.
"What can I do for you?" without expecting anything back.
  • Cee_G
Wow...how simple, yet powerful. We are here to serve. I am going to use this today! Thank you Eric and Harvey!
  • hlj521
AWESOME! What can I do for you? Love it! Thank you for this interview.
  • Mailen
Ja, jeg liker det Harvay snakker om. Gi og ikke forventer i retur.
Folk må føle at du gjør noe Spesielt for dem.
  • Mailen
Yes, I like what Harvey talks about. You have to give and not expect in return.
People have to feel that you do something special for them.
  • randyhendrickson
I have heard this before. I must use this with truth and honor to grow my business
  • jeffreyhall
Powerful and so true - helping others with no expectation of anything in return is so powerful. It all comes back so many times over.
  • “What can I do for you”
  • peterburrows
Gold dust yesterday.....Make contact and make an effort to keep contact
Gold dust today......Offer yourself up to help, without expecting anything in return.
Apply those two to Network Marketing and you will collect the gold bullion.
  • tomlacey
Far too few people living by this motto. Powerful, powerful way of life.
  • eddyoshaughnessy
    Great tip , great mindset
  • Timely reminder, really enjoying Harvey MacKay. Thanks Eric
  • "What can I do for you" - I really like the sentence ! Let's be here for the people we meet, help them get what they want. Every networker should think like that.
  • Ryan
Just when I thought these episodes couldn't be topped, its taken to another level.
  • yuvalcohen
    Eric is amazing.
What point is to approach what can I do for you?
    I applied the approach
  • Kjell Englund
    This is a magic moment.
Great story and the message is so clear. It hit me between the eyes =)
    Thanks Mr Mackay
  • ulla99
How can I help you? Sounds great, now I have to train it in my languages. Thanks again!
  • What great advice, and what a great story about larry king.
  • peterragg
    Had to watch it twice.

Do you realise how fundamental that statement is. It is a prerequisite of becoming a Network Marketing Professional (that we all have to become).
    Regards

  • " Never Expect Anything in Return" ....
  • Great interview with Great Advice from a Great Man

    Love it.

    Funny. And true! Haha
  • lucbehar
    so true, so perfect!
    I love every single episode!
What can i do for you Eric?
    Thanks
  • wouterdeprez
That was very interesting, we have so much to learn in live and it's great to have the opportunity here!
  • Bjorgli
I agree and am training: "What can I do for you?"
  • marvalouslife1
"What can i do for you"?
    Wow.
this is great. we are serving other people, not "selling" them.

    this is a great tipp.

    Thanks Eric,

    Ron Ackerman - Israel
  • andreas papakostas
great point when you only have minimal time with people.
  • #246 Harvey Mackay on the power/reach of your contacts file.
Fascinating point: If you've honestly got Harvey Mackay in your contacts file, that stretches your reach by about 2.5 million people -- based on the people HE knows directly and the people that those people know. That conservatively assumes that the average person may have a contacts file of around 200 people. Why do I say "conservatively"? Well, Harvey knows Larry King for starters.

"What can I do for you???"
How can I help you change your life???

    Saludos from Aguascalientes, Mexico.
  • A simple yet powerful phrase from Harvey McKay that ties to an important philosophy and principle I believe: Give and it will be given unto you. a good measure pressed down, shaken together and running over will be poured into your lap.
  • My favourite bit? Hit the ball - drag Eric ;-)

I practice this approach most of the time - I love to help others. It can be a little difficult to keep the faith sometimes when you could actually do with a sale or some other reward as your cash supply dwindles but I'm learning that faith counts for a lot in the beginning. Follow faithfully in the footsteps of those that have gone before...

Harvey rocks! Definitely going to buy SWTS and his latest book - it's got to be golden.
  • aliceclifford
Hi Eric #248 this is so heart warming. He has to be a very kind man and very wise. Thanks A.C.
  • Superb information from Harvey Mackay! As Jim Rohn said: "When you give, you start the receiving process"
  • I like that analogy - as an engineer it reminds me of priming the pump before it'll start pumping.
  • margarethockaday
What can i do for you is a powerful question when you getting to know your prospect. excellent

What can I do for you Mr. Worre?
  • garyparmenter
Such great advice! Helping others without any strings attached. Build true relationships.
  • germarl
It's all about relationships without strings attached - "how can i help you?' - not 'what can I get you to do'....
  • beckydesabah
    Simple and wise!
I'm sure Mr. Mackay's "priceless" charisma is of great help.
  • What a mindset: "What can I do for you?" So simple, so short, so memorable, so doable, and so powerful. Note: I bought/read the book "Swim with the Sharks" around two decades ago. As I remember, the "technology" suggested back then was the Rolodex.

What can I do for you? and the key - not to expect anything in return!
  • Erik
    Fantastic mindset :) " What can I do for you ? "
What if that is your question to your customers and Team ? WOW !!!
  • No doubt about it Harvey listened and learn from a great man...........his father.........
  • talya_mitzafon
NETWORK MARKETING IS A BIZCONCEPT OF DUPLICATION. WE ARE ALL HERE TO ACHIEVE OUR DREAMS BY HELPING OTHERS TO ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS. THOSE SIX WORDS "WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU" PUT IT IN THE FRONT FROM THE VERY BEGINING. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS WITH ME.
  • Yikes Talya - turn the caps off please - it's like shouting ;-)
  • aliceclifford
Hi Eric I would realy like to know what the 7 suggestion's were.I just can not tell you how much i am injoying all of your videos. Thanks A.C.
  • tyroneholmes
Serving without an agenda, the only way to have true success.
  • carolbarrett
"What can I do for you". "Never expect anything in return". Great mindset. Such a terrific way to live your life and a great way to do business too.
  • rmonte
What a great way to live life. Serving others and meeting their needs without expecting anything in return. If we live this way there won't be much we will ever need because of the law of sowing and reaping. Great lesson!
  • carolmcwilliams
I just went back and re- listened to this segment. I believe the true nugget he said is Never expect anything in return. Wow, to come from that pure place of giving to give is a remarkable place to live life. This program is stretching all of us to live a more professionally. It feels like a lost art in this day and age.
  • coltsco
I love those six words, but I love expecting nothing in return even more!
  • What's in it for them!
    There it is again.
  • carolmcwilliams
This is profound advice. To change my mindset to always be thinking of the other person and what their needs may be. This is sage advice, as so often in the selling profession and Network Marketing I sometimes make the mistake of wanting to get someone started in my business vs totally be centered on them. I am excited to shift this perspective. As Harvey said, be thinking of ways to five to the other person!!
Thanks Eric for bringing to our NM education truly great minds that can help us be so much more than we already are.
  • latachia_2
Learn to make relationships& ask what can I do for you& to expect nothing in return........
  • tambry
What can I do for you? You really will have a friend for life if you serve people in that way.
  • His story illustrates that the question isn't as valuable as knowing what you have to offer before you ask it.
  • A brilliant question to offer your service generously. I'm going to start using that too.
  • Hai
Good stuff! what can I do for you?
  • Now let me think...
  • Hai
Hey, It works! Okay, Mr. Brad... it will be my pleasure... :-)
  • TAbrams
Great Interview so far and really looking forward to the other parts. Incredible story about the interaction with Larry King.

The 5 words are powerful.."What can I do for you?".. I believe this goes back to you have to have a servant's heart. You need to approach people with the right heart. I was taught in our business "Your Income is a celebration of the service to other people"..

When your eagerness for personal gain out paces your gratitude and willingness to serve you'll suffer complete and fatal loss.
  • Tarashon Broomes
never expect anything in return, great way to live by in network marketing
  • Wow.. awesome story!! That gave me chills. I learned that philosophy listening to a well named individual in our profession , Jordan Adler. Although I've always lived my life that way, I never implemented the most important step which is getting the contact's information on paper until a few short years ago. Great stuff .. Thanks so much and can't wait for more!!
  • Can't hear that often enough...
  • theuns
Wow Eric , What Can I do For you , This is really something that we all can take with us and helping others and your self, What you give out must come back . Thank You
  • eabus
Good to see a successful person coming from a place of service, just to
    break the mold.
  • Earl
"What can I do for you?" THEN follow through with something for them! WOW! It is so basic, Yet so TRUE! It has worked for me! Thanks for the reminder!
  • Yes, 5 minutes can change a live and I love this interview. I bet the full one will be full of gems.

Another most valuable 13 words I learn is, "What is the BEST way for me to contribute to YOUR life this year."
  • Erik
    Great words :)
  • Gakungu
Interesting analogy that Harvey has conveyed. I will apply that in my business.
  • Forget about yourself, and really think of how you can serve other people. This principle works in any aspect of human relationship. Such attitude enhances your position, and people see in you a problem solver and a leader who they are willing to follow.
  • janetrajala
Loved the Larry King story. We may not all be so quick with the antidote after we've asked the question, "what can I do for you?", and a reply is given.
  • Jillian
What a refreshing concept in this dog eat dog world.
  • caronwashington
Proper preparation prevents poor performance. Mr. Mackay seems like he has a plan mapped out in his head of what he's gonna say. Great advice to be in a position to offer help. I like how he said don't expect anything in return because of the nature of the universe it will come back 10 or 20 fold anyway.
  • Eric,

From what you said in this interview, why do you feel "personal development isn't quite ready for mainstream?"
  • Dee_Canada
"What Can I do for you?" I need to think on how I will be of service. It is a matter of not only having the knowledge and ability to actually BE of help to certain people, but the confidence to make the offer. Good wrords to ponder.
  • anthonyviglietta
That's fantastic. You make your own luck. When being prepared meets opportunity.
  • jlt0wn
    well said.
  • SJ Doug
I am going to start using that.
    This is great Eric!
