A group of people just got back from assisting in Haiti. This included the mayor, who, being Canadian French, could help translate.
  • interesting ... interesting

Giving of yourself is so powerful. Making a difference in someone Else's life is what it's all about.
  • yitz613
Give back to society. Be a busy person and you'll have time to get the job done and more...
  • Still catching up....going to skip ahead to the Complete & Unedited version....but wanted to make sure my comment was counted! ;-)
  • dterrell
Volunteering for causes that you believe in is so important, thanks Harvey!
  • Dylan Cooper
Busy people understand time management! I love that!
  • I want to be a father as his father was.
  • The giver always receives more than he gives.
  • AdvocareJax
The only reason we are here is to serve!
  • raybeattie
Growth through volunteering...can't ask for much better than that.
  • meagankellytorres
That is so great! Volunteer! Meet great people, become involved in your community, and give back all at the same time. I will incorporate this into my life.
  • Donna Wheaton
25% of your life should be volunteering. I am making that a #1 priority in my life. Thank you
  • Lotta
25% of my time to volunteer. I like that.
  • Every story that Harvey Mackay has told began with his father - that in itself is an incredible lesson.
25% of life should be devoted to volunteerism.
You have to ignite your own passion.
Go to a busy person who understands time management.
Philosophy in getting a job or in taking the game to the next level to become successful is to get God's given potential out of people and to give them the tools to use it.
What does it mean to Volunteer - to know you have helped someone and get immediate results or feedback from people you are helping.
  • Constant Immediate Unlimmited Feedback.
One of the most rewarding feelings in life.

    NOTES:
How much time Harvey gives to charity and causes.
25% starting now is going to be devoted to voluntarism. I started voluntaring for everything.
Guess what: by being in all those boards and charities, I become a better salesman, a better speaker, leader... can you imagine, by just being a volunteer and igniting my passion. It changed my life.
My philosophy: it's my job to get the best out of someone and provide them the tools to do it.

The biggest thing that surprised you? What it does to me! Knowing that I helped a human being. Constant immediate unlimited feedback.
  • 25% of your time spend on volunteer.
  • orlyalbo
I will do volunteer work right now. yuo are so right.
  • orlyalbo
I will do volunteer work Starting right now. I'm making class for girls. YOU ARE SO RIGHT!
  • happyhealthybob
WOW, i have wanted to, but i have used all these excuse and need to just do it and know that i can do it, and use time management better.
  • cherisizzles
You can see that Harvey is absolutely genuine when he says that his volunteer efforts and donations, etc, actually help HIM. You have to not expect a SINGLE thing in return. It's so true!! I love when successful people truly believe in the power of volunteerism. I also love what he says about how all his time spent volunteering has helped him immensely with his communication skills, etc..
  • tommycone
    # 248 - I like this post. It remindes me that I need to go back to volunteering.
  • DianaValdez
Get and give are attached. Volunteerism fills your soul and gives you more skills for everything and increase your network! I have seen that, I volunteer in different places and I have more doors open every time. This is such a good interview!
  • jeanalbert
Volunteering our time is one of the biggest gifts we could ever give to another human being. I started looking online for ways I could get involved in volunteering as soon as this video was finished. Here's a great place to start a search for those of you who don't know where to start looking. http://www.volunteermatch.org/
  • "Constant immediate unfiltered feedback from people" is what you get when you help people. Isn't that a lot like our industry? Also since my purpose is helping teach and learn myself "how to entrepreneur one's life"
isn't that a lot like giving to others? Any comments?
Yes I do volunteer in raising money as well for pet non-profits!
  • WOW! Yes, time is our greatest asset! thanks!
  • dstfa96
Thanks for this info....I definitely need to volunteer!
  • margarethockaday
Like when he said you must ignite your passion.
  • timandtricia
Giving back is an important part of the equation. Many times we feel that giving money is the object but I'm rethinking that. After all, our time is our most precious asset.
  • Shovers
One of the best times I had was volunteering, coaching kids to play balland running a youth spots organization. We got to be announcers, I had to learn computer databases to track players. I wrote a newsletter to keep all appraised of the different teams. Learned alot while having fun. Never figured out how to make money at it though.
  • jerryscribner
    fantastic
  • amazing example of giving - changed my mindset big time
  • emmettb
I like that, tithing on your time. Confirms the 'you give to receive',
  • Lorraine
wow!, I put my volunteering to some degree on hold. I see I just made a big mistake. I will make the time.
  • caronwashington
I know exactly what he means byt volunteering. Ive recently joined two organizations to volunteer my time to kids and adults. The focus is on financial education. It feels good to be able to help another individual and arm them with the necessary info to help themselves and someone else.
  • Bea Resnick
What a wonderful example he is giving that much of his time! So many times people will write a check instead of giving of themselves. He does both! I am really enjoying this interview!
  • juanfernandogutierrez
I have never been a volunteer in anything; I have donate to try to help people; never though about doing it.
I love the example of time managment
  • Veronica
25% of your time on volunteer work!! amazing... you may figure, somebody so great so sucessful, does participate in volunteer or donation but because they can... yet to know that Mr. Mackay did it since his first days and still does it is amazin, and yes the benefits that he has adquire are something else, he developed such great skills just by doing this, that is something else, from now on I will do volunteer work, I don't know if I will be able to dedicate 25% of my time to it, but I will sure start with something which is better than nothing!! Thank you both!! I love these interviews!!
  • crwood1967
Never thought about volunteering quite like he put it. Makes you think about what we do with our free time. We all need to think about that!
  • Interesting something I never would have thought of
I'm one of those that doesn't manage my time well but it is kind of hard to work in a split shift environment
My day starts at 4:30 AM and is over at 6:45 PM
  • beckydesabah
    I am impressed!!
He gives such valuable information so easily, with so much love and a geniune smile that you just want to stay close for more.
Thank you Mr. Mackay for sharing all this treasure with us.... and thank you Eric for bringing him to us.
  • kgadol
Very strong. The ability to help someone on a daily basis is a goal of mine. He takes it to the next level. Thank you.
  • robbinsaturniewicz
I have not done much volunteer work. That is something I will need to look into and find something I'm passionate about to help others.
  • Pepeneto
25% of your time in volunteer, helping others, feeling the pulse and the feedback, been able to watch the result of doing something for other human beens. Amazing. As everyone who gave says, when you give you always recive more, in this case, it's feel good, and besides, it let you devolp skills
  • alltheverybest
Wow - what a guy...Very powerful concept and not an obvious one, yet makes such good sense.
  • Inger
Wow, I'm impressed. It's nice to hear some thoughts I had confirmed by such a wise man. Focus on what you can do for others, do 25% volunteerwork. I'm definitately going to read/listen to more of his books.
Thanks Eric for giving all of us the chance to 'meet' Mr Mackay as if it were in person.
  • CarlosVera
This guy is so cool...........Makes me want to grab one of his books right now!
That smile on his face shows he really means what he says.........
  • Agneta Rebo
    I really loved that!!
  • kristibateman
This guy is amazing. I just got Swim with the Sharks and Dig your well from the library yesterday...How awesome is it that he rings the Salvation Army bell Every Year....
  • Stephen
There is no arguing with Mr. Mackay, the first order of business any business is an out pouring of love.
  • Bernadette
It all goes back to personal growth and volunteering is another great avenue.
  • jean_albert
A goal of 25% back - it's a pay it forward value - planting seeds in other people's lives even though you may not see the results first hand.
  • deniseschnitzer
I love this interview. I would love to meet this man...he seems genuine and dear. Thank you for bringing him to us. Birds of a feather, Eric...I think you are genuine and dear!
  • MarvinTowler
I think that is awesome that Harvey is sharing the wealth of information that his father passed on to him. Amazing!!!
  • MarvinTowler
We are in fact our brother's keeper. Harvey proves that you cannot out give the Universe. You get to keep whatever you give away.
  • Arnold Thompson
    I love this guy
  • mariasiro
    so good!!
  • That makes so much sense. Harvey's father is a wise man. Everything Harvey talks about is in giving and serving others. He's a real-life example of selfless giving that ends up coming back to bless your life ten-fold.
  • Wow, Harvey is an awesome guy. A true inspiration no matter who you are or what your field involves. Charitable work is a great thing to do and 25% of one's time is a true dedication. my day job is working for a non-profit and I can promise that people like Harvey are greatly appreciated.
  • I'm a 100% advocate of what Harvey has talked about this show. I don't know how to calculate the 25% but I am volunteering and I'm also on a lot of charity organization boards. My biggest acheivement so far in my volunteer work, has been making a christmas video from Father Christmas for and Orphange familia santa clara in Brazil, as part of my work for the www.briodreamfoundation.org charity. The simple act of bringing Christmas to children, is an emotional act larger than words. :) Welldone Harvey, Excellent show ;)
  • Ngoc Tran
I so love Harvey’s philosophy about volunteer with unfelt to feedback from the people we are helping. What’s a great point - 25% of life should be doing volunteer work!
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
Indeed, again this is realy a beautiful interview...

    volunteering has 2 sides:
    a) help others/society/the world
    b) develop your true skills and by doing that
ignite your passion and change YOUR life too

Spread the word and our world becomes a bright place to live

Also loved the sentence that we should not hesitate to talk to
people who are realy busy, because those people understand time-management...
  • peterragg
Wow! inspirational or what? Our destiny is to give something back. Harvey quantifies it so brilliantly.

If we aspire to follow Harvey who will follow me in setting aside 25% of their time? I need to clear the decks to do this which I intend to do.
    Regards
    Peter Ragg
  • I've said this one another post, and I'll say it again. If you want people to help you, you have to demonstrate to them that you are serious about helping them. Volunteering is the perfect place for this!
  • karivankleef
Giving back is so important to me that is why I started my journey with Network Marketing. I want to have the time freedom to go where I am needed when I am needed to go.
  • JudasPierce
    more and more great info
  • susanclark
#248-Harvey Mckay interview 3 of 5- Harvey attributes creativity and thinking out of the box to his success. Harvey has found so many ways to surround his life with people of influence. He has always found a way to do this. It's a great example of the law of association. Great message.
  • dougharkins
So much experience, packed into such a great individual. Thanks
  • Luis (Pelon)
Love to get to the point to give much more than I give today and I´m on the way also to do more.
  • jlt0wn
Volunteering has made me who I am today. I've been actively involved since I was in high school. If you're looking for an opportunity close to home or as a virtual volunteer, check out volunteermatch.org
  • seija
    Amazing!
  • fc34615
Giving back to the community is one very important reason as to why I decided to join my company.
    Thanks, Eric.
    Fernando.
  • Edith Kohler
It's really amazing, there's so much to learn
  • Jeroen Lingier
Great advice: devellop your skills through volunteerism.
    Thanks again for the advice!
From Flanders/ Belgium, this is Jeroen Lingier
  • Another example of personal development/growth. I enjoy volunteering, knowing I am making a difference in someone's life !
  • daddykekere
25% is simply amazing. I must start from somewhere and learn better time management. Thanks Harvey and Eric.
  • Great message Eric. Thank for the reminder to volunteer. Helping other people get what they want is much better.
  • mrmauriocrawford
Volunteerism is the real gut check. It'll test you to see if you really care about whatever the cause is. That's why I agree w/ Harvey about the fact that you have to get passionate, on fire about something (other than yourself).
  • eddyoshaughnessy
    An amazing person
  • mspaulamc
I love the proof positive that building yourself is a process .. you don't arrive first .. you journey and get there ! LOVED IT! :)
  • Hai
So Cool! I love the personal touch and Harvey's office tour. :-) Neat stuff, Eric, There are so many great leaders in the community that share their inspirations and experiences, just like you, with us.
I love, love your genuine and personal ways about you! You are so real, so true and so great in what you do. YOU INSPIRE & YOU EMPOWER by just BEING who you are . In a room with our famous heavy hitter, Harvey Mackey, you shines even brighter to me. You are my hero! :-)
  • Inspiring! Excellent example of the self improvement power of volunteering. Most people think volunteering will rob them of time they could be using for other 'more self beneficial' tasks .... wrong!

    Best,
    Scott
  • JenniferDu79
Excellant advice. This is way I just agreed to be a Trustee for a new 501C organization called Women Healing Women where our focus is helping women in all aspects of their lives and to help them to take charge. We have such great plans for this and I cannot wait until we are able to give someone the funds they need to start their small business as a gift when they are unable to get that money from conventional means.
  • nelleke
Great subject. I volunteer too. It's true it does a lot for you as a person. It's wonderfull to give a bit of your time to serve or help other. I've learned a lot too and you know there is not as much pressure on you're shoulders as you have in a job. Because of that creativity comes out more easely.
  • lauralopez
I really like to be volunteer with things that I like it.....That´s what Im doing, Im preparing myself and working to have a better life and my dream is in 4 or 5 years work in things that I really like it, that I feel passion
    Thanks for share your experience
  • Hai
Full of priceless gems to add to the quality of your life and your business. Just love the Harvey Mackay interview, Eric. Thank you!
  • PaulineP
    Incredible.
  • BetterCoffee.dk
Having heard this advice from Randy Gage previously I have joined some volounteer work.
I meet an amazing wealth of inspirational and capable people this way!

Not only does it give me good times and hones my leadership.
I also find good friends and business partners!
  • Maxwellhealth
Isn't it interesting that his 25% rule fits so well with the true sponsor mentorship philosophy ....how many of us consistently reach out, go the extra mile (s) with folks that have seen no way to improve their families financial trajectory and provide hope, guidance and resources to make a huge difference in peoples lives......
  • Wow! This is incredible. It's amazing how doing something so good as volunteer teaches you so much in life. Life changing for sure.
  • Volunteer. This is now a new word for me to use.
  • randyhendrickson
I agree with Harvey. I like to volunteer, I have felt since being an adult it was my duty to give back what was given to me
  • Ryan
    can't believe he's 80, very inspirational!
  • ulla99
People with big heart has many friends and huge network. They are right peolple for our business.
  • Go to the busy people if you want thngs to get done. Time management is one of the core essence of success. By devoting some of your time to charity, you need to manage your time better, and besides the satisfaction of helping others, you will be a better person in so many aspects. Much wisdom in this episode!
  • Irina
Can't wait for the next part!
  • gjt
the reward for volunteering is changed lives that includes mine
  • Eric, A most excellent interview. Doing things for other people helps with the balance in my life. After having to layoff people today at my job I very fortunately had someplace to go to help others (volunteering) which truly eased my stress about what had transpired during the day. I can perhaps sleep better because of it.
  • The 25% rule is amazing. On my way there. It is about 5% so far in my life. What an amazing goal to work on achieving. Thanks for sharing Harvey and Eric.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed
  • I love this message! Volunteering has changed my life! Giving forward of myself to others is incredible. I always get more from each experience than I feel I am giving. Watching the wonder in a child's eyes at a family homeless shelter as you read a story to them, packing medical supplies for use in Haiti, delivering meals to the shut-ins and seeing their gratefulness for your being there, what amazing feelings surge though me. Thank you, Harvey, for giving us all one more step in raising each other to a higher level. Thank you, Eric, for your honest feelings of amazement in what Harvey is doing.
  • Indeed! And I LOVE this too... and is a must to pass it on.
  • SJ Doug
What an interesting guy Harve is.
  • latachia_2
Wow! That was a really good one. 25% of life should be doing volunteer work. He's benefitted from it by a better communicator& sales person,as well as being able to see the benifits of helping the people he is raising the money for.
If you really want to get something done,go to a busy person that already has good time management skills..
Plus he's in very good physical shape& takes really good care of himself. He says he's 104 in time manegement age,he's done that many thingds with his life due to the good skills he has learned from good time management& volunteering 25% of his time to good causes.
  • georgeman
This guy is awesome. I totally forgot what book I read that spoke about taking the focus off of one's self by volunteering (I will post when I remember). When a person does this, it increases his self worth and image/esteem. It also makes the day to day actions we do in our NM business "No big deal". I cannot think of many things more honorable than feeding a hungry mouth as a volunteer at a soup kitchen, or volunteering to help the Salvation Army for a Saturday morning, or any other similar sacrifice. I have personally signed up at a house for the hungry on a "as needed" or "we will call if we need you" basis. It felt great just knowing I went that far. I will do much more, thank you for the reminder.
  • Give to give. The space you give from has to be filled. You give positive and the space will be filled with positive.
  • karenandian
Constant, Immediate, unfiltered feedback = volunteering!!! What a concept and such a definition for an act - of kindness! - Thank you Mr. MacKay! Thank you Eric!!!
  • lynnhall
Volunteering is good, 25% of giving, I will look into that.
  • rayrios
Amazing indeed. Thank for continuing to give.
  • turjcxg
Eric, it's amazing that thanks to your generosity, we have access to such incredible insight and mentoring. Thank you for your time, investment and effort in this website so that we have the opportunity to learn!
  • travelprohawaii
    Cool I will start volunteering!
  • HoracioMejia
I didn't think that voluntarism would make a big impact in my mind. I have thought about the idea of volunteering, but have never done it. Time to open my mind to new perspectives and experiences. 25% would seem a lot of time, but doing the same stuff will only get me to the same place I am now.
  • latachia_2
I've done some volunteering& I liked it. Find a cause that you have a passion for1
  • Great stuff!! and I mean GREAT! I am glad I had my journal handy while watching it! Thanks E.W!
  • tambry
Never thought of volunteering as an asset to being a salesperson. Great message.
  • lorijones
Harvey this was a great segment, what commitment and love you have for others. How many children do you have? Have they followed in your footsteps with this great quality your father taught you? I wish I would have been given the same advice by my parents.
  • Beautiful.
  • How did life get so busy that we let go of the giving? Time for everyone to refocus!
  • Earl
Okay! 25% of your time in volunteering to others... I guess that means that you have to really schedule your time wisely to be able to spend 25% of it in volunteer. Maybe that is why there is such a great reward for doing that!
  • bartonmurray
we gotta get this message to the very youngest....apathy is running rampant and Harvey's message is a life-preserver-BRAVO
  • Dave S
Sounds like Harvey had a remarkable father. I would to hear Harvey describe what he thinks made his father such an effective communicator that he was able to get his son to listen.
  • julie67
Dedicate 25 % of your time to help others. What a better world we would live in if we would all do this!
  • bethascoli
Wow, this one was important for me to. I was impressed by the concept of 25%. Even though the nature of our business is giving to others, I realize I'm not doing enough. I have been thinking for a long time about volunteering at the children's hospital but always thought that I didn't have the time. Now I see there is no excuse.
  • Ellis3
So to find constant immediate unfiltered feedback should also be a goal whether volunteering or sitting down with a new rep ... powerful!
  • quintaser
Still (once more) with tech problems, but eager to learn about MLM

Amazing man, amazing lesson for life. Thank you so much.

I have to admit, I'm one of those going..25%! How on earth do I come up with the time! :) But, life is about service to others. Thanks for the reminder.

    I am honored to help
  • ritafulton
25%?!!??!!! WOW, ;pve this episode so much. Thank you both.
  • Lisette
    Thanks!
    Life is about giving
  • Donna Wheaton
Helping others! that is the most important thing you can do is to volunteer it just makes you feel good. Strive for 25% of volunteering of time.
  • keithraines
I have known about Mr. Mackay for many years but didn't know about his giving nature. thanks - something to imulate for sure.
  • soxfan071
Find someone who is busy if you want to get something done. Time management. Give of yourself and receive the reward. Need to do more of this. Thank you!
  • To Give Is To Receive
  • rasdaniels
Great concept - giving of ourselves to others
  • germarl
Great advice -great wisdom - thanks
  • Giving of yourself - your time, volunteering - I have done this but am thinking I will do more. Thank you Eric and Harvey.
  • Another great post! So what constitutes 25% of your life? Literally it's 42 hours a week (6 hrs a day) which would be tricky if you didn't include pro-bono work like mentoring.

I think it's an amazing thing to do before you are financially free but what I'm hearing from the big dogs is "charity begins at home" so get yourself and your family secure first.

This isn't what Harvey is saying here - I guess he wasn't financially free at 21 (unless he had a Dad like The Donald?).

Ok so if it 25% of your working day that's 2 hrs a day every day - even that's a stretch UNLESS you can creatively combine it with networking which is very possible - after all, we're sharing the love and whilst one wouldn't want to have an overt or hidden agenda, if we consider charitable giving part of attraction marketing it could be a win-win.

I always thought that being an officer in the military was a bit like giving time to charity given the amount you got paid for the value of the work and the difference you made to people's lives so maybe I've already chalked up a fair stint working 18 hour days, 7 days a week for £20 an hour ;-)

I'm going to look for opportunities to follow Harvey's lead here - I've already got a couple of charities I support and I can certainly get passionate about them.
  • racingworm
Volunteer for something. Great for a persons attitude for sure. When you see the shape this country is really in , by helping people down on life, it gives you a feeling like you can't describe. Great interview.
  • jpmendoza
This is great, to be of more service to others.
  • Bjorgli
A lot of experience to share. Thank you so much.
  • Great post today. We go through our lives working for others for a paycheck and it is much more gratifying to volunteer for no pay and we all become a better person. Gonna think I will implement this in my life. We can "make a difference" in other peoples lives.
  • Volunteering is the most gratifying thing one can do. Finding an area in your life where you have been touched and can share your experience can help in locating a good place for you to volunteer. This is a great video.

Definitely to good teaching. In my personal case this interview until now, in its third part has been that impacted me most of all since the birth of Networkmarketinpro.com

What I saw today in this video, generates a significant challenge me about learning to be a volunteer in at least a percentage of my time. Volunteering is a great way to give that truly impacts the lives of many people and so it is a way to open the doors to receive many blessings.

    Greetings from Cali, Colombia,

    -GJ
  • Episode 39 of Eric Worre's 100 Episode Throw Down Challenge:

Volunteering 25% of your time... Great idea... Quite the goal too! Goes along with not making it about yourself and helping others again... What Can I Do For You and Volunteering, Harvey is AMAZING! Thanks for sharing Eric.
  • TAbrams
Great concept, and volunteerism is one of the best ways intended to promote good or improve human quality of life. Isn't that why we are also involved in this profession? To improve overall quality of life.

Hearing Harvey state that you "Have to Ignite your passion" is so true. Find what you're passionate about and go after it...go all out. You have to have the servant's mentality and the more you grow the more you have to give, not only monetarily.

I have picked a few charities and organizations that I have now worked with for some time, and I am passionate about them and love the interaction and enjoy seeing the results of the impact and knowing that I have been able to make a difference.
  • gillym1
What a great concept - I love it! Can't wait for the rest of the interview.
    Thanks Eric
  • dlinkhart
This was a totally new concept for me. I have to think about where my passion in helping people lies. Great stuff!
  • Like Mr. Mackay says something is better than nothing. Strive for 25% but if you think it is too much, start with less. And do it with heart and passion. Do NOT do it because you want something in return. Add to that physical exercise and do what you have to do to stay healthy for as long as you can. Pretty simple formula.
  • Marion
No one is too busy to volunteer! Everyone benefits.
What an amazing interview - Thanks to both of you.
  • chipc
I have been so consumed by my own life and family, that I really had thought of volunteering a portion of my time. It's time to change.
  • Samuel Bratt
Lo ve every part of the interview.... Help, Give and you will receive.....
  • gloriavintila
I don't know if "Give and you shall receive" is a proverb, but I know it is true. Volunteering gives a great return on investment if done with heart and enthusiasm. "To know that you've helped another human being"...
  • agreed... I know for me personally every time I have done this I get more out of it than the people or organization that I'm helping.
  • This information is priceless!! Give and it shall be given to you. It's all about serving others. The greatest joy in my life has always come from serving others, our children our friends and complete strangers.

    Thanks Harvey and Eric

    Jim
  • Ignite your own passion. When it's about someone other than myself. Part of my NWM pursuit, in me, is to become successful with the God-given tallents, as he says. What better way to discover that, than to trust new mentors, like you, your program and your guests, can help to get it out of me? Volunteering is an action step of abundance. I've clearly not given the time because of my own "fear of loss". What I heard in this interview, was that in volunteering to help others, new abundant rewards manifest. Ok, let's go!
  • Volunteering is much different thatn writing a check. Get in, exert energy, get in the volunteerinism trenches, see the immdiate feedback and results. Give with no expectations of receiving. Pure unselfish love toward humanity.
  • Cindy Dower
Probably the most important relationship besides connecting with spirit, is with service to the community.
  • I learned something new from this episode.
Make a commitment to give generously, and you will receive back even if you do not expect to. This is one of the laws of prosperity.
  • coltsco
This is definitely a must see and must incorporate into our lives concept.
  • gmeyerson
probably closer to 5% right now, so need to up the game a lot
  • jennyc
    Great advice, always help others.
  • thats a really interesting perspective on how volunteering can give back to you! great show!
  • guydrennan
I liked what Mr Mackay said about (sic) volunteering... not just writing a check, but being involved in the change of someone's life, and being there to see the results.
  • I'm going to share this with everyone.
  • MattinJaxfl
25% of time to volunteering. That is an amazing commitment. I am not ready for that level but maybe I can get in on the 5 to 10% bracket. :)
  • agelfederico
Waooooooooooooo, great idea, I will do it as well, and will start running too.
  • this is very true...how easy it is to pass up an opportunity to serve because we're busy or we think we can't tribute in a big way...but it's the little contributions that count in the grand scheme of things.
  • Pete
Help others and you'll get everything in live that you want and need.......seems I've heard that before. Must be something to it.
  • Great story of how he gave of himself and a by product was the development of new skills and new circle of influence
  • gkamlm
What a standard to set for volunteering and the benefits of it.
  • 10 marathon's.. WOW! I think a lot of wealthy people volunteer and don't need or seek the recognition for doing so.. Harvey Mackay is one of them. Unlike many Hollywood celebrities, who look for volunteering as a photo op.
  • What an awesome legacy... give 25% of your time. We may not all have been fortunate to have this instilled in us at a young age, but shame on us if we don't start to change today.
  • carybennett
Wow this guy has lots of great nuggets, his dad taught him well but most of all he has acted on it all.. Thanks Eric
  • theuns
Wow Eric today i learn something new , and it just make send what you give to others will come back to you every time in Health Wleath or in person to enjoy what you did . Thanks
  • Denise Cox
wow. he's magnetic. the way he talks to you and then looks at us, is so warm and heartfelt. you can tell he's a great man just b/c of that. really enjoying the interview. more please!
  • Steve_Nelson
It's very cool to learn from people that have the true meaning of living a good life figured out like Harvey does. I always think, on my down time, how it would be great to make so much money that you don't have to work anymore and I could do whatever I wanted. There's probably less than .5% of people in the world that could stop and do nothing and never run out of money ( Harvey Mackay might be one, I don't know), yet these few people continue to give and volunteer and just help other people. My point is that a lot of wealthy people just care about their own needs and maybe their family's needs, but a guy like Harvey is always concerned with giving to others. That's what I want to be like
  • hillin
We have to admit that helping others and volunteer work isn't anchor in our occidental culture.
  • Dee_Canada
Ahhh....how well the 25% volunteerism goes with the "What I can do for YOU" mantra. All things align when you are going in the right direction.

A great man...and a great man brining him to us all. THANK YOU Eric...and thank you so much Harvey for giving your time for us all.
  • kgoren
By dedicating 25% of your time to volunteerizm....will help you become who you are in your professional and personal life. The more you give, the more you will receive. I love how much Harvey references his father. He must have truly been an incredible man.
  • Hi Eric & Harvey! Another truth from Harvey Mackay - Thank you! I love this community - I learn something new every day - Fantastic! / Linda, Sweden
  • Bryan_in_KC
At least 25% of my time is spent serving as a volunteer in prison ministry. Everything Mr. Mackay says is true. I have received so much benefit from doing this, but I believe it has come with the right mindset of giving to give vs. giving to get. Volunteer. Become part of something bigger than yourself. It's worth it.
  • ericworre
    Good for you Bryan!
  • pollyhulseman
I love listening to the man who has written the books I've already read. It puts so much more meaning to the books and to life.
  • Jillian
Great inspiration - gotta get his books and thanks again Eric for the introduction. A great guy who has achieved so much, and still holds his dad in such great esteem and attributes all his success to him... although he was the one who implemented those very sound principles. How refreshing.
  • garyparmenter
Give twenty five percent of your time to volunteer work. The selfless act of serving others has many rewards both with those you serve and yourself. Sounds alot like network marketing.
  • chriskemp817
Fantastic advice! What a great human being Mr. Mackay is! We can all better ourselves by taking some of his advice. I will find his books and start reading them.
  • billrogers
What an amazing man. As the saying goes, the apple doesn,t fall far from the tree. Like father like son. A true Humanitarian.
  • Nancy Eldred
What an amazing man Harvey Mackay's dad must have been. He might not have made his $10,000 a year like he wanted, but his legacy of wisdom passed down through his son Harvey is priceless. I'm grateful that Harvey REALLY listened to his dad, because now we get the benefit of 2 Mr. Mackay's in making our own lives and those around us so much better.
  • bryantkeefe
"You have to ignite your own passion no one can do it for you" and "always find the busy person to get things done"...Solid, inspiring and simple....Not easy but amazingly simple.
  • brigittapatel
    What an inspiration!
By listening and looking at Harvey Mackay one knows that what he has done with his life has served him well.

    Thanks a million.
  • krisic
Man what an inspiration! God must be so proud to have a child like that. I do believe volunteering is so important for so many reasons. I volunteer my time at church for the dance and prayer team. And donated money to causes. But it sounds like I should be doing more than that-wow, I gotta figure out what to do next. I am so proud of Harvey!
  • Katie N
This guy really has it together. He takes care of others(volunteering) AND takes care of himself. It's a great balance.
  • I love him!
  • Gakungu
That is amazing. Giving back to the community shows how much you really care in making the world a better place.
  • enrique62
Immediate feedback on helping another human being-volunterims.
  • Yep. This is powerful. I was a volunteer for 3 years but then i stopped that and focused on myself and my biz. But now since i get it started and running i'm going to do some research and see organization would benefit from my time and experience and where i would fell good while bringing value.

    With appreciation,
    Alex Tita,
    Here as promised.
  • Tina Perdue
I have got to read his books. I think his whole philosophy of life is great. I want to know more about his father.
  • hpena
I once heard the key to happiness is found in service to others. That truely is why we're all here.

    Nando
  • carolbarrett
Great advice -- giving 25% of your time to volunteerism. Terrific way to live your life too.
  • Give without noticing the cost and for the pleasure of the giving, not to exchange something for another.
  • quincy
I never thought about that. Volunteering is a great way to give back and expecting nothing in return. But doing so you are increasing your network meeting more people. This is something I will start to implement in my life.
  • Giving is a lot like preparing to teach a class, group, team etc. You seem to be the greatest benefactor. Thanks Eric & Harvey.
  • So true!
The feeling you get from helping others is fantastic especially when you are face to face with the person and you feel their happiness and gratitude.
The idea of having 25% of your life volunteering is a great idea especially when you want to be in the Arena of Gratitude from others.
  • jeffreyhall
You must give to receive. Giving comes in many different fashions. The benefits to the giver is amazing.
  • jlconner
Wonderful advice. Volunteering always does good for your soul. Thanks Eric.
  • hlj521
Being Human is about reaching out to others and loving them. Giving our "time" to others is so HUGE! Thank you for doing these interviews so that we can continue to gain perspective on what living really means! Wow, 25% I can not wait to get started on increasing my giving time which will increase the value not only my life but the lives of others.
  • anthonyviglietta
This is one reason why I'm involved with network marketing. With time and financial freedom, the ability to spend more time helping great causes comes into play.
  • This was so nice to hear, because I have started to do some volunteering fore the last year. Not that much, but I noticed that it is a great way to meet nice people, and it makes you feel good. I believe in the saying, that if you give you will receive.....
  • Cee_G
I believe everything is ordained and the timing of this episode was right on. In spite of a very busy work schedule, and working on building my NM business, I decided to volunteer at my church for the entire season of Lent. I am a vocalist and this involves singing at a Mass or service every night of the week for 5 weeks. My biggest "sacrifice" is the commodity of time. I did not have the time to give up - I did need it in other areas (don't we all....) - but just like Harvey said, the best part is the immediate feedback of the lives you touched. That is priceless and I don't know where it will lead or what future doors may open as a result. But volunteering is definitely a powerful and important thing to do. You "give up" in order to "give out", and that will always come back to you in some greater way.
  • pech
What a lifestyle. When you look at the interview, you can see and hear that Harvey Mackay has a good lifestyle and a good life.
  • Amazing! One cannot help but be inspired when listening to these pearls of wisdom. What a gift this is! Thank you Eric for providing this interview on NMP. I want to state, what I know so many of your followers are thinking.
"What you are doing for all of us, in giving us this program is also amazing. Eric, You are simply, "THE BEST!”
I reviewed your, program #247 yesterday with one of our new partners, and recommended that part of his daily plan be that he join NMP and become a daily learner, and contributor to your comments. His immediate comment was, “This is fantastic”, and he went on to say… I can learn from you, Talk Fusion, NMP and Eric! I am pumped and can't wait to start. This is unbelievable, being able to listen to all of the MLM Thought Leaders and gain their insight on what it takes to be a professional in this business. Look for Randy Molina to be a regular contributor, as one of your new NMP regulars.
  • mbryant
Phenomenal perspectives on life. 25% of your life spent volunteering - what an impact!
  • annenz
The little amount of volunteering I do I agree with the feedback and the buzz it gives me.

Again the role model of Harveys Dad is amazing and love the thoughts shared in this venue. Thankyou.
  • It seems to me that this gving 25 of your life to charity is better training than any formal qualifications. As Eric says I need to really take this on board and look carefully at my own life and make some rapid changes.
  • drpricedc
This is a tough one for me....running 3 business, 3 kids and a 4th on the way. I know the value of volunteering but I have to admit that this is a tough one for me to implement. Definately something to improve on!
  • tomlacey
Great message on volunteerism and a reminder about getting thing done!
  • wouterdeprez
    waw, incredible person this is!
  • Paco_Carreno
Hey... Robert Kiyosaki had a Poor Dad and a Rich Dad... hey Harvey's was the super wise and down-to-hearth dad... As Harvey said his Dad wasn't millionaire BUT I honestly think this man has left a great legacy with his son Harvey teaching us all this lessons because back in the day he followed what his dad had to tell him. Thank you
  • MagnusEdvald
Amazing man, 25%. A true inspiration. Thanks Eric for doing this interview.
  • I like the idea of seeing the results, feeling the pulse and instant feedback
  • This man puts a smile on my face. It's so nice to hear that someone gives back a lot. The 25% is the reason he became so successful like he said. Really something to think about and implant it into my life as well. Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • Being with the people, hearing their hearts and touching their hearts. Gives you Joy and major Development.
100% agree. Give 25% to Volunteering gladly and with passion
  • This is amazing - I've done volunteer work before and I have to agree with Harvey - it's a super teacher ! Now I'm acctually geting in the mood to do it again ! :)
  • This is a pretty amazing interview, it's made me re-think about volunteering in an area that I'm passionate about.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Harvey.

Thanks for connecting us to these great people Eric.
  • lucbehar
Oh yes, get values through what you give
Gain respect by giving first, by sharing
Volunteer boost your heart up, your soul up and helps you every day to look in the mirror
    Tks

    Great lesson
  • aileens
What a wonderful man ! His messages are profound. "What can I do for you ?" has already changed the way my business is going.
  • Kjell Englund
So much wisdom, humility and empathy for other people.
Thank you Mr Mackay, it's a wonderful gift to receive from your experience
  • Excellent lessons and values gained from that experience and thanks for sharing as well as providing encouragement to continue volunteerism on my part
  • Many recurring themes throughout this interview. When we help others, we reap the benefits by default.
  • Ria Leermakers
    Wow! What an incredible idea.
I'm a vollonteer for several hours a week. The idea of giving 25% of my time has never crossed my mind.
But I agree on the delopment it brings.
  • WOW, this was amazing! Makes me want to volunteer more... in fact, I am going to make sure I devote more time to volunteering at least 25%.

    Thanks Harvey, INCREDIBLE message!
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
I am tweeting these interviews (@Mark_Abrahams) to share this great stuff with friends. The question is - are they listening...are they ready and open for this stuff.

I hope others will commit to helping others any which way they can.

Harvey is a great role model - someone to follow and from whom aspiration and inspiration emanates.

For me, I now have to address the walk the walk aspect.
    Could I run a marathon?
Not unless it was closely followed by my demise. I'd better get in training. I'm all theory and no action (or rather, not enough).
Yet I am building _ to be, do and have what will continue to be delivered under the "what can I do for YOU" maxim and philosophy.
And yes – WE HAVE A BETTER WAY.
    Thanks Again Eric.
  • What a guy. He put a smile on my face too. Wouldn't you just love to spend some time with him? (you too of course Eric).
  • veronikakari
Time management, that is the think which helps a lot. And charity, I am trying to help in my own small way as well.
  • Erik
Fantastic interview. 25% of your time on volunteering. What a man his father was :)
  • denagottlieb
Oh wow, Eric. Thank you for bringing this man into my living room! I have read stuff by Harvey YEARS ago (when I was learning to sell). Waaaaaay before my NM career began. I loved his stuff then and I still love it.
This is a person to learn from and emulate.

    Thank you both!
  • eugenejohnson
man i gotta get the book that he was talking about earlier ...this guy is good
  • What great advise.Thank you. Can't wait for the next part.
  • Hey Hollace good to see you keeping up the posts (even though it's easy now you're retired ;-)) Wondering where our other classmates are from the 15th?
  • hcapcarp
Interesting concept busy.... I am never too busy to play golf. As was said before, too busy has more to do with choices than to do with time management.
  • Bart
this interview is worth millions of dollars!
  • brianhepner
One Hundred and Four.... What a great way to make all the moments count..... He is wealthy and famous because of the love from the people he helps.... Live Long and Prosper... Add That to our better way.
  • marvalouslife1
nobody is too bussy. "bussy" is just an excuse.
there is always time to do something you love and enjoy.

  • Giving a part of your time and a part of yourself to volunteer, will be the greatest feeling in the world.
  • martinvf
Volunteering gives the opportunity to stay on the ground and keep myself as human being.
Keeps sensitivity and vulnerability in me.

    Saludos from Aguascalientes, Mexico

    Hey Eric
Giving and volunteering are the things that enhance the mind, give a good feeling that I can help someone else.
Who volunteers to belong to a special category of good people.
Who contributes. Get back what he gives
Universe of his own ways to reward us back
  • gabisahar
    Dear Eric,
I've realised already one of my dreams, with Agel.
I am volunteering already, yes, it is a great feeling, and yes, I havn't though about volunteering as a mean of improving my skills of communications, this is very true.
    Thank you.
  • Foord Yates
Volunteering is great..... gets you a lot of skills for free, and you can learn skills and use your existing skills to benefit others.

Also can develop a great peer network.

    Foord Yates.
  • Mr. Harvey Mackay, you are an incredible individual!!
  • something to remember every day
  • barryburgin77
Thanks for reminding me of something else I don't do on a regular basis!
  • tyroneholmes
    Giving is a blessing
  • Tarashon Broomes
    volunteerism like that idea
  • Volunteerism was the way I did my job to promote their products. Now this will be a way to bulid my network of contacts. What can I do for you.
  • Darnell
Doing volunteer work and really getting involved can increase one's learning curve incredibly well and propel an individual to becoming successful in networking with others let alone staying productive and busy. One has to ignite one's own passion is very informative and true!! Thank you both for sharing this tidbit...looking 4ward to the next video!!
  • Give 50% or more it all comes back in so many ways you can't put a number on it. To touch another persons life is priceless................
  • feltricks
It all comes back to the six words, what can I do for you?
When you are destined to give, your time, your talents and your treasures, you will be blessed with all the prosperity in this world. What a great gift.
    God bless you Mr. Mackay.
Thank you Mr. Worre for sharing with me, your time, your talents and your treasures.
    God bless you
  • Creates a win / win. Help someone else that then helps expands your network.
    I like that!
  • carolmcwilliams
Devoting 1/4 of my life to volunteerism. This would be a huge shift for me in how I see myself contributing to life and my community. I am thinking of what am I passionate about (helping kids build strong self esteem) and will explore areas where I can give of myself. I love how Harvey explains the benefits, better communication, leadership and the inner satisfaction of knowing we are making a difference.
  • "Want to get something done, go to someone who is busy." Great way to evaluate the type of people we approach.
  • eabus
Thank you, that is a wisdom rich and juice interview.
