A great great visual Eric. There are plenty of people trapped in those buildings while we work our faces off to shwo there is a bettter way and you can have freedom if you really want it.
  • aliceflanders
I still don't know how to make the initial contacts. Except for going door to door. I know speaking would be great, but can't find anywhere I can speak.
  • wealthandriches
All those people "trapped" in those buildings working jobs they hate. Powerful truth!
You're out having fun while they are stuck behind a desk.
Thanks Eric for showing us a better way!
  • heatherbrocklehurst
Woo hoo! Eric, that one gave me chills! Great visual!
  • yitz613
Accept that we are going the wrong way according to everyone else. KNOW that we are going the RIGHT Way in reality.
  • Kamal
I love that analogy and you couldn't have picked a better spot (maybe Wall Street) but that location was perfect and the buildings you used with ALL those people were the right ones.
  • mspaulamc
RHINOS vs Cows ... what a great word picture!
  • JenniferDu79
I never thought about it that way. I can deal with the honking and people yelling at now I just need to learn to take PRIDE in the fact that I am going the wrong way. Thanks Eric for an enlightening episode.
  • One of my leaders, Chris Brady, did a talk a while back talking about the following the herd......and where does the herd always end up??? The Slaughter House! Same concept.....GREAT Message & visual!
  • Yes, I do think you have to be a little crazy to be a successfull networkmarketeer. But guess what? Fun is being in uncommon, not in conformity
  • nmpro4ever
    yes.we are.
  • Powerful example, Eric...and so TRUE!!
  • jeanalbert
This is a great explanation of what we experience as network marketers.
  • Lotta
This one was realy good thank you.
  • Ngoc Tran
Yes, we are uncommon but we are doing the right things to respect our lives.
  • happyhealthybob
Ya, but once we get out of the traffic, it is amazing.
  • Donna Wheaton
Thanks Eric for giving me the visual of me going the right direction and their going the wrong way. I am going the right direction. Network Marking WORKS!!!!!!!
  • nikigombis
It's the future. We are just the leaders.
  • robbinsaturniewicz
    I'm with you Eric.
  • The only problem with the analogy is that we'll get killed if we drive the opposite way on a busy one way street. Or we'll end up in jail! The best part of the analogy is to create our own lane....that is not only reasonable, but exciting~!!
  • Great Analogy!
  • Irina
Thank you for the visual message!
    It is so clear!
  • Dylan Cooper
Great analogy! I'll use it again!
  • Inger
Don't wait to follow other people, get other people to follow you!
  • meagankellytorres
Yes! Yes! Yes! We are uncommon. We are different! We are going the right way, everyone else are going the wrong way. We must embody our belief, because that makes more of a difference than anything we could possibly say. Once our belief is 100%, then nothing can stop us!
  • Tony
Great analogy. I like the "create your own lane" part.
  • feltricks
Even though at first is scary, ones you really tell yourself that no matter what, you are doing what is correct, then you will comfortable and all the things we do become easy.
    Thanks a lot Eric.
  • CarlosVera
Yes, we are "nuts" going "the wrong way", but what we will find along the road is so much better than what people going the right way will find................Stay crazy, and have fun!!!
  • People don't really realize how broken this system is,
It will never be functional again
  • I love this clip. I wish I could be like Eric - confident. "That system is BROKEN. We have a better way!"
  • gjt
what can i say i just agree
  • Bernadette
Great analogy! I like to think of myself as stepping out of the box and not afraid to be different.
  • Love it. Go against the flow. Lots of people want to but are scared. If you do it with conviction and don't quit, they will follow you.
  • Agneta Rebo
That´s a great way to visualize what we are doing. Thanks Eric!
  • Bea Resnick
When we're "in the flow" of our own lives, we can go in a direction opposite of everyone else and know for sure we're going the right way. It can be easy and fun. You're absolutely right about the "concept." Do we perceive that we're going the right direction? Or do we perceive that we're going the wrong direction based on what others are doing?
  • Miguel Cortez
I have always been different .... that y it fits me so well..... to an uncommon person..
  • Cindy Dower
The horn honking is deafening sometimes! I admit, it has held me back. But your encouragement and examples and tips are helping me ignore the them and build my faith and self-confidence in our "better way."
  • ronaldvandomburg
let's take the one way street...the other way!
  • My experience is that during my first year in the business there was a lot of horn honking. There was the MOST honking by my friends when I was new because they sensed my newness and uncertainty. After a year, I don't get as much pushback as before because they realize I've stuck with it and because my message is better. Why is my message better? In large part, because of this blog! thanks Eric!
  • Amazing visual!
  • daddykekere
Thank You Eric. That is a powerful illustration. So vivid, so clear. Thank you so much
  • Darnell
I'm going to go in the opposite direction from the masses...Seems to me there is a 'Better Way' to success and fortune!!
  • chriskemp817
Great message Eric! Escaping the Rat Race!
  • pech
If the dreams and aspirations are big enough, it is easier to overcome objections and frustrations as we are forced to live with.
  • ViktoriaGuerin
Great example, thank you for reminding this.
  • jean_albert
So many people I know & meet understand they're going downstream in a broken system, but they're "comfortable" with that. They understand the "blue" pill/"red" pill concept of the Matrix but want to stay blind to the facts (they're comfortable with that) and....they wil criticize anyone that's rocking their boat, making them "uncomfortable" because then they have explaining to do...to their spouse, children, etc. Yes, WE ARE UNCOMMON... stay the race....
  • brianhepner
You are right, we don't accept the traditional rules, or life the traditional life.
  • Jose Lopez
Loved the concept! We are definitely uncommon and I am so proud of that!

Hey Cyn, great to see you !!
  • jlt0wn
I really like the visualization. Plus, you take a frustration we all can relate to - or at least I can - and create a very clear analogy. I've always been one to go against the flow. . .
  • quintaser
    DON'T FEAR TO BE DIFFERENT!!
Yes, we at MLM are odd, different, extrange according to the world, Im sure that if you can go on, even when your "love ones" and "Friens" reject you, you are heading to success. Hold on, keep going, success only belong to those who doesn´t quit.....

From Puebla, Mexico, I am Sergio Quintana, MLM Pro.
  • barryburgin77
    A different drum beat.
  • Vange01
    Thanks for this great point!!!
  • :D Yes that is true, but it's fun :)
Freedom and fortune is the most precious feelings.
  • agelfederico
Very good way to see it, thank you very much Eric
  • Going the wrong way sometimes leads you to success. I like the office workers analogy. I have a meeting later today with a person who works in a tower...I think I will ask him how many of his fellow workers in the tower love what they are doing.
  • krisic
Fantastic! Great point! I was just talking last night to a friend about something my dad had said to my when I started my Agel business: "would you rather have a million dollars or a happy healthy family?". I thought that that statement is completely rediculous because you can have both!!!!! One day he will get it!
  • Interesting analogy.... good to use. ~
  • Great analogy Eric - I immediately thought of this quote -

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."
    - Ralph Waldo Emerson
  • chocolatelifesaver
The Uncommon will one day be a good common because the we as a people will have taken back our lives from others and that will bring about a world change (2012?) You never know. We do have a better way! Don't be afraid to share it with others.
  • soxfan071
So true, how about the people who get a couple people in the warm market early and they stop talking to people and hope that the few they have will be the winning ticket. If you stop they stop. If it is ment to be it is up to me!
  • We do have the best way, make no mistake about it... this was a great analogy Eric!
  • margarethockaday
    excellent analogy
  • carolmcwilliams
The symbolism of being in a car going the opposite direction of all the others cars is helpful to imprint into my brain, as I am choosing an uncommon way of doing business. Yet, it is a wonderful business model, as it is based on the philosophy of cooperation, and win win, vs dog eat dog and competition.

I also like to think of your analogy Eric as forging a new path that gains momentum on our NM journey. One where we are helping to pave the way for many others as we find the way ourselves. It is working toward finding that road that enables us to all speed towards our dreams.
  • keithraines
Great analogy of daily network marketing adventures
  • Bernadette
Great Analagy! Eric, thanks for all the encouragment you send our way.
  • karivankleef
    Very good analogy.
  • Ellis3
I love this and am sharing this with my whole team Eric!!!
  • You have to be 'weird' to win. Going the wrong way on a one-way street is a brilliant analogy to what we do in our industry. As Eric said, the people going the 'right' way down the street are people who are trapped - in jobs they hate - doing things for people that they don't want to do - and for what? And they call us crazy?

I'm with you Eric. We'll create our own lane, because we do have a better way. Thanks for all the you do, Eric!
  • kgadol
    Yes we do!!!
  • germarl
'The way to go - is against the flow' !!
  • emmettb
always scarry to go against the flow. I heard "Dead fish flow with the current, live fish swim against".
  • Going the wrong direction is the way I want to go.....I don't want to be trapped going their direction.
  • Great example ! Amazing thoughts and ideas you have, Eric !
  • chipc
Good analogy! Here I come. I'm driving a convertible, so people can jump in and come along on the ride.
  • What a good comparison to our better way.
  • mrmauriocrawford
Eric, your confidence and swagger is amazing. We really do have a better way. Thanks for showing me this.
  • Jeroen Lingier
As some others already said: great analogy between mlm and going in the wrong direction.
Well spoken, Eric, now let's go tell the world, because we have a better way.
From Flanders/ Belgium, this is jeroen Lingier
  • Somebody has to go against the current or a lot of the greatest things known to man would have never been accomplished. Thanks Eric.
  • Be a contratrian. Believe they are going the wrong direction.
    Great analogy.
Reminds me of the Wendy's commercial when the red head follows the whole crowd until he close to the edge of the cavern they are all falling into. He has an "ah-ha" moment, (defining moment), does an about-face and thinks there must be something better (belief). He joyfully goes against the grain (enthusiasm), like the one way street, but he runs toward the better way. (action) Others join him (Belief is reinforced) and follow too, (results).
  • kristibateman
Amen Eric. We Have A Better Way.
  • Jodi
Love going in the other direction.....well said Eric.

    Thank you!!
  • sjwilliamson
I like the idea of going the opposite to everyone else
  • Jessi
It's a stone cold fact: we've got a better way!
  • juanfernandogutierrez
I am going in the right direction I agreed with you, loved the analogy
  • A great analogy Eric and one that everyone in network marketing should embrace. It was also good timing for me as I was on a very busy one way street last week with a lot of aggressive drivers honking and shouting. I think I even caught site of someone flipping the bird. But today I don't care! Thanks.
  • KeithN
Great analogy about being UnCommon. Us going "the wrong way" with conviction, is actually the Right Way. As Eric always says, "We've got a Better Way".
  • enrique62
    A better way
  • Bryan_in_KC
Beautiful analogy. Yep, people will yell at you, think you're nuts etc., but at some point you won't have to dodge as much traffic, the traffic flowing against you will lighten up and, as you said, you will get your own lane. But here's the thing.... the lane can get BIGGER and WIDER and you are able to move against traffic even more freely over time!
  • raybeattie
Accepting what we have is a better way makes trqaveling against the stream much easier.
  • travelprohawaii
Yes anytime you look in history the crowd is almost always wrong! If the herd is on its way to slaughter should we be following it? The answer is a big fat NO! Thanks Eric.
  • Very good analogy Eric
  • eddyoshaughnessy
Brilliant , brilliant , - the road less travelled !
  • Ryan
Way to create Eric! It's no wonder you are in the position you're in. AWESOME!
  • Normal is definitely not as much fun in life. Enjoy being different and you will have a great time doing it.
  • What a great analogy! I never wanted to be like everyone else and I never will be! Thanks Eric!
  • Great video, I could almost smell the hot pretzels roasting!
  • Pepeneto
Yes we have a better way...Certanly we do...Thank you...Eric you are a great mentor.
  • MarvinTowler
Every great achievement was made by an "uncommon" person.
  • rayrios
We are Uncommon and we like it. Being uncommon has kept me away from the J.O.B for 10 years now!!!! Thanks for re-affirmation Eic.
  • quincy
Great example Eric. Go in the opposite direction of the masses and we will be successful.
  • There is only one way to travel and it is not the road less traveled, it is the road with the most resistance! Love the video!! Thanks for all you do Eric!!
    Josh and Margaux
  • I believe that We must be UNCOMMON to achieve any type of success in our lives. If it comes any other way it will not be long lasted or sustainable. Thanks for the visualization and the concept of going against the crowd in this video.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed
  • turjcxg
That's a fantastic visual! I never thought of it that way. Guess getting used to the discomfort has to be a conscious part of my learning in this profession! Thank you again Eric for such great teaching!
  • DianaValdez
I have gone against the current all my life. Why not once more? I'm used to it!!! ;D
  • ralph
Eric that was great I really liked les brown the other day but the smile on your face and this concept just hit home. I want to thank you soo much for what your doing I hope one day to shake your hand and thank you for all that your doing, best wishes ralph&Jaime from florida
  • Tarashon Broomes
create your own lane because the system is broken and network marketing works
  • drpricedc
Trapped. What a perfect analogy. Earl Nightingale said that if you wanted to know how to be successful at something, and had no mentors or role models to follow, then the quickest way to success would be to pay attention to what everyone else is doing.....and do the opposite, because the MAJORITY IS ALWAYS WRONG! Go the wrong way!!!!
  • fc34615
Cold fact, we have got a better way.
  • Cee_G
Yes, the system as we know it is certainly "broken". And yes, we do have a better way.
  • Great analogy!

It is fun to swim up stream. More people that tell me I am crazy the harder I work.
  • Great job Tyler! Thanks for sharing that with us.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed
  • susanclark
#257 - We Are UNCOMMON - Accept the fact that we are going in the right direction despite what other people say. By accepting this fact, we will move forward in an uncommon way because we are uncommon. Everybody else can just watch us unless they get with it and follow us.
  • Lorraine
What a great analogy. I love the visual. I get it.
  • To be different doesn't mean to be wrong - every greate idea starts from the support of the minority.
  • odelya45
Thank you so much Eric, that was a great video and a great creativity. I'm soooo proud to go on that direction and to be a part of it!!!
  • TAbrams
Great example of what we do in this profession every day... Love it!! Everyone needs to show a "little attitude" and be proud of what they are doing...

Don't let anyone knock you outta the game!!! We are an uncommon type... and common equates to boring and the norm... Not for me!!

    We have a better way!!
  • Love it! I just hope no one takes you literally!
  • tambry
Great analogy Eric. Create your own lane.
  • It's scary at first going the "wrong" way on a one-way street until you get the hang of it and everyone gets out your way O_o
  • Maxwellhealth
Indeed....I would imagine virtually all of us were part of the lemming rush for the cliff, but recognized that there is a "Better Way", because going over the cliff like most others is just not our idea of "Freedom" nor a particularly enjoyable journey....
  • Great analogy Eric
  • HoracioMejia
Exactly Eric: The idea that I use is that we are from another planet. People say to me: "You are different". I have felt like I am from another planet sometimes. With Network Marketing, now I feel I finally met the people from my planet. I feel home. Now I have to start acting like them. We are no sheep to be just following. We are leaders to be followed.
  • steve_weaver1
Solid. It's why I must become More - in order to show the way to others in a more powerful compelling fashion.
  • dlinkhart
I have to disagree with the analogy. I think it would have been better to pick one that would not be against the law to implement. Going the wrong way on a one way street is against the law.
  • ericworre
But what if someone turned all the signs around and all the other people were actually going the wrong way but they didn't know it?
  • francis
great one! yes! i am heading the opposite direction...but there's so much up there that most people has not seen!
  • julie67
Perfect way to show this concept. It is like they are looking thru different glasses than we are. They can't see what we see. We have to power. We have the freedom.
  • PaulineP
Great analogy....and keep on going! "These boots were made for walking..."
  • I love this analogy! Kind of like salmon swimming upstream. Nice work. I'm finding power in going the opposite direction.
  • Lisette
It can be difficult to go against all the others
    but SMILE,
because, what you give is what you get.
And maybe, some people wonder why you are smiling,
and will follow you, to find out!
  • crwood1967
WOW, great analogy! Sometimes you put is so simply! I just can't thank you for just putting it out there!
  • gkamlm
Keep them coming, really enjoying the program.
  • racingworm
Good message Eric. I think we do what we do because we want those horns honking, eh. ( no i'm not Canadian) Like Randy said, get out of your comfort zone.
  • orlyalbo
No doubt - we have a better way!
  • Great show Eric!!! Creativity shows it all!

    Thanks.

    NOTES:
What it is that we do in NM: What we do is, we get into our vehicle and we go the opposite direction down that street. What if I go the right direction and everyone is going the wrong direction?

Accept the fact that we're going that way when everybody else is coming this way. It will make my life easier for the next 25 years.

Get into my vehicle and go THAT direction! And in time other people will join and I'll create my lines.

NO! They're wrong, and we're right!!!
  • ybimbalanced
It's a stone cold fact, we're going the right way! Thanks Eric
  • BetterCoffee.dk
    Great point!

So good to get that affirmation!
  • gloriavintila
Posture can create new lanes. Due to your posture, other people will follow you driving in those lanes. Good metaphor.
  • YOUR GOING THE WRONG WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just like John Candy and Steve Martin did in Planes Trains and Automobiles! LOL!!! congrats on your one year anniversary Eric.
  • christinaglazar
Wonderful tape - I really enjoyed today's metaphor - and I keep going the other direction!!!
  • Earl
I like that, Eric! Find a better way and follow it, even if it is the opposite way most people are doing it!

Did you notice at about 2:29-2:31 (in the video) while you are talking about going the "better way" (against the flow of traffic) there is a cab with a sign on top that says "Be Stupid." going with the flow of traffic. Did you plan that out? ;) That was great timing as always!

    Earl
  • Hi Eric - a great and timely video that once again hits the spot.

My belief is strong and I am continuing to top it up by attending events and tuning into NMPro every weekday. I've also just read Don Failla's excellent book - the 45s presentation that will change your life.

That said, it's sooo easy for the dream stealers and common people to gang up on you and suddenly rock your world. I had a massive challenge to my confidence and commitment the morning after a full day of positivity when my spouse ambushed me straight after waking up and asked me to just drop the whole MLM thing - I've not even started yet ;-)

I calmly offered that I'm never quitting and rolled over - but God was I cross and disappointed. The lesson? You need to stay close to the fire and choose who you spend your time with. Oh, and of course you need a strong "why?". As I got out of bed and walked to the 0615 train for a full days work which brought me home at 1945 after a train problem - I had my why brought back into sharp relief.

It's amazing that the world has not yet figured out the horror to come from this recession in 2010. I'm ready to help them see the promised land when they are but the price of entry is getting higher in terms of their commitment. I've no time for passengers - or 0615 trains and 12 hour days ;-)
  • bethascoli
Hey Brad, that's a great book, I learned a lot from it when I first came across it a couple years ago.

I know about those 12 hour days and long commutes - and I've also experienced extreme negativity from people close to me. I would just encourage you to hang in there and know that we are all here to support you. I know you won't quit on yourself, and neither will I. I won't quit on myself, you, Eric, or anyone else in this community. We have a better way and we deserve it!
  • pollyhulseman
We are going against the traffic - great analogy!
  • seija
Interesting analogy - going against the traffic
  • This is all part of making it fun. Thanks Eric.
  • hillin
The last shot on the building was powerful. Looking at Mr Worre in Manhatan I was wondering how it feels like to be in the middle of the street or even waking up and knowing that you are a man who is making 1 00 000 dollars a month?
  • I like this concept, be an uncommon, i always like to be an uncommon, yes let's tell the world we have a better way. thank you Eric, really amazing video........
  • Who wants to be common anyway?
  • affe56
This is maybe the reason why we cant count on "being accepted" by a market that goes in OUR opposite direction .
Thinking of a scene in "Midnight express " where the main actor turns and walk in the opposite direction of the other fools ...
  • Bjorgli
We are uncommon, but it's not dangerous. It's just a better way.
  • janetrajala
That's right! As Les Brown has said, "the 40-40 plan no longer works".
  • What a beautiful way to show us the reality Eric. It feels good to be uncommon....feel good nah nah nah nah nah I feeeeeel Gooood. Thank God it's Monday....miss ya my friend. Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • brigittapatel
That made me smile. I have always been different a little crazy.
Now i have to believe that it is the right way.
    Thanks a million.
  • hcapcarp
I prefer to view it as floating while others hold on to what appears guarenteed and like NY City traffic move at a snails pace.
    Thank you for the analogy
  • That's good Eric... and it really drives home the point that we really do have to ACCEPT the fact that we ARE uncommon in this industry, as hard as that may be to hear and to accept.
We just have to remember that even though we're "uncommon" and in the minority, we DO have a better way.
    Great show Eric!
  • You have a choice - if you see everyone go one direction but you see just a few people go in another direction - follow the few people. If you follow the masses chances are you will end up going the wrong way.
  • wow! what a great visual to describe how someone can understand why then get questions and negative from their friends when they believe what they are doing is so good. Wow, keep getting impressed every day Eric, thanks!
  • gillym1
Just so right Eric! I have been on exactly that Street corner in NYC and the feeling you get of being in the middle of the 'Rat Race' is incredible! I really wanted to get out of it! Fortunately for me and many others - we are finding the 'better way'!
  • Hi Eric! Yes, we are going in the opposite direction of everone else and It's so exciting! The more I work, work, work the more I'll appriciate when it all will pay off. Thanks Eric! / Linda, Sweden
  • rmonte
Going against traffic is way better then drifting through life with out any clue of where we will end up. We can choose the life we want to live!!!1 Thanks Eric
  • Mailen
It is so right Eric. And to show us in pictures is so much så better than just speak about it.
I am telling my self that I am going in the right direction.
    With love from Norway.
  • gmeyerson
thanks Eric it does feel like we are moving against the flow a lot of the time, but we keep persevering.
  • Kjell Englund
That´s the way it is. But we have a lot of fun on our trip in the opposite direction. An amazing trip =)
  • If we were taking the analogy literally, this could also be what is one of the root problems with Network Marketing being accepted by the "main stream". That is----Getting in people's way that don't want to go your direction.
  • alltheverybest
You are a clever guy Eric! This forum is SO awesome. The messages you get across are true pearls but I get almost as much from reading the replies of all these great people you have commenting! You obviously knew it would work like that! More power to your elbow!
    Thanks again
  • ericworre
Yes, the community here is our secret weapon! :)
  • dstfa96
Thanks Eric! You are right we who are in the network marketing profession are going in the right direction and pretty soon the naysayers and people who laugh at what we do and say we are crazy will realize that we have a better way and they will start to follow us and realize they were the ones who were going the wrong way all this time.
  • Amen! The time is never right. Fate is in our own hand, only IF you want it (badly) enough. ;-)
Network marketing is nothing just similar like insurance but WE do much more than that. We 'sell' dreams, hope and a 2nd chance.
  • garyparmenter
Yes, we are uncommon! Going the wrong direction in many peoples minds. How exciting showing them a knew way! Thanks Eric
  • Marion
    What a great analogy
    Thank You, I love it.
  • Great analogy Eric, thanks for posting this. Once heard a quote I liked: " I will do today what other people won't- so I can have tomorrow what other people won't.". We have to learn and accept that we are "uncommon" in what it is we do. It is right that we DO have a better way.
  • The choice is go against the flow or act as lemmings heading for a cliff with little chance of actually realizing your dream. You cannot see what you do not believe.
  • teambodie
Episode 48 of Eric Worre's 100 Episode Throw Down Challenge:

Interviews with top trainers like Gage, Fogg, Mackay, Brown, etc and now this AMAZING demonstration of how to be an effective NM Pro... And I thought the wave runner episode was great. This is a wonderful example why, for me personally, the short lessons you provide us are my favorite episodes. Eric, you are a natural teacher. Thank You for being ours.

    BB
  • Nancy Eldred
Great pep talk - thanks Eric

Amen! we do have a better way. I accept the challenge!
Great annoligy, going against the traffic on a one way street.Eric, your the greatest!
  • Who says we're going the wrong way? We love what we do and thank you Eric for reminding us how special this business is. We have the privilege of being able to show those that will listen a different way of life; different than 9 to 5. Yes, we are different and uncommon; how awesome. We were probably the kids that drew outside the lines too. When you think about it, any one who ever achieved greatness was perceived as "different". As the saying goes, "you become who you hang out with the most", I'm proud to be a part of this group.
  • Great post about those who achieved greatness were ALL perceived as different Gingerva. Those that say we're going the wrong way are those who are "the common-man". Isn't it great to be "uncommon".
  • rasdaniels
How creative!!!! This is wonderful....We are uncommon people going in the right direction. Freedom is going the wrong way down a one way street. Create our own lane.
  • Judith Atkinson
Great message and fantastic way to illustrate it.
  • I like the the way you put that Eric I never looked at it that way. We have people out here working 40 some 50 hour weeks and for what to retire and having to come out of retirement just to survive. We have a better way lets tell the world.
  • ritafulton
    Eric,

I Love it! Love it! Love It! What a perfect way to illustrate our journey as NWM Pro's.

    Thank you.
  • Great Message Eric!
I have several downline who are not doing too well in their business.
This message I will email to them today!
    Thank you Eric
  • MattinJaxfl
Great analogy Eric! I think I have been going the wrong way most of life. I have always tried things and done things counter to what others thought was "right". Where I used to get in trouble is I tried to push, push, push against the current. Now I have finally figured out to go that "wrong way" patiently with confidence and let things happen. Keep up the great work!
  • Eric, LOVE your visual analogy! After college, I was one of those 'trapped' in one of those buildings in NYC working for an advertising agency.

A lot of people spending 34 - 40 years for what? A gold watch and a kick out the door.

    Thanks, Eric!
  • Ahhh that is why I have felt so comfortable with my career in network marketing...I chose the path of the uncommon woman! Yup that would be me...and yes it is always fun to go against the stream....really powerful story Eric especially with all those concrete and steel buildings packed full of unhappy people...shopping at Saks...walking in the sunshine....much better idea!
  • GERMAN JARAMILLO
Yes!!!! We are uncommon people...Yesterday i met my cousin in a mall. She told me..."i'm very tired...my job is so hard at this time and but this that i have to do because i don't have any options"....She knows i'm a networker but she dosn't like this profesion. After i said good bye to her i stayed thinking.....she is in the same way around 90% of the people. Why?

Why do you think people can open their eyes?

The only thing i know is...We are in the right way!!!

A special greeting from Cali, Colombia,

    -GJ
  • Alf
I shall be telling this with a sigh
    Somewhere ages and ages hence:
two roads diverged in a wood, and I --
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
    ROBERT FROST
  • Great little quote, Alf. Will share that one from Robert Frost.
  • Edith Kohler
    Thanks Eric,
the way you show it,makes it so clear
Whenever I'll think of this now,I can play this movie in mind
So it reminds me ,when I need it ,this is the right direction
  • Nice analogy big guy. The message of the day reminds me of Earl Nightingales “The Strangest Secret” in which he states:

“Here’s a little rule of thumb you might want to remember; whatever the great majority is doing under any given circumstance, if you’ll do exactly the opposite you’ll probably never make another mistake as long as you live”

    and

“The problem with most people is that they’re playing the world’s most unrewarding game… and the name of the game is follow the follower”
  • artdlasvegas
Hey Eric, we are a face to face business so what better way to be face to face with people then walking into a croud. This way your talking to their faces instead of the backs of their heads.
  • onemartymac
Perfect analogy... No wonder I love this industry. I have done that all my life! Thanks
  • Alf
Ha ha now I see why people think I am still different. I was different before though I had no money no house , no job , no freedom , no nothing and now they think I am going the wrong direction.
Sixt avenue north direction (?) will be my way , hahaha Thank you Eric !
  • Steve_Nelson
All those people crowded together driving down a one way street... that's called sheeple. Do you want to be like those sheeple? Or do you want to be in the few and far between, independently successful people?

"Ba aa aa, you're going the wrong wa aa ay!" That's what they're going to say to us!

Hope everybody has a great week!
  • Hai
Great example... also in my fav. town to play and see all the broadway shows!
I would like to add--it is not right or wrong way. I prefer to see that we as NMPro have chosen to take the uncommon path vs the common path in our career. It takes courage to be UNCOMMON when others rather follow "that one way arrow" that may not lead them where they want. NMPro are the UNCOMMON WARRIORS to lead an uncommon path to live with better choices. Thanks Eric! You're awesome!
  • Denise Cox
ahhh!! cyn!!! great to see you! i want to hold the camera when you come to denver!!!
  • Pete
    Great analogy
  • kgoren
Pretty powerful stuff. I'll have to go back and listen to this often to remind me that it's ok to go against the grain. And that soon others will open their eyes and realize that going against the grain is a better choice.
  • Tina Perdue
It is nice to think of being more a hero than a nut.
  • patrickmcfeely
How many times have i been told I was going the wrong way I'm not going the wrong way they are.
Thank you for your time Eric
  • cmattern
This is right on! Getting it into your mind that the 40, 40, 40 plan doesn't work is where it starts. Just hope nobody takes you literally and starts driving a real car the wrong way down a real street!
  • Connie Tolton
Great way to start my day.

  • smreed
    What a great perspective Eric!

Here is another perspective I've encountered. You are stuck with the masses in traffic. You notice that you can turn down a side street a few feet ahead and start moving again. A few people see you do this and follow you. Those are the people with the power to think outside the box and not just sit around waiting.
  • hpena
I was born very near sighted, I can only see about 3 inches in front of me, so most of my life I was going in the wrong direction and didn't even know it. I thought it was a curse.

Today I'm still near sighted, I only see Financial Freedom 3 inches in front of me, so I'm still going the "wrong way". My curse is now truely a blessing.

  • ericworre
    LOVE this! :)
  • I'm going baby! Success is INEVITABLE!

    Fired Up and Focused!
    Alex Tita
    here as promised.
  • Great analogy. Hard to do consistently, but necessary.
  • bethascoli
I think this is why it's important to get people plugged into events right away, most people are not comfortable yet with the idea of going against the grain, so in the beginning they need to see that there are other people who are going down that street with them. Those of us who have been around longer and have listened to personal development are more comfortable with the idea of doing things differently, so we need to provide support for new people while they adjust their thoughts from the programming they have received all their life! It took me a long time to be ok with the idea that my life wasn't going to be "normal" - now the idea of having a normal life scares the crap out of me!
  • I agree with Brad, you do Rock!
thanks again for putting together and offering the book list on the fan page, that's so cool!
  • Great post Beth - you rock!
  • bethascoli
    You guys are awesome :)
  • mbryant
Right on, Eric! Great analogy. 95% of the world is programmed to to 40/40 plan. They accept it. I do not. thank you for helping to validate many of us!!
  • jerryscribner
Eric, we do have a better way, period. Swim upstream!!
  • Gakungu
Thank you Eric for the interesting analogies. In network marketing, you will come across a lot of wet blankets. But if you believe what you are doing, you will simply brush them off.
  • yuvalcohen
    Thanks Eric
Just did a conversation with my Daonlein, talk to him on points, significantly. To go against what others think, believe in yourself, network marketing company
  • jeffreyhall
Puts a new meaning to out of your comfort zone!
  • hlj521
I love how literal your illustrations are to bring home the message. We do have a better way. One thing I have learned is that as you begin your journey down the street going against the traffic is to continue and not let anyone make you turn back around and get back in their flow! Stay the course and keep going!
    Thank you Eric!
  • soxfan071
Going against traffic will get you noticed for sure. Showing others that it is better is the key. Keep moving in a different direction and improve your life and other people will take notice and follow. The other important trick is not to get run over in the process.
    Thank you! Eric
  • Mark
Look out world! I'm coming through!!! Honk!!
  • Katie N
Great analogy this morning. You always find a new way to make your point!
  • tomlacey
    Viva le difference!!!
  • That was a very good point, and I have accepted that today, but it is hard for most people in the beginning. It is very easy to turn around and go by main stream again. Not even your best friends will follow, because it is more comfortable to do like everyone else.
You have to do what most people don't want to to, to be able to do what most people can't.
I go against the traffic and the more proud I am doing so, the more people will follow me......thats a fact, and Yes - we have a better way....
  • maariee
I definitely choose the opposite direction. I never want to go in the common direction ever again. Very Inspiring! Thank you Eric
  • I've recently read about this concept also Eric in the book Tribes. Leaders make the choice to be different, and go against the grain or "the norm". I totally understand what your saying!! ;) I like the way you have put this into a visual setting ;)
  • We definately do have a better way, even when, and maybe infact BECAUSE we go the opposite direction !
  • karenandian
Thank you Eric. We would like to quote Michael Clouse "Everyone of us is unique" - this applies to Network Marketing, it is definitely different than what the common people do - Unique!
  • ulla99
Yes, I love to walk in opposite direction!
  • peterburrows
Perish the thought of sitting in one of those buildings for......40 YEARS ! HELP !!!!
I'm at home watching this, looking out at clear blue skies and last night I made money in my sleep.
    Better way....?
    The only way !
  • love it eric
we are uncommon and we have a better way
  • I have always been uncommon, glad to know I am part of an uncommon group.
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
How uplifting to have, as one of our leaders, an individual who connects with us in such inspirational, aspirational, non-traditional, new-conceptual ways and levels (and in such interesting locations).

This little treat from Eric (NMPRO #257) points the way towards our success in network marketing.
Our future success requires us to think differently, to stand out in the crowd, to invite like-minded people to join us or to work, to better communicate our way of thinking to others who may just ‘get it’, who may wish to join us on this wonderful journey, to change their lives and live the livestyle of which they dream – to help change the way our prospects think.

    And who can do this?.....ANYBODY!
ANYBODY can step out of their comfort zone, can become, as Eric puts it, uncommon – can travel against the trends, apparently doing things the wrong way...yet WE HAVE A BETTER WAY.
A N Y B O D Y can be successful if we learn and act, sow the seed, keep going – however uncomfortable it may, at times, feel. Feelings, like frustration, are all in our minds. ANYBODY can learn to think differently...and better. Take control - of YOU!

    I(v)NY

    Thanks again Eric
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
Hi Eric, nice video, it is true, most of us hate our job and should create our own 'lane of freedom'.
Let us hold on to the people who have really seen the opportunity and take pride in being part of NM. (and ofcourse show 'our better way' to more people)
    good job Cynthia. best regards
  • jodygr
It is boring to be common. It is fun being uncommon. Doing things differently, not just following the crowd. Being CREATIVE!
    Thanks for the visual message!
  • MagnusEdvald
Good. The important think is to know where we are and where we are going.
  • lauralopez
    Hello Eric
I agree with you for me is not important that the people say that I am crazy
I follow my dreams and I hope very soon come true

The system is broken, why is that?

Because the corporate world does not care about you. As soon as you are expendable you are out.

As Les so profoundly put it last week "what we have in network marketing is cooperation and collaboration of people working together in a community of achievers to help everybody win".

That is what makes our profession of network marketing so amazing, everybody can win. It's not just about one person winning or a few people winning, the focus is for everybody to win. TEAMwork.

In Network Marketing you are looking for people who are better than you, how cool is that. In corporate you would not do that in a million years and thereby lays the flaw. Corporates will stagnate while NM companies will thrive. The day has come, the tipping point is now.

I say to people never ever give up on this business, you have come this far, you already have seen a better way don't waste that opportunity.

    Have a great week prospecting.
    Very kind regards
    Peter Ragg
  • Asked a mum on Sunday how work was going (IBM) - "They're changing the pension rules and just made 800 staff redundant on Friday" - it's a coming...
  • veronikakari
By car I would not go agains the streem, but in my doing, I am dare to be different.
  • Foord Yates
    Gotta love NYC.
    Great message, Eric.

    Talk soon.

    Foord Yates.
  • wouterdeprez
Great analogy, i will remeber this in difficult times!
  • I like the way you illustrated the 'trapped people' by showing the offices. Also it shows that there are SO many people to talk to!
  • Erik
    Great illustration :)
  • beckydesabah
Yes we do go on the opposite direction. . . visionaries and revolutionaries always do.
  • mariasiro
Wow, that is so true!!! Great, I have to make my people see this one!
  • rosslopez
Don't be afraid to go on the opposite direction!
Everybody else will go into your direction when they notice that's the best and the only way =o)

    Love this message Eric
    Hugs from Mexico
  • marvalouslife1
Iwas living in NYC for few years.
thank you for reminding me my favorit city.

that's a great fell of freedom, to go against the flow.

  • martinvf
    WOW, what can I say???
This example realy cheers me up!!!
    Tks Eric

    Saludos from Aguascalientes, Mexico.
  • Great analogy Eric. I think this illustration can help a lot of people understand why they meet resistance. Yes, we are uncommon - and I love it!
  • yuvalcohen
    hii
    i can't open the clip
  • SJ Doug
Isn't it the truth, they are all going the wrong way on that one way street.
  • Eric, I hear it almost everyday. Why don't you just do what everyone else does! My answer is, because I have no desire to be like everyone else. Guess that's why I love Network Marketing so much.
  • talya_mitzafon
Brilliant idea. Strong message. I love it. Thank you Eric.
  • Thank you, Eric!!, I love the visual explanation. It is ALL....so much clearer now.
  • Great analogy and visual!!
  • What a great analogy and lesson. Where did that come from? Love it Eric!

It reminds me of watching my kids run up the travelators in the shopping mall (the wrong way). Reactions vary, especially when it's a crowded day. They kept egging me on to do it with them and I always said no. One day I actually did it, saying "excuse me, excuse me" and BAM, there is was. Some people smiling but most frowning and making smug remarks.
Do try it. It's a lot of fun.
PS: Mall security personnel don't like it but even one of them had a giggle under his breath :).
  • coltsco
I love being common among the uncommon. The uncommon are the best with which to surround yourself!
  • Well, that´s good news because I've always gone against the flow and withstood a lot of criticism. I didn't know I was a natural NM Pro!
  • What a great analogy, going opposite the flow, opposite the traffic, is what we are doing in network marketing. I believe it was Bob Proctor that says when he stands outside an office building in Manhattan at lunch hour and watches which way all the people go upon exiting the building - he recommends you go the opposite way. March to a different drummer, be unique and follow your passion. Eric, your comment that after a while - - people will begin to say "maybe he knows something, maybe we should follow him" is so true. Be the leader - - not the follower!
  • dougharkins
Against the flow to gather more! Great analogy.
  • theuns
    Hi Eric

Thanks , Yes we are swimming up stream it is nor easy but it makes you stronger and on the end we will live longer .LOL but yea we will cos we will not have the stress that the other people have that sit on the 40 /40 plan as Les put it
  • Darrick
    Hey Eric,
This Is It !!! You are making Network Marketing Easy to Understand.
    Thanks ---DG
  • rayrios
It's a stone cold fact; we have a better way! I have been away from the J.O.B. rat race for 10 years thanks to Network Marketing....You are soooo RIGHT!
  • rayrios
Definetly is the right thing to do, otherwise, CONFORM!!!!....... Not!
  • dave s
I have two list. The first is of those who i want to share my opportunity with. The second is of those who said I was crazy for driving down the wrong way. I just want to ensure I remember to send everyone a post card from my dream home on the beach.
  • caronwashington
Eric....we r uncommon people doing uncommon things to achieve results that are uncommon. Like Les Brown said, we have an uncommon desire to control our destiny. We have a better way
  • Welcome to Canada, even though your are as far away from where I live as you can get. Hope you enjoy. Thanks for everthing. You have been amazing in my journey.
  • Arnold Thompson
Amen brother!! Go against the flow long enough and people will start to follow you which in turn will lead to success. See the vision and be a LEADER!
  • denisekay
Take a chance and be yourself... uncommon.
    God Bless us all.

  • carolbarrett
Uncommon we are Eric. Thanks for reminding me that we are going in the right direction.
  • Alfie
We are uncommon, and ab (above) normal. =)
  • We are going the right direction. I need to talk to more people who are going the wrong direction.. someday.
  • Great way to put it Eric.. You always come up with awesome videos!
  • was just there today! Would love to meet up with you next time you are in town.
  • tyroneholmes
Thanks Eric....going against traffic I had never thought of this industry like that. But it is so true.
  • claralondono
Hola Paco estoy de acuerdo contigo.. no somos estupidos..somos valientes y visionarios y dispuestos a ser diferentes en pos del sueño personal...gracias
  • claralondono
excellente Eric...going against traffic it is and you show us that there is light on the other side in a 1 to 7 year plan.. Thanks again.
  • love the analogy and it's true, common equates to mediocre at best.
  • donham298
Ok I love to be uncommon
  • billrogers
Once again Eric you have shown another example of what we are up against. Oh, the rewards when we percevere.
  • drmikempa
    I am uncommon.
  • jpmendoza
No longer waiting for people to turn around & join me, I will continue to go up stream.
  • jlconner
Eric, never thought of it that way but you are correct. I need to get my attitude straight and keep it straight. Thanks again for your wisdom and encouragement.
  • timandtrcia
If we all can shine the light we'll soon turn it into a one-way street to prosperity.
  • Oh my Eric, that was right on point! Wish I'd heard that about a year ago, I could have enjoyed my time so much more. :-) It is so true that when you go against the way that other people believe you're automatically wrong, crazy, insane, whatever they want to call you. I think as long as we believe that we're on the right track for ourselves and don't let anyone come between us and that belief we can really start having fun with this business. While it's true not everybody sees the benefits of our industry over their J.O.B.'s the reality is that more & more people every day are realizing that what they're doing now stinks! Opportunities are everywhere if you've got your sites set right.
    Best,
    Carrie Hogue
  • Ria Leermakers
I like the idea of being different! Struggling does't mean its the wrong idea i am following. I will keep up!
  • Jillian
Another great concept in living color!
  • anthonyviglietta
Brilliant Eric! Your videos always pump me up! It sure does feel like I'm going one way and everyone else is going the other. All my friends and such think that I'll never make it in network marketing. It's almost like I want to succeed to prove them all wrong more than making a lot of money. But the money will sure be nice as well!
  • Dee_Canada
LOVE it!! it's so where my head has been lately...recognizing that others just haven't been taught a better direction. We HAVE it!!

Thanks Eric...Enjoy Halifax...please give Ivan a big Congatulatory hug from Calgary!!
  • As a senior citizen was driving down the freeway, his car phone rang. Answering, he heard his wife's voice urgently warning him, "Herman, I just heard on the news that there's a car going the wrong way on Interstate 77. Please, be careful!"

"Heck!" said Herman, "It's not just one car... it's HUNDREDS of them!!!"
  • bryantkeefe
    Great analogy Eric.
  • eabus
Great analogy but just let's try to be the truck, not the bike going up traffic.
  • Great video Eric! Its all about being uncommon, and putting your blinders on! Instead of going down the road of mediocrity, we are going down the road of success and freedom!
  • The Road Less Traveled ... a great place to be! If we want to have what others can't have (their choice), we need to do what others won't do!

Great visuals, Eric. Reminds me of a DVD I watched with Mark Yarnell where he was paragliding as he talked about the miserable masses fighting the traffic below ...

    Best to you,
    Scott
  • bartonmurray
Uncommon, just trying to do ordinary things extra-ordinarily well!!!
  • Paco_Carreno
We are Uncommon! We may seem to be crazy... BUT we are not stupid!

If you are comfortable: you are socializing and reacting to what life brings you
If you are uncomfortable (like we'd be driving in the other direction): you are growing

Let's start our lane... maybe we'll have to start it by bycicle... SOON we'll have a bunch of Network Marketing HUMMERS circulating!
