wooooow, you are so amaizing ..... thanks for show me this learning in this fantastic way!!! Regards.
  • Jonathan
Eric - justt another solid reminder as to why our profession still has plenty of work to do with people that think they can just jump in and think they'll hit the lotto overnight haha. Not going to happen.
  • aliceflanders
For me it is passing books.
  • wealthandriches
Thanks for the reminder Eric. Learning the skills necessary and keep going until you reach the income level you want.
  • heatherbrocklehurst
Excellent analogy! So true. We need to show people the right way to look at this business.
  • yitz613
What would we pay for a lottery ticket that we could keep on scratching until we won. That is what we have in our business. We just have to realize it and do it.. One by one... One person at a time, one day at a time until.................................................................................................we and our team wins.
  • mspaulamc
I am revisiting episodes I missed... not sure how this one got past me .. one of the best ever!!! Loved the analogy and agreed .. the lottery mentality HAS to stop.. I am committed to my part... thanks Eric .. love this one!
  • JenniferDu79
Amazing analagy. It really helps drive the point home. I'm going to get the skills to keep scratching. (wow that would sound really weird to someone who didn't watch it)
  • Bea Resnick
Unlimited numbers? Hmm! This was really a fantastic analogy. I'm going be using it! (I know - give you credit once, then it's mine! Thank you!)
  • GREAT analogy....it would have been kinda funny if you would have scratched off a million $ winner! lol
  • I love this story. I have watched it and sent it to those I are iinvolved in my business and will continue to do so....
  • Donna Wheaton
Network Marketing is not a Lottery or a get rich quick thing. MLM works.
  • I fully agree. And that's why we, the networkmarketingPROFESSIONALS, have to shout from the roofs that we are PROUD to be networkmarketeers and that it is a PROFESSION. And we should also select more and to do that properly, we have to understand people and what drives them. Wrong drive, don't start them up.

Would have been fun though if you would have scratched a biggie. ;-)
  • nmpro4ever
    yes.agree with you on that.yes,definitely
  • jeanalbert
Another great explanation Eric. This one has got to be the best one yet!
  • feltricks
    The best example ever.
Changing that mentality we might have all the winners we need in order to become professionals.
    Thanks a lot.
  • Pepeneto
Great analogy...Let´s elminate the "Lottery Mentallity" from MLM
  • Lotta
Love the way you teach us.
  • Too many people are playing the Prospecting Lottery and trying to throw people against the wall to see who sticks. I have to admit. I did it before too when I first started years ago when I didn't know any better.
  • Ngoc Tran
Wonderful message and wonderful Eric. Thank you so much! :)
  • Awesome man... love your stuff...
  • nikigombis
I think the odds would be in my favor with my company because they don't charge me extra for more chances.
  • gjt
    wow something to think about
  • robbinsaturniewicz
The biggest problem with people is they're quitters, it might be more of an American problem.
  • Luis (Pelon)
Couldn´t comment the past episode because of server trouble don't know why, we are already NM in the way to become pro, today it is still our B option hoping that soon in the near future it becomes our plan A.

We never had the lottery mindset, we really saw the opportunity and we have great sponsors and they have always told us that we can succeed if we work like it is our job and our bussines.
  • chriskemp817
I agree. Most people give up after about 5 to 10 no's thinking it doesn't work.
  • Irina
    Great analogy!
    Thank you Eric.
  • Dylan Cooper
First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you. Then you win.

    Mahatma Gandhi
  • Inger
If you want something to happen in your BUSINESS it starts with the right mindset with HARD WORK!
  • meagankellytorres
So true! It's ridiculous how some people view our business. It needs to change and it starts with you and me.
  • Tony
"Unlimited numbers until you win". I Love that.
  • coltsco
Great analogy and unfortunately so true about many people's mindset. Let's all work to change that perception.
  • I love this!

The key to MLM success. Keep on scratching!
  • CarlosVera
Cristal clear. Keep scratching guys, we all know it's not easy, but as long as we do it persistently and we make a clear difference between the posers and the real pros, the big bucks and financial freedom will come..........
  • briankaywilson
Eric, You always do such a great job! It is people like you who help us to know that we will have an incredible business if we just work everyday! We can use this to our new distributors who lack confidence in themselves.
  • pech
Great comparison. I can use it. Thank you.
  • Daniel Glez.Peña
Hola Eric, We need to work and work and work a lot to our business.
    Saludos.
    Daniel y Natali,Querétaro,México.
  • The difference between an industry of dreamers and the growing number of proffessionals is what is making network marketing a worthwhile proffession. This is happening to a great extent because of this daily training. This is due to your growing legacy Eric. Keep on smiling.... :-)
  • Very true. It's interesting how general population view this industry as a whole and think it's not really a business...
  • Alfie
    Great analogy. Very educational.
  • Mark from Germany
Funny, creative, insightful, valuable .. another good one, thank you.
  • This was a fantastic analogy of the lottery mentality that many people have in Network Marketing!!!! The stigma that comes with MLM is primarily due to the fact that a large majority of people are not willing to do the work that comes with going to the top in MLM. I loved this video! Keep Scratching Those Tickets Friends!!!
  • denagottlieb
Super message here!!! That's exactly how it works!
Thank you for explaining it so well.
  • Edith Kohler
    Nice explanation
  • bbollman
Great analogy. Too bad it's so true.
  • kgadol
Thank you for this. You are right on and I will be sharing it with our team. Blessings ...
  • Bernadette
too many people thing network marketing is a get rich quick business like winning a lottery ticket. although it can be, Network marketing is not get rich quick or get rich easy. It is get rich steady for those that don't give up.
  • Agneta Rebo
It´s the same with everything you have to work to make things happen.
  • Miguel Cortez
Thank for the win lotto ticket... :)
  • ronaldvandomburg
what a brillant metaphor and ..... I've got the message
  • Cindy Dower
I see this all the time and I have been just as guilty as the next guy. It takes consistent ACTION to make it work.
  • orlyalbo
This is precisely what people do. you point on it.
most of the people are not believe thay can achieve somthing by tham selfs,
Thay depend on luck. only luck.
  • happyhealthybob
I think that this is a great analogy
  • latachia_2
As you can dee,I already commented on this one,but there was not a comment section for today's(Fri)
It was nice getting to meet all of you that were on the video. Here, making my comments on every video,as promised, for 100 days!
  • I've heard you talk about the lottery mentality of many people joining our industry, this really puts it into the proper perspective, thank you!
  • this was a great one, thanks Eric !
  • What a hoot! Thanks for the clarity Eric!
  • PaulineP
    Powerful demonstration!
  • Darnell
That is excellent usage of a simple lottery ticket ppl play for years on end with very little success. It's not a game being in NM it has to be treated with seriousness and like a business. Glad to see you say though that although you may not find the one million right away with a few prospects the fact is you have a limitless supply until you find one so in the process you learn determination and persistance and improvement if you continue to stay in the business and not quit and speak poorly of how it's not the way to go. I disagree totally on that...NM is one of the ways to achieve financial success...
  • hpena
85% of lottery winners end in bankruptcy within 5 years. What that means is that YOU need to grow for your WEALTH to grow. For all those that won the lottery and lost it all, they didn't GROW as a person so their WEALTH went back down to their level.

Network Marketing not only creates wealth but develops you as a person so that you don't lose it all.

    Nando
  • ViktoriaGuerin
Eric, I love how all your examples are very creative. I would never think the same way myself and it is better to remember things this way. Thank you for it.
  • soxfan071
I don't know how but my post for this segment was posted on #257 and not on here. Thanks!
  • Jessi
    So true!
  • The lottery mindset exists in every business where the upside income potential is essentially unlimited...most people want "easy everything." You make good points that it has to stop
  • rosslopez
Treat this as a real business, keep scratching until you find the treasure, there is a big difference between being lucky and grow using the skilles learned to get the best results.

    Hugs from Mexico
    Rossana =o)
  • carolmcwilliams
When I began Network MArketing I didn't have the mind set that it was a quick rich venture at all. I knew it was work but I didn't realize all the inner and outer obstacles that I would have to learn and master. I do run across a few people here and there that are only concerned with making quick money and not building long term growth. I will use this analogy that this is not a lottery ticket to success.
    Thanks
  • DianaValdez
Excellent one! Exactly that's what happen. People treat NM as a lottery ticket and their prospects as the object that would bring them millions without moving a finger.
  • You're Great!
  • margarethockaday
    excellent analogy
  • gracecruz
I love it, one of your best - I am still scatching and scatching...
Hope your having a great birthday...
  • tambry
Keep scratching until you find some treasure/some results. Another good analogy from Eric.
  • martinvf
    Scratch til you win!!!

    Saludos from Aguascalientes, Mexico.
  • This is one of the most spot-on coaching tips about communicating the path to success in the industry that i have EVER heard!
  • Patience and consistency is key!
  • crwood1967
Nice example! Isn't that so true that most people do not believe this is a real job, and that it is just a "crap-shoot". If only most people would understand that this is a real job and if they only would work at it they could make what ever they wanted to.
  • jean_albert
    Great illustration
  • brianhepner
The lottery sign ups really do want other people to do the work. Funny
  • susanclark
#259 - The MLM Lottery - Stop treating your network marketing business like a lottery and start treating it like a business. We have the ability to scratch off an infinite number of prospects until we get results. A lottery ticket limits us to a few selections. What a great analogy!
  • gloriavintila
Another fantastic metaphor. Yet, I would say that just scratching an infinity of number won't lead very far unless you have a strategy, a structure. And what we learn through NetworkMarketingPro is how to develop this structure.
  • Great analogy. So true.
  • Jose Lopez
WOW! What a great illustration! I will never forget this one!
Indeed, this is the No. 1 "ISSUE" we face out there and that's what separates the pro from the amateur.
  • onemartymac
That is perfect... Thank you. Great analogy! Well done
  • mrmauriocrawford
This is one of the most hilarious episodes to date... It was so funny when Eric acted like the average person joining NM. LOL. I love how he put it though..."Imagine you have a lottery ticket w/ unlimited scratch off's/opportunities for you to scratch." OMG...Just keep Scratching....Just keep Scratching...LOL
  • sjwilliamson
    great comparison keep on scratching
  • veronikakari
Someone said, that people are should be better prepared when they are taken in. My problem as well, I think I have not been told the real thing.
  • Arnold Thompson
Keep scratching and scratching and scratching... until you win! If you scratch long enough, "it's a stone cold fact" :-) that you will win.
  • gkamlm
    Interesting illustration, thanks.
  • lauralopez
Wow Eric its a great example
    Thanks for share
    Regards

  • beckydesabah
    I cannot agree more...
So we will persist, keep scratching to win and with hard work we will make our way to success.
    That's the way NWM works.
  • I love this one Eric, what a sweet analogy. Those who persist and keep scratching will win, period.
  • Great video Eric. If you start introducing your prospects and new Team-members to this business by explaining that this is at least a one-year committment before doing evaluation, they will be better prepared. I use to compare with my education as a physical therapist: It took 4 yrs. full time studies, cost me $35 000 and my first salary was $2000!
The 1-3-5-7 is good to create realistic expectations.
  • juanfernandogutierrez
I LOVED THIS ANALOGY, PEOLPLE WHEN THEN JOIN A MLM COMPANY THEY THINK THEY ARE GOING TO GET RICH IN A MONTH; THIS IS A JOB, BUT THE BEST JOB IN THE WORLD!!
  • germarl
Thank you for a brilliant concept turned into reality with the best yet to come......
  • I never thought if it that way. The lottery mentality is prevalent in the minds of many. Everyone is focused on today and tomorrow. When was the last time you worked on something consistently over a long period of time? Everyone should spend a year on a farm to learn about hard work and delayed gratification.

We do give up too easily. We give our business a token effort and then blame the industry when it doesn't work. It certainly can't be our fault! It's time to take responsibility for our future. Our success and our failure are ours to bear. Lottery winnings are rare. You don’t have to be lucky to build a solid business and live a great life.
  • Eric, Bravo so... well put. To think I was once a Poser and almost let myself slip back to being one again. Thanks for the excellent analogy.
  • HoracioMejia
¿Are you expecting to get better or to get lucky? That is the difference between a Pro and an amateur, and that is an issue in which we need to be very careful when setting expectation for a new person in our organization.
  • jlt0wn
Good visualization. Simple yet effective way to make your point.
  • I love it, Eric! You have an awesomely unique ability to take network marketing concepts and simplify them with a visual experience. It is "sticky". Today's "lotto mentality" example will not only have a special place in my mind for when I get a little down, it most certainly will be shared. Thank you!
  • Tarashon Broomes
this is so true. people are so quick to say it doesnt work when they dont get results when they want or thought when they would get it. if people treated network marketing as a business they would understand that how the game works and that just have to be persistent, committed and consistent over a period of time and will yield some great results
  • latachia_2
Learn the skills of teaching your downline that this is a real business, not giving up,because they just showed a few people, explaining to them that it's a numbers game. And also teaching them the skills to use,as well.I love the anoligy of "lotto mentality"!
  • This is DEFINITELY already one of my favorite NMPro shows... it's sooo goood!!! Thanks for sharing! I'll definitely use this analogy over and over.
  • chipc
great analogy! I'll use it sometime.
  • That's hilarious yet so amazingly true.
  • Awesome Eric!! Like I always say, you come up with the greatest videos!!
  • Best analogy ever. Thanks for the illustration.
  • kristibateman
    I love that, MLM Lottery
Thank you Eric and I hear it's your birthday sometime soon..Happy Birthday
  • This is awesome I really like this illustration. This is so true. I have to admit that I have been a victim of this thought process. It has taken me watching this program to really understand how to change my thinking. Thank you.
  • caronwashington
People quit right before they're about to have major success. We're so used to having instant gratification and when they don't get it they leave. Good news travels fast and so does bad news. People are quick to pass judgement and have no idea of whats involved to build a business. As professionals, we have to have the determination, persistence and patience to look for people who are looking for us
  • Chuckle Chuckle....LOVE THIS...Can't wait for tomorrow! Happy Anniversary and thanks for doing as you say you are going to do which is the #1 rule with NM. Your dedication to the industry is so appreciated.
  • This is a phenomenal video. I love the analogy that you walk through.
Hope you enjoyed yourself in Halifax Canada! From your Canadian Follower!
Thanks for the greatness you share with us all.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed
  • dave s
Few fulfill their dream instantly and those who say they did often fail to mention they have worked and learned the business for years with other companies. Stay the course even when your best friend says no. In networking you will find many new friends.
  • keithraines
NM takes work and consistency. Definately not get rich quick
  • You're the best, Eric. You always deliver the truth with great entertainment value. I love your video about the MLM Lottery. I just entered a blog post aboput it on my website. www.MLMMobster.com.
  • racingworm
Loved It. Good example Eric, one for realizing that a lot of people treat our business like that. By the way, I wonder ,by the look on her face, what that cashier behind you was thinking.
  • tyroneholmes
    Thank You Eric. Great analogy...
  • raybeattie
Love the story. That will get used over and over again.
  • Great analogy!
    Thank you Eric.
  • karivankleef
Keep telling the story and tell the truth- what a great illustration.
  • karenandian
That was great Eric! You put things so that we understand them - so much quicker than scratching all of those spots! Halifax, NS - you are close to us - (not the same province, but in the Maritimes!) Thank you Eric.
  • Ellis3
Excellent illustration of the things we "join" every day that bring us no joy, fulfillment or true freedom already.
  • germarl
A great basic illustration of 'the facts of life' - brilliant....
  • barryburgin77
    I get it.
  • HaHa, Eric- You are too funny! But I love the "truth analogy" that you presented. It is SOOOOOO true that most people when they get their ID number they figure that is the number that will get them to a million dollars.
I quit buying 649 tickets some time ago!! Great video and thanks.
  • tomdoiron
    Hi Eric,
I am so glad you mentioned that we as the promoters of Network Marketing need to stop presenting it as a lottery. If we don't, then we get what we are asking for.

    Wishing You Plenty To Live,
    Tom Doiron
    Atlanta
  • Samuel Bratt
Absolutely the TRUE!!!!!! Do not expect the best or the worse from anyone!!!! Keep presenting!
  • Hai
    BRILLIANT ANALOGY! Thank you Eric!
Too often, I hear that NM doesn't work from the VERY PERSON who is easy to QUIT ON HIMSELF first, not willing to WORK, not open or coachable to learn a new sets of skills to run her/his business successfully from others or "I'll do it my way" and have all the excuses in the world to why he/she can't train or reach out for the abundance available RESOURCES today, tomorrow or this week, to better her/himself in the business.
I am more protective of my time & energy with people with this mindset and move on...

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY ON TARGET...Lottery Mindset is the biggest reason why people fail in Network Marketing.
Thank you for sharing this with the rest of the world. WELL SAID! HAI
  • TAbrams
Great way to show an example of many people's mentality towards our business. I am going to borrow this for our trainings.

The sad thing is some people don't even finish scratching the ticket as they are so frustrated and convinced it doesn't work.. If they had just gone a little further, looked at this as their business that last person, was the one spot left covered on their ticket.
  • artdlasvegas
If you want to play the lottery, buy a ticket and take your chances. Networking is not a lottery, it's a business, treat it that way and you will succeed.
  • You have a very interesting way of showing network marketing
    keep up the goog work
  • christinaglazar
For that tape I simply love you Eric, lol! It is a simple fact - you are a pro of special material!!
  • karenandian
So True!! He is a GEM!
  • Network Marketing is a business just like any other: you must understand it to make it work. It takes time for any business to take off and you must work long hours to make it work. The big difference, here, is that you don´t need a huge inventory, a beautiful office and many employees to make mucho money. You only need to dress up sharply, feel good about yourself, about what you are doing and go out: Tell the world! I bet Brad Pitt had to work hard, for a few years, to sell his product before getting residual income. How many "NOs" did he endure first?
  • Paco_Carreno
I love this chapter... is something basic for us, but very graphic... The training example has been hilairous... I am going to use it in my trainings! Thank you... Can't believe we've been a whole year together growing the Network Marketing Professional within us.
  • Earl
NICE! Sadly enough the lottery mentality is so accurate for so many!!!!

The tickets that you can scratch and scratch till you win! How Great! I have one of those endless tickets! The great thing about my ticket is that I can keep scratching even after I win some, and then win some more! It is my ever growing candidate list of people! The other cool thing about my list is sometimes a name that is "scratched off" becomes a winner later on! How cool is that!? Thanks again!

    Earl
  • janetrajala
You are right. In addition to working MLM like a business, you also need a good company, a good product, and duplicable systems in place.
  • hcapcarp
Another wise example of what some think of our industry.
  • Ria Leermakers
This is one of the best untill now!
I'm going to give it to all my distributors and use it for my prospects!!!
  • Lisette
    I like you Eric!
This, I will take with me to my meetings.
  • Man Eric you are on fire! Another fantastic video. Brilliant illustration of one of the key barriers as you say. Was talking with a good friend today who had been with one of the long established companies a few years ago and had made a little money but had a lot of baggage. Of course he'd never learned the skills so he blamed the company for not marketing in the UK to stir up interest rather than considering that he might have been the problem. The combination of poor leadership and poor training combined with not having the support network to continually re-charge his belief eventually caused him to quit - he still buys the products because he still believes in them! What a shame - hope I can get him in my team and plugged into NMPro so he can rediscover his dreams and realise them over time.
  • Funny, but true! Good analogy
  • How sad... We do have a better way ! You are amazing, Eric !
  • Marina
It was great and very funny analogy. But It's Soooo true for many people. I had also few thoughts like that time ago. As you sad, if that "gorilla" or "ninja" will join me, everything will be great. Thanks to YOU and other real Professionals in network marketing, we learned that it's a Profession and we need to grow ourselves to that type of income we want. If not, it comes down to our level of "professionalism".
Thank you very much for all lessons you gave to everybody and to me personally!
  • jlconner
Great analogy Eric. Never looked at it like that but you are right as always. Thanks for the insight.
  • Good advice. I'm forwarding this video to my downline right now!
  • talya_mitzafon
I had already won!!! Learning this brilliant profession from Eric Worre is a great prize for me. Thank you.
  • Great illustration Eric!

The mentality is very common. "It didn't work for me!" Did you make your list? NO. Did you go through the training site? NO. Did you let all the people you know you started a business? NO. Hmmmm...... wow... 3 months in and you haven't done anything, how can you expect anything?
  • theuns
    Eric
what can we say more , It is more than 100% on the dot , People don't want to dig deep and consistently to get the money they can get out of MLM there is no easy ride to the top it is uphill but if you get to the top you can look over the world and say i done it and i am proud of it and to over come a big task is more joy full than all the money in the world .... and i can go on and on with this LOL :-) Thanks again I love this one bigtime cos it make sens .
  • You can never own the lottery but you sure can own your own business when you become a NMPRO. Lets tell tthe world that we have a better way. (Put those lottery tickets down and join us).
  • Judith Atkinson
Great analogy. Eric you have become an amazing person.
  • Bjorgli
We sure have a better way. You are really good at showing us. Thanks again.
  • gillym1
How fascinating! That is a really good way to illustrate the opportunity that NWM affords us! Thanks Eric - I may use that analogy when I am prospecting!
  • Fired up man! This is great a great example!
    Alex Tita
    Here as promised
  • Episode 50 of Eric Worre's 100 Episode Throw Down Challenge:

Wow half way there guys and gals!

Great lesson Eric. I am again just in awe of your lessons you plan and provide here on NM PRO. Classroom Teachers all over should take notice. This will have to be a part of my training with new team members as they join my team.

    Thanks Again Eric.

  • eabus
This is a great way to make a point.
We, the ones who are committed see it so clearly but now the problem is... the individual who lives in the fog won't see the tip of their nose no matter what. You can try to show jewels to the blind but that will not change their inability to see.
Yes, I will keep on scratching the squares to see if I get a "want to see" individual.
  • LOL :D
You have to upload to the funniest videos on youtube ;)
  • julie67
You hit the nail on the head. Where can you go to work and not have to work? People have silly ideas in their heads. Tell them it is work and help them learn how it is done.
  • That was fun. Scratch off until you win.!
Many I know, including myself, came in hoping to scratch off the winning ticket early.
Long term mindset, my "why" and my mentors keep me in the game.
As you've said, if it were that easy (scratching off 6), everyone would be doing it and then they wouldn't pay us the big bucks!
  • Randy
One word Eric. You are "awesome". What a hilarious analogy. Love your videos.
  • DennisByron
Excellent Analogy, It is very surprising when people join and to them they put in a lot of work, which maybe talking to 6 people, then quit.
  • eddyoshaughnessy
How very true , some people join and seem to think that they dont have to work , or that somone else will do it for them
  • seija
    Great analogy
  • kgoren
Excellent analogy! Just keep scratching and never give up.
  • timandtricia
Great illustration. We all need to painting a picture of a true profession and real business opportunity while setting realistic expectations.
  • Great analogy, I will use this lots...
  • dstfa96
Wow Eric you are sooo right...a lot of people have the lottery mentality and that's why most people who enter our profession end up quitting...To succeed we have to treat this like a business, learn the skills necessary and remain consistent and persistent and we will live the lifestyle of our dreams.
  • Bryan_in_KC
Most everyone has heard the term "better to be lucky than good". I disagree. I say.. "better to be good and create your own 'luck' " ( I personally don't believe in luck )
  • Jodi
Great way to show that Eric, loved it!!!
Love Halifax too, used to live there, hope you enjoyed your time there!
    Jodi
  • hlj521
KEEP SCRATCHING! Eric you rock! I love how you show such relative illustrations! You are a true blessing to network marketing!
  • jpmendoza
The visual was great! GREAT concept that we can keep scratching until we get one, then scratch again for the next one.
  • grantkhary
I like this....true!....i taught like that @ 1st as well!
  • agelfederico
Jajajajajja, very good, thanks once again.

One question, Regarding the FREE webinar you will give to everybody that comments on the 100 episodes, is it possible for you to let me know in which shows I have not commented ( Do you have a program to show you this)? or do I have to look it up my self. I am asking, because I had problems with my computer, and now I am not sure if I did comment on all of the episodes.

Hope you both have a great week
  • kgoren
Let me know what you find out. I, too have tried to keep up and not sure if I missed any.
  • MarvinTowler
What a powerful visual Eric! I appreciate the honest, insightful information you provide here. "Keep scratching and scratching..."
  • Eric, you crack me up! What a great way to look at our business! I absolutely love i! Personally I love these short little clips better than the long interviews!
  • Great one act play, Eric. I don’t know that you’ll get an awards nomination, but you sure did an excellent job of DEMONSTRATING the difference between NM and a lottery.

"It is impossible to win the race unless you venture to run,
impossible to win the victory unless you dare to battle."
  • NikkiVerdonck
Hahaha, that was really funny and soooooo realistic, people don't even realize that.
    Very nicely explained, thanks!
    See you next week :-)
  • peterragg
Everybody who wants to joins my business gets properly and professionally interviewed by me. One of the things they have to do is to tell me why they want to join my business. The thing about NM is we work with the people we want to work with. You can suss out the people who want the get rich quick option, (you can spot them a mile away).

I have said on many occasions this is 21st century NM, it is not a numbers game, repeat not, it is not a lottery, it is a business, business, business. A business where you work your backside off for a minimum of three years before you take a breath.

If they cannot give you that commitment, next

We have a responsibility to do this properly and get rid of this get rich mentality which is still prevalent in our profession

    Regards
    Peter Ragg
  • Oh, Eric you're so great. MLM is not a lottery, it's like any other business when it comes to do the work. You still need to work hard and stay focused. What you have in network marketing that you don't have in a "traditional" business, is these amazing community where we are not competitors - we are collegues that want success for each other. That is so special for NM and that's why I love it. / Linda, Sweden
  • Treat it like a business. Very good. The problem is most folks do not know what a business is. All businesses require a lot of work all of the time you are in that business and once you stop the business stops. Network marketing, on the other hand, requires a lot of work, especially in the beginning, but it does not stop if you stop. Thanks Eric.
  • Mailen
Sure , I`ll bee there to morrow ? Thank you , Eric.
  • rmonte
This was hilarious! It was GENIUS!!!! Excellent way to make the point! Thanks Eric
  • dougharkins
Love the analogy, will pass this on to all my friends. Thanks Eric.
  • Lorraine
There are no short cuts in life. Love the analogy. :)
  • that was really funny! And such a great example of how people with a lotto mindset behave.
  • Oh, you're good Eric. That was great....and funny too!!
  • gmeyerson
Learn the skills necessary and expose to as many people as possible!!
  • Great analogy! Got to treat it like a business that is long term. Not like a hobby(like playing the lottery) which is once a week.
  • travelprohawaii
I used to think that way, I was not taught differently. Now I understand! I now know what it meant when someone studied the industry and became successful. They treated it like a business and kept working on themselves!
  • ybimbalanced
So true! I see this a lot, I like the idea of suggesting this is a guarateed lottery, as long as you keep at it. Thanks
  • bryantkeefe
I want more scratchers...C'mon big payout! If you set income expectations low and the work level HIGH then you may avoid a few of these dreamers.
  • patrickmcfeely
Yes Eric it's a numbers game, I will have to use example.
Thank you for your time Eric
  • quincy
Thats so true. I sat down with a couple yesterday who didnt get started yet but said they wanted to try it out on their friends. Lol. Pure lottery mentality. Eric you're right. This business isnt a lottery ticket but the odds here are better than one.
  • KeithN
As Network Marketing Professionals, we must remind our potential prospects that this is a business, not some gamble or game of chance. Even if the company you represent doesn't make that clear, we must continue to present network marketing honestly, and not rely on hype. Everyone 'wins' when can positively change the perception of this business with the general public.
  • carybennett
Oh YEah Great show, good way to put it i will have to use that sometime.. Thanks Eric looking forward to tmrw..
  • I still have trouble believing that people really think that way. I think it's more from being hyped up at a live presentation and they don't make the choice with their head. This mentality is just as much the hype masters fault for building up dreams as it is the person with the "lottery mentality" connected to their dreams. Most choices should be made with your gut feeling except those involving investment decisions---such as starting a business. Yet, in most presentations in this industry the feelings of hope is what is focused on most.
  • garyparmenter
Great analogy! I could really relate to it. Been there!
  • Loved the lottery analogy Eric. Another great lesson on how uncommon we are. It's not just in Network Marketing however, it's life. Even with a guarantee that "if you keep scratching you'll make a million dollars", once it starts feeling like work, it gets to be too much trouble. There are reasons only 5% of the population reaches their goals because most people give up. As Napoleon Hill says, "persistence and perspiration make an unbeatable combination for success". I know I'll keep scratching. Thank you, Ginger Hogue
  • Foord Yates
When you set your mind, you set your mindset.

    Foord Yates.
  • ulla99
Hahaha, funny example and congratulations for your money! I look forward to one year anniversary special!
  • Absolutely LOVE this visual! Eric, I know I keep saying it over and over, but I have to say it again. I feel more empowered in just the last 4 months of watching NMPRO than in my entire career in network marketing.
  • Too Funny Eric! I've also heard this referred to as buying hope! People pay the fee to get into the opportunity of their choice and then sit back on their couch waiting for something to happen. Or even worse, they DO go out there and talk to 3 or maybe even 4 people get all no's and decide that they've been duped when all along they never had the right training or mindset to be successful! This is a business, you need training to do it right and get the results you want...wake up! If you're upline doesn't offer it to you then look other places, there's a ton of free, valuable content online. And, next time you join an opportunity check out your upline a little more thoroughly. :-)

    Best,
    Carrie
  • MattinJaxfl
Eric that mentality is so true! How do I know?? Because I have had it myself. However, even though I scratched off my numbers, did not find any winners, and I have that gray scratch off stuff under my fingernails. I decided to keep learning and become a professional rather than quit.
  • rayrios
just in time to encourage our discouraged team members....THANKS Eric
  • billrogers
Outstanding! Great way to show people how are business works and help them eliminate some of their emotions.
  • bartonmurray
yes I am so tired of the lottery mentality....
  • Hey Eric, sounds like you dropped your change as you walked away from counter

Unlimited amount of numbers to scratch off until you win, that’s a cool example. Just keep scratching and scratching and scratching...

We can’t lose this game unless we quit this game. Seems pretty simple, don’t quit until you win.

    Looking fwd to tomorrows show!
  • Avatar back up... Don't know what's going on here. I have 2 profiles I guess.

You hit it on the nose again.
How would you like your chances if you got unlimited scratching opportunities? Great comparison!
We don't hold a loteryticket by entering an mlm company. We enter a business, where the
    posibilities are infinite.
warm regards, Jeroen Lingier from Flanders, Belgium.

I liked this video post alot. People's mindsets are holding them back.

If you want to take this vehicle to the land of financial freedom, it isn't just around the corner. You have to actually get into the vehicle, make sure that there is fuel in it (your drive, persistence, passion, personal development, willingness to learn & be teachable,etc..) and step on the gas and start moving (talk to people & offer a solution to their needs). Sitting idle gets you nowhere. It also helps to have a map (your training) to guide you. Ocassionally you may get off course but that is okay. See where/how you went off course. Learn from it and get back on track. Keep driving and you will make it to your destination eventually.
  • again another interesting analogy...... :-)
    ~
  • SJ Doug
    Eric a good analogy!
And let me say happy Anniversary
  • This is one of the best yet. It reminds me of the show where you said that many of those who say no have actually been in network marketing before and you ask them "What's your story!!!". Find out their story and use the lotttery ticket analogy....WOW
  • fc34615
    What a great analogy.
  • I like unlimited scratch off lottery tickets! Exposing, scratching off, three dozen or more new people every week for, oh, ten years.... guaranteed millionaire.
  • Yes, we are network marketing professionals. A real business that requires special skills.
  • drpricedc
    THANKS ERIC, GREAT ANALOGY!
  • ritafulton
What peace of mind..to know that as a NWM Pro we have unlimited opportunities to reach our goals. Great example. Looking forward to tomorrow, too!

  • quintaser
You are my Guru, Eric. Such a clear way to shake us all. On the other side, I meet every day people that knows nothing about MLM, but they are close to the idea with out knowing why, and every single week, for years buy the lottery tickets, and make plans with that money, and you know what? never say anything against the lotto companies. Well, lets go people, scratch all those numbers, the price is there for those who prevail. I am one of those.!!!

From Puebla Mexico, I am Sergio Quintana, MLM Pro.
  • ericworre
    Love it!
  • Excellent timing of this message today Eric! I am reviewing our " Getting Started" material to keep it simple and duplicatable....and the biggest issue is starting new people off with the proper mindset..this is an excellent too to do just that! Thanks ..and how is Halifax? Looks a little cold and dark...and rainy perchance?
Just like your home town of minneapolis today!
  • Steve_Nelson
The only thing I disagree with on this episode is how you related it to JUST scratching off numbers..... Only because of what I know you've talked about in past episodes, and what I've personally experienced. Along with the numbers, ENTHUSIASM is absolutely critical. You have to be ALL IN, or your friends/prospects won't take you and the opportunity seriously.

I'm not taking anything away from todays video because you're right about the lottery mentality, I just wanted to add my two cents.
  • smreed
I think the enthusiasm and doing this business the right way is all built in to the "scratching off numbers" here in Eric's video. It is about the individuals that join you and actually do or do not persist properly in our NM business with us. The scratches that are not winners had the lottery mentality and the ones that are winners are the ones that got it and are moving forward with you. Enough of those moving with you in the "right direction" and you are moving towards your financial freedom.
  • Steve_Nelson
I shouldn't have used the word, "disagree," because I get what you're saying and I also agree with you. What I'm thinking about is probably just the difference between a committed, steady business builder, and a rockstar builder that is experiencing serious growth in their NM business. A committed builder is creating a certain number of exposures every month and getting 2 out of 10 lets say. A rockstar builder might be creating about the same number of exposures but getting 6-8 out of 10. The one's with the lottery mentality don't even make it past 6 exposures and they're done! I guess what I'm getting at is, I want to be like the "rockstar" and have massive success, rather than go slow and steady. And there's not a right or wrong way but it would obviously be more enjoyable to go fast.
  • smreed
Hi Steve, well....you have the commitment bug and that is great but going fast isn't a good thing and here is why. You will miss to much at a fast pace. It is a journey to win in NM. Remember the story "the tortoise and the Hare". The tortoise was consistent, committed and steadily he won the race! Even the Rockstars didn't start out that way out of the gate. They had to be on the same journey we are on. You will become a Rockstar if you keep developing, growing and building the muscles it takes to get there.
  • chocolatelifesaver
Eric you crack me up! How funny! Yes there are so many people that have given grief about MLM not working for them until they admit they never did anything with it or got any training. Granted many were not supported by their sponsor, but you know, when you start your own business, it is always a real good idea to get a business plan and invest your money on something that you have researched to know it is financially stable, (over 5 years old) and has a product that sells itself. Very good comparison Eric, you are such a joy to share my cup of coffee with in the morning. You are a PRO and by logical deductions, have a much better way! CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR FIRST YEAR. Thanks for being in my life!
  • Great visual, Eric.

I heard recently that "Winning the lottery" was the most common response to the question; What are you going to do to increase your wealth during this recession?

    Yikes
  • bethascoli
Awesome example! What a brilliant way to communicate this concept!
  • Almost every profession require effort and extra WORK to make it work and network marketing is nothing different. That is why we are called netWORK (and) Marketing ourself, company, products etc professionally.

Tomorrow is a special day... and your personal special day too. ;-)
  • rasdaniels
Persistence & Consistency - no lottery here!!
  • Pete
The 3rd person I signed up asked me after several days in the 'business', "When will I be getting my 1st check?"
    He's still waiting....
  • chocolatelifesaver
LOL Some people can't see even with a mirror in front of them.
  • jerryscribner
    Interesting
  • Just keep scratchin and scratchin and scratchin.....................never ever ever quit! We do have a better way.
  • Denise Cox
    great show. love the example.
  • There is a famous saying, "Those that work there asses off make money in network marketing!"
  • Maxwellhealth
A message to all...."A Willingness to Work" not a "Willingness to Scratch"......."Learn Not Luck"
  • pollyhulseman
Such a great to put it! I think a lot of people will be using this analogy.
  • denisekay
    Excelent example.
    Thanks for fueling the soul.
  • eletta
...a picture is better than a thousand words, thank you mr. Worre, have a nice day.
  • What a great analogy. I'm going to use that today. This could also be used with jumping from program to program. I join this company (buy a ticket) I didn't win quit that one. New company (buy a ticket) didn't win quit, on an on and on.
  • brigittapatel
    What a great example!

    Thanks a million
  • FrankMarshman
Wow again. We learn from stories and analogies. This was one of the best and one which I have already stolen and plan to use as my own. Thanks.
  • drmikempa
Eric, you are a great teacher.
  • carolbarrett
Great example Eric. Lottery mentality--we've got to change that. Keep on scratching. I'm scratching Eric--and enjoying every minute of it.
  • emmettb
Excellent way to show the deception many have in their minds!
  • gmeyerson
Oh so I suppose to treat this like a business, thanks Eric, need to pass this one on to the team
  • enrique62
Thanks for telling the truth. I think it all starts with leadership. It would have been better for me if I have been told that 1 out 100 people I spoke will do something in the business.
  • alltheverybest
PERFECT! You are so right - and I am amazed to look back and realise that that is how I started out thinking too!
  • Excellent show, Eric. Dare I say, one of your best yet! Clever way of showing us that, while the big money is there for the earning, we need to scratch more than 4-5 spots.

I was actually thinking about this the other day ... it all comes down to talking to enough people, so that you'll sign up enough reps, so that you'll find a few 'Fireballs' -- who will do the same thing.

    Best,
    Scott
  • germanjaramillo
What a very good example!!! and i would complete the example, thinking that....if we continue are trying and exposure the oportunity to the people every day, we will be sure that the "numbers" of our "lottery" will appear....and what will happened? They will be de diomonds of our organization and the ticket to our freedom..

let's continue "palying lottery" we're lookin for our numbers...

    From Cali Colombia
  • Gakungu
That was a really good analogy. Perseverance, tenacity, being coach-able,and consistency will eventually pay off in network marketing.
  • Connie Tolton
    Great analogy, Thanks

    Connie T
  • Tina Perdue
Great analogy. I have heard many say the same things you mentioned.
  • Too many treat their "business" like a Lottery Ticket.
That's why they won't get far with their business.
They think network marketing is a "joke" especially after listening to all that "Hype" from the Gurus then failing...

    This was a PERFECT example!
  • Katie N
Great analogy Eric, you are encouraging me to hang in there.
  • Dee_Canada
    Not a lotto fan myself...LOL...
  • wouterdeprez
Everybody who's planning to start a network marketing business should see this video!
  • claralondono
A leccion on focus and persistence...love the analogy with the lottery ticket..Thank you Eric.
  • turjcxg
Eric, what a FANTASTIC analogy!!! You are such an awesome teacher!! This show makes me realize that even though I've been in my NM business for a while, I'm making that same mistake....doing the mental banking about the few people I've seen and how that few will turn my business around. Thank you for being such a GREAT TEACHER Eric!
  • eabus
You've got a great point. Me too I was making the same mistake but did not realize that I was betting
on the few I got and going into management and pushing mode. Oh well! at least I was willing to learn from it but you painted it clearly.
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
This is a great analogy - persistency and better treating MLM as a business. We win by hard work, great communication and all the other things we learn on our journey. We must take charge of our destiny.

Here's a little joke: "Jesus loves me! It's everybody else that thinks I'm an ass."

It's a bit like this in MLM. Our mindset, as well as that of our prospects in the Network Marketing Profession, means that our road may be rocky, thorn covered and subject to attack - yet our success will be the best sign to all that we have a better way...and we must keep going, spreading our success.

    Thanks again Eric.
  • Cee_G
Great job with this example Eric. The "lottery ticket" mentality is everywhere. We have to remember to do this business "until"......
  • anthonyviglietta
I think it's better to send prospects to YOUR website before I even send them to my company website. The only problem, is that there is SO much great information on here. I wouldn't even know where to begin! Great analogy.
  • BetterCoffee.dk
Best presentation on this topic I ever saw!

    Thanks Eric.

    Looking forward to tomorrow!
I predict lots of congratulations on the dicussion! :)
  • Love the analogy.......

    tks
  • mariasiro
Thank you Eric, I am going to use this one with my people!!!
  • Good Lesson and Analogy. Thanks
  • jeffreyhall
Persistence, focus a plan to keep motivated - small success leads to big success.
  • mbryant
Love the analogy. MLM is a ticket that you can keep scratching until you win. The only way to fail is to quit!
  • Genius example Eric. True master in action ;)
  • ERIC Did you win on the ticket? ;)
  • ericworre
Actually... I did! hahahaha. My $10 ticket paid me $20 bucks! Imagine if I did that ten times a day... I'd be rich? hahahaha
  • Eric this is one of your best videos you have ever done, bar none.

    The message is so powerful.
  • tomlacey
Excellent point on the mentality that persists in this industry. Too many people enticed by hype of instant cash!
  • Thanks. Good analogy.
  • And again a wonderful explanation about the way people threat our profession. So grow up you grinders in the industry!!! Threat it like a business, and sooner or later the results are there. Like Winston Churchill said: "Never, Never, Never Quit..." Take care my friend, you're the best! Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • Ryan
get the freakin lottery mentality out. persistence beats resistance.
  • I absolutely love this, it is so good.
This is one of the best prospecting videos I've seen....=)
Take your business seriously and keep on scratching until you find your aces...
In MLM and NM we are in control and we make our own lottery tickets.
  • MagnusEdvald
Good analogy. It does need to be treaded as a business.
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
Great comparison, gonna buy a winner-ticket today, maybe we are more lucky than you are !! LOL
sure we will use this in our conversations. This is exactly what we like/need in this series; all the pro NM arguments and all the con arguments on tradditional business.
thanks Eric. (see you next week?)
  • Jillian
    Interesting - loved the analogy.
  • You see the lottery mentality all too often... nothing good comes out of anything without some struggle.
  • Erik
Great video, I would say one of the best shows so far. I will use this example. Thank you :)
  • Marion
    Great video -
Will definitely use this example to get rid of the dreaded Lottery Mentality
  • yuvalcohen
    Thanks
    What a fascinating video,
Teaches a lot. Helps me improve and become a professional in MLM
  • Kjell Englund
    I like that Video =)
It´s an easy and extraordinary way to show the business
    Thanks Eric
