True, this is the employment reality. Thanks Eric for bringing in the message that we have a better way. Love your exit strategy approach... nice.
  • Olivier Leca
Really shocking how values are drifting away from the Corporate world. I'm so happy to have the Freedom to build my business every day around some core values such as integrity, loyalty, true commitment and support ...and able to surround myself with people sharing these values. This video made me realized the depth of the blessing.
  • Jonathan
Fascinating convo indeed Eric. It goes to show that loyalty is indeed frowned upon more than rewarded. Corporate world - sad.
  • aliceflanders
Remember the story you told (I think it was Randy Gage that told it) about the guy who was hired to find a better way and after he helped the store expand, he not only was not rewarded for his work, he was fired since they now knew how to do what he was doing.
  • talya_mitzafon
Frightening!!! Networkmarketing is a way of life that enable you to control your life and built your own freedom.
  • heatherbrocklehurst
I've seen this happen. Sad but true.
  • yitz613
Excellent post Eric. If we can share this reality check with our people and teach them to do the same, think of the possibilities
  • veronikakari
That explains a lot, but companies does not say it laud, but they behive this way.
  • Luis (Pelon)
Seniority was what we were used to look for. NM y really the 21st century business.
  • steve_weaver1
I haven't had a 'job' since 1989, this is reason why.
  • 2nd time watching this....it is SO eye opening.....i just wanna get this message to EVERYONE i know still in my former industry....
  • lauralopez
I think MLM is the best option is like build your future
    Thanks for share the story
  • nmpro4ever
played the clip for a friend and he absolutely agreed with what you said.i agree and its quite shocking.thank God that i am no longer part of that broken model
  • Donna Wheaton
This was eye opening after thinking about it True. Thank you for this message something else to share with others.
  • raybeattie
Excellent story Eric...I know a number of people who lost their job after 20 yrs. We have a better way.
  • jeanalbert
Woah! To hear a top level executive admitting what most of us already knew is mind-blowing. Exit strategy anyone?
  • cherisizzles
You sit next to such interesting people on airplanes! Maybe I need to take more trips!! :) Definitely better to be loyal to my own business than someone else. It is a scary thought about the fact that large corporations and businesses will not hire back laid-off employees, even once the economy turns around.

What an interesting take on loyalty!! But it does make sense that they look at it that way .... so glad I'm not an employee!!
  • rmonte
If its to be, its up to me! We need to take charge of our lives. Thanks Eric
  • pech
I like the frase exit strategy.
  • nmpro4ever
when i viewed this..i was grateful that i have since ditched that broken model..what a way for employees to be rewarded.will use this also for prospecting purposes.we do have a better way.

if you liked book ..think and grow rich, you will like

the online video version of Napoleon Hill's great book..Think and grow rich.

  • alltheverybest
How scary is this? The title foxed me when I first saw it. I couldn't believe it. Once I heard the detail it made so much sense. Thank goodness I am out of it - but this is such a great approach for our contacts who need that exit strategy!
  • jlt0wn
Employee loyalty has be devalued for several years. It's all about the bottom line. My 1st layoff was 15 years ago. Pensions are disappearing if not outright gone. 2 more layoffs and I'm definitely working on my exit strategy. Your daily segments are helpful & encouraging in that regard. Thank you.
  • The truth about loyalty to your employer hurts. Yes everyone needs an exit strategy.
  • dean
Hey that was awesome everyone out there needs to get rid of that hub diease that they have great keep it going.
  • Inger
Let's face it, the economy has changed. People should adapt and be more pro-active in their financial well-being.
  • BetterCoffee.dk

    Interesting facts.
I also got a script from you there. The way you approached him with the exit strategy.
    Good stuff.
  • karenandian
    Thank you Eric
You are so right Eric. People who have been employed for 15 to 25 years are in a very risky place. Those people are (as you said) costing companies alot of money. Some justify your existence by adding work load-I should say expect much, much more from those senior people. When the lay off comes your done.

  • karivankleef
So true. I am working on replacing my job before they replace me.
  • keithraines
I think we're only rewarded as long as we can produce for the company. when we decline in productivity the use for our services dclines
  • travelprohawaii
Yes, we are in that crossroads that those in the industrial revolution. The assembly line changed job titles so people who made whole items on their own were phased out! This is the new economy revolution and the same things are happening!
  • Irina
    This is true...
    Thanks for sharing.
  • mariereineviollin
this story is amazing, loyalty gets punished, but then I should know better it has been like that in France since the 80's
  • fc34615
Listening to the comments made by the person whom you spoke with is not only comforting, but real. We do have a better way, and it is in our hands to show that to the world.
  • gkamlm
Very enlightening indeed, truly eyeopening, thanks Eric
  • quincy
WoW this is so amazingly shocking to see how things are viewed from that perspective. And people are SO tied to their jobs. But WE have a BETTER way. Funny how he walked right into that exposure. He made it too easy for you Eric.
  • This is EXACTLY why we HAVE A BETTER WAY!
  • CarlosVera
Wow...........that was a great wake up call !!!!!!!!!!
  • smreed
wow, what news to hear from the upper ranks of huge business. What a great example to share!
  • mspaulamc
I am stunned ... though not surprised WOW ... and good job at driving the burn to the point of getting this guy to take a look too ...

I will pondering this point for days ... thanks Eric!
  • salomonnuez
Best whoe ever, great eye opener, thx Mr Worre
  • Steve_Nelson
Some day, you will pay, for being loyal to your job. Because if you become dependant on someone else to have work for you, you will stay small and insignificant. We were put in this world to be great, we shouldn't waste our days going through the motions.
  • carolmcwilliams
Yes, I am seeing more and more top professionals wanting to have an extra income stream so they have options to earn extra money and build an income stream for retirement that is not depended upon someone else. This is awesome news people in traditional jobs are feeling insecure that they may lose their job and that is why they may be open to NM.

  • alberttorres
That is very interesting that the corporate man said that people like himself are no longer viewed as good employees... kind of comical but ironic at the same time. That is why I develop my own economy... Thanks Eric
  • Alyson Ogilvie-Lee
wow, doesn't that say something about how we are shaping the world. It's about time we changed our approach to values.
  • jpmendoza
I was the loyal employee that never missed a day of work, changed my schedule to fix the company, first one in & the last one to leave. I missed or was late to so many family events because the company needed me at my desk. I still let go because it was best for the company.
  • garyparmenter
What a stark reality to hear that long term and loyalty to a job is a negative thing. I'm glad I have found a better way!
  • No doubt life is short and the time is NOW! Don't waste these precious moments we have.
  • This is why building yourself is the most important. There is not even security in MLM. Companies go out of business. But if you build yourself - you're always in business.
  • juanfernandogutierrez
    Always have a plan B!!!
  • daddykekere
Wow, longevity and loyalty use to be positives in the corporate world.Owning your own NWM biz is really the only safest way to get the target of your back. Thanks
  • racingworm
I couldn't agree more. I was told that once you get into Federal Gov't work, it was almost impossible to ever get layed off. Tell that to the other 1300 along with me that had our installation shut down and were told thankyou as they shut the gate behind us. Loyalty on the job scene is non existent.
  • Dave S
In the corporate world you are one relationship away from being shown the door. In the MLM world you are one relationship away from opening a new door.
  • onemartymac
Great stuff! Job Security is an illusion
  • Mark from Germany
... after having lost my lapitop this weekend (I left it snoozing all by itself on a park bench in Frankfurt, can you believe it!!) ... and having my usual internet access complicated a bit .. here I am, catching up on one of my favourite spots of the day - NWM PRO - .. I just downloaded the hot scripts .. goes to show: not all loyality goes unrewarded !! ;) .. - guess it depends which side of the world you're on ... ;)
  • agelfederico
    Waoooooooooooooooooo, you the man Eric!!!
  • WOW! So happy to see we are going the right direction - - no targets on our backs!
  • KREGAR
Great one Eric! Shows how no one is safe out there these days - even large chain grocery store executives!!
  • It's a changing world!
  • Thank you Eric for eyes opening information.
No one is safe these days.
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
    NMPRO#280
My story is an example of how safe is the new risky – and my loyalty over 23 years did not save me from redundancy (my ‘post was disestablished’ – how’s that for another name for downsizing).

So, as if we would doubt it – you are correct again Eric.
And I am so pleased to have this particular exit strategy.

    Thanks again Eric
    12/04/10
  • ronaldvandomburg
wish I was seated next to a executive manager of a big company...
  • martinvf
    WOW... this is shocking.

We are living a lie in corp jobs.
  • Miguel Cortez
Sound like he at 12 clock and ready to starte the bussniess... :)
  • Thanks for the reminder Eric that there is no job security. I was in traditional business for years and saw it often - cut personnel to raise stock value. As we climb farther up the "corporate" ladder, we are an even bigger target because we make more money.

So many people then become complacent trying to "fly under the radar" they lose their dreams. It was finally something I couldn't be a part of. We do have a better way.
  • dougharkins
    Thanks for the info, Eric.
  • Edith Kohler
    Fascinating story
Great how you prospect, compliment.Let us know his reaction.
  • 280:
very interesting! change in company people management is huge and so dangerous! Changing worlds!
    thanks for those eric

  • gillym1
Too true Eric - sad, but true.

    Thanks for your daily inspiration!
  • chriskemp817
Everybody is looking for an exit strategy. Great show, Eric.
  • Lotta
This was very good thank you
  • interesting time... but enough agreeing with each other.....
    let's get cracking!
    ~
  • claralondono
Exit stategy no matter what level of "dependent" lifesyle or resistence...great point you have made here today..writing it down now .
    Thank you
  • wow!
  • Darnell
I agree. Longevity/Loyalty to a company is really a negative in today's job market!! Times have changed and NM can provide 'a better way' and not rely on companies to look after us for our financial needs. Enjoy the weekend!!
  • Tove Nordling
WOW! One of the best episodes of many excellent ones! Talk about seizing the opportunity (...I know you need an exit strategy...if I...would you!). I listened and re-listened to your show and put down the main points in my notebook for MLM gems. I am going to use this show!!! Will also bring it to my old professors at business school and see what they think + old collegues!
  • I recently went 42 years old, and one of the things I realized is just that life is short! I have even more focus on having a really nice life for the rest that is left....
And listening to this, I believe that it will be even harder for "old-timers" to keep their job and to have a new if they loose it...
I am really happy that I have a exit way, and a better way!
  • hcapcarp
The information from this post is something that I have observed personally. Making prospects aware of this new business tactic could lead long term access to those with a large center of influence
  • beckydesabah
I haven't heard of that before. Wow! no job is secure anymore.
  • marcusbaker
Really enjoyed the video and even more pleased I am no part of that corporate world anymore. I agree let's spread the good news!! Thanks.

    Marcus

  • WOW! I had no idea that it was really like that out there in the corporate world.
The idea of longevity and loyalty I see lost in the generation Y in the world. Two years max at a job and they are moving on.
    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed
  • Tarashon Broomes
i agree longevity in a company is definitely a negative thing....the more years you work at a job no longer secures your job
  • emmettb
We've know this for a long time, but to hear it, wow!
  • bethascoli
That's amazing Eric, thank you for leading by example. And thank you for the incredible scripts you gave us, I feel a lot better now about talking to my "chicken list"
  • Incredible video Eric! I just finished my Master's in Business and as a part of my education I sat through many talks from CEO's of companies. While it was great to hear all of their philosophies what I found most interesting was that they all focus on their stockholders and NOT their employees.

It IS all about the bottom line for these corporations, it's a law...it has to be what they're focused on. This is why 1/2 way through my degree I decided to do something different than go back into the corporate world. I completed my degree and now I'm happier than ever now knowing that I am responsible for me and my future!
  • kgadol
This was great information. Wow ... lots of opportunity for us!
  • Ryan
Life is short, you never know........fascinating.
10 yrs minimum to recover. companies are lean and efficient. Bounce back will only profit companies. Longevity and loyalty negative--- What?- They become the most expensive same work costing them more. No new ideas, not bringing fresh ideas into the work place. Exit strategy..no better way NM bus.
  • chipc
How cold the truth can be sometimes! But the truth is reality, and we all need to face it.
  • seija
Interesting story, it's a good reminder not to prejudge anyone
  • Wow! I read this new and now your 1st hand story completely reinforces it. I was axed from my corporate job five years ago. I knew in my gut it was going to happen when my position was expanded to a 2-person team and I train the new team member. HA!! As soon as she was 80% trained..Boom! I was let go! Was it the fact that she was at 50% of my pay!

Yes...be the Best Network Marketing Professional you can be! We have a better way!!
  • Thank you for the excellent, professional content and for the gift. I am finding this site extremely helpful, especially the Million Dollar Interviews and the Todd Smith one in particular.
  • ericworre
    I'm glad Andrew
  • Pete
I've been reading everything you just said and it is VERY true!
  • hpena
So very true. Just more evidence that their system is broken. We have a better way.

    Nando
  • mbryant
Classic! Note the great questions Eric asked this man. "How is the economy affecting your business?" "What do you see in the employment market?" and the best of all, "If i had an exit strategy for you on this DVD, would you take a look at it?". Let's all get to work!
  • ericworre
    :)
  • OK, so you are either a significant stockholder in a consumer-driven company, or you're in Network Marketing. The economic horizon doesn't favor anything else!
  • Lisette
Anybody can be your next star in this business!
  • Wow! I think this must be one of the best videos in the series so far. Spread the word everyone - the time, they are a changing! Brilliant that you prospected him as well - always looking.
  • ericworre
    Always
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
what an incredible story. We know the stories also close by, but the way of thinking of companies .... wow, I will certainly tell the world that,
maybe we are expensive and dispensable, but we have found a better way ;-)
    thank you Eric.
  • I believe it's true that corporations will choose profit over people as the economy changes going forward and for those that still choose people, it will be the cheapest people they can find which in turn will improve profits - go figure. We have a better way...thanks
  • ericworre
They've ALWAYS chosen profit over people.
  • Congratulations on the growth of this program; over 9,000 fans!

Wow, these inside secrets needs to be shared with everyone we know. Loyalty and longevity are negative traits, it will take ten years for the economy to recover, and companies will remain lean and efficient so jobs will not increase.
  • ericworre
    Thanks Camille
  • itzhaklaufer
    Hi ! Mr. Worre,
You have changed ! 2 years ago, I heard you tells that on flights you hide your face into a book...
Now, you talk to prospects !!!!
Your friend, Itzhak Laufer, from Israel.
  • ericworre
Only when I'm in the mood :)
  • susanclark
#280 - Loyalty Gets Punished - The title says it all. According to a top executive of a Fortune 100 company, loyalty and longevity are not rewarded. When and if the economy returns people downsized will not be hired back. Sad scenario. Look at network marketing.
  • This is so spot on with what's happening. Everybody needs to hear this. An entire industry group of professionals has been literally wiped out in the last 2 years and those people, the loyal, expensive people... those jobs are gone, not coming back.

Why should a company hire a 40+ year old when they can hire a 20+ year old for 1/3 the salary? Or, the alternative is going to be using freelancers or independent contractors once the new health 'care' kicks in, so that they don't have to pay benefits and save even more money.
  • ericworre
    True true
  • turjcxg
What a great show Eric and so true. Thank you for relaying the story of your airline prospect. I think sometimes we need to be reminded over and over again about this stories to remind us that people really do need us.
  • MagnusEdvald
    Good program. Thank you.
  • I have family members in their 50's still looking for that executive position that doesn't exist anymore...So sad...YES we do have the better way! I am so blessed to have realized the lack of loyalty a decade or more ago and discovered network marketing!
Self-reliance is the way...sometimes the biggest enemy is inside of us..yet we can change and correct and IMPROVE everyday ...and that is a real blessing-hope rings eternally..
  • janetrajala
Thank goodness I found the better way!
  • Ria Leermakers
I'm working in a hospital in the Netherlands. Even here these things are happening.
If you are working at the same place for a long time, new ideas are not easy to get anymore. And meantime everything around you is changing. Here too people get layed of because of cost-reduction. Here too the people costing most and working the longest time are the first to get in the risky zone.
Loyalty is your own problem in that moments.

This show gives a great inside in how businessowners look at the 'workingclass'!
Everybody should have a plan B!
And we have the way to get it. So let's go tell them all.
  • ericworre
    Yes, it's worldwide
  • krisic
That conversation just backs up what we've been talking about: Safe is the New Risky!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • jean_albert
What a revelation, I haven't thought about the recovery for companies in this way, though it makes sense. AND the loyalty of an "experience" worker being looked at as a target on their back. Great info to share with workers looking for an exit stategy. Great info, as usual. Thank you
  • ericworre
    You're welcome
  • marvalouslife1
    Thank you for that.
I know that already. the corporate employees should know it.

    Ron Ackerman - Israel
  • Dylan Cooper
What a great perspective. I have been working in the same day-job for 10 years now and I increasingly feel like this. I feel happy everyday that I have my own fortune to work on.
  • hillin
Could be a good video for prospects. Thank you Mr Worre
  • odelya45
Wow that is a very valuable information. now i have a better perspective to share with people. Thank you so much.
  • Eric, Your so... right of the nearly 200 people that once worked for our company and were let go in cut backs the largest part of them were with the company the longest. Today's business world dictates that fresh and less expensive blood is what is required to survive as a business. I also took something else from this. You have to introduce your opportunity to everyone, because everyone is a prospect until they tell you otherwise.
  • SJ Doug
If that doesn't get your attention I don't know what will.
  • Rubén
Thanks for your big help. Everyone could do what they think to have great results, and some of them can do, but it's really better to have some guide.
    Thanks again from Chile.
  • MarvinTowler
I have always known this also. Most employment is at will. Which means at the will of the employer. Thanks again for showing us why we are in the greatest profession in the world.
  • Thats amazing, but it makes perfect sense. If your adding new ideas and value, you are an asset. We should always be striving to add value in our business relationships.
  • crwood1967
It is so true that there is NO loyalty and it doesn't matter where you work! Even those of us who have jobs that rarely are effected by the economy (teachers, nurses, police, etc) are having a difficult time not only keeping our jobs, but finding better paying jobs. Thanks for the great in-site!
  • jerryscribner
Absolutely amazing show Eric!! It is time WE as NWM professionals get over ourselves and spread the message. Jerry
  • Holy cow...YOU ARE UNBELIEVABLE. Somehow you put effectively into words everything I already know to be truth. Thanks as always.
  • Cee_G
I knew that loyalty to the employee has disappeared, but to hear that the more longevity you have, the more of a target you are is just dispicable. As you have said before Eric, the workplace as we have known it is forever changed and gone. I just got in my copy of Robert Kiyosaki's book, The Business of the 21st Century, and it is echoing all that you said here. Real eye-opening.
  • brennaballestero
    WOW!!!! Awesome! So true!
  • artdlasvegas
    put reality into perspective.
  • Matt Genet
Great post. How true that post is. Loyalty is seldom rewarded these days. Why pay someone so much when you can train up a desperate college grad for a few months at half their salary. There are a lot of people walking around in their companies with a target on their back after multiple years of service to their company.
  • enrique62
I love the way you prospected him. "if I give you this DVD,would you take a look at it?"
  • germanjaramillo
We have the better way. That's the true.

I think we have a good tool with this video to contact anyone in the corporate world.

    Thaks very much!!!

    From Cali, Colombia,
  • bryantkeefe
Spot on report. At my shop we were just talking about how our new folks have great energy and they see possibilities whereas the established salespeople are seeing the dark clouds and the problems. I agree 100% on the jobs and the economy. They figured out a way to break the worker yet again. Lower wages, fewer benefits and larger company profits are the future. So sad that so many will accept it rather than going out on their own. Lets face facts. Why should I pay someone 50% to 100% more for doing a job for 10 years when I can replace for half the cost and get a better attitude. Be careful you do not fall into the employment rut.
  • ericworre
    Well said.
  • Dee_Canada
WOW...What a shocking revelation THAT is! Reality is a harsh teacher. I'm going to share THIS presentation with EVERYONE I KNOW!!
  • Look for the lookers, always been this way but the market is growing (people needing an exiting strategy).
Thanks Eric on the nail as always
  • eddyoshaughnessy
I worked with a large company for many years and totaly agree with you , no loyalty to the workforce at all .
I am full time in NM these days and its the total opposite .
We have the perfect Plan B , lets go tell everyone !!!
  • soxfan071
I have been self employed for 8 years now and it is a struggle to stay ahead. Can you imagine that I have actualy given thought to taking a JOB! I must be out of my mind to think that would be better for me. I am making a commitment to focus on my MLM Opportunity and help others to see that we have a better way. Thanks! Eric
  • ericworre
It's absolutely okay to have a job while you're building your Network Marketing career. Nothing wrong with that at all.
  • Maxwellhealth
Many NWM Pro's really figured this scenario out some time ago..... you see people of character take on ownership of life....we own the well being of our family, our homes (well us and the bank) our autos, on and on....but the one thing that folks don't own is their "J.O.B."......as NWM Pro's Full or Part-Time we start taking back and then totally own the funding vehicle of our life!! Indeed we do have a better way :-)
  • Ngoc Tran
Interesting story. There are so many things inside. Thanks Eric!
  • Amazing!!! ....and scary...
  • tomlacey
That was stone cold reality of the business world. Schocking to hear him admit it and then admit it to himself!
  • Kjell Englund
A great insight. My mind just open up for another way of thinking.
  • Foord Yates
    Hi Eric

This video was a geat critique of loyalty in the corporate world.

What are your thoughts about loyalty INSIDE network marketing?
    - Companies to distributors?
    - Upline leaders to downlines?
    - Downlines to uplines?
    - Should the mid and high ranked distributors (Regionals, Diamonds, etc) expect loyalty from the team members and lower ranks below them?
    - Should the newbies and the lower ranked distributors be blindly loyal to those earning big dollars up line?

Maybe you could do a video on this!

    Foord Yates.
  • ericworre
People are loyal to profitability. In Network Marketing interests are aligned. Companies realize that the distributors bring the sales and messing with them is a path to self-destruction. Upline leaders to downlines (when the upline is intelligent) because the more successful the downline, the more security to the upline. Downlines to uplines, this isn't really necessary. All loyalty should be earned and should have financial interests aligned. Blind loyalty is a bad idea.
  • Foord Yates
    Hi Eric
It's intriguing to me that you said that 'its not necessary for downline members to be loyal to their upline' (paraphrasing your answer from the comment above). Could you expand on your answer?

I would have thought that the concept of a leader being loyal to a follower, and a follower being loyal to a leader, were both inherant for teamwork to operate effectively. Yes, I agree that loyalty needs to be earnt. But I was a little surprised you said it wasn't necessary for the downline (the follower) to be loyal to the upline (the leader).

    Looking forwrad to your reply.

    Foord Yates.
  • Great story...thanks for sharing.
  • Mailen
Hei Eric, We now for some time that every compani can fall ....
As you say we have a better way.
  • peterburrows
It's a new world and we need to....

  • Fired Up And Focused Man! It's remarkable how great results you can have when you know how to ask the right questions.
    Alex Tita
    Here as promised.

  • ericworre
The right questions will make you rich.
  • Absolutely. That's why i'm a student of them.
  • Erik
Yes we are in a changing world and we have a better way :)
  • Agneta Rebo
    Interesting!!
  • peterragg
Straight from the horses mouth. You knew it, I knew it, Eric you take about it all the time.

People need to realise they are going to max out their income between 35 -40 years old, after that they are expendable to the company. This is the new reality. You are going to struggle for the rest of your life to bring income into the family situation and how are you going to save up for a pension in that scenario?

    We have a better way
    Regards

    Well that's a great story!
  • Jillian
Another "wow" factor especially when you have chronological years on your side. The establishment is crumbling before our very eyes.
  • My company is becoming a very lean machine. The business owner is learning how to restrict resources while obtaining the same results. People who were once thought indispensable are now gone; the same people who showed loyalty for years.

It is a wake up call.

Take care of yourself first and stop feeling loyal to those who only pretend to be loyal to you. That may sound cynical but I have seen it in action.

How do you take care of yourself?

    Start doing your own thing.

  • Again another value packed video from Mr.Worre... This video is a serious reminder that things are not always what they seem. It is true that if a company can learn to be more efficient in the recession, when the recession is over why would they need to hire back all of the layoffs? That is powerful!
  • billrogers
Yes we have a better way. Plan B is becoming the plan A.
Reality is setting in. We do have everyones exit strategy.
  • Being loyal (and focus) to our network marketing company, yes so long is a legit company and with some other factor. Other than that, don't think so.
  • The days of getting a job after you leave school and keeping it all your life are gone. And who wants that anyway. I think it would get boring. Take the better way
  • latachia_2
Life is too short.........You could cross the street& get hit by a beer truck tommorrow!........
I already know from experiance that loyality is not being rewarded or even appriaciated in the slightest, this day in age.And you are right, life is too short too be getting stressed out& used up by these things.
1.It'll take compnies 10 years to make a full recovery from today's recession.Companies are running lean, they're not going to be hiring anyone back, they'll just keep right on reaping the benefits.
2.Longivity& loyalty are things of the past(they don't appriacite it)They are viewed negitivlybecause1. Too expensive2.No new& fresh ideas.
  • dstfa96
Everyone needs what we have but some people are so afraid of failing that insted of doing anything new they rather stay with a job and hope they are not laid off...soon they will realize that as one of my mentors' say "hope is not a strategy" and as we continue to share our stories and opportunities with the world more and more people will realize that network marketing is the best exit strategy and those who partner up with us, we will all achieve financial freedom, live the lifestyle of our dreams and create generational wealth.
  • coltsco
Very interesting story and another good reason not to prejudge anyone.
  • KeithN
Job Security is an Illusion. Many folks are still holding onto that illusion, while giving up on their Dream for a commute and a cubicle. California is an "at will" state. Employers don't even need a good reason to let you go, as long as it's not illegal or discriminatory. The economy has changed. We can offer folks a better way.
  • brunocyr
I never got the reason why a company should pay someone more because they've been there for 20 years. Productivity should be the reason, not how long you've been hanging around for.
  • jlconner
I like the idea of an exit strategy. Most people don't think of it that way. Thanks Eric.
  • ritafulton
Wow. This is ourmessge that we had better get out to everyone!! We know we have a better way and this should hold us to a "higher" standard in order to get the message out to as many folks as we can. They can make up their own minds. Wow.
  • Great info, very notorious.
It's good to keep it in mind while prospecting.
  • meagankellytorres
It makes sense. The big companies are getting rid of the people who arn't bringing any new value to the marketplace. I feel for these people who've been sold a plan they thought would take care of them for the rest of their lives, only to be let go with no back up plan. But, even though it's tough, it's the best thing. We all need to become more independent and in charge of our own lives and not put it into a companies hands. Lesson #1: Nobody cares more about you and your future than YOU. It's time that we woke up and took responsibility for our own future. Great post Eric!
  • ericworre
    Well said.
  • Lorraine
I wish I could say that I am surprised but I am not. Thanks for the great message.
  • Yes, I've been there. Good Message.
  • tambry
Yup, I've seen it. Someone who over 20 years with tremendous technical knowledge in the company worked his way up to finally Manager - was one for 1 year and got terminated. Actually if he would have stayed as just an employee he would still have his job. If you are in management position - doesn't matter how valuable you are or how much knowledge you have. You're days are numbered.
  • caronwashington
This isnt that unbelievable. People who have been there the longest are the most expensive. Their salary, their benefits, matching 401k, etc have cost the company thousands upon thousands of dollars. Cutbacks are what most companies are looking for so nobody is safe. Like Eric says, We have a better way. Everybody is looking for that Plan b
  • I think that guy is one of my high up exec. in the company I work for. Because we are cutting everybody who is not needed, hours and all. We will not be hiring people back. If we do it well be young people and pay them less for the same work I do. Welcome to the new world.
  • ericworre
    The NEW world indeed
  • Very interesting information about the REAL corporate world! Yes we do have a better way, don't we. It is too bad those who believe in their job security couldn't have heard these comments. I will spread the word.
  • Very cool story . . . it is hard to believe that loyalty would be viewed in such a way.
  • FedericoGrowthsperity
Absolutely true... Sometimes it amazes me how some people don't see it... I feel for them, cause they are not "digging their well before they get thristy" ;)

    Have a wonderful weekend everybody!

    Federico
  • Eric, you would never have known any of that unless you talked to him, and 'listened'.
The perfect prospecting lesson. Talk to everybody.

And of course, when a company, or any business, can learn to do something without someone, why increase expenses to do the same job.
Loyalty is out, yes, and performance is in.
    26 years? WOW, that's not a target, that's a ticking bomb :)
    Great show. Thanks.
  • margarethockaday
People are learning, they need a plan b. Companies are letting people go and going overseas for cheap labor.
  • richardblissbrooke
Great post Eric. Killer. Powerful. A classic
  • ericworre
    Thanks Richard! :)

So right, So right on. True!
  • drmikempa
Just another confirmation of the death of the 40/40 plan.
  • kgoren
Fascinating!! My husband and were glued to your post today. Extremely scary for corporate america employees to realize that they have a target on their backs. Loved you're prospecting approach about the exit strategy. Excellent post today! Thanks.
  • Paco_Carreno
Wow! that's taugh to listen, uh? employe = the first to be kicked out, the older you are the quicker you will be kicked!

Here we have our mentor Eric applying what he talks... that's real leadership my friend!
  • billgadol
Been there, done that. I wish I had found my current profession 40 years ago. I'm watching the experienced corporate guys get bumped out for exactly what you say here. In your home town an entire experienced sales force was let go a month ago. Most of them were long term and over 50. I' happy to no longer participate in that hamster cage.
  • Love to hear that an "alternative exist strategy" was received well, that 's probably a better way to approach that prospect....after talking to him about his perception of the economy and what it meant to him. Great process, Eric. Deserves repetition!

Keep in mind, that the future "profits" he referred to are probably earmarked to apply to the great losses the Company used to stay alive in this recession. Question is, will he be with the company in those times.

"Loyalty" factor too often refers to a nebulous relationship "perception" of the employee, not the employer. Seniority and loyalty are not the same. Value is the motivation of the employer. Right now, it's about getting the highest value employees as the core group in the right positions. If the goal of the developing NWM PRO is to keep the current job while developing the NWM, I suggest clarifying the employee-employer loyalty-value relationship sooner, rather that later. At least get a reading/get an updated understanding.
  • You just exhibited the way to prospect - anybody! Be interested in what is going on in other people's lives. And if it makes sense, we can offer something that can make their lives better. If you spoke first and offered him the chance to look at your dvd when you first sat down, do you think he would've even considered it?

Life is short. Find out if people are living the life they DON'T want. Thanks, Eric!
  • carybennett
Great info on this show Eric, Thank you so much, i was wondering after your comment the other day about this if you would have a show on it. Great. Have a Blessed weekend
  • What a great illustration. Discover the want before sharing the how.
  • maariee
Wow! That is frightening... Have a great weekend
  • germarl
A great insight !! - I guess that means that Bill Gates and Steve Jobs also have targets on their backs??
  • Actually Steve Jobs was Iced out of Apple the company he started years ago and later returned. Check out his speach on www.ted.com....this shows you that no one is safe.
  • anthonyviglietta
Great story Eric. We need many people, whether currently in network marketing or not, to see this.
  • theuns
Wow Eric that is shocking to hear how the think about loyalty... geeeewiz

Well we had a better way and my week end starts good cos i Sign up
one new down line today and just give my self a raise in me Income this Month
Can the say the same by doing something extra for there Company ? I bet
    the answer is no.

Make it a great Week end.

  • Gakungu
That's incredible! Interesting information that you have delivered today, Eric.
  • WOW ! I liked the idea of "the exit strategy".
  • #280 Loyalty gets punished
Observations from a high level, large corporation executive:
Long term, loyal employees are LESS valuable because
    (1) Their pay has surpassed their value to the corporation, and
    (2) Their contributions are "old school" when "new school" thinking is what's needed.

Doing a job RIGHT the first time gets the job done.
Doing the job WRONG fourteen times gives you job security.
  • davemoffitt
you are so right you got
to be in your own business
you are not valued any were else
  • Reflecting on 17 years of service at Coca-Cola, I can assure you that corporations have been operating this way for a few years now. The recession has given them the best possible excuse to reduce and eliminate jobs.
  • ericworre
    You're absolutely right
  • pollyhulseman
Wow - what a sad state of affairs that loyalty gets the boot. Another great story to share with people.
  • Hi Eric! Great show today. I will tell my prospects to watch this video - So amazing and inspiring to me as well, being in the business allready. Have a great weekend! / Linda, Sweden
  • jeffreyhall
This message is all to true and people need to wake up and see the big picture.
  • Katie N
Your comments really hit home today. Life is short and we need to make the best of it.

    Great show! thanks
  • patrickmcfeely
Got my book today and a free CD, cd is great now for the book.
Thank you for your time Eric.
  • HoracioMejia
Great show, Eric! This kind of conversation with Corporate people really brings confidence to our profession. It has been said here: This is not an economic crisis that we are overcoming. This is a new economy. Comments like seniority is bad and better economic indicators will not mean more jobs just confirm that. NM is THE way for this new economy.
  • tomdoiron
    Hey Eric,
Those targetted employees are subjected to passive aggression to prompt a resignation so that unemployment benefits don't have to be paid. The stockholder is way more important than the employee.

Wow Eric, this show helped drive it home why I am attracted to MLM and the community within. With the economy effecting businesses predicted to take 10 years to come back and with good news from the economy only going to benefit those still working but not those laid off. Longevity and Loyalty from employees being viewed as a negative trait is just the wrong way to look at it! Yet that is the corporate way of thinking and has been for years now.

It is time to stop waiting and do something to ensure the future for ourselves. We need to stop waiting for something to happen elsewhere by someone else. Loyalty and team work has now moved to the MLM group and to me, this is where the quality of life by association will be occurring now and in the future decade as the business world morphs into the belly to belly way of doing business.

If you think a little further outside of the box, you can then see that the world will change because it will be done by personal choices being taken back by those willing to take that step, believe in themselves and that number is growing in size thanks to you and others that are working hard to be professional and do it right from the beginning. This is the change we will see in the world and the change starts with me first.

Great subject and point to bring about and good job getting material in his hand. Go Eric, Go! You rock!

  • Connie Tolton
It's always good to hear if first and be able to be proactive in our choices. Thanks for sharing. Looking forward to hearing more

Hola Eric, Excelent Post, I like it a lo,t remeber: ABUNDANCE: IT´s THE ABIILLITY TO DO WHAT YOU NEED TO DO,WHEN YOU NEED TO DO IT.

  • bartonmurray
    Robert Kiyosaki is right!!
  • Awesome prospecting example. You just have a conversation and only when you find the person's paint point do you offer your product/opportunity as a solution.
  • Life is short no matter how long one lives. I believe the economic crisis of today is an excuse for corporations to lay off people. Especially the "loyals" since they cost so much. Then they offer a lot less to the newly hired and keep them under pressure saying "you want more money or you want to work less?, there a lot of folks out there that want your job". Talk about a change in the economy!! Network marketing is the better way. And one needs to become a Pro quick because he can recreate a business no matter which company one works for.
  • brigittapatel
That was very interesting, I always thought one should change jobs every 5 years unless one is able to change positions within the company.

    Thanks a million.
  • Unbelievable - it's time people woke up and realized that they need to have a plan "B" because this video proves even high level execs aren't safe.
  • Wow.... long-time, loyal employees used to be so revered in the workplace. What a turnaround!
I can see his point and I guess I kind of knew that too. That's why I got into this "exit strategy" of MLM.... I'm going on 16 years in my job. LOL!
  • all so true!

I love how you gave the example of how your conversation went and how you did exactly what you teach in how you opened the door for the gentleman to become a prospect. And that, ladies and gentlemen is how it's done
  • quintaser
    <<<question eric="">>>
When we have a currently unemployed person who is interested in MLM? Which would be your advise?

From Puebla Mexico, I am Sergio Quintana, MLM Pro</question>
  • Companies will use you until they use you up,
Then throw you away.... you are just a number.
  • Interesting story Eric! I thank God everyday that I am in this industry!
  • The current state of affairs in the USA has allowed companies to 'let go' people who, even three years ago, had security based on some PC privledged status. Today they are out of work and will never find a job or one that pays anywhere near what they had UNLESS they alter their attitudes and beliefs. Unlikely. Results matter and if you won't or can't add to the bottom line, yours and theirs, there is the door.
  • Very good story here, and lots of gems we can use. Thanks.
  • paulhutchings
Love it Eric! The world we live in now is not the world our parents grew up in. Network marketing IS the future. Thanks for doing such a great job at representing our profession and getting the word out.
  • No doubt we have a better way!
In Network Marketing loyalty is rewarded.
Knowledge and experience developed over long time will pay you very well in our profession.
  • Earl
Thanks for the great real example of how to do it right as a Professional Network marketer! Good job!

(You built a relationship, learn more of their needs, THEN ask IF I... (had a solution for you...) would you...)

    Very nicely done!
  • NANCY Eldred
Talk about a reality bite .... loyalty and a strong work ethic doesn't seem to matter much anymore, and from what was said not looking good in the years to come.
I appreciate this top executive for being so honest and forthcoming.

Really, Really, thank god for Network Marketing.

  • Thanks for sharing Eric, appreciate it.

    Have a good weekend

    Andy
  • I'm impressed with your dedication Andy. Thought you'd be glued to Augusta!
  • I agree. It is all about bottom line income for companies. There is no job security. That is why we have a better way.

What to go with your prospect. Love it!
  • Marion
Wow - that was an eye opener.
Everything we were taught and strived for has changed.
We do hava a better way, lets go and show the world.
  • Erik
Great information, Its friday night in Scandinavia now, I listended good but I will listen to it again tomorrow :)
  • wow, interesting hearing the story of it coming from an executive like that. Great example of a simple approach also! way to go. After you said, would you watch the dvd did he press you for any questions on what you were referring to? if so, what did you say? or did he accept the fact that what you wanted to show him was all on the dvd?
  • Ernesto_Busnelli
Is the world getting re-shaped or what?
Only the ones who re-adapt will flourish.
  • Bjorgli
I do hope people understand that they need an exit strategy. That's their own responsibility.
  • Bjorgli
Amazing, unbelievable --- is it true? The exit way made up for the beginning today. So there is still hope.
  • rasdaniels
thanks for an excellent message today. Let's go tell everyone about our exit strategy
  • TAbrams
I have been in the corporate world for the past 15+ years and what this executive related to Eric is so true and even more prevalent over the past few years. Many corporations are stack ranking employees, and when they are evaluating who will stay and where to chop seniority and loyalty are viewed as negatives.

That is why we need to let everyone know WE HAVE A BETTER WAY...

I think we constantly need to work on us, improve our skills, personally continue to develop and grow and we should be loyal to ourselves and our team. Once we become a world class network marketing professional we can take our skills and our personal developed assets to any organization and rebuild and grow anywhere anytime.

Be true to yourself, work and run your business and your life with integrity and always treat others with dignity and respect.

Take control of your own future and never let anyone else put their plans in place for your future....
  • Great comment. I totally agree.
  • rasdaniels
WOW, exellent message. Thanks - everyone needs an exit strategy
  • If I... would you... simple, yet powerful message.
  • Hey what an awesome video. Thank You for giving us more and more valuable info everyday!
  • Episode 71 of Eric Worre's 100 Episode Throw Down Challenge:

That was such a powerful message today Eric! Worth the wait. I'm not much a Shakespeare reader. but I this episode strikes me deeply and I remembered this quote from Polonius to Laertes " To thine own self be true." Loyalty to others is secondary to being true to one's self. It seems absurd and pointless to honor others before yourself. Another challenge to conquer as a NM Professional.
  • As a business owner, I never realized, before, how worried employees are about loosing their jobs. I was worried to loose a good employee, after spending time training her, to a higher paying job. Building a team, in Democracy(MLM), is so different and difficult to embrace...
  • I've been downsized twice from corporate jobs, and last month my MLM company terminated their network marketing option. But my loyalty to helping others succeed persists, so even though some doors get closed, life has a way of opening new doors at the right time. Keep learning and growing!
  • There are plenty of options out there. Even in Network Marketing one must not embrace a Company nor product but the philosphy behind the business. Network Marketing is a profession one can carry to any company that uses this marketing vehicle as the core of their business. It is a better way.
  • Bryan_in_KC
Good grief !!! So what's the incentive to show loyalty to your employer? There is now NONE. A society of mindless drones showing up for no other reason than to just get a paycheck is what we are faced with. No reason for loyalty as there is little chance for longevity and a future with the company. Granted, there will be companies that will continue to reward loyalty, but isn't it sad that they will no longer be the norm?!

WE HAVE A BETTER WAY !!!
  • Good to hear this story which shows that we do have a better way. Have a great weekend my friend. Best regards of your biggest fan.
  • denisekay
We can have loyalty to a fault... as unbelieveable as it sounds,

Have a great week end folks.
  • timandtricia
Wow ! What a great insight. It makes perfect sense in the new economy. Only the lean and mean will survive in the new global corporate realm. I hope it's OK with you but that's a story I'm going top borrow ala Les Brown. Eric, without talking specifics here did you give the gentleman your risky pre-approach tool or the classy presentation?

    Thanks for a great segment.

    Cheers,

    Tim

Wow, this is really eye opening. I think that the shift is unbelievable. Loyalty and Longevity with a company is no longer the safe way to go. That is why I am so thrilled to be part of the network marketing community! Thank you Eric!!
  • Wow, what a change in perspective, that loyalty and longevity are looked down on. It just reinforces that everyone needs to invest in personal development to keep updating their skill set.
  • WOW! Simply amazing!! It's incredible how there is no loyalty in the companies. Even though I too have known this to be true, just to hear it said by you from your conversation with this top level executive makes me be extremely thanful that I am no longer working for anyone, and that I am striving to be the best network marketing professional I can be, and help others do the same.

Thanks for sharing all that you share!!
  • carolbarrett
Wow -- how timely is this post. I just received word from a high school friend today that after 30 years she was laid off. I'll be reaching out to her with my business opportunity. I'm traveling to sunny Orlando, Florida for a week and I don't know whether I more excited about seeing Mickey mouse or having the opportunity to network with people I haven't met yet. Thanks Eric for this post, for this website and for all that you do to inspire us and promote this great profession.
  • Hey Eric... Your rock... thanks so much for empowering and inspiring so many. You are AWESOME!
  • I think our loyalty needs to be in OURSELVES and our commitment to improve our skills within the network marketing industry. Once we become a world class network marketer, we will never have to worry about security again.

The illusion that we can ever rely on a company for our security is gone forever ...

    Best,
    Scott
