I am creating a real escape plan now filled with pleasure and happiness. THank you for your sharing.
  • I agree 100% Eric. Thank you for the reminder on how to really be free in MLM.
  • aliceflanders
And oh, is it tempting. You want it NOW.
  • Jonathan
Great advice Eric. Never jump ship too early to go full-time. Don't do it unless you're absolutely sure you're in that position. Thanks.
  • pplcrusader
We become victims of our own lack of discipline. I am currently in that situation. It puts so much more stress on my business than it should. I am going back to work Eric, in both areas. Thanks
  • Luis (Pelon)
I got a new job, it is a much, much lower income but that is what I could find, we are also working hard in our traditional business and on our nm organizations, it all adds up while NM org is big enough to let go either a job or a business but not all of them.

Sometimes the need of freedom makes one have wrong decisions . . .
Must listen to the leaders and their experience and advise.
  • heatherbrocklehurst
This happened to someone I know. Wish I had known then what I know now.
  • Ngoc Tran
Make sure that you build the real escape plan, not just the plan that keep you discourage and struggling. I so love this message Eric!
  • veronikakari
Exactly. There is not said when getting new people that it does not work like that that it is hard work. So
  • bethascoli
Only good things can come from being in network marketing - even if it takes you a long time to start making money, you can't put a price on the personal development you receive. People who say MLM causes financial hardship are just looking for something to blame their problems on.
  • GREAT advice....i am a personal testimony that what Eric is saying is RIGHT.....unfortunately was stubborn & had to learn the hard way!!!
  • crwood1967
We all want freedom, and now even more I want more! I want to be able to take my full-time work income and pay off all my bills! Great focused ideas, thanks Eric.
  • carolmcwilliams
Great advice to realize that it takes 3-7 years to build the financial freedom that we all desire. Most people do not have the patience, or resolve to stick with this industry to build residual freedom over the long haul. I will use this advice when I am prospecting and working with people.
  • jeanalbert
    Sensible advice. Thanks!
  • jlt0wn
    Makes sense. Thank you.
  • Earl
Great advice to keep the desperateness away... It is really a better way of building financial freedom. Thanks for keeping us on the true track of financial freedom.
  • pech
Don’t go full time too quickly. So true, so true.
  • You're right Eric.
We shouldn't go "full time" into our NM careers, but mine wasn't by choice.
  • alltheverybest
    100% right. Thank you.
  • jean_albert
    Great wisdom, thanks
  • julie67
This gets everyone headed in the right direction. Thanks Eric
  • julie67
Excellent advice Eric. Thanks for the wisdom.
  • This makes SOOOOOO much sense. Thank you Eric.
  • Miguel Cortez
it bluid a soild bussiness.. and balances.. :)
  • mspaulamc
i love the idea of a REAL escape plan .. that paints the perfect picture!
  • kgadol
Thank you. I look forward to the day when it can be completely self supporting and freedom creating.
  • chriskemp817
I believe many people think that if they just work the business full time all my problems will go away. Great advice!
  • This point is so important. So many have struggled with this.
  • spot on advice Eric...as much as I want out of my current job...I'm sucking it up every day to stay put, have paid down debt and am working allowing my network marketing business to grow like a business.
  • Derrick Lord
    Eric,
    Sage advice my friend.
I hope many, many more people listen carefully to this!
    Thanks.
    Derrick
  • gkamlm
Good warning, unfortunately there are always those who expect something for nothing. Success takes hard work and time as Eric reminds us of.
  • Maxwellhealth
Indeed freedom is earned and learned....and none of that happens overnight.....foundations of freedom is a function of time in our business.....you best learn how to put out the fire before I jumping out of the Frying Pan
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
See NM indeed as your "plan B" for the future. make your work in NM attractive to yourself and
feel the freedom of working for yourself and not for your boss.
part-time nm is the better way, We Have a Better Way.
  • Simon_and_Lia_NL
This is so true a message. NM is your plan B for tomorrow... your plan to CREATE freedom.
I tried to be fulltime in my former NM-business before, which did not work for me, gave too much financial stress/hardship. So in my new NM-business I work part-time until I am free of debt and really ready for the next move.
Big advantage... when doing NM-parttime, you will b able to get more people on your list, think about that....
  • theuns
Thanks Eric It just make sens
  • ronaldvandomburg
I don't have the feeling of freedom yet. It's hard working and needs a lot of discipline, handling disappointment, etc. I'm involved in MLM since 9 months, but I don't have one single downline left, so it only costs me money instead of giving me freedom...
  • karivankleef
It is hard to stick with that job I don't like but I know when I go full time I don't want the debt and continue to struggle. Thank you.
  • hcapcarp
if however you are collecting a pension network marketing can add to your retirement
  • BetterCoffee.dk

    Well said Eric.

I'm selfemployed and last fall I actually tried going full time in my NM business.
It was way too soon as I had not yet learned what I needed to know!

Now I have taken some crap work which keeps me afloat (but no more, purposefully) until the time when I'm ready to go full time. It's a huge motivation for me that every morning I have to get up and work for 4 hours at something I really don't like doing! The day I can quit that will be celebrated!
My goal is to do that at our next company convention in October.
It's going to be a busy and funfilled summer!
  • Matt Genet
Great post. I am glad to hear a top leader share more about how to go full time in Network Marketing.
  • Connie Tolton
    Good advice

    Thanks,
    Connie T
  • Jessi
Yes, thanks for the incouragement to stand up to my upline.
  • SJ Doug
    good advice
  • I have met so many people who believe as you mention, that Network Marketing has caused them very big hardship in their life. When I examine a bit closer and deeper into their lives I find that they really need to get out of their own way.

    Make it a great day!
    God Bless,
    -ed
  • Dave S
Build organicly and our time will come where we can leave our day jobs on our own terms.
  • Build an alternative, let NWM create freedom and not create hardship. It is not the cause of hardship it is something that needs to grow !
  • Ryan
Brilliant- lifestyle is in the work - so do the work!
  • Ryan
in due time it will happen!
  • CarlosVera
Yeap, do not change a known stress for a new one.............
  • Dylan Cooper
Thanks Eric. I am taking this onboard. I think I may wait until I've doubled my full time job income before going full time in NM.
  • keithraines
Thank you for the advice...wish I had heard this long time ago.
  • Eric where were you when I started int his industry? Starting yourself I believe...what incredible wisdom..and it would have saved me an enormous amount of pain and suffering and confusion if I had realized this sooner..even in my new current company I just hit what they consider full time income level...well not for me and my lifestyle demands! Thank-you so much so I will continue in my other gigs as well and just realize as I'm building right now in global markets..I am building towards the "escape plan"...
Great advice and as always passing it on and paying this insight and wisdom forward!
  • Darnell
I so agree with what you're saying and working the NM step by step and piece by piece....thus on the roadway to freedom!! People have to keep realistic to this system. Thanks so much for this excellent view of thinking for NM/MLM!!
  • Great point, I totally agree that people go full time too quickly. A job is a great balance to MLM before you are earning the full time income with your MLM.
  • bryantkeefe
    Thanks Eric....1,3,5 and 7.
  • juanfernandogutierrez
good advice... one question, what if the person does not have debts of any kind, car paid, house paid, no credit card debt; can he go full time to use the day time to go to offices or meet people that can not meet at evenings to grow the business faster?
  • racingworm
That's it. A lot of people in this business think that quiting to go full time will make them independant, but you will need the extra income of a job to get all your ducks in line. It's hard to keep doing the daily grind when you know you can do so much more .
  • It all comes back to setting proper expectations. We're afraid that if we tell our prospects the truth about starting a new mlm business, then it will scare people away. However, I believe that our prospects will respect and appreciate our honesty in what it takes to truly succeed in our industry.

As quickly as we would like to quit our jobs, it will often add too much added stress. I agree that it makes sense to hold on to what is paying the bills, and use the income from their new enterprise to pay off debts or build a nice cash cushion in preparation for the transition into mlm full-time. Thanks, Eric.
  • seija
Build a real escape plan and don't go full time too fast!
  • hillin
At least 2 to 5 years to understand the profession and make mistakes.
  • gillym1
Yes - it's definitely a 2-5 year plan, depending on how eagerly you work!
  • That is exactly the issue in my country the Netherlands.
Unfortunately there have been too many posers running around spreading nwm as "financial freedom in 30 days program" and a hunters attitude.
    1 - 3 - 5 - 7
It speaks for itself but the hunter are gone.
I a way it is the same with all the "perfect financial" products the banks and insurance companies have invented in the past to let people "re-invest a second mortgage in stocks" so that the "virtual profits" will create freedom. And look what it brought us.
    1 - 3 - 5 - 7... that's the way it is... nothing less.
    ~
  • caronwashington
Great message...the real deal though. Everybodys dream is to go fulltime but your advice is right on the money. Let mlm pay down and pay off your bills. Also having a job creates more people to talk to about your business because you can create and a relationship
  • quincy
I agree with Eric completely. I learned from experience. Well said.
  • It is a stone cold fact that MLM is the best industry of all times :D
  • nmpro4ever
    freedom!!!
  • It's tough to stay positive (and you attract what you are) under the stress of full-time when you're not making the checks. Remove the stress of having to make the money and the money will come with work and perseverance.
  • Donna Wheaton
Network marketing is a freedom plan, but dont give up the search for a job until its time. Dont move to fast.
  • pollyhulseman
This was my mistake when my company closed down. It puts too much pressure to try to go full time in networkmarketing and not have a steady income.
  • That's my situation right now. Need to build a steady income stream for myself and my family THEN I can focus on my FORTUNE. Still learning and loving the business but you need something that earns enough and more to support your lifestyle first. Like it says in GoPro ;-)
  • KeithN
Don't make your move to soon. Be wise about your business.
  • rosslopez
That's totally true, MLM business is a progressive and a real business that takes time to create freedom.
Do not get desperate and prepare a real scape plan, an alternative Plan B that can be followed with your current job.

    Thanks for sharing Erick
    Hugs from Mexico
    Rossana =o)
  • Pete
    Great and needed advise
  • billrogers
Great Point! This happens all the time and especially in todays economy. Personally I have always felt the same way you do on this. I've noticed the majority of people in our profession, especially the spouses really feel the pressure when moving prematurely in to full time.
  • I agree....you should only think about going full time when your Network Marketing income consistenly exceeds your job income.
  • 1000% Agree. I am a former US Army Captain and after the Army I got a management job at Dell. I started my network marketing business at the same time I started working at Dell. This is back in 2001. I was making $55K at Dell. I was making ZERO in network marketing. It took me 8 months to get over myself and really start building. I was making like $800 a month in network marketing at the 8 month mark.. At the 12 month mark I made about $4000 that month. I was getting up to where my job income from Dell was. If I would have quit Dell, I would have never made it. I waited a year and a half later to quit my job. My Network Marketing income was $137K part time. My Dell income was $65K. That is when I quit. 2.5 years later. Then I propelled myself to the top of one of the best companies. #1 thing I see for some of my best people who have all the skills: they quit their jobs too soon and they are struggling. Don't quit until you double your income. I did it back in 2003 and that is now 7 years of earning multiple six figures...and having "the lifestyle".
  • Steve thanks for the great advice
  • karenandian
NM is what you build to eventually replace your J-O-B and allow you the freedom to work it full time. This does not happen overnight! Thank you Eric - all distributors need to hear this loud and clear. "Good things come to who wait (work the NW business - consistently)" and "Never Quit".
  • yitz613
    Eric,
As always you are on the mark. After 14 yrs in the business, I've seen people go full time too quickly and the results are not what they expected. The dissatisfied person needs to use NM as as supplement to their main income and when it reaches full time incocme levels then transition into their NM business full time.
  • Lisette
    It is so true!
This is part of the lotterymentality, we don´t want in our business.
  • This is very wise advises. When you earn twice your income from NM, it´s time to quit, and by that time you could have payed of a lot of your debts and have a lot of opportunities to invest your money into new "Cash flow" creating ventures.
Robert Kiyosaki says that there is 2 problems with money...
    1. having to little
    2. having to much
But it is a lot more fun to have the problem with to much money....=)
  • Agneta Rebo
    Good advice!!
  • I agree 100% Eric. I experienced quitting my j-o-b way too soon and struggled tremendously. I swallowed my pride and went back to work while working on my fortune and what an incredible decision that was.

In that time of my life, I developed the philosophy that my 9-5 paid my bills and my 6-12 paid my fortune!

  • Very important lesson!

You need to have a mature way of handling your MLM business. Dont´t take extra loans to "speed" up your business - make it work the natural way by producing income through your payplan. Remember it takes the average person 3 yrs. of serious work to be able to go full time.
  • Hi Eric,

Could you please put up a "Share in Facebook" box. It'll make it easier for us to pass these gems to our friends and network members. Appreciate all that you do, sir! :o)
  • i get all messed up with the time of day these things are released.

Do you feel funded proposals solve this problem or not?
  • Mark from Germany
very very very valuable lesson .. thats something I needed to hear generally .. and thanks for re - igniting memories of Boca Raton (where I was 1993, playing a tournament and sparring with WTA - tennis ladies) .. lovely place ! ..
  • Eric, Exactly what my upline teaches. Besides the extra income is what helps you build the wealth.
  • georgeman
Surprisingly enough, it surprises me that someone's upline may suggest going full time before becoming stable. What amazing pressure that would be! Thanks Eric, your advise is always sound, knowing full well how much we all want success, you always keep our best interest in mind.
  • Great point Eric. Another popular method for building is the funded proposal. This allows people to monetize those that say no to your opportunity at first with affiliate offers while building a relationship long term. This creates another income stream for the new person and also increases retention.
  • Great video Eric.
  • Dee_Canada
Such a great point. Freedom...not desperation! That is what attracts people to MLM and what KEEPS them there!!
  • Tarashon Broomes
building a real escape plan is key....let your income from network marketing help pave your freedom
  • tambry
I think part of the issue is we have heard the stories of the superstars who have done it - in debt, no job and became millionaires. But they don't hear the rest of the story behind it. The scarifices they made, the 16 hour days they put in, the perserverance, the skills they quickly developed, the circle of influence they had and perhaps the other support they had behind it.
  • raybeattie
Great way to look at it.
  • This should have been said many times and many months ago. Anyway, we should never get involved in a business we know nothing about. Study and learn, first, then jump in... you will make tons of mistakes but they won't break you.
  • germanjaramillo
Well, i only have to share with all of you, that i was a victim of my wrongs decisions in Network Marketing.

In the past, when i was in other network with other company different from the one i'm enjoing now, i took the decision to leave my own engineering company. It was one of the worst mistakes i had done in my life.

Today, after listen to Jim Ron in How to build your Network Marketing business, I understand the challeger to have my NMT business as a Plan B.

    From Cali, Colombia,

    -GJ
  • janetrajala
Great you brought out influence of up line. Many times up line is very experienced and can have influence over newbies, encouraging them to spend funds they haven't earned yet. A more sophisticated newbie will tell up line to "back off". Inexperienced newbie doesn't have the smarts yet to tell up line to "back off" and so goes further & further into financial hole.
  • Miguel Cortez
It one of the mistake is network marketing made over and over .... i learn the hard way... :)
  • Kim Svensen
I believe part of the reason why people want to go fulltime really quickly is false expectations. Not totally understanding the real fundamentals of the business.
  • thank you - this is great
  • Great Info
  • It's so simple - don't say it if your not going to do it
  • I've seen it happen..campaigns work!
  • I'm behind, however you said...watch everyday and watch your business explode, now I'm so busy with business it IS hard to find the 5 minutes to tune in. I am SO excited at the business explosion I'm experiencing - so thank you Eric for all your mentoring...It works!
  • latachia_2
Great message.don't try& build a network marketing business, while you are in a desperate mode. The prospects will since it.Stay with your job until you have the business already built up& then you'll have created freedom.
  • susanclark
#291-MLM Creates Freedom-Let your job pay your bills and build your network marketing business on the side to eventually create freedom. I was sold the wrong idea by my sponsor to go full-time when it wasn't feasible. It has caused me over the years great economic distress. Do not go full-time too fast.
  • brianhepner
    Desprate people are not attractive.
  • meagankellytorres
Good point. I think people just get overly excited and want to jump in full force without the proper mindset and skills. Stay where you are, develop your skills, and build an escape route. That's the way to freedom!
  • Daniel Glez.Peña
Hola Eric We have Freedom¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ MLM is the best. Let´s do it That´s happenened to me. I took MLM as a plan A, mistake, i only own 5 usd per mont, it´s nothing, righ now MLM it´s my plan B.
    Saludos.
    Daniel y Natali, Querétaro, México.
  • Good advice Eric.
  • agelfederico
    good to know this
  • Ria Leermakers
Very wise words. I learned them the hard way!!!
  • Jeroen Lingier
A desperate man can't sell his story with an overload off stress on his back. So take it slow, but finish your race to the top, taking it one step at the time.
  • germarl
    Great advice - thanks
  • TAbrams
I think this message from today's show is one all new people coming into our profession need to hear. So many folks hoping for this to be a quick money fix, and that all their financial woes will vanish.

The best part of this profession for me at the beginning was I could do it part time, and as I grow the business, and my income I have supplemental income to what the "JOB" provides.

I have adopted your 1, 3, 5, 7 philosophy and I think this provides a great time line of really what a new person can expect if they really want to be successful.

Our industry does provide freedom, and people need to truly respect their business and what it can provide. Just like any traditional business don't squander your money foolishly and make smart decisions that will keep you in business for the long term.
  • claralondono
Excellent show in the importance of keeping your primary income source while building a powerful and profitable business in network marketing. Thank you for making this an important issue.
  • dstfa96
Wow Eric I wish I heard this about 2 years ago...I definitely went full time waaaaay too early..the good thing is that I have learned from my mistake and I teach my team to keep thier job for as long as they can until they have generated a significant residual income and their job nterfere with them growing their network marketing business.
  • racingworm
The real escape plan. I like that. I think it takes a lot of learning before you can just walk away from a job and know how to make it work in this business. It's a lot harder than it sounds.
  • Bjorgli
We use to say; Hurry slowly! (If I can say so in English)?
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
This, NMPRO#291, is a totally relevant consideration. As always, Eric hits this particular nail right on it’s head.

To me, applying a creative problem solving approach, people must clearly identify the challenges facing them – and then ask the right questions, then work to find the solutions and set their goals and action plans accordingly. To live a good life, to live our values, it takes a good deal of thinking, ingenuity, to get the results. Doing network marketing too quickly – building expectation ahead of building success, is indeed, one of the issues we come across. Most prospects are fearful of over-extending even before they examine the opportunity. Such people will never ‘get ‘it’ first time round. Listening to Go Pro, all the answers to the questions can be found. Time freedom needs to be managed in – probably in a future programme based on a lot of good work at the front end of any network marketing business.

To quote from something I remember from Jim Rohn – work to help people who deserve your help, not those who need it. One of the criterions to sort out the people who deserve your help over and above the people, who see network marketing in the wrong, ill-informed light, is that we should take time to share what the opportunity actually is by teaching people well, explaining better. Training is about the business and teaching is about life.
Though network marketing will, by default, bring about personal and professional development, there are ways we can help people who are, as it were, blind to see – by giving of our time and knowledge to explain it all – the business and the products, the ethos.

The alternative, we are taught to duplicate, is that, if people don't 'get it', then we should move on, 'don't chase birds' - which is OK. Yet, as Eric says, these people stay on your list until they sign up....ONCE A PROSPECT ALWAYS A PROSPECT.

Then, and only then, with this understanding, can people truly enjoy what they have learnt and earned.

    Thanks again Eric
  • carolbarrett
So true and such an important point you make Eric. Thanks.
  • It was such an important point you touched here. Everybody involved in Networkmarketing has to follow your advise. Every solid business has its natural flow and to do it properly you need to go step by step, examining your results. Don't rush !
  • How true. I have an audio tape (yes an audio "tape") that says that we must not prospect desperate folks because we think they are a good prospect. It says to look for people that are already successful in what they do. Most of the times we are looking for the "desperate" that just want another job. Instead we have to look for the desperate that wants the freedom that Network Marketing offers. I wish I had this info 40 years ago!!!
  • this was a big mistake i made for many years!
  • Hi Eric! Really enjoyed todays show! I wanna thank you for sending all of us this message. I think I may have made this mistake further on if you hadn't. It's so true what you say, I don't want to trade one job for another one, I want to create freedome and be free. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Eric! You might just have saved my carreer :) / Linda, Sweden
  • HoracioMejia
Unrealistic expectations and unprofessional advice leads you to mistakes, like going 100% into MLM too fast. The start of the business can get so emotional that prudence is lost. Like the title says, MLM is for freedom, not for debt or further discouragement.
  • very good point! Its worth it to reap the real benefits of freedom once you earn it!
  • rmonte
    True wisdom. Thanks
  • Ernesto_Busnelli
Thank you Eric for bringing up a more prudent and realistic approach as a transition into a another profession. Unfortunately some "legends" like to say "burn the bridge and you'll find the way" "Corner yourself and you'll grow bigger than your problems"
  • If it weren't for the financial challenges and time freedom angst, I wouldn't have been looking when NWM discovered me.

On a quest to be the best I can be, consistently attending the training + regional + international events, engaging people, having success + blowing it with prospects, finding this daily mentorship program, meeting the challenges, experiencing the Go Pro live event in San Francisco, I thought this message didn't apply to me....but it does.

Took the last couple of weeks off because I was being so adamant with myself about taking it to the next level, that I eeked desperation. Not a good thing. Didn't quit- that's not part of the long range plan. Had to pause and regain balance, though.

Question, is, how to move forward with the process ( my Company's system, blended with the GoPro training) with conviction, urgency, sincerity and burning desire.

Now I am adopting the "I'm a Farmer" strategy- seeds take time to grow before harvesting. The good news is that there are year-round growing and planting seasons in NWM. The tough news is that I want it now.
Thanks you for the messages you deliver that clearly reach out and find connection with us.
  • And freedom is worth all the tough and all the ups and downs.
  • John Crowder
Eric - I am so glad to hear you say this. As the someone who has seen that scenario play out in the lives of several of my sons due to the wrong kind or lack of leadership in their business endeavors, they and their families suffered tremendously because of exactly what you said. They tried to go full-time too soon and it didn't sustain them after paying all the added costs, etc. Thank you for stepping up putting this out there.
  • martinvf
That's an excelent clarification we need to tell any new team member while setting the expectations in MLM.
  • mrmauriocrawford
OMG....!!!! I'VE HAD SOOO MANY PEOPLE LEAVE AND SAY THAT! THIS IS JUST MUSIC TO MY EARS. THEY ALL MADE THE SAME CHOICE IN THE EXAMPLE THAT WAS GIVEN. OR, THEY JUST WERE'NT DOING ANYTHING AT ALL, AS FAR AS BUILDING THEIR BUSINESS.

PEOPLE LOOK TO BLAME EVERYTHING BUT THEMSELVES. I WILL NEVER BLAME ANYTHING OR ANYONE OTHER THAN MYSELF FOR MY OWN MISTAKES. THATS WHERE THE POWER TO CHANGE THEM LIES.

    THANKS ERIC!
  • chipc
You are sooooo right! I'm talking from experience.
  • kdlong
Great message Eric! I fell into this trap when I first got started in the industry 15 years ago. I was fortunate enough to make it work upfront and long term, but that rarely happens for MOST newcomers to the industry. I've always promoted that someone use their primary income producer as a springboard for their MLM venture. As a general rule, once their biz income is at least twice their primary income, well then they are in a unique position to have some additional options to make that sound choice.
  • Jane
Yes. Eric, thank you. So many people think that going into business for themselves will give them instant freedom....instant rewards. It does not for most. I learned that the hard way by jumping into a new career in the healing arts without proper planning. Now things are better, but it's a lesson I won't forget. NM can be the side gig that turns into the full time gig, or turns your full time gig into a side gig if you love what you currently do. But it's not going to happen tomorrow.

I agree with you 110% there are many people that say burn your bridges but I believe that bridges to relationships should never be burned i.e. your boss(who knows he probably might be in your organization one day) but burning bridges to bad habits and thoughts are important...
  • Marion
Great advice, thanks again for all you do.
  • carybennett
More great advice. This does take time but oh so worth it..
  • DerekMcLennan
If more distributors would approached their network marketing business with a traditional business mindset and view each prospect a valued business partner or board member. The attrition rate would drop tremendously. This is industry is for everyone but, everyone isn't cut out for this industry. The same is true for the traditional business model as well.

A real business that takes time, Great Advice, Thanks Eric !
  • Some people don't understand that Network Marketing is a REAL business,
and like any real business it takes time.
  • FedericoGrowthsperity
The problem is that most people want to create freedom in a matter of months, when people finally understand that NM needs time to be built, and built right... then and only then MLM will create freedom for them...

    Have a great day!

    Federico
  • talya_mitzafon
thank you Eric, It's very important lesson. I am here to create my freedom.
  • You are such a fantastic mentor Eric. My wish for all the people in traditional businesses is that someday they have the realisation that we do have a better way. I'm with you my friend...step by step. Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • I know a few leaders who really need this message! great advise!
  • #291 MLM creates freedom
It’s great to be optimistic about your MLM future. But don’t forget this fact check: In MLM at first you do a lot of things you don’t get paid well for. Later on you get paid well for a lot of things you don’t do. It doesn’t work to expect to turn that around 180 degrees.

There is no such thing as freedom of choice
unless there is freedom to refuse.

  • aceballos007
Great advice and reminder Eric, I continue to thank you for being there when I need some advice. It's comforting to know that there is someone out there who has lots of answers to must - if not all - of our network marketing questions.
  • coltsco
Great advice to not be tempted too soon to go full time.
  • Thank You very much!
  • Great Great Great Advise!!!
  • garyparmenter
    Great advice! Thanks Eric
  • Great advice, Been there done that and it is very difficult when you try to go full time too quick.
  • Good advice.
  • The JOB bicycle we were trained to ride since kindergarten is only comfortable because of all the time we have put on it. We have forgotten how many times we fell down, the stigma of training wheels [or perhaps we haven't forgotten training wheels] and just how much time we have put into 'learning' how to do a good job.... Networking, while it is similar to our comfortable old bike is more like a unicycle or one of those new twisted two wheeled skate boards. Different skill sets are needed to perform with the same grace and composure we have developed on the job. The time required to acquire those skills must be spent on the same kind of falling down, training wheels and hands on learning we put in the first time.

Someone asked me recently how come she had to pay to join my program. She claimed she didn't have to pay to get her job. She had paid and paid for so long she was completely unaware of what she was paying to work for someone else’s dream.
  • karenandian
That is awesome, excellent way to put it!!

Excellent analogy. Mind if I use that with my team??
  • That is what this forum is for! Yes you may.
  • Bryan_in_KC
Advice like that is what builds integrity for our business. Thanks.
  • People need to take responsibility for their experiences. Despite any pain, MLM teaches a mindset and skills for success in so many areas of life
  • mariasiro
GOOD advice, thank you again Eric
  • Thank you for your encouragement. Grow the business until it replaces the current income and becomes THE business in your life.
  • Good planning (game plan) with the proper effort for you.

    Great advice. Thanks Eric
  • ritafulton
    Eric,

I wish I had heard this when I first started my journey as a NWM person; now I am very pleased to share that with all the NWMPro training and being a part of the awesome folks on this program has taken my journey now into a profession that I love, not quite as "Free" as I desire, but on my way by helping others too.

    Great words of wisdom.
  • It continues to amaze me that some people really think building a Network Marketing business is somehow different than building any other business. Donald Trump didn't get rich overnight and neither can we. It takes commitment, skill and perseverance. I love your no nonsense and realism..something we can all use..."this is a real business that takes time". Thanks Eric.
  • hpena
From first hand experience I can tell you that this is great advice. It's also a tactical advantage to be able to say that you built this business while you had your regular job and responsibilites. People can relate to that story more than "I saw this on Tuesday and quit my job on Thursday".

Eric ~ I like everything you just said.
This industry is not a quick fix and growing and establishing any business takes time.
Thanks again for your honesty and keeping it real.
  • Judging by this videp you have just finished Robert Kiyosaki's "The Business of the 21th Century", an absolute gem that every NWMprofessional should have in their library and hand out to their leaders.
  • Gakungu
    Excellent advice, Eric. Thanks!
  • Wish i had this advice before I lost everything in my first MLM several years ago. Almost turned me completely off of Network Marketing!
  • brigittapatel
    Excellent advice.
    Love it.
    Thanks a million
  • Steve_Nelson
Thank you for the advice from the heart! Let's all get ourselves FREE!
  • Love it Eric! I'm tolerating the j.o.b until I can fire my boss!
  • soxfan071
This is very true. I made the mistake in the past when I was laid off from my job thinking I could go full time and my family paid the price. I need to hear this from the top and to be reminded that it takes patience. Thank you for your honesty.
  • fc34615
My initial main objective as I learn and grow in this amazing business is to get out of debt, become free, and then build a residual income that will allow me to fire my boss and become independent while helping others achieve their dreams.
Thanks Eric. Can't wait to meeting you in Indy in May.
    My best,
    Fernando.
  • I agree whole heartly. I did just that in the early 2000's and it about kill me. So now I have a job, working this the better way. Thanks
  • Katie N
So true,This is how I am managing it now.
  • enrique62
If you depend in you NM business for your income too early, it could to desperation and another job.
    Built to real freedom
  • jlconner
Thanks Eric. This really makes sence. Too many people trying to depend on MLM too early.
  • Episode 82 of Eric Worre's 100 Episode Throw Down Challenge:

Thank you for not being one of those who tell people to sink or swim. I think your honesty is one of the things you do that builds my belief in this industry more than anything. Great stuff.

Even though you hear about the "overnight success" stories, the leaders always tell you this is a 3 - 5 year process to build your business. Yes, a few do climb up the levels fast, but that is not the norm for most. We have to keep that in mind.

Hey, full of enthusiasm after last weekwnds Event.
Well I do realize that ROMA wasnt built in one day , or a year.
Safe and slowly gives a good foundation.
    Thank you again Eric.
  • Foord Yates
    Be free.

    Foord Yates.
  • Excellent points, Eric. This is a 3-5 year plan and it takes patience.

Above and beyond that, when you go full-time too quickly, the pressure you feel - instead of the freedom you should feel - takes all the FUN out of it!

    Best to you,
    Scott
  • tomlacey
    Sage advice in today's messgage.
  • Paco_Carreno
It's a shame that people blame MLM whitout taking a look to themselves and admit their own ego-based-mistakes, such as going Full-time to quickly... Let's be an example, a rol-model of what this profession can make in people's lives. Thank you for this message... This is a real professional counsulting show!
  • Lotta
    Thank you for the advise.
  • This is a great advice. I appreciate it.
    Alex Tita
    here as promised
  • MagnusEdvald
    Good advise, thank you.
  • eddyoshaughnessy
I suppose its about having the patience to wait to go full time
  • Great lesson here Eric. Thanks! I was taught that people shouldn't quit their jobs until they've earned an equivalent income from their MLM business for AT LEAST 3 months in a row.

Actually I think I may have learned that from you!
  • Love it, well said Eric. We have always know our business is our retirement fund our plan B. There is a place on all marketing plans, that when you reach it, you know for definite that you can go full time.
  • peterragg
I agree with you Eric on this and always have.

    regards
    Peter Ragg
  • Erik
I understand , but at the same time, why not go full time if you know you have the best opportunity in the world. Im refering to the book Tidelwave :) But I see your point :)
  • MarvinTowler
I so appreciate your honesty and authenticity in cleaning up the get rich quick mentality of some in our business.
  • Javed Iqbal
    100% agreed!

In my observation all the long-term-stay business companies/leaders will support the same philosophy, but the short-term-stay companies/leaders will force you to go full time as quickly as possible. EASY-COME-EASY-GO

Adopting a Plan B (that is the “pro-active approach”) is the BEST step-by-step way to create the long-term-stable freedom.

First goal: Grow your bonus equal to your job income in a reasonable time.
Second goal: Double your bonus as compare to your job income and you get it on REGULAR basis.
Third goal: Now its time to go full time.

    Thanks
What kind of message is important and accurate
  • Eric, this show contains the information that a lot of people in MLM should have heard at the start of their MLM business. It's not warm, pretty and fluffy but it's the truth.
Luckily for them though, they now have that info and so long as their psychic damage hasn't blown them out, they can start again . . . the right way. Let's just trust that they then go out and pass it on.
    Another great show. Thanks.
  • I'm a little confused behind exactly when a person should quit their job and go full time. I can see how some people work in a job that they hate and they want to go full-time as soon as possible. Other people may take after Jim Rohn and want to keep their job as long as possible so they can have an electrifying story! That's if they like it anyway...
  • jonathanlogan
Eric, you couldn't have said it better! Right on!

Seriously - your advice is Stone Cold Perfect!

    Thank you 10,000 times!
