    Love it.

Message for today: Our job is to get the new people to get pass their emotional hurdles (fear, discomfort..). It's a very useful skill to have. Logics, system etc will come second. Awesome message.
  • Emotions! Hummm. I'll buy that.
  • This was an incredible video - Really - let everyone you work with see this! And make sure they SEE this....this is what we have to be good at! Thanks Eric...
  • Kwstastozhs
    superrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.......................ok
  • awesome video!
  • Kwstastozhs
    bravoooooooooooo...................ok
  • ronaldvandomburg
when you want people to change, you have to tell stories. The rational approach doesn't work that well!!
Erik, I think you are a fantastic storyteller, giving the example every day again and again
  • Defenitly, it is about what they feel ! Emotions.... fear for the new...
    Finn
  • ronaldvandomburg
    He Finn,
leuk te zien dat je de filmpjes van Erik ook weer zo trouw volgt!
  • Kwstastozhs
    superrrrrrrrrrrrrrr........................ok
  • James Gilliam
Always helpful and insightful, this has and is such an emotional rollercoaster all the ups and downs but there is always tomorrow
  • We build our network on our dreams and dreams are emotional!
  • I remember reading that this Business is 10% facts and 90% emotions.
  • Cliff Lapenskie
This has been a real struggle for me, I'm a HUGE left-brained person, very systems oriented...I have been working on myself for some time to make the transition to focus on the emotions as I have witnessed its power. Great tip and reminder Eric
  • Greg Lucot
This is great. The 1st thing we teach in our Saturday training is to be aware of the 'emotional roller coaster' and how to manage it. If you can't manage this aspect of network marketing, then customer acquisition, recruiting and the comp plan simply don't matter.
  • Darnell Goins
That's interesting to know the real side to being in MLM....it's emotional and adjusting to it with the ups and downs and changes and turnarounds!!! Thanks so much!!!
  • karivankleef
So true, I didn't understand that when I started. It is an emotional rollercoaster that when in the mortgage industry I don't experience because it is black and white and very structured.
  • Susan Johannesson
    So true, thank you!
  • turjcxg
Boy, did you hit the nail in the head. This show is very helpful to me Eric!

Couple weeks ago I was talking to a prospect who owns her own deli with her husband. They watched our dvd bus presentation and she liked it but her comment was that although they new they were losing a lot of customers, they hesitate at starting any other business because they don't want to face the thought of having to start a new business over again. How can I help them through that emotion of "oh nooooo, I don't want to have to start over again! Not again!"
  • carybennett
Thats so true. thanks eric need to work on that skill even more..
  • G Sibley
Awesome information and OH so true!
  • Agelgt
You are totally right, I think that as professionals we need to learn more about emotional intelligence to help our team to focus more and develop our emotional skills
    thanks
  • Jose Lopez
Totally agree. It's not a head business, but a heart business!
  • Agneta Rebo
Building a network = develop relations.
To keep a relation you have to handle emotions.
  • latachia_2
    Focus On Emotions......NMPro 346
NM is almost all emotional.Help your team through their ups & downs.Help them to manage their emotions
  • Cee_G
Thank you for this. It needed to be said. It is not all structure...especially for women out there...emotions are inbred in us. So this was important to mention.
  • Eric, As always your right on the nail head. Networking is like life itself, a great Roller Coaster ride. Sometimes up and sometimes down.
  • Daniel Glez.Peña
Hola Eric I agree it´s like live our life Always are emotions.

    Saludos.
    Daniel y Natali,Querétaro,México
  • "our job is to help them get past their emotional hurdles" - yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! Slowly but surely chipping away at this for myself. "Biggest skills are emotional management skills" - yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! I'm learning this everyday for myself - guess that's helping to equip me for supporting others through this :)
  • Phillip
Very good, I've never heard it put quite that way, thanks as always
  • I like this video very much ! Manage the emotions you have ... is so important
  • Dancingwithjoy
Tears came to my eyes, and I'm not a cryer. Simply because I'm new at MLM and I''ve heard "It just makes sense" and " Just follow the system" , " Did you do what I told you to do", yada, yada, yada, etc speeches . Thanks for sharing that there's more to MLM than the "system". I'm learning, here a little, there a little. I will get to where I desire to be!
  • dianjohns
Very good lesson for today and everyday! Emotional Management skills are first, and logic and rationality are second. Understanding and controlling our emotions are key to our success.
  • coltsco
The good thing is this is an emotional business model...the bad thing ii this is an emotional business model. The answer is learning how to handle the emotions.
  • Mylifeisgreat78
Thanks Eric this is emotional and everyday I have ups and downs. Enjoy watching this video
  • NANCY Eldred
Well isn't that the truth !!
Nobody seems to 'hit the nail on the head' like you do.

So thanks (again) I now understand, that MLM is ALL about emotions. Now knowing THAT and what to do about it is everything.

Talk about having a clear understanding ............................ YOU'RE THE BEST !!!!!

  • claralondono
Feeling "low" on emotions is the path from visionary to realistic or pesimist.. Daily activities and weekly encounters with your team leaders and company news helps in maintaining the emotion and developing emotional management skills.. Thank you for the wake up call . Logic is there and emotions are key!
  • thank you Eric for your profound wisdom and insights. If people would apply it and see it more from the standpoint of their customers or prospects, rather than from their own wallet ... then their businesses would literally explode.
  • So True!
  • Jillian
Great advice - remember the doctor is always in to heal the emotions!
  • CarlosVera
Very powerful and enlightening message. We need to focus on emotions, on helping people understand what is about to happen and only after that we should take care of logic, rationality and systems.

    Thks Eric.
  • randyhendrickson
I believe emotions are a very big part of Network Marketing. I find my emotions almost overwhelm my prospects because I am very personable. They are not used to this type of approach.
  • Dafnac cohen
hi eric i call this emotion marketing in hebrew it's very funny...........
thank's for your great tips every day
  • So true Eric! We are all human, and we must never forget that. Best regards from your biggest fan.
  • Alfie
They will do their own thinking/rationalization based on how we deal on their emotions.
We should always be putting value to them. Go givers sell more. :)
  • TAbrams
When you enter our profession you step onto "an emotional roller-coaster" and as long as you can learn to keep on an even keel, and don't make the highs to HIGH, and the lows to LOW, you will be able to stay in the game, and stay in the game.

I love what Les Brown said, when he uses the airplane story. When we first get on a plane, and sit down and are about to take off, what does the flight attendant tell everyone to do? Fasten your seat belts.. Why? Because we will be experiencing some turbulence on the way up to a higher altitude and smoother air.

Same thing happens in our business. When you first enter this profession you will need to FASTEN YOUR PSYCHOLOGICAL seat belt and be buckled in for the initial take off, as we all will experience bumps, and rough air as we begin our initial journey that can reek havoc on ones emotions.

Get good at telling stories, relate to people, stay away from the "hard facts" and become a master story teller and buckle yourself in and enjoy the journey!!!

#346 Eric this topic of managing emotions has never been dealt with before in my 14 years of NWM by any coach or mentor. Thank you, this is so valuable to me personally and, helps me understand why I may have lost some people in my downline through the years. Now I have new skills and strategies to add to my business building tool box! This is truly the practical stuff we/I really need, thank you :) Carolyn Jones
  • Hello Eric, Yes I understand that this is an emotional business, and that is probably why I am not as successful as I want to be in it. Since you brought up the subject, please tell us how to get over these emotional hurdles, and how to help other people deal with them.
    Thank you...
  • Jonathan
Without a doubt - NM is an emotionally driven business. Keep your emotions in check but also invest the right emotions into your biz and help those with the decisions involving their emotion with a calming influence and great success can be had by all.
  • dstfa96
I definitely plan on improving my emotional management skills so that my team and I will achieve success in this wonderful profession of network marketing and generate huge incomes so that we will all live the lifestyle of our dreams.

This was great info as usual Eric. Thx!
  • I bet they were very emotional in Spain today :)

I tend to be rational and I am working hard on the emotional aspects of the business.
  • Chuck
Sure is. Emotional rollercoaster at times too. It's like sex, nothing happens until someone gets excited.
  • The most important skill I need to master is emotional management skill!
    Thanks :)
  • Boy, isn't that the truth. Emotion is running full force. If you are doing well, emotions are running. If you aren't doing well, emotions are running. What a great message today!
  • hard to admit sometimes, but because it's a full on relationship business, anything involving relationships is emotional....good points.
  • This is a huge hurdle for me...I come from a legal background where you leave emotions out and deal with just the facts. My success/freedom and the success/freedom of others on my team depend on clearing this hurdle....so I better get a running start ! ! !
  • Luis Gringras
Great MLM definition: "volunteer army people working out their control zone"
  • Miguel Cortez
Have a Emotion DReaM.... that me!!! :)
  • maariee
    An important message! Thank you

#346 - Focus on Emotions - Great point. Network Marketing is almost all emotional. We need to address this fact all the time. Sometimes we come across people who srtictly look at the business from the logical and rational angle. It is difficult for them to real SEE the business because they don't approach the business from an emotional point of view which makes it difficult for them to counsel others.
  • seija

emotion first, logic and rationality second
  • We sure are involved in a business of emotions. Several I have faced myself and it is true we have to help those people face those emotional times. Good stuff.
  • billrogers
You hit it right on. Emotions, the primary challenge of our business.
  • Katie N
I have experienced many of the emotions with this business. Well said.
  • Very well said Eric. It all comes back to "facts tell, stories sell". Facts are the logical part and stories are the emotional part. People get emotionally involved in stories because in a lot of cases they can relate. If you can become a great story teller, you will excel at this business.
  • MarvinTowler
Wow! Great advice and yes, very helpful. I can see that I have had it reversed for a while. Time to start applying this today!
  • Eric -- you are SOOOO on point! Thanks for sharing. This is REAL DEAL stuff that often make or break network marketers!
  • hlj521
AWESOME! This is a great episode.
  • #346 NM is an emotional business.

There was once a young man who, in his youth, professed his desire become a great writer. When asked to define "great" he said, "I want to write stuff that the whole world will read, stuff that people will react to on a truly emotional level, stuff that will make them scream, cry, howl in pain and anger!"

He now works for Microsoft, writing error messages.
  • timandtricia
The emotional connection is everything right from the beginning of the process. If we can help someone make an emotional connection with their "why" the rest is easy. Just keep re-enforcing the emotional drivers with practical results and everything seems to fall into place.

    BRAVOOOOOOOO.................OK
  • Michael Gordon
Yes, MLM is a rollercoaster of a journey. It's sometimes hard to master myself, and, of course, my downline are going to experience the same feelings. Have to be proactive (as well as reactive).
    Michael
  • Natalie Thackston
Hah! My sponsor has often said that I and my immediate warm market are too intelligent, too well educated. So true. The educated part at least. Facts and figures are so ingrained into us that letting go of that kind of thinking has proven to be a huge hurddle for me. To gradually recognize that the emotional side isn't soft or lesser but indeed key and most helpful for others as well as myself, is what I am working on and let me tell you it is NOT easy.
  • Ernesto_Busnelli
Perfect analysis. I came from the architectural field and I am having
a hard time dealing with the emotional/irrational chaos in peoples behavior.
When things do not "add up" oh boy, that is a new field to me.
Great, short but juice video lesson today. Thank you
  • "People will forget what I said, people will forget what I did, but people will never forget how I made them feel." ~Maya Angelo As a leader I am opening my prospect's mind to discovery. Yes, what motivates people to be a part of my business is how I make them feel.

Here's what we say: "being a part of my business will get you that extra $12,000 a month, a year from today, it will get you out of debt and it will pay off your bills." Sounds dull.

    How about this instead?

What you are about to do, changes everything. You will never again feel the same. By this time next year imagine Tahiti! Feel the warm breeze coming off the ocean, hear the sound of birds chirping beyond the palms, the waves on the beach, the smell of the ocean and the feel of the sand as you walk, the intense blue colors of the ocean, its warm waters as you swim, the colors of the fish as you snorkel, the salt and the sand. Yes, this changes everything. Welcome aboard!

    To your success, dave sommers
  • Rasdaniels
Thanks Eric, I'm glad you touched on this subject of emotions.
  • Hi Eric! Great topic as usual! This is why it can be a bit tricky, because the emotional side is really something you need to work on. The rational, logical takes care of itself as you pointed out but the emotional side of the business is something that we need to provide. Exciting! Flying in to Barcelona tomorrow, looking forward to seeing you friday night! / Linda, Sweden
  • janetrajala
We become aware of our emotional growth the longer we are in this business. Sometimes the growth spurts are a bit hard to handle. Coming out on the other side of growth is liberating. The next step is passing on to others the wisdom we have gained in our own personal emotional management.
  • ockaren
Ups and downs in this business for sure! 4 confirmed guests for an event and 4 texts to cancel 20 minutes before the event? It's a tough business to be in. Constantly having to pick myself up emotionally to get back on the horse. I think new recruits only hear about the positives so their expectations are unrealistic. Probably training new recruits in a more honest way and then setting an example for them is going to help in retention of recruits. Thanks for the new perspective Eric!
  • As you pointed out in your CD series, read Og Mandino; Scroll VI, Today I will be master of my emotions. And how will I master my emotions so that every day is a happy day, and a productive day? I will learn this secret of the ages: Weak is he who permits his thoughts to control his actions; strong is he who forces his actions to control his thoughts. Each day, when I awake, I will follow this plan of battle before I am captured by the forces of sadness, self-pity and failure... All of us must not only emulate this principle we must help all in our circle to apply this principle. Today I will be master of my emotions!
  • aliceflanders
I have a question. When you speak of us developing a vision. Is there a good reason why we cannot use the vision our company has? I sure would have a hard time coming up with a better one.
  • We are emotional creatures which is why we back up our emotions with logic.
  • pollyhulseman
Timely message as always. You always seem to know what we are feeling address it -
  • Emotional Management Skills, Network Marketing is 90% emotion, guiding our new babies through this is very important and making sure that we set proper expectations. Thanks Eric, very important message
  • kgoren
Along the way, I have always been totally aware of the emotional side for myself, but now realize that it is also about the emotions of others. Managing your own emotions can be challenging, but helping other manage theirs is quite another challenge.
  • Marion
Timing of this message was perfect - I needed this today, Thanks!
  • Managing emotions is key to success. Getting off the roller coaster of emotions for me has been huge. Helping other do the same is important.
  • My friend you have spoken the truth here today. I tried my best to run my business based on traditional methods but I was quickly knocked back into reality. Just as you indicated everything about this business is based on emotions. Thanks for posting.
  • Graham Caddell
Emotion has always been a HUGE factor in MLM. Some people do have tremendous "wow stories" in this industry that will bring you to your knees. Learning to "channel" your emotions can help you with your self-growth if you choose to handle it properly. Another great tip!
  • Inger
Emotions... a subject often forgotten, because people don't know how to handle other people's emotions so they try to ignore them.
  • Enrique
Our emotions are related to our expectations.
  • I am a bit clueless in this area. Emotions are like time for me. They both happen. How I relate and work alongside each is different than how I relate to a computer or telephone because I have no control over time or people's emotions. I can manage me perhaps and a few particles on my desk but the rest appear as chaos I assign various meanings. It appears the various assigned 'meanings' is where argument and agreement lives. I am either banging or gently turning the dial on the kaleidoscope I am viewing life through. Some days I seem stuck with the instrument and other days I can pick up another but always there is this ‘filter’ between.
  • agelfederico
I think is not only accepting it, but working on it.
  • Anne J
Another invaluable insight. It's the emotion that allows us to "click" or connect with our prospects and/or clients; the rest is just information.
  • Michael Capilli
I'm going to give it a try. As always Eric, great tips!
  • brigittapatel
    I sure needed that today.
    Thanks for keeping us going.....
  • henryluah
Emotional Management Skills. Acquire and develop them to take our business to the next level. Managing emotions of BOTH self and that of our team members (not just the negative ones but playing up the positive ones) is now my priority. It is also outside my comfort zone (big time) because I was taught that to be a man, I've got to be logical and suppress emotions. Who else is taking on the same challenge to be emotional in a professional sort of a way (if there is such a thing)?
  • No doubt about it. First control my own so I can help others.
  • Oh boy you nailed this one Eric! Where were you when I started in this business? Oh yah right you were starting out too! Love this particular trip on your Mediterranean cruise! Small boat? What cruise line? so I can add it to my dream list!
  • Though we need to be rational when we decide what network marketing company to join, the emotional aspects and management skills are very important. Thanks!
  • Bryan_in_KC
People can say and do things to us but it is still up to us as individuals to do what we want with our emotions in response to those things.
  • ritafulton
The most difficult part of a day in my life of a NWM Pro. I get up each day renewed and at some point the "emotions" monster shows up and POW! I am getting better at letting it go and keep on keeping on.

    Thank You eric.
  • Gakungu
Thank you for that lovely insight, Eric.
  • Zinasarnov
Great tip today Thanks Eric.. Emotions first. In network marketing, emotions a such a powerful part of success
  • This is SO true....and a hard adjustment from traditional business.

I think sometimes this "emotional" element comes off as "weird" or "corny", basically less real or important. As much as I consciously don't believe that, I know I struggle w/ it internally (subconsciously) on how it affects my fears, etc.
  • This is why I only recruit cyborgs
  • 346:
    Emotion, sign you in
Emotion, are then part of daily joy, fear, excitement, etc....
Management of the Emotion is the way of having your team going over the tougher time and question time!
Be there for them and be there to understand their emotion and to help them going over them!
    Tks
  • I've seen this and how it works first hand.. When i talk to people about their WHY and develop stories around that and sharing my story and my WHY people are much more excited about learning more. When I get technical and talk about comp plans and products they seem to run.. Emotions are what keeps us going in in life and what make it fun.
  • hpena
Timely message. It took me a long time to learn that my EQ (Emotional Quotient) was more important than my IQ (Intelligence Quotient). Unfortunately I never even knew that there was such a thing as EQ until I was 27. It put my scholastic career in perspective. We're taught logic and encouraged to disregard emotions. We have a better (necessary) way.

    Nando
  • CarlosLoureiro
Less techincal and more heartfull. Great lesson
  • HUGE lesson and message Eric, so true, this business is all emotions and sometimes they can get the best of us, but we have to keep pushing and listen to Pro's like yourself in those "down" times.
  • MagnusEdvald
This is what I have done wrong. My focus has been on logical and structural things not emotions. Very helpful show and important lesson. Thanks.
  • aliceflanders
I have thought for a long time that network marketing is almost like a religion. Have faith, do what you should etc. And just as religion has its fanatics, so does MLM.
  • Absolutly all our actions are emotion based and always focussed on ourselves. This may come as a surprise to some as you might argue that altruistic action cannot be focussed on ourselves. But even those actions are selfcentred as they give us a good feeling. Once you truly realize this you are ready for a quantumleap forward; in your relations (hey, if you try to be nice to your partner and get no good feeling in return; how long would it take before you begin to doubt your relationship), in your work (if you can choose amongst two jobs, one at €2500/month with a shitty boss and one at €2000/month with a fantastic boss; which one would you choose), etc.,etc.
In that respect I would like to point out to you that money has absolutly NO value but the value you give it. And guess what?! The value you give it is based on emotions. That why I believe we shouldn't talk too much about the amount of money you can earn in NWM but rather focus on the lifestyle it can give us. And base the story about lifestyle not on our picture of the ultimate lifestyle but on the picture the person we are talking to has of the ultimate lifestyle. That's why stories are more effective then facts and figures.
  • thank You so much Eric ! I should be successful than , cause emotions is what' i am all about ! I just joined, but technics and finances is what blocks me most ! I 've got over 600 friends on Facebook and I have no difficulties communicating woth people I'm a buddhist for over 30 years and I've traveled the world around too : by the way , I'm French with an American daughter in New-York : I was in Barcelone 3 weeks back but i'm afraid i can't afford going next week-end ! I think if i could difuse the cash flow class I won't have problems contating people around the world : got to go to my bank this afternoon as my credit card is expiring this month and as i'm paying my small house back , i'm quite squeeze ! I never really cared about money but i've plenty of whys : finnishing paying the house , getting my daughter into the business , helping kids in India and Nepal where i go for 30 years , open a buddhist retreat center .... keep all well ! sylvie
  • It might be a good idea for you to follow Randy Gage's blog about prosperity as I noticed a lot of thinking he warns people about: http://www.randygage.com/blog/manifesting-prosperity-through-consciousness/
  • germarl
Emotions = energy - positive or negative - how to minimize or eliminate the negative and accentuate the positive firstly in ourselves, and then help others to do the same....
  • Karmo
NM is indeed emotional business. In my first months in the business I've learn some interesting thing about myself.
    Thank you for the help.
  • tomlacey
Intersting point to manage the emotional portions of your team's MLM life for success. Thanks for the great perspective.
  • karenandian
Thank you Eric for another insightful clip. Focus on emotions, feel them, deal with them and don't let them control you. We must control them.
  • Good point on this Eric. I think so many people use the lure of money to be their only motivation for joining an MLM. What a really GOOD upline will do is help their downline through their own trials. I never sugar coat the opportunity or focus on the money. (Thankfully my company is about building relationships & the money is secondary bonus.) I make my first priority helping people & being a good coach. Emotional ups & downs are what will break a person who doesn't have a good support system.
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
Emotional intelligence is the only way to get the results we think we want – backed up by doing what we must do and what we know works and is proven to do so, repeatedly, over a consistent period of time.

Setting expectations is, indeed, the stuff of emotions along with all else...and, for men especially, getting in touch with our emotions can prove to be a bit of new experience, especially for we of more mature years. Perhaps it’s a generational thing, with the next generation or two better taught under many headings, such as philosophy and the emotions of life.

    Thanks again Eric
  • I bet Mark!
  • Very important message - Thanks!
  • Erik
You have to make your prospects to put them self in the picture. Thats why you ask them what to ,do ,see or become if money was no problem
  • A few years ago one of the leaders in our company said that our business is about 90% emotion and I've seen that all these years I've been in the business. So I agree that emotion plays a very important role in building the business.

    Theodore from Greece
  • Dylan Cooper
We are emotional creatures. I heard somewhere that we buy emotionally, then justify it with logic.
  • Great show today. Very emotional indeed.
  • When you know WHO you ARE and see yourself in others, the others will start to see THAT in themselves and from there one is positive joyous expectation and an incredible ride on the river.

    Here as promised!
  • Kjell Englund
Emotions first, I´m glad you confirm that Eric. I have thinking about it for a while and it´s some understanding that have grown in my mind about that. It´s not easy for a new kid in business but I can see I´m on the right path...with a little help from my friends.
  • One of your best subjects yet. I will comment later in details 'cause I am still overcome with emotions now Holland has made the finals in the WorldCup. LOL
  • Mark_Abrahams_UK
Holland v Spain in Final? Winners = Holland. My predication. No lack of emotion in the houses and streets of Holland last night.....
  • I bet Mark!
  • Inger
Hahaha... Dutch people normally try not to show emotions but there are some exceptions to the rule...
  • David1pierson
Great as always Eric.. you hit the neg emotions but how about a post about the positive emotions.. how do yo hit those to get a prospect excited and allows them to dream again???
  • carolbarrett
Emotions first. I love this profession because it allows us to help each other and in the process we benefit and grow from it. Emotions are such a powerful, huge part of success in network marketing. Great tip today. Thanks Eric.
  • Lea Sedan

    Hey Erric Worre,
When people are going to buy anything, their amotions motivat them for to buy or, not to buy.
After they bought every thing, they explain every purchase by logical motivations. This rule is
Characteristic to the most of the people.
By the way Mlega is abeatiful place, jnjoy your vacation.
