Winter : Tough times; You need to endure and it's great to know that spring (opportunity) is on the way.
  • The good thing about winter is that spring is on its way.
  • ronaldvandomburg
although it's hich summer outside, in my business it feels als midwinter
  • CarlosVera
Get ready to endure tough winters and after that you will enjoy a blooming spring, as long as you are prepared!!!
  • Timea Dani
Yes, that is true that everyone have problems and dificulties in their life but if you never give up you can find spring and the success. Thank you Eric for this words.
  • Cliff Lapenskie
Yes this is a very true reality in our business. For myself I'm just coming through a very harsh winter that has lasted longer than expected but I am sooo ready for this spring.
  • Absolutely true...and those who pass it trough a winter - will take care of spring and summer even better....
  • Susan Johannesson
The winters can come so fast and go away as fast as they came. It is a shame if we don´t hang out until the spring.
  • Going thru the winters........Builds your character!
  • When the "winter" comes stay consistent on what you are doing and know the fact that after every winter spring will come :)
  • mrmauriocrawford
Eric this rocks. Not too many people prepare their students for the rough times. I always say that there is more behind perseverance(hope i spelled that right). LOL. thanks again for this post.
  • #358 - This is a new prospective that I haven't seen before from NMPRO or I just am now hearing the message finally.

    Powerful Stuff!!
  • Teambodie
Great Message Eric. A mentor and friend (TZ) spent 5 days in my market when this was released. we are moving into a "summer" time blitz after what seemed to be a 3 year winter.. Rock Enroll!
  • karenandian
During winter - always remember that spring follows - and what a beautiful season Spring is!! Preserverance will pay off.
  • Daniel Glez.Peña
Hola Eric, every day has diferents weather... We have the tools to do our best.

  • James Gilliam
Love the book and Jim Rohns teachings and of course GOPro
  • I am not a fan of winter however there is a reason and a season for everything
  • pollyhulseman
Making it through the tough times makes you stronger.
  • talya_mitzafon
A man with a dream will never be denied! A man with a dream will faces fears! When you face your fears long enough, fears will disapear! It's only a matter of time". Luei Carillo
Keep this in mind on winter times.
  • margarethockaday
Like the scouts and military, be prepared and ready
  • Its only after the rain you can see the rainbow....
I think this is the hardest to handle, not to give up when the cold winds are blowing
  • coltsco
Great advice to not be so bitter and disappointed with the tough times that you're not prepared and ready to receive the opportunity.
  • Dancingwithjoy
One has to know what it is s(he) wants and stay in the present.
  • billrogers
Great points! Net work Marketing is a lot like marriage. Easy to fall in love but takes a lot of effort to stay married.
  • Inger
Well said! Let's celebrate summer now! :)
  • David1pierson
Got a message from Jim Rohn site about being ants, always working and preparing for winter...
  • Don
Sometimes the tough time come in the summer, just tonight with my up line had to stand firm. Because when things are going good and not like everyone wants it to go. Pride and disapointments set in you cannot put your feeling in when this is a business. Everyone want do the right thing and that is there choice and they have to pay the price.
  • onemartymac
Just keep moving on, the tough times make you appreciate the good times.
  • TAbrams
I think that is a great comparison and one thing we all know is that with each season and whatever it may bring, the next season will always come.

If you stay dedicated, committed, persistent and have a long term vision you will endure all the Winters and be able to see the flowers bloom in Spring, and reap the harvest of the Summer months.
  • One of my mentors, James Ray talks about the seasons and how this relates to our life. I remember him saying "you never have a winter where spring doesn't follow." Thinking like this will help us get through our "winters" whatever they may be. Another of my mentors says that "winter" is a good time to grow through reading, listening, attending seminars and investing in ourselves so that when "spring" opportunity arrives we have grown to the person we need to be to accept and recognize it.
  • Kwkfit
Very poignant. People forget that dark, cold winters appear in the 'job world' also. I think the most important part of your message was that ' you weren't so bitter and disgusted and defeated by winter so when 'spring' came around you were open to the opportunities that came knocking'.
  • Michael Gordon
I've certainly experienced "downs", but I know that network marketing can be unpredictable, and that you never know what's around the corner. It's definitely worth hanging in there!
    Michael
  • My personal winter is this summer :(
  • Great message. I have never had a tough "winter" but I have certainly had many mild ones.

This is a great reminder that to get to the top is a struggle and not to quit but keep your eye on your dreams.
  • agelfederico
Great book from Jim Rohn, thanks for the reminder of the analogy. Brings back great memories.
  • Agneta Rebo
    Getting prepared for summer :)
  • Miguel Cortez
It in which get us ready for what to come!!!! Thank you!!
  • Eric, Enjoyed this show. Love Jim's words. I myself am in the winter time in my personal life right now. What I've learned from Jim and many others is to just put left foot in front of right and keep going. Life is just a big roller coaster ride, enjoy it no matter if your on your way up or on your way down.
  • ockaren
I feel that my spring is just arriving after a long hard winter of about 1 year! It actually caught me a little off guard, but I am not bitter. With Eric's shows and support from my organization I feel that I am more prepared and more ready than I would have been 4 months ago!
  • dstfa96
Eric this was right ontime because I am going through the season of winter right now and I agree with you 100%. I am enduring the winter, remaining consisent and dedicated because I know that Spring is right around the corner and when Spring arrives with opportunity I will be ready and I am taking not only my life to the next level but my entire team as well!
  • Jonathan
How ironic you talk about this as I'm listening to Rohn's Audio CD's "The Art of Exceptional Living" - just awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Tough Times in MLM NMPro #355
Learn to handle the winters in MLM.This too will come to pass.Don't miss the opportunity when it does arrive!
  • I have endured through my beginning of the Network Marketing career, but just today I was able to sign up my first Distributor. I am very happy that I had the friends and mentors of this industry (like Eric) to keep me focused, and knowing that I will succeed. Thank you Eric and everyone...
  • Grace13
    wow, i got it...thks...
  • MarvinTowler
I think it goes back to your 1,3,5,7 philosophy Eric. It's a marathon, not a sprint, and if we can hang in there the seasons will change, they always do.
  • Phillip
Very good message, thanks for sharing that info. It's a great reminder for all of us....
  • Opal Byfield
Fantastic advise. I am going through severe winter in my MLM business and am encouraged that although times are though never give up because I will miss the opportunity when Spring shows up, and show up it will.
  • Endure through the winter, I love it. Great advice once again.
  • Let´s face it: MLM is like life in general. We will have ups and downs, resistance and frustrations, joy and happiness, good and bad times. Nothing new about it - it´s the thing called life. Some call it problems..
Some do it now, some do it later, some do it never.
MLM is like life; an amazing journey!
  • Ernesto_Busnelli
Neat concept and philosophy. Unfortunatelly I was not exposed to this wisdom/philosphy
earlier but it is what it is, today is a new day.
  • susanclark
#356 - Handling the Tough Times in MLM - Sometimes you need to endure the winter in network marketing so that you can benefit and move forward when the spring arrives. Living in the NE I get this analogy. Just don't get bitter when things don't seem to be going like you want.
  • This going to be very cool Eric.. Thanks for taking this on.. I shared this with someone new in the industry and she was very impressed. So much so I think she is signing up to NMPRO and passing on the info to her group with her company.
  • Daniel Saab
Eric, this is a fantastic comment, thank you very much.
I wish to see you around soon.
    Best regards,

  • great message! looking forward to this series, it's like how I've heard it to take "no" as New Opportunity, they could lead you to someone or become a good customer, but you have to stay positive and keep the relationship first, and it's difficult when you are searching for the yes's. thanks Eric!
  • BetterCoffee.dk

Good to hear that message sometimes.
    Hang in there!
I will, and I will get there in the end!
  • Eabus
Neat concept and philosophy. Unfortunatelly I was not exposed to this wisdom/philosphy
earlier but it is what it is, today is a new day.
  • The winter's of network marketing are made for rest and preparing. Typically they do not coincide with the actual season as marked on the calendar but our personal winter.
  • The tougher session for us in MLM is typically winter and summer. Fall and Spring tend to be our best growing periods.

Eric what is the best way to endure through the tough times of network marketing?
  • tim and tricia
Eric, it's COLD outside:) lately it's been hard to tell if it's winter, or I've stepped into a deep freeze...it is a BITTER cold, nonetheless - and yes, it is very dangerous to let the "bitter" enter your soul...

  • turjcxg
Eric, what a FANTASTIC show! Thank you for this show and for your honesty about your winters and your experiences. I think that's one of the most important parts of NMPRO for me. I feel like I CAN make it when I watch your show because your honest about your experiences and not just the good experiences but the bad ones too.

The point about not getting bitter at or about the winter is so very important. When I look back at my winter (also 2005) I realize how much time and opportunity I wasted by being bitter about that winter. I've been able to learn emotional skills to help myself come to terms with my winter and the financial damage I inflicted on myself as a result of that winter. I'm finding that on a DAILY basis, I have to consciously exercise those emotional skills to help myself feel positive and to help myself actively look for the opportunities and to stay active even in my winter which is just now (yes, summer 2010...) starting to thaw.

I think for me personally, that is one area of personal development that has been and continues to be very critical: how to get through the hard times with a good attitude and while CONSISTENTLY using those emotional coping skills that keep me focused on the upcoming spring.

Thank you again for your honesty and for your advice - yes, mortals can make it in NMPRO in spite of our shortcomings!
  • I found the idea of not being bitter when the weather changes to be a really important point for me.

God and I have a deal going about the actual seasons- I can bitch and moan all I want about the cold in winter, but I cannot complain at all about the heat in summer. That's our deal. Maybe I should take that deal into the metaphoric seasons too!
  • Great message Eric. Living in Perpetual Spring I tend to forget the season changes. My dad grew up on a farm and we spent many weekends there growing up. The winter months are busy getting ready for spring and summer to come. [I really like the word endure. I was told to replace quit with endure.] Enduring the cold of winter and its long dark nights is done with actions preparing for spring. If you wait until spring everything that needs to be done will overwhelm you. Prepare for coming spring and summer. Use the season to its advantage.
  • Casey
    Thanks once again Eric!
  • MagnusEdvald
This is very true Eric. This concept is very well dealt with in a book by Robert Schuller; Though times dont last but tough people do. It is a concept that we can understand with our brains but it can be very difficult to believe it in our hards in the middle of our winters.
  • The lesson of the seasons had a major impact on my attitude when I faced challenges in a traditional business, and was my first exposure to Jim Rohn. Knowing we all have a need for personal development is the first step of life's marathon.
  • Vonnie
Yes we all know that spring comes after winter yet it is good to be reminded!! thank you Eric...... currently looking forward to spring!!!! Have an amazing day!
  • Right on, Eric. In fact, we are in a bit of a "winter" period right now due to the summer lull. However, it's a PERFECT time to set ourselves apart and fill the funnel for the fall blitz!

    Best to you,
    Scott
  • dianjohns
Great message... to stay focused during the winter because spring is coming. I like what you said, too, about not becoming bitter. That's why so many people have a problem with network marketing, because they may have had a bad experience and they are allowing that to block their vision for future abundance.
  • Now watch how Nick Vujicic deals with a winter like one you are unlikely to ever encounter: No arms, no legs.....no worries: http://tinyurl.com/359w2fg
  • NANCY Eldred
Now we get to see the other side .. of what it's like to own and run a business. Most Network Marketers have always been employees not the business owner, had no real clue what THAT was like ... so now we get to experience it, and not all fun and games and easy money.

We still are luckier than the standard business owner because with MLM we do have a better way .. no overhead - no employees - no huge cash start up .. etc

Another meaningful program today Eric and I like how you continually love your friend Jim Rohn and you make him apart of your life and business and share him with us ...
  • Enrique
    thanks
  • Jim Rohn has also been an amazing influence in my life as well.

I did not have the privilege to know him personally but I have spent hours and hours during my walks being taught by the -best- through his training. I love his philosophy. Regarding the seasons of life, what about winter? This clip by Jim says it better than I. http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=9050809...

When in winter and when discouraged, just -decide- that enough is enough, just draw the line in the sand and say -no more-. Make a stand. Success is a decision. Just decide. I put this quote right under my photo in Facebook as a daily reminder . . . "If you do not like how things are, change them. You are not a tree." Jim Rohn

To your success in -all- seasons! dave sommers
  • Natalie Thackston
It is one of the most difficult things for me; waiting for the spring, knowing it is coming but in its own time and not necessarily when 'I' think it should. I remind myself it's inevitable and that helps me to relax and flow forward.
  • Gakungu
Thank you for that thoughtful insight, Eric.
  • I want to live in the southern regions. They have very mild winters. Lol!
Seriously great post I love the analogy, thanks for sharing.
  • Dan
    Thanks Eric...Halleleujah...
  • ritafulton
Amen! Even though I do not cherish winter seasons, they keep me moving forward one step at a time.

    Thank you!
  • Your seasons seem opposite some years..
  • Don't quit before the blessing!
  • Graham Caddell
Network Marketing really does follow a "seasonal" calendar. One has to be ready when the "harvest" appears.
  • kgoren
What a great analogy. I really needed that today. If you can stand the test of time, opportunity will be there waiting for you. Endure the "winters" in your life and be ready for opportunities of the other seasons.
  • carybennett
Thanks for the reminder, and encouragement to stay focused. we def all go through some valleys but what we can gain when we come out can be amazing. Thanks again
  • CarlosLoureiro
It's like a test to your self confidence! This is really good stuff. Never quit and never doubt about ourself's
  • carolbarrett
Wow Eric! This is one of those shows that I will be watching over and over again.
  • Futrarchitek
Welcome back, thanks for all the wonderful views from your trip. Winter never fails to turn to Spring is as truth in everything in life. My Dad would always tell me "and this to shall pass", there is never any situation that is so bad that one cannot battle against and win, even if it's ones realization of mortality.
  • Wow Eric, you're right again! I'm so amazed that you keep coming up with all these topics! I've had som bumps on the road but nothin I can call a winter yet, but I'm thankful that you talked about this so I can be prepared! / Linda, Sweden
  • seija
Endure the winter and be ready for the spring!
  • brigittapatel
    Thanks for that enlightening insight.
  • Wow Eric, the analogies you provide just make so much sense, its amazing!! This applies to my personal life as well, I'm in the "winter" season right now and can't wait for Fall.
  • Cee_G
Endurance gets tested not only when you are winning the race, but most of all when the race is winning out over you. Bottom line..never quit.
  • claralondono
Excellent topic and absolutely useful. Thank you Eric
  • Michael Capilli
"Tough times don't last, tough people do."
  • maariee
    Thanks for sharing!
  • maariee
Thank you so much. Great message. You give out so many wisdom. Great help, not only in my work with mlm, but also in my privat life
  • Alfie
    I remember the song "Rainbow".

This is such a wonderful place to be
Even if there is pain now
    Everything would be all right
For as long as the world still turns
There will be night and day
    Can you hear me
There's a rainbow always after the rain

    Very inspiring message.
  • tomlacey
Enduring the winter is all about staying positive while building your skills in preparation for the spring that is sure to come.
  • I have absolute (and I mean ABSOLUTE) faith that the Universe (or God or whatever you want to call it) will deliver everything I need in live. In that light, I also realize that the winters can be a blessing in disguise. If you are bitter (ie if you don't have absolute faith) you will not see this; if you have absolute faith you will realize that the winter is a blessing in disguise but that you are simple not ready to see in which way. Once you develop this absolute faith and you look back at your life, you will see that most things were indeed blessings and of those things where you don't see it yet you will have the relaxed attitude that gives room to see it earlier. I know, a difficult concept to grasp (if you see it as difficult) but believe me: EVERYTHING in life is PERFECT!!
  • 101:
Consistencyis for sure the way of going through tough time in MLM!
Never give up, be consistant in tough and good time
  • Consistency is key no matter what the weather is like. Make your own sunshine in winter by your positive attitude.
  • Great lesson Eric, thanks for sharing. I sit and watched this show and really understand that you are such a wonderful person and one of the best mentors in my life. Thank you my friend. best regards from your biggest fan.
  • Riverskevin
Boy, this is si good! This is so true!
  • I just appreciate everything.. and choose to live in my season because there is no bad and good, tough or easy etc.. there are just events.. just things.. i enjoy the ride because that's why i chose to come here.
    Fired up and focused!
    Alex Tita
    Here as promised.
  • After winter comes spring. That's just the way it is....
  • Great message and i can tell it comes from a place of experience and passion from you Eric!

Nice to see you back on your deck over looking the lake! ;-)
  • aliceflanders
I just thought of something. You are talking about bringing network marketing to a new level. Having people be more professional in their actions. We are experiencing global warming. As more of the world becomes professional, do you think that our winters will be less and our summers more productive? I also remember the discussion of not wanting it to be easy because if it were easy, there would be no money in it.
  • #356 making it through the good times and bad times

Don’t let the challenging times (winter) get you down, because you’ve GOT to be in the right mind set to benefit from when a brighter season (spring) comes along.
  • Kjell Englund
Be ready for the opportunity when it shows up even if the winter is hard.
  • Erik
Great show today Eric. Jim Rohn R I P
  • Marion
Thanks I needed that very timely advice.
  • Susan
Thank you so much, Eric, for reminding us all that the Spring will come...good point about the bitterness, about not giving up. Looking forward to the post tomorrow!
  • Jillian
Thanks for the encouragement when the dark days of NWM appear on the horizon. I think what is great is the fact that you share these moments that one believes is only unique to you! It''s funny but that is helpful.
  • Germarl
    Great advice -
  • Greg Jurgenson
Great stuff Eric... Great things come to those who want it bad enough and fair the winters !
