Dear Network Marketing Pro Fans,

The experience of running a Network Marketing business has certainly stretched your beliefs, expanded your doubts, and made you grow as a person.  I am not going to pretend like I know where you have been or where you want to be.  All I know is that shortly after I got into Network Marketing I experienced frustration and doubt like never before.

But…

Today, 30 years after first getting into this profession I am prepared and trained like never before.  I can look back and realize that one of the biggest sources of my frustration was objections.  I would get all ready, excited, and eager to make my presentation to a new prospect and they would shoot me down before I ever go to the punch line.

I WALKED AWAY AGAIN AND AGAIN DEFEATED AND FRUSTRATED.

I consider myself lucky for two reasons.  First, I found a mentor that had the guts to tell me I was doing it all wrong.  Second, the new generation of Network Marketers is taking this profession seriously.  They are preparing for the career ahead of them and they are not leaving it up to chance.

Mentors & Training

For many years now I have told the story of how Jim Rohn changed my life and career.  He helped me in so many ways.  Most of all he helped me see my situation for what it really was.

Mentors can function like a mirror.  They are not biased, they do not hold back.  They give us an actual account of where we are TODAY.  If you do not have a mentor like that, you need one, trust me…

Many of the best mentors have a secret weapon when it comes to the fear of rejection.

PREPARE FOR REJECTION, IT WILL COME

It’s that simple, prepare for rejection because it is eventually going to come your way.  There are dozens of courses out there that can help you prepare for the objections and rejections you will encounter in Network Marketing.  Make sure you enroll in one of them and make sure you implement the lessons discussed.

WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AN OBJECTION AND REJECTION

The primary difference is where they originate.  An objection originates in the person’s mind that we are speaking to.  We do not know the reason why they originate.  We do not know the motive behind the objection.  All we know is it is generated by someone else and it is something we overcome.  They are not directed at us and many times are a reflection of the person themselves.

OBJECTIONS

For example, we present our business opportunity to a person and they immediately respond, “MLM companies are a pyramid scheme.”

Many of us would walk away in defeat.  We would have no idea that we could easily explain that almost every company in the world follows a pyramid type structure and bringing this to the person’s attention may empower them to join our business.

However, that’s not the real issue at hand.  We are trying to get a grasp on where objections come from.  Below are the top 9 reasons people object to your offer.  What is important is to realize that none of these have to do with you.

  1. They are trying to buy time to think about your offer.
  2. They have a previous experience that may or may not be based on rumor.
  3. They have limiting beliefs about their own ability.
  4. They do not relate to your story.
  5. They think you are exceptional or have an ability they do not have.
  6. They do not believe they can afford an opportunity like yours.
  7. They do not see the long lasting and multiplying benefits of your opportunity.
  8. They do not have the time to take on another venture.
  9. They do not listen to other people.

The most important thing to remember is most objections are battles going on inside the other person’s head.  It is your job to help them realize they are not practical.

REJECTIONS

Rejections are an entirely different beast.  In all truth, there is very little reason to fear a rejection because most of the time they occur before we are face to face.

We live in a digital world in which people text instead of call, swipe left or swipe right, block numbers, delete emails, and build barriers between themselves and the people they do not want to communicate with.

IF SOMEONE IS GOING TO REJECT YOU THEY WILL DO IT BEFORE THEY SEE YOU!

In our society, a person has 100 different options to reject you before they ever see you.  This is GREAT for Network Marketers.  Every rejection that occurs is good because it brings you one step closer to an approval.

There is in need to fear rejection because it is all part of the filtering process.

THE NEW GENERATION OF NETWORK MARKETERS

The new generation has had to deal with social approval, rejection, and objection like no generation before them.  They are hardened in an unprecedented way.

This is an advantage.

First, it is an advantage because they are better and sorting through information, contacts, and responses than any other group of people that have ever lived.  They can pin down a potential relationship in a matter of minutes.  They can nurture that relationship online and make a real difference quickly and efficiently.

When it comes to building a career in Network Marketing these skills is priceless.

Finally, when you fall upon frustrating times, and you will remember that you are only 50% of the equation.

Keep moving forward, keep filtering.
