In this first course, I share my learning experiences of Duplication when I was first starting out in Network Marketing. One challenge was signing up a bunch of people and most of them not doing anything. The other dilemma was trying to constantly help them all at once. They lacked independence. Sound familiar?
A valuable lesson I learned from the late Jim Rohn is, when building a team that duplicates, you need to know your numbers. This course identifies the five different groups that can comprise your team and the statistical composition of each group based on a survey of 100 distributors. This insight will guide you to where you need to place your focus. You’ll also learn that what it takes to get to the Top 2% of Network Marketing is to make a decision and recruit 10 people. People often ask me...
What works when recruiting people? What works to motivate my team? What works to retain my growth? What works?
But let me tell you, it doesn’t matter what works. It only matters what duplicates.
Duplication is an old adage of Network Marketing, and it is vital if you want your business to succeed.
You might have certain skills and be able to achieve things in a way that works for you, but if those skills aren’t duplicatable, then your new distributors are not going to succeed.
The benefit of Network Marketing is that you have a large group of people performing a few simple tasks over a sustained period of time. When you recruit new distributors, you need to teach them what you do, and they need to be able to do it.
If your strategy consists of fancy things like talking to government officials or members of huge corporations, your new distributors are not going to be able to duplicate it. Just because something works for you doesn’t mean that others can do it.
So, the best thing to do is to set up a simple system that is easily duplicatable.
The problem starts when people fall in love with what works for them, and they forget about needing to create a system inside their organization that can work for anyone.
You recruit 5 new people, and you tell them that the first thing they need to do is go out and recruit 5 people.
But they don’t know how to recruit, and they won’t do the work. So, you end up holding them by the hand and dragging them along until they each have recruited 5 people.
And as your team keeps growing, you keep having to drag people around and forcing them to do the work. They all expect you to solve their problems, and they all expect you to help them with every single step of the recruitment process.
You’re pulled in too many different directions. You’re discouraged and frustrated, and finally—you’ve had it.
You tell your distributors to figure it out on their own because you’re done doing all the work for them. And then the inevitable happens…
Your distributors begin dropping like flies. And you are back at square one.
Simply dragging your distributors around and telling them what to do isn’t a successful way to create duplication. You need to create simple, duplicatable systems in your organizations that will allow your distributors to do the work on their own.
You teach your new distributors a simple system that anyone can do, and they go to work by themselves. They might still need your help every once in a while, but they have the skills and a system that allows them to do the work on their own.
As a Network Marketing professional, you want freedom, leverage, and sustainability. But, you can’t achieve that if you have to drag your distributors around by the hand and do all of the work for them.
Duplication will allow you to finally experience the freedom, leverage, and sustainability that you desire.
