Push Yourself to Change
Mel Robbins talks today about the ability to push yourself to do things, grow, recruit, and take action with your Network Marketing business. Her 5 Second Rule is a tool based in science that teaches you how to do just that. When you leave events, you are inspired, have a road map, excited, and empowered. But when you get back to your life, it’s up to you to take action. Do you know how to push yourself?
Let’s say you have a bunch of people you want to recruit, and you’re excited. But then you go into the meeting, and they all look like they’re in a bad mood. You decide that you’re not going to say anything because you can’t do this today. But you can! Just 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and go!
The only thing holding you back from recruiting the team you want, from going after the prospects that could really expand your life and business, is you! That 5 second hesitation is all that’s holding you back. There is a 5 second window between the things you know you should do and you actually doing it.
Blowing things off is a habit. If you keep blowing off the little stuff, 5 seconds at a time, how can you do the big stuff? The truth about building a business is that the first step is the hardest. 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 will get you out of bed, out the door, calling the next prospect, etc.
Mel Robbins was not born confident. She suffered from anxiety and panic attacks for 20 years. But she started using the 5 Second Rule to change everything including controlling her anxiety. Many people have a fear of flying. But the main problem is that you listen to the panic. Panic is nothing more than worrying that’s gotten out of control. All you have to do is 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and then redirect yourself to think of something empowering.
If you’re afraid to do anything for your Network Marketing business, whether it’s talking to people or giving a presentation, then you can use 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 and put in an anchor thought of your dreams, of you high-fiving that person when they join your team, or of all the zeros in your bank account.
