All I can say is I am amazed by how much technology has changed the lives of the everyday business owner.
I recently was talking with a social media expert on all the advances that have come to pass in the last 10 years. We talked in depth about how much different it is to build a business in today’s world than it was a decade ago.
Modern technology has so many amazing advantages when it comes to building a business. Just think of:
- How many more people you can reach.
- How you can grow your business on a global level.
- Auto-translation features.
- Tracking systems.
- Automated email campaigns.
- Messaging platforms.
Even though new technology has presented us with so many advantages in building a business it comes with a bunch of things we need to train ourselves to ignore.
Just look at the Network Marketing profession. We have more access to more information than ever before. There are more people teaching Network Marketing skills than ever before and there are more ways to consume the lessons than ever before. Yet many of us still struggle to succeed. We struggle to find enough prospects. We struggle to convert those prospects and we struggle to motivate our new recruits. You would think with so many advances we would have figured out how to master each and every one of those struggles.
So what’s the big secret?
I wish I could tell you that there is a single answer to all the challenges we face in Network Marketing. However, there are so many different facets to our business that we have to look at them individually. As I see it, there are some common challenges that face each and every Network Marketer on a regular basis.
In the end, the answer will be different for every challenge we face. We must constantly grow and learn. In this profession, it can be tough to find the exact path to success.
One rule I like to follow is the 80/20 rule. The 80/20 rule says that 80% of your achievements will come from 20% of your action. To apply this specifically to Network Marketing it would look like this.
- 80% of your sales will come from the top 20% of your recruits.
- 80% of your recruits will come 20% of your attempts.
- 80% of your engagement will come from 20% of your posts.
What does all this mean?
Basically, this means one thing. USE TECHNOLOGY TO HELP YOU CAPITALIZE ON YOUR IDEAL 20%. If it is social media, find the 20% of your posts that people engage with the most and copy those. If it is sales, find the 20% of your distributors that are making up the majority of your sales and invest your time and effort in them. Use social media to inspire them and train them. If it is recruits, develop an avatar of that person and target people similar to them on the web.
Technology has changed the way we build our businesses. It makes the strategies we utilize easier to implement. However, one thing has remained true over time, real genuine communication will win out each and every time. With today’s technology, we can achieve that on a grander scale.
